Thirty years I've been buyings stuff from here. I'm a certified GC and roof contractor. I bought a case of sealant and wanted to return the left over tubes. They refused to take them, stating they were cold. Yes, cold. Sales guy said it's no longer any good. Temperature was 58 degrees. Also, one "black" color got mixed in and they refused it (initially) because black was not on the receipt, even though they all were bought at the same time. The sales clerk coped an attitude and then return with this sales guy (who stated he has never applied urethane sealant before). Extremely rude. Home Depot/Lowes would take them all back, without question. So, my days are done with Jimmy Coe and his band of knuckleheads. Another interesting fact: Pensacola Hardware has "opted out" of Facebook reviews. That alone should speak volumes for this business. I have no idea why Yelp says I'm in San Fransisco. This place is huge with an excellent selection of paint and hardware supplies, kitchen items, outdoor recreational items, and local souvenirs. It's clear that the staff are not only knowledgeable about their products but intentional with what they stock (I saw lots of items I haven't seen in larger chain stores). It's a well-curated space where you can't help but notice lots of little details -- a big bear, deer on the wall, old photos, a display showcasing the different kinds of barbed wire fences from the 1800s. It all provides the character I like to experience when I'm shopping or dining out. It reminds you that you're visiting a family business with lots of history in the community. I also loved their restored antique strollers -- perfect for pushing little ones through the aisles at great speed depending on how busy it is! read more

I have been shopping in this store for 40 years, Service is always been Great. I went in a brought a generic 16" replacement chain saw blade. However it did not fit my 16" chain saw. As I always do I did not rip the package open so when it did not fit I simply put in back into the package. When I went to return it they said the do not do returns. So as much as I love to do business with hometown business this is one I will never go to again. I know of no retailer that will not take a brand new item back. especially a generic item that is supposed to fit. 16" is 16".. read more

Great selection of unique items. They have everything from wind chimes to grilles to kitchen cutlery to fire place accessories to lawn equipment. I bought wind chimes here a few years ago and the sound exactly like church bells. Staff is great. They answered my questions and gave great explanations. I drive by this place every morning and check out their window displays. I had a feeling that it would be a neat store but might not have all the things the big box retailers like Lowe's might have, but I was wrong. Not only do they have a large selection, but they also carry many contractor items that you cannot get (or even special order) at big box retailers. Pensacola Hardware not only could get what I needed, but they had it in stock, and knew exactly what I would need to make it all work and walked me through the installation process. 20 years ago we bought an old house just a few blocks from Pensacola Hardware and ran a restaurant downtown for 8 years so PH became our favorite go to store for hardware and plumbing items, especially odd sizes and hard to find stuff the big box stores don't carry. What we love best about the store is that most of the staff have worked there for over 20 years and not only do they greet you by name when you walk in, they know immediately what is in stock and take the time to show you where things are. They carry a great paint selection and will order almost anything you need if it isn't in stock. I really want to help local businesses like this, but they just can't compete with Lowe's or Home Depot. They recommended a product to me, and when it didn't work, I went back to ask politely for a refund. They told me there was nothing they could do about it. Home Depot or Lowe's would have accepted the refund no questions asked. They can afford to have that type of customer service. Unfortunately, this hardware store lost a customer because they would refund a $12 purchase. I always try to support these types of businesses, but there are good reasons why they're being wiped out by bigger corporations. read more

Brought a broken Wright socket to Pensacola Hardware to exchange under Wright's warranty and the moron working there refused to exchange it since I didn't purchase the socket there. He was extremely rude and obnoxious and told me I don't know what I'm talking about. I called Wright Tool and they told me it should have been swapped by Pensacola Hardware. Luckily, Wright Tool is shipping me a replacement so I don't have to have any further dealing with PH. I will never step foot in this joke of an establishment again. read more

I bought a smoker from Home Depot and it turned out to be missing some brackets to hold up the inner pieces. Rather than go through the hassle of dismantling it and exchanging it and all that, I just stopped in a local hardware store to find some. Well, me being stupid, forgot to take measurements or anything. I forget the guys name who helped me, but he took the time to lead me around the store to make sure I got the right pieces. Spent about fifteen minutes of his time to help me with a lousy three dollar sale. It just goes to show that you should always stop into your local shops first. Great staff, great service.
