I had a wonderful phone conversation with the owner Ben who personally took my order. We agreed upon a date and time two weeks out since I was going to be out of town for the 4th of July week. They called while I was out of town to confirm the date and time (between 10-11 am) which was great! When I arrived to the store with my son around 11:15 because of the heavy traffic on 91W I went to the counter and was told by a young female that I needed to go to the pay counter. She was curt and not helpful. There was only three people ahead of me so no problem. But the elder gentleman in front of me, who was being helped by the young man who would eventually help me, took an exceptionally long time with his order. I'm just here to pay and pick up. No problem, I'll be patient and keep waiting. Two other costumers are helped by the female counter person and finally the elder customer leaves with his order and I'm next. The young male counter person then waits for me to initiate the conversation and doesn't greet me with a smile or hello or how can I help. I brush it off. I tell him I'm here to pick up my order, a whole pig and give him my last name. He fumbles around a few seconds and then asks how to spell my name and eventually finds my ticket order and asks what time. The time is written at the top of the ticket he failed to notice. I pay for the order. He mutters someone will be out with my order and disappears. No thank you, no attentiveness like he gave the older gentleman in front of me. Again, I've been in my car with my son for over two hours from San Diego in traffic and this fella couldn't give me five minutes of courtesy. I'm waiting, and waiting and waiting while others eventually come into the store and are being helped and leaving. The older female worker at the pay counter is still there helping customers while the younger female at the deli counter is now apparently on a break and making herself lunch. She stops momentarily when a customer comes in for deli service. I'm still waiting by the counter to make sure I'm at least acknowledged but I don't see the young male counter worker who apparently left for lunch since it's now noon. The older female worker can probably see on my face that I'm not happy and says to me he's working on my order. He? Who's he? I am just here to pay and pick order between 10-11. How much time and trouble could it be to put this order together which was made two weeks prior? A different gentlemen finally arrives with three boxes and two large paper bags that comprise my order. On the way out the older female worker says goodbye and was very courteous. At this point I'm pretty upset because this is not a large haul and this order could've easily been second and not 45 minutes! I arrive home after the two hour drive back home to SD and looking forward to the meat, especially the sausages and putting it into the freezer which I cleared out in preparation for the meat. My older son is home to help. As we are sorting and placing the meat I notice that there are no sausages. It's just sausage meat but no links. I guess it's my fault for assuming and not specifying sausage links on at peat some of the order. It was a huge letdown. I had array went out to purchase rolls and buns for a bbq this weekend and to have friends and family over. Oh well. You live and you learn. At least the bacon was great.

I originally placed my order and received my meat promptly. However, my order was missing a few items and they said they'd get it to me shortly. I also quickly realized that the ground beef was extremely course - leading to fat pools in a pan and flareups on the stove. So I reached out and they said they'd get that squared away too. Two months later, i am still missing meat and I haven't heard from them in weeks. I wish I could get some sort of refund but I paid by check. I will say that the quality of the beef itself is solid.

I really wanted to like 5 Bar We signed up for promo emails…read moreso we could get an idea of what it would be like to order/receive/taste ect We've been using another meat subscription company out of Idaho but wanted to try 5 bar since they're local to us We ordered an "August Box" after seeing a promo for $100 off We opted to pick up in person since we live down the street, we received individually packaged/frozen short ribs, steaks, ground beef and a brisket I was confused when I saw the processing date, we picked up on 8/10 but the date on most of the meat was 8/13, I figured maybe they post dated it for shipping orders, later I saw a September date and realized all the meat was processed in 2024 All the meet received was around a year old No where on the website/promo did it mentioned a time frame so not entirely their fault but the other subs meat is only about a month old when we receive it (and this is bc there's a 21 day aging process) Idk if it's bc it's grass fed/finished or freezer burn but this meat just tastes different, not bad but different The other issue is the cuts don't have consistency so it's hard to cook things together I'm glad we gave them a shot and wish them the best but won't be buying again
