Stopped by Sunday evening for a few happy hour drinks. The bar has a nice quite and dark vibe and they serve bites to go with the drinks. We had a few signature cocktails and a few standard ones like Old Fashioned and gin n' tonic. The happy hours bites where very tasty and you get the first slider for a penny when ordering a drink. That was a great draw in. The best was the parm truffle fries. I highly recommend them.

I have to say these are some of the best fries I've ever had. The Parmesan cheese is so fluffy and light it's like you have clouds on your fries. The fries here are perfectly cooked. The proper amount of crisp and not oily at all. It's hard to believe these are fried. The combination of the fries, the sauce, and that parmesan cheese make this the perfect appetizer. I made myself sick I couldn't stop eating them. At the price point it makes you wonder what you're going to get. Is it worth the $14 bucks that is a toss up.

Pennyroyal is beautiful and intimate speakeasy style bar that specializes in craft cocktails. It's just the right size for a date or a small group. They have a small patio on the sidewalk and lots of cozy little nooks inside, not to mention extremely comfortable barstools! The cocktails were inventive and delicious. I was traveling solo, but it would be a perfect spot for drinks with girlfriends, happy hour, or a date!

PennyRoyal is a 21+ bar tucked into the Palladian Hotel lobby. Staff is awesome, drinks are good, but the space is cold (like, keep your coat on the entire time chilly). Black Hole Sun is a penicillin rif with splash of black squid ink that creates dramatic presentation and really subtle savory hint. Ready or Not is usually made with Beefeater but since I'm not a fan, the friendly server was happy to sub it out- yum! They share a kitchen with the other restaurant on property and the menu is pretty similar We split a bunch of plates: oysters, truffle fries, local greens, and the scallop entree were all good. Wasn't a fan of the lox (real fishy) or the cornbread (just meh). Good option if you are staying at the hotel.

They had an interesting seasonal menu of drinks! I liked that they had a couple of gin options too. The service was excellent too! The ambiance is pretty cool, like an old school hotel bar with the big, old leather chairs and colorful couches. They do have a food menu but it's NOT what's online or on Yelp. We got some oysters, that were tasty but I wasn't a fan of the mignonette. Overall, would definitely recommend and is way better than most of the other hotel bars in the area.

Great spot to grab drinks in the city especially before or after a show at the Moore theater!

I love the oyster here taste so good. Can't wait to go back. I have tried all the wine they have man let me tell you they are so good.

This is a convenient place for bites before a show at the Moore Theater. The ambience is a typical small bar. I believe the food is prepared in conjunction with the Shaker and Spear restaurant located next door. This place can get a bit busy for the weekends, but the service is good. The food is also tasty.

I had drinks this evening, I had Audrey as a bartender! She was absolutely amazing talked me through her menu and asked me questions to get to the bottom of my linkings. I would recommend this place to any of my friends, amazing customer service!!!!

Some friends and I were planning to get dinner at Shaker & Spear but it was going to be an hour wait for a table on a Tuesday but instead we were able to get the same menu at their bar next door: Pennyroyal. So we did that and there was no wait at all. I ordered the chargrilled burger ($16) and upgraded to the truffle parmesan fries ($2 extra) and let me tell you: totally worth the extra cost! Fries are my kryptonite and these are some of the best fries I've had in a while. The burger itself was already really good with all the bacon and the chargrilled patty but the fries took it over the top. I'm definitely glad I got this burger and I'd get it over and over again. For drinks I ordered the old fashioned ($11) which was slightly sweet compared to other old fashioneds I've had and not bad at all. I liked it a lot and ended up ordering it again. Then my party of three shared the "initiation's over, time to join the club" drink ($36) that serves 2-4 people. It's also on the sweeter side but with these flaming shareable drinks they tend to be on the sweeter side to hide all the strong alcohol. Our waitress was also great! My friend asked her if she'd recommend the burger or the pork chop more and she went on and on about the pork chop and I thought it was so cool! He did get the pork chop and really liked it. This was a cool bar and I'd love to come back!

Based on that, she chose 4 esoteric bottles that each had their own characteristics that would be interesting to compare against one another. My flight consisted of the Pappy Van Winkle 23 years, Colonel EH Taylor Distiller's Council, Very Olde St. Nick Superfreak, and Wild Turkey Austin Nichols 16 years. It was super nice trying all of these rare bottles that I wouldn't even be able to find, and they were all interesting and delicious! The food here is also fantastic. We came during happy hour since the food is a lot cheaper. My favorite things were the Dry Aged Steak Frites and the Crispy Pork Belly. The steak was cooked perfectly and extremely tender with a great beefy flavor. I love a good french fry and these were fresh and crispy. The pork belly was tender and fatty but the fat was nicely rendered so it wasn't chewy. I love the Asian inspired flavors and the kimchi slaw provided the perfect acidity and freshness to complement the fatty pork belly.

I was so sad when I got down to the last bite lol As for the Russet French Fries, they were perfectly seasoned and just the right size. I especially enjoyed dipping them into the Fermented Chili Aioli. To which I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't actually spicy, given that I do have a pretty low spice tolerance lol. UPDATE 2/22/26 I see that Vince U (Yelper right before us) deleted his comments about not receiving a rose and thought maybe it was Violet being possibly biased against gay couples. I noticed Vince U did not take a picture of the lamb, which was about the size of a half-dollar coin, if anyone remembers what those are LOL. Yes the two bites of lamb was decent but nothing to write home about. Agreed, the Risotto was very delicious indeed, salmon was great, chocolate desert was very, very good, otherwise the rest was OK. But I wouldn't agree to understanding the assignment, for us. I had the wine flight and I love a good wine. These were all OK wines. I get it, you have to watch your costs and make a good profit, to which I totally agree. I wish we would have tried Violet our first time for the regular menu. I'm guessing we would have rated 4 or 5 stars more than likely. For a bill of $400+ (including a great tip because we love to support) we felt like we were almost ripped off. I get it, it's a special occasion and lots of work goes in to these things but walking out of there $400+ poorer really made us feel bad, from a value perspective. We never mind paying for value, but this was not it and did not hit the mark for us.
