Fun diner. Great prices. The location is a short drive off the freeway. This diner is definitely a staple in the desert. It is original and has been here since the 50s. The food tastes good. There's lots of seating. I ordered one of the burgers, and the meat patty was cooked just right had had flavor. I ordered a side broccoli cheddar soup, and the waitress said it was made in house. It did taste home made. Lots of marines were there when I visited, the AC didn't work too well, and the wait staff were pretty busy. I definitely want to return and try other plates. Just like most people, we always drive on by as we make our way to Vegas. This time, we decided to make it a point to stop by on our way back from Vegas to California. We came in on a Friday afternoon, around lunchtime, and were surprised to see that the place was busy! There are a lot of tourists that stop by - and rightfully so, as they have decorated the place very uniquely. We were told the wait for a table would be around 20 minutes, were handed a beeper, and were encouraged to wait by the gift shop. The gift shop offers Thrifty Ice Creams, other sweet treats, and so many different merchandise items! It was definitely a nice stop to stretch your legs and to browse around. After our beeper went off, we were escorted to our booths and met our waitress. It took her a while to come by and help us with our orders. I mean, it's lunch rush; the place inside is loud, a bit chaotic, and honestly, it just has a charm on its own. Their walls are tacked with pictures and posters, and I love the little fact booklet showing how much everything cost back in 1996. Finally, after placing our orders, the food came! We ordered grilled cheese with French fries for the kids, tuna melts, NY steak strips, and root beer float. The kids' meals were solid; they loved them, and the root beer was great and refreshing! I loved that it came first so that we could enjoy it on a really hot day! So the float was much needed. The tuna melts and the steak itself were really good, great even. The sides were okay - the corn that came with the steak seems like it came out of a can; the mashed potatoes were dense and heavy, and while it may be a great solid side, it was a bit too heavy and a bit saltier than our preference. The tuna melts came with French fries, which we upgraded to onion rings. The onion rings were delicious; we'll need a bigger portion next time! The soup of the day was clam chowder, and we appreciated that it was delicious. We were initially missing a few things for the table, but our waitress checked in on us multiple times and eventually got us everything we needed. She also explained that their dishwasher was down or having an issue, but even then, they got through the lunch rush that Friday afternoon. We finished our meal and walked through the gift shop toward the back of the diner. There, we found a duck pond with 3 ducks and a lot of turtles in the water who seemed hungry, as they approached us immediately when we looked at them, plus some neat statues and a stage! Overall, it is a neat place to stop by at least once! If you don't have time to sit down and have lunch or dinner, you can always stretch your legs in the gift shop and perhaps enjoy a thrifty ice cream or a root beer float. read more

This was my second visit to Peggy Sue's 50's Diner, and unfortunately it will absolutely be my last. Both times I have been here, I've been treated with a level of disrespect that I have rarely experienced at a restaurant. On this visit, we had a party of five. Although the signs say to seat yourself, a waitress stopped us and asked us to wait while she found us a table. That was perfectly fine. What was confusing was that the restaurant appeared to be only about half full, and I could see at least four larger tables sitting completely empty in the room where we were standing. The waitress offered another table in a different section, but it was still covered with dirty plates and leftover food from the previous guests. She explained that they would also need to place an additional chair in the aisle for our group and said she needed to check with the manager first. Then the manager came out. Before we even had an opportunity to explain anything or ask a question, he immediately began speaking to us in an insulting and confrontational manner and told us we would have to wait approximately 30 minutes for a table. We told him that was fine--we simply wouldn't wait and would go somewhere else. That should have been the end of the interaction. Instead, as we were leaving, he continued following us toward and out the door, mocking us and saying that we were all going to "cry" because we couldn't sit in his restaurant. I genuinely cannot understand treating customers this way, especially customers who had already calmly decided to leave rather than argue about the seating situation. One bad experience can happen anywhere. Two visits with disrespectful treatment is a pattern. There will not be a third. read more

Stopped at Peggy Sue's on our way from Vegas to CA! Tourist attraction for sure, off Route 66, the original diner is there and they've added on more seating. We got there just in time as we were able to sit wherever we could find a seat. Our waitress shared that we got in right before they started "sitting people and there was a wait." Typical diner food. Our waitress was great and shared her favorites with us (I believe her name was Danielle). Burgers and sandwiches come with two sides. My husband got the grilled cheese with onion rings and potato salad and I got the tuna melt with curly fries and soup of the day. Everything was very good! Good came fast and it was hot! I've driven by Peggy Sue diner for years, always wanted to give it a try. Since I'm by myself without my family on this trip, I decided to stop in. It's easy to find since it sits near the freeway exit and many billboards along the way as road signs. Its gravel paved parking lot is huge. All those cars there were somewhat reassuring. I took the first counter seat I saw while being surprised how small this place is. Only later I found it has 2 large dining areas and a pizza parlor further in. The waitress wore a pink outfit likes those I saw in movies. Some of them seem to have been there for years. Courtney is probably the youngest among them and very friendly. She took my order and gave a glass of water without ice as I requested. Most dishes is named after celebrities of old. My neighbor ordered an omelette which is huge, enough for 2 yet reasonably priced. Peggy Sue also has a dinosaur yard outdoors. Water in the pond and waterfall is green, not sure if it's algae or coloring. Either way, I have no intention get near them. I don't think I'd bring my family here but I might stop in next time on my solo trip to Vegas to try its omelette. read more

We came on a Friday afternoon & to say it was packed inside the waiting area would be an understatement. It was like SQUISHED wall to wall packed! The woman at the front desk was extremely unfriendly with a terrible attitude. We were quoted about a 45 min wait but didn't end up waiting that long, we figured a lot of people didn't want to wait lol. There's a pretty large gift shop inside FILLED with different knick knacks, candies, & ice cream. The staff in the gift shop were a little more friendly than the older woman in the front. In the back, they have a small "diner-saur park" but we didn't go check due to how hot it was outside. Once our buzzer went off finally, the woman at the front began to give my grandma attitude because she thought my grandma said party of 9 when we all clearly heard party of 5. The woman at the front let out a loud audible sigh & told us to wait there while they "checked" if there was a table open for 5. If you had a table for 9 by YOUR OWN mistake, why would you not have it for 5?... We were then taken to our table by an extremely rude man who not only tried to rush our party, but was mad when we w couldn't keep up with his pace. We had our grandparents with us who aren't able to run around a restaurant like he was. We got sat at a table in the back, mind you there was SO MANY empty tables inside, but maybe they didn't have the correct amount of staff present. AC barely worked in the back. Extremely hot and stuffy. It's a little confusing that different people take your drink order and different people take your food order. So you can't ask the food order person where your drinks are cus she didn't take the order... it's confusing. Our server was rude, not surprised. The entire staff besides the drink order girls were rude. Food came out finally, nothing to brag about. Lacked flavor, under cooked fried pickles & undercooked onion rings. I don't know what it was but wow, Monday morning and this place was packed. I'm used to the weekend being packed but I guess even the weekdays this place is happening. Of course it's always a must for us to stop by on the way to or from Vegas's. Parking situation, there's loads of parking which you can already tell when we arrived that it was busy. We did have our pup with us which they do accommodate service animal. The only downfall, you cannot feed them even water. We normally like the main dining area just past the cashier area. Pretty much all the tables were occupied except one. Some did still needed cleaning but we got the one available. Seat yourself and then menus are brought out. I have my usual plates that I alway get but it does take a little longer than usual for the fried chicken meal. Plus it was early in the morning...lol... We all opted for something fast, breakfast. My chicken fried steak with hash browns, and eggs. It also comes with either toast, English muffins or biscuits and gravy. I've alway like this dish but today, it was a little chewy. The other breakfast was great. And the grilled tuna sandwich, with two sides. We went with onion rings which is an additional fee and some curly fries. Sandwich is simple but tasty. Service was busy but great. Our waitress was the sweetest. I didn't get her name. It was busy that morning but service was nice. We popped into Peggy Sue's Diner on our way to Las Vegas, and it hit the spot. It was one of those places, I'd see every time we would drive there and say, let's stop. Well, we never did until today. The place has that 1950's charm complete with checkered floors, and a yellow brick road. It was absolutely packed, and they still managed to get our food to us quickly with flawless service. I ordered the two eggs with sourdough toast, and hash browns. The eggs were scrambled to a light and fluffy consistency, and the hash browns were golden brown outside with a soft interior. Not to mention my mug of coffee was never empty. I also ordered the strawberry rhubarb pie "à la mode" and it was yummy. I'll describe it as the ultimate sweet, tart dessert that reminded me of a strawberry milk shake. The jammy sweetness of ripe strawberries was perfectly balanced with the buttery crust and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This was the cherry on top to my breakfast. My family and I were visiting this restaurant for the first time, and our only thought after breakfast was, 'What took us so long to visit?' We have driven past this restaurant just off the 15 freeway on our way to and from Las Vegas, but we never stopped until now. This place feels like a trip back in time, with pictures, paintings, memorabilia, and music from the 1950s. You can't walk a few inches without noticing something else related to music or old Hollywood on every inch of the walls and ceiling. The vibe here is overwhelming yet fun and nostalgic. The servers are all dressed in 1950s waitress uniforms, the menu is simple and affordable, and the food is very tasty and fresh. There's a huge gift shop near the entrance to the restaurant that offers just about anything you can think of when it comes to Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, and many other stars of the 1950s. If you're in the mood for something besides fast food and gas station snacks, Peggy Sue's is a great alternative. Originally built in the 1950s, the current owners reopened it in 1981 and have preserved much of its original charm and character. The original diner, with just three booths and nine counter stools, is still part of the restaurant, though it has since expanded to include several dining rooms and a souvenir shop. The menu focuses on classic diner fare and comfort food. Our breakfast came out quickly and the portions were just right. Our favorite part of the stop was discovering the dinosaur park behind the building. It's surrounded by a moat that feeds into ponds filled with turtles of all sizes. The kids counted at least 50 of them, and we ended up staying for a good half hour enjoying the scene. It turned what could have been a quick meal into one of the most memorable rest stops on our six-hour drive from San Diego to Las Vegas. We took a little break from our long journey back home. We decided to try this place out since they had a ton of signs along the freeway. There's plenty of parking available. I take the parking situation seriously LOL. Definitely a diner vibe going on here. The service was good but not great. I ordered a lemonade but I was grossed out because there was a lipstick stain on my plastic coke cup. That was a major turn off for me. I didn't even bother asking for a new cup. My sandwich was good and the onion rings were good but they were all clumped together which made it hard to enjoy. The cherry milkshake was good. You won't be able to miss the roadsigns to Peggy Sue's. The place is HUGE, so don't be put-off by a full parking lot. It's laid back (sit your butt down) and kinda of a maze inside. The menu is full comfort food - don't expect anything fancy. Most of what we had was pre-packaged food (potato salad, salad mix, coleslaw) which was a bit disappointing. The food was good, healthy portions. Servers were very nice. Whoa - to those on a special diet; you won't find any of those here. There's also a Dino shop (which was closed) with some giant sculptures. Overall, not a bad place to stop on Hwy 15. read more

Sunday, 3-29-2026: We stopped here for dinner on our way to Las Vegas. Upon entering you don't need to wait to be seated, you seat yourself. There are 3 or 4 dining rooms to choose from. This restaurant certainly was larger than it looked from the outside. It is adorned with movie and character memorabilia that is interesting, fun, and kitschy. You never know what you'll find around the corner. We settled at a table in one of the dining rooms that had wall decor depicting Lucy & Ricky, Elvis, and other famous stars of yesteryear, etc. Our exuberant server gave us an extensive menu. She was sweet, friendly, and very attentive. Their waitress uniform capture the past very well. It's so cute & appropriate for the vibe they've established. The food came out quick & hot. It's classic comfort food that is hearty & done well. We definitely enjoyed our stop here and leaving full. We were given a ticket to get a free tootsie roll from their ice cream & gift shop. The gift shop is full of unique souvenirs and trinkets. It was fun browsing but had to be on our way. We plan on returning. We've passed by Peggie Sue's Diner many times, actually. Even when we were driving from Vegas to Southern California & back when we lived there (3.5hr drive. Of course we would drive.) As soon as we parked, looking at the building up close was amazing. I actually forgot where I was going to, not realizing it made sense it was so colorful. (50's themed Diner duh. lol) Wow, the juke box as the entrance was a nice touch. Loved that automatically. When you walk in, it's immediately filled with 50's decoration & objects around. I didn't realize how big this place was. They have like 4 rooms & all filled with all kinds of stuff on the walls. So much history!! Breakfast was good & reasonable prices!! I had an omelette & my husb had steak & eggs. Shelly our server was nice & the outfits are so nice! Really made me feel like I was in a 50's diner. After a few discussions we were "allowed" to take a seat (the diner was not even half full)! Wow passed this for years always said we were gonna stop and we finally did! It's so big inside and had photo memorabilia from so many movies and movie stars along with pictures of Peggy Sue with some of them! I love Lucy walk. Elvis, blues brothers, wizard of oz. Each dining area is different too. Nice store as well but expect tourist prices but they do have some unique things. I like the John Wayne shirts. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Had a patty melt on sourdough with fries. It was very good. The pies looked yummy but we were too full. Can't wait to go back. This place is a 50's style diner with movie memorability throughout. They also have a small pizza place in the back. The gift shop has tons of Disney collectibles and figures, various kchotckes, souvenir magnets and stuff. Also they have various unique flavors in bottles sodas and they scoop Thrift ice cream. Outside in the back they have some dinosaurs made of metal and a King Kong. They have some ponds with super green colored water. They have a wall to create a waterfall. They have a stage area that doesn't look like it gets used. The dino shop looks permanently closed. They have a couple of tables that you can sit and enjoy the scenery. Snapping turtles are in the pond and several ducks were around. Not sure why the water is so green though, it's kind of off putting. Anyhow, when we entered we went to the right and followed the yellow "brick" road to the back dining room. The first room is a counter service area with a couple of booths. The next room is a dark looking room with tables and then the larger and bright dining room. If you go further you get the pizza place. If we had gone left upon entry, that would be the gift shop and ice cream area. Their menu is cute and movie themed with comfort food selections. Since we were not too hungry we decided to share the chicken friend steak and 2 eggs with hash browns and sourdough toast. Love that they offer orange marmalade jelly. Our server was very pleasant and food came out quickly. The chicken fried steak was a decent size and was flavorful. Wish it had a bit more gravy though. The hash browns were cooked perfectly. I live that they serve whipped butter for the toast. It was super easy to spread! The food was so delicious that I forgot to take a picture of it. Eggs were cooked perfectly. The place was pretty busy when we got there. I have always wanted to stop here and finally was able to. It was definitely worth the stop and we will be back again for their food! I had a fairly neutral experience at Peggy Sue's. I could have done without stopping here, but I also did not have a bad experience. Overall, I think I expected a bit more, although nothing was necessarily wrong. The diner was decorated throughout, but the theme did not strongly read as 1950s to me. At first glance, I could have mistaken it for more of a dive-bar-style spot, though the staff uniforms were a nice touch. The food was average overall. I tried the "Huell Howser" burger, which includes honey ham and pineapple on a cheeseburger. It was okay, but the pineapple was only one ring, so the flavor did not come through in every bite, and the ham did not stand out much either. I also tried the "King Kong Monster Burger," which was smaller than I expected based on the name and looked more like a standard double-patty burger. The curly fries tasted a bit undercooked and were not my favorite. Surprisingly, the side salad with their house-made ranch was one of the highlights. The ranch was buttery and flavorful. The candy store/souvenir shop on the other side of the building was less impressive than I hoped, much of it felt like mass-produced merchandise rather than vintage or unique finds. This iconic spot is like stepping into a capsule, from the decor, memorabilia, photos, and overall nostalgic aesthetic. Service was friendly and solid, no issues there. Food-wise: solid 3 stars. My chicken fried steak (which is actually beef, as the menu notes) had a very weird texture and I couldn't finish it. Hashbrowns were crispy and flavorful, though, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. My mom's dish got a face, I forgot what she ordered, but gave the portion she didn't eat to my step dad. My stepdad and husband, however, cleaned their plates without complaint. On the road to Las Vegas from southern CA, you'll see an icon. Peggy Sue's 50s Diner has been a long-standing landmark on the journey between the 2 cities. Even though I've passed it dozens of times, last week was the first time ever stopping and dining here. The place is a kitschy, throwback paradise filled with all things nostalgia. The gift shop is a blast. From shirts to purses to figures, and even old-style candy. The restaurant is busy, but our wait time was only about 10 minutes. The staff are friendly and super fast. And the food- OMG! The menu is old school with staples like burgers, chicken, pork chops, and meatloaf. We decided to lean into the nostalgia and order the meatloaf. For the sides, we chose mashed potatoes and corn bread. The meatloaf is hands down the best I've ever had. Ever. The whole meal was excellent. I've been to this diner twice now. Both experiences were similar. The food was decent. It was not exceptional, nor bad. I would say 3 stars. Both guest experiences were not great. There were shades of unfriendly dispositions and overall lack of customer experience. Tonight, I tried to sit in the back dining room (that is spacious, clean, and well lit) where I ate previously. I admittedly missed the closed sign for that area as it is seat yourself. The area I attempted to sit in was clean, well lit, and cool. The area we were told to sit in was dark and hot. If your guests are dining in, you should let them sit in the comfortable area that is cool and not the 80 degree dark dining room. They could stand to put their guest experience first. read more

Nothing to write home about, but more on the fast food level. I got the hamburger steak, which could use more seasoning. The fries were hard. Not crispy, just hard. It took our server almost 10 minutes to acknowledge us. She was the sweetest though. But the service was extremely slow for a restaurant that was about 15% full. The women's bathroom had a small surprise when you walk in and look to your left. My son devoured his chicken fried steak so fast, I wasn't able to take a bite. He loved it! The first time we visited Peggy's Sue's, we had an amazing experience. The service was great, we were seated quickly, and everything went smoothly. Because of that first visit, I even recommended this restaurant to others. Unfortunately, our second visit was the complete opposite. It was very disorganized. The sign at the entrance said "Seat Yourself," yet a waitress yelled at us for choosing a table. She continued speaking loudly in front of other customers, which was very unprofessional and uncomfortable. Many tables were left dirty and weren't being cleaned, and the restrooms were also dirty and poorly maintained. It was a very disappointing experience compared to our first visit. Aloha gang! We decided to make a pit stop on the way back from Las Vegas to Peggy Sue's Diner. It's a roadside diner located in Yermo, Ca. This diner is filled with memorabilia from the 1950's and Hollywood. Plenty of 50's music to enjoy while dining. There are multiple dining rooms, so if you walk in and it's busy, a sign asks to seat yourself.. I just wished there could have been a hostess to help seat guests. When we arrived it was very busy and as we navigated through the restaurant, every room was packed and since we didn't know the layout of this establishment, we felt like we had to make our way through a maze of multiple dining rooms before we found an open table. This place is big. Once we were seated, the staff was friendly and efficient. Our server, Ashley took our orders and delivered our food with a smile, constantly checking on us. She did a great job. The food was satisfying and the portions were hearty. Don't forget to visit the gift shop. There's plenty of snack, drink and gift items available as well as Thrifty brand ice cream to purchase. Food: King Kong Monster Burger with Bacon with a name like that expected huge burger Yes it is 1/2 pounds but it doesn't seem like it, bacon was $2.47 extra but good Soup split pea with ham nice but potato salad could use some flavor. Good pit stop on the drive from Vegas. Waited about 25 minutes for a spot at the counter in the early afternoon, but it went by quick perusing the gift shop and diner-saur park :) Loved the vibes at the counter, very fun 50s vibe. The food and service were average, but a solid option for a roadtrip. read more

Cool stop on the way to Vegas (or coming back). Very old-school diner vibes and the environment is honestly the best part. The food wasn't amazing, but it also wasn't bad. It's more of a "stop for the experience" kind of place. Gift shop is right there when you're done, and it's fun to walk around and grab ice cream. Service wasn't the greatest, but overall it was a decent experience and worth doing once, especially for the nostalgia. read more

Peggy Sue's 50s Diner is located off of the I-15, which is on our way when we go and visit Las Vegas! We decided for this trip we were going to stop by and check it out on our way! The diner is a few turns as soon as you exit the highway. We went on a Sunday morning and the diner was pretty crowded. It looked like they had a old car meet-up going on in the other side of the parking lot, which was cool. When you go into the restaurant, you will find all kinds of cool pictures and old memorabilia from over the years! It was really cool seeing all of the pictures of Peggy Sue with different stars across the years. The only thing we didn't like was the vibe of the customers that were there. They all seemed very snobby and stuck-up. Not welcoming at all, but we just kept to ourselves and tried to enjoy our time there! We got a table pretty fast but while observing their seating process it seems like they have specific tables set aside for specific party sizes and will not seat you unless you are an exact fit to that number to maximize their space. Our server was very nice, she checked on us a few times throughout our time there. We ordered the Mockingbird Hill Breakfast which came with two eggs any style, with a choice of hashbrowns/ sliced tomatoes/ or cottage cheese, and your choice of toast/English muffin/ or biscuit and gravy. You van also opt in to adding meat to this breakfast and I chose bacon! My wife ordered the Travelers Special that came with eggs and style, 2 pancakes or French toast, and 3 bacon or sausage links. Our food came out VERY fast, I want to say it was less than 5 minutes from placing our order. The food looked really yummy but I honestly wouldn't give it a over the top rating, to me it is very average diner food. It was a yummy breakfast to fill us up on our other half of the trip to Vegas! Recommendations when visiting: Weekdays are probably going to be less crowded. Take some time to look around the restaurant, there are so many photos to see. There is a small gift shop to the left when entering, we did not check out but if you are visiting, this may be something to check out. Check out their menu in advance, it will make ordering faster and your food should come out fairly quick. I am giving 3 stars due to the food being very average and the overall atmosphere being a little uncomfortable for us. read more

Super fast and friendly service. Our waitress was super efficient and soooo sweet!!! She made the experience a 10/10. I haven't been to this place in such a long time and it literally has not changed but I love that. It was super busy! The place was packed!
