I MUST tell you/ they have the Best Hot Dogs -EVER!!!! Go to their meat counter and get the clear, plain wrapper hot dogs that They make- they should be World famous. Better than anything else, and I am not the only person who drives miles just for them. They also are a Full service farm & Game meat processor, and are the Only one I would use to do that kind of thing other than doing myself, because they use stricter protocols than just about all the other butchers on the West coast. This isn't the place that I've been going to for 4 1/2 years. Today I went in for a bag of ice. I have a guest coming for the weekend and if I buy ice I from Vons or Ralph's. I have extra bags that I pour out in the parking lot. I needed either bottle of wine or a six pack of beer. They no longer carry the beer I like so I don't go back there Hess. Today I needed the ice I went in and got my ice and a six pack of beer got to the counter, the guy was mumbling cigarettes not relating to my order. Is he crazy? I had a six pack of beer and a bag of ice. Not complicated I don't know what language you spoke maybe Muslim or some thing but he was mumbling about cigarettes while I was standing there. I was concerned because I was not buying cigarettes. I ask him to make the purchase for a pack of beer and bag of ice. Beer at $13 and a bag of ice. He said was over $19. I got out to my jeep and I saw that I had been overcharged by this knucklehead . I went back in to the store to complain and he told me that that was a CV tax well that's what he put in his pocket. He told me when I went back in the ice was three dollars a bag small bag single bag. Beer $13 plus tax. Ca sucks but this bad yet! I was pissed to be ripped off. Maybe this place sold 2 years ago. It isn't the same. There's no women that work here anymore or that we were there today and I enjoy the women they are friendly and get customers service. I haven't been happy since the guy in the butcher shop with the blonde hair and baseball cap left. The guys back there now are rude it's a horrible place to shop. I have no reason to get a steak there because you can go to Black Angus for a terrible half inch steak badly done . I'm due I figure about $5 bucks. I'll not see that. Never step foot I. Stopped by in person to buy a steak, prices were as high as Major Market or Whole Foods. Most steaks were wrapped in plastic and cut in roast size to keep longer. This review concerns having a San Pasqual Ag pig butchered. It took 7 weeks to receive my pork and what was boxed up and delivered did not match the invoice. Because of the length of time it took to get smoking supplies,, I speculate that the pork I eventually received isn't even the pig that was dropped off. Also, the hanging weight of 323 claimed on the invoice would mean the pig weighed over 400lbs live when the Ag student weighed and charged me based on 300lbs. That would be a 100lb error! Additionally, the bacon was not marked as smoked the way the ham was, so there's nothing to indicate that I got the right bacon. I didn't receive the 15, 2lb packages listed on the invoice. I only received 14, 1lb packages. Overall, I only received 51% product and sites on the web lists 60 to 75% with 60 being for bonkers cuts, which mine are not. I have tried for 2 weeks to reach out to the owner with numerous calls and a faxed letter; however, she is never in. It is not clear to me why workers aren't at minimum fulfilling what is on the invoice. Perhaps this notice will reach someone. The store has my contact info. The next steps are The BBB and small claims court. San Pasqual HS and other schools may want to consider taking their business elsewhere. I stopped by their deli after a long hike in Daley Ranch. I ordered a philly sandwich and was starving from the hike. There was so little meat and veggies on my sandwich that I literally had to push it all into about 1/3 of the bread to have a proper meat/ bread ratio. 9" sub, literally had 6" of bread left. $13 dollars for about 2 oz. of ingredients. My buddy ordered the $7 meatball sandwich and it was just the opposite. So much meat that he couldn't possibly eat it. He ended up giving me a couple of the meatballs out of his sandwich out of pity. read more

Watch out for this place! They tend to make mistakes, and do not give you all your meat, or you get back parts of another pig or cow. (Not your own animal) The pieces of meat also do not match up to a complete animal and the packaging is mislabeled. They're nice people, but not recommended for butchering your animals. It was a very disappointing experience and I cannot be entirely sure they did not take pieces of my organic raised farm animals on purpose. Been going here since I was a kid, they've come a long way. They now have a legit deli counter that serves burgers and other good stuff.

They offer a wide selection of quality meats and will take orders for any cuts if they don't have them on hand. The price is a little higher than other places, but the quality is superb. My issue with this place is the lady at the register who offers some of the worst service I've seen. Seems disinterested in being there and helping anyone out. read more

They only had 2 New York cuts left. I thought they were pretty small and a cross between select and choice. I opted for the ribeye. Extra $2/lb, even picked the pc. Got home, opened it up, the sucka gave me a ny steak but they charged me for ribeye. How about this, if your gonna hire kids, at least train them? The cut doesn't look like anything better than what Von's sells, but just more expensive. It's like a corner store that carries things, just nothing special things. I'm glad they open at 6 AM. I got the marinated carne asada and pollo asada. My friend said the chicken turned out good. The carne asada was $6.99 a pound. One pack was around 1 1/3 lbs. I put it in the pan straight from the freezer, then baked it, then unraveled it while baking and turning (it's one long piece). The next day I simmered it in a pot to make it even softer. Pretty tasty overall. I was going to get filet mignon but it was $19.99 a pound. I'm not a baller so I'll have to wait until that goes on sale or something. read more

My family had been stopping by this shop for years. As a child, I never knew the name of the place, we always just referred to it as "The Corner Store". It used to be a little drab of a place, but they always had the best meats at the deli. The deli is very nice, they used to give us free bones to give to our dogs when we bought some of the fresh meat. Now, it seems to be under new ownership and they have really fixed the place up. I hear they may even start selling a wider variety of fresh sandwiches. (If the owners are reading this, you should sell chili dogs. The buns and dogs you sell would go perfectly with the chili you sell!) It's a great little store. The workers have always been nice and the prices have almost always been fair. Specialty Meats really impressed me. I stopped in mid March at the beginning of the pandemic. The other grocery stores had empty shelves and long lines as a result of Covid and panic buying. Specialty Meats had plenty of meat and deli selection in the cases, bread on the shelves, and really friendly staff. I was able to pick up a tri tip, deli items, bread, and some fruit and vegetables. This place is great! Compares to Iowa Meat farms in a keeping it real kinda way- solid meat selection, home made interesting sausages and even venison in the frozen case.
