I really respect Penna's Italian Market. I got treated for lunch here and after studying the menu I chose the homemade eggplant cutlet which was served as a caprese sandwich on a seeded roll. I respect this establishment as they like to keep everything very fresh for high quality, once they run out of bread they are done making sandwiches for the day. The sandwich was ginormous, the bread mouthwatering, I had left overs for days and would absolutely recommend you try out this Italian Market if you are in the area, even more so if you are a fan of hoagies. I ordered online and when I got there the food wasn't ready. I was told the online ordering system was down and they never received it. Things happen...however this isn't the first time i've experienced this. So I showed my order to the lady on my phone and she wrote it down to be prepared. I get back to work and they didn't make it correctly. I called to provide feedback to the store. I spoke to the general manager whose attitude was a little off putting. She told me she was the one who made my sandwich and she made it the way "the owners wife wrote it" She said "I guess I can make you another one". Her tone was so off putting. I totally get that mistakes happen but her tone and lack of sincere apology was not the best customer service. read more

Stopped by not too long after they opened. They were ore interested in talking with old friends that attending to customers. Stopped in a few more times looking for Hoagie Dip. They didn't have any. Went today for the first time. Italian hoagie as good as any I've ever had. Wife's peppers, sausage and onions sandwich was excellent. (She always eats half, gives me the other half. Not today. She ate it all.) Took home some roast beef after sampling it and deciding it was exceptional. Took home some soups I can't wait to taste. Just went here at 3:55 P, which was 5 minutes before closing time. We were told "sorry we close at 4 and can't make anything ". I'm sorry, I thought that if a store open until a certain time, then the expectation was that a customer could come in and need something, which means you might have to stay after and meet their needs. I was waiting for my car at Bergeys and looking for something for lunch and this place popped up. I had seen the signs when driving by but wasn't sure if it was opened previously. I got the 6in old fashioned Italian, hot roast pork, shrimp salad and soups of the day. All very tasty! I wish the 6in hoagie came on a seeded roll. I forgot to add broccoli rabe to the roast pork but it was a good amount of meat for the sandwich. The soups were light and very nice on a cold day. The shrimp salad had these giant shrimps that I couldn't resist. On the other side of the checkout counter there is gelato so don't miss that! I got a pint of the salted caramel to go. The store has tables to sit down to eat and there is a mini market for the staple Italian grocery items. Penna's Italian Market sits in a new strip of stores along Bethlehem Pike. The owners are not strangers to the food industry as they own an operate the popular Fireside Bar & Grill in Ambler. This new deli is filled with Italian specialties, prepared food and a full deli counter. They have a huge seating area along with a private room separated by barn doors. Their grand opening was on a Friday in November and I was able to stop in for lunch. There was quite a crowd but the wait to order wasn't too long. I' an Italian hoagie aficionado so their Old Fashioned Italian (Boar's Head meat) was in my cross hairs. They offer (3) sizes 6", 10" and 21" i believe. I chose the 10" which was around $13 with tax. After choosing the size you have the option of a regular or seeded roll. Any true hoagie guru will always choose the seeded roll which I did. This hoagies comes with oil and vinegar which is my go to and I added sweet peppers. I think they make their peppers in house because they were not the run of the mill sweets that come out of a jar but I will have to ask on my next visit to confirm. I had to eat half in the parking lot and finished the second half at home. I give it an overall 9 out of 10. Its a solid choice and probably the best in the area. The only change I would make would be to add a few slices more of each meat because the roll is quite large and overwhelmed the contents just a bit. I will definitely be back and after updating this review at 8:45am today i'm already craving lunch! read more

Small but comfortable Italian market with a big selection of premade items and take home ingredients. The made to order sandwiches are amazing. High quality ingredients put together with authenticity. The old fashion Italian is the face of the menu. It was so fresh and full of flavor. Amazing!! Food was awesome! We ordered some sandwiches, potato and pasta salad as well as picked up some tomato pie along with fried eggplant. The turkey and Italian hoagies were great. Fresh bread and just the right amount of deli meats made this a fine treat for lunch. Potato salad needed a bit of salt, but was still delicious. The pasta salad was spot on!! Eggplant tasted like my wife's moms. Loved that! Only downside was the tomato pie, which apparently is from another source. It was tasty, but that sauce tasted like there was a bit of sugar in the mix. Not a fan of that, but it's not enough of an issue to not give the market 5 stars. Staff was friendly and helpful! I have made two attempts to order food here. Several months ago, I called to put an order in for several sandwiches. I was told they closed at 4 pm and would I be able to get there by then? I said I would be there by 4 or maybe few minutes past 4 pm. They wouldn't accept my order. Today I drove there to order several sandwiches at 2:30. They were closed at 4 according to the signs on the door. Doors were locked and there was a gentleman inside working at a table. He didn't acknowledge me at all so I went elsewhere. I've been here twice and the sandwiches have been solid. The roll is a little dense but overall a good hoagie. The old fashioned Italian is my go to. My husband and I stopped here for the first time today to grab a hoagie. It will NOT be our last time. We only bought a tuna hoagie to share and it was delicious. The tuna salad was a spicy tuna with sriracha, onions, and mayo. Holy flavor! The women at the deli were super nice and offered suggestions. The teenagers working the register were really friendly. Went in for lunch. We asked if we should sit and we were told to order at the counter and then sit down. We waited over 10 mins at the counter and we were never acknowledged and we never were asked for an order. They seemed focused on the online orders and neglected their walk in customers. Disorganized, not sure if they are trying to be like corrpolese but they're not trying hard enough. Went in around noon and they had 2 workers but no customers. Ordered a chicken parm sandwich. My co worker got a meatball sandwich. He got his order within 10 minutes. He finished his lunch and had dessert. I still never received my food. I called in to order pickup, and after seeing the beautiful atmosphere, I stayed to eat half of my Old Fashioned Italian Hoagie, which i had them add Sharp Provolone and Hot Sopressatta too. I was happily greeted upon entered and Brandon helped me and rung me up as I went to the counter. I quickly realized the Queen Tammy was the one who made my Sandwich and Wow!! She did an amazing job. It had tons of meat and cheese!! Extra sharp provolone crumbles falling off. I also requested Italian Long hots on the side and on the phone she asked if i wanted them cut any particular way. I told her exactly what I wanted, which most people can't do, But Tammy did it perfectly!! I'm not sure if it was the beautiful store, Awesome employees or the great imported Italian meats. Either way it was all Great!! Highly recommend! Worth it to come here, and the roasted red peppers were prepared Amazingly. Then after all of that, they have Gelato!!!! They should add the word Family to the name of their business. That's what it feels like when you are there. Everyone is very nice to you and the food is great. They have their own food and they also sell other Philly favorites as well. Shout out to Pete P for my excellent hoagie, he is super nice and never disappoints.
