Chili bowl, mild and almost soupy.

Focus here is on the diner food here. The actual structure and some aspects look like its frozen in time. Avoid the restroom. Lots of parking. Our server had personality. We sat in the back booths. They have some patio seating, too. I adore chili and this was a little thinner/soupy but was filled with a lot of burger meat and red beans. I just needed splashes of Tabasco to make it perfect for me. Mr Bland liked it a lot. Their hamburger is like a smashed-flattened shiny bunnies burger. Fries crispy and medium cut. **Loved that the cook walked up to our table and asked how our food was. What a sweet, caring man!

    Bacon breakfast burrito

Got a bacon breakfast burrito. Flavor was good and fresh but way too much oil. Not sure if I would try again

this is what i ordered not what i got

Service was questionable??! we had one order of the french dip and i ordered a breakfast burrito that was supposed to have what looked like chili.... came out with nothing on it ! When i asked for the remaining items that they show on their menu photo, the waitress said the menu constantly changes so we don't always have what's shown for your order..so I'll get you a side of gravy. She comes back with the gravy, we get the bill and she charged me for it! The French dip came out with corn beef, because the cook told the server i don't know how you want me to make a French dip with no roast beef. So as we sat here the food comes out and my guest says this is corn beef, not a French dip with roast beef!

We went to Peggy sue but it was busy and I was really hungry. Found this place on Yelp and I have to say thank you god for this. At first, we hesitate to go in because it was empty but we like the atmosphere and decided to give it a try. Foods are fresh and all staffs are polite. Gave it a 4/5 because I ordered fries but they gave me veggies instead. Didn't tell them because we were in a hurry.

Our breakfast! Breakfast sandwich with has browns and sausage, sunny side up eggs cooked perfectly.

We came in on a Friday afternoon, around lunchtime, and were surprised to see that the place was busy! There are a lot of tourists that stop by - and rightfully so, as they have decorated the place very uniquely. We were told the wait for a table would be around 20 minutes, were handed a beeper, and were encouraged to wait by the gift shop. The gift shop offers Thrifty Ice Creams, other sweet treats, and so many different merchandise items! It was definitely a nice stop to stretch your legs and to browse around. After our beeper went off, we were escorted to our booths and met our waitress. It took her a while to come by and help us with our orders. I mean, it's lunch rush; the place inside is loud, a bit chaotic, and honestly, it just has a charm on its own. Their walls are tacked with pictures and posters, and I love the little fact booklet showing how much everything cost back in 1996. Finally, after placing our orders, the food came! We ordered grilled cheese with French fries for the kids, tuna melts, NY steak strips, and root beer float. The kids' meals were solid; they loved them, and the root beer was great and refreshing! I loved that it came first so that we could enjoy it on a really hot day! So the float was much needed. The tuna melts and the steak itself were really good, great even. The sides were okay - the corn that came with the steak seems like it came out of a can; the mashed potatoes were dense and heavy, and while it may be a great solid side, it was a bit too heavy and a bit saltier than our preference. The tuna melts came with French fries, which we upgraded to onion rings. The onion rings were delicious; we'll need a bigger portion next time! The soup of the day was clam chowder, and we appreciated that it was delicious. We were initially missing a few things for the table, but our waitress checked in on us multiple times and eventually got us everything we needed. She also explained that their dishwasher was down or having an issue, but even then, they got through the lunch rush that Friday afternoon. We finished our meal and walked through the gift shop toward the back of the diner. There, we found a duck pond with 3 ducks and a lot of turtles in the water who seemed hungry, as they approached us immediately when we looked at them, plus some neat statues and a stage! Overall, it is a neat place to stop by at least once! If you don't have time to sit down and have lunch or dinner, you can always stretch your legs in the gift shop and perhaps enjoy a thrifty ice cream or a root beer float.

Both times I have been here, I've been treated with a level of disrespect that I have rarely experienced at a restaurant. On this visit, we had a party of five. Although the signs say to seat yourself, a waitress stopped us and asked us to wait while she found us a table. That was perfectly fine. What was confusing was that the restaurant appeared to be only about half full, and I could see at least four larger tables sitting completely empty in the room where we were standing. The waitress offered another table in a different section, but it was still covered with dirty plates and leftover food from the previous guests. She explained that they would also need to place an additional chair in the aisle for our group and said she needed to check with the manager first. Then the manager came out. Before we even had an opportunity to explain anything or ask a question, he immediately began speaking to us in an insulting and confrontational manner and told us we would have to wait approximately 30 minutes for a table. We told him that was fine--we simply wouldn't wait and would go somewhere else. That should have been the end of the interaction. Instead, as we were leaving, he continued following us toward and out the door, mocking us and saying that we were all going to "cry" because we couldn't sit in his restaurant. I genuinely cannot understand treating customers this way, especially customers who had already calmly decided to leave rather than argue about the seating situation. One bad experience can happen anywhere. Two visits with disrespectful treatment is a pattern. There will not be a third.

(4.25 STARS)…read more Memorial Day road trips always seem to create the best random discoveries, and Pit Stop Bar & Grill absolutely delivered. Tucked away off Victor Street in Barstow, this was a fun find while driving back to Los Angeles from Vegas over Memorial Day weekend. Big props to Haley M., who was basically running a one-woman show and somehow kept the entire place moving with a great attitude and solid service. That alone made the stop memorable. The location has a cool, laid-back vibe with plenty to keep people entertained while grabbing food and drinks. They've got two billiards tables, a dart board, and all kinds of classic bar games, board games, and card games, including UNO, which is a family favorite. They also have several televisions. The food was all good too. I really enjoyed the Green Chili Burger, and everyone else in my party seemed genuinely happy with their meals as well. I felt they were trying to nickel and dime when I got the bill, i was charged for a side of ranch, a side of BBQ, and had no idea I was being up charged for the onion rings. I didn't say a word, but it hit wrong with me. .75 points deducted. What especially stood out to me, though, was the Memorial Day place setting displayed near the front entrance honoring our veterans and fallen heroes. It was simple, respectful, and genuinely touching. See my picture. That detail said a lot about the heart behind this place. If you're making the Vegas-to-LA drive and want something more memorable than the usual freeway fast-food stop, this place is definitely worth checking out. Great atmosphere, friendly energy, and one of those spots you end up talking about later.

My wife had the Salisbury steak with broccoli and yams and loved it just as much. We swapped bites and agreed this was the best food of our four week road trip. The brisket is tender, well seasoned and overall very good. The bbq sauce was tasty, I would have preferred a bit more kick, but good. The collard greens were good, not like my Mama made them, but good. The rice with the oxtail gravy was tasty. The corn was good and had some heat. The beef ribs were not as tender as I would like (I am a pork rib kinda girl) but they weren't bad. The only thing that I really didn't like was the squash. I make squash and onions all the time and I could not place what was off. The closest I can come is maybe they had sat too long or the oil was old? I'm not sure but they were sadly disappointing.
