I cannot comprehend how they can fit everything I need in such a small store without it feeling overly cramped -- but they do it well here! They will give honest recommendations for what you ask and will not try to upsell you on products just to make an extra buck. They are more focused on earning loyal, returning customers than creating a bad experience with higher sales. The mix of friendliness, honestly, and helpfulness has turned me into a loyal, returning customer for anything and everything I can purchase here.

When I brought it back that afternoon for help in starting it, the man who had sold it to me was very unprofessional, with a complete lack of people skills. He got angry and contradicted me, claiming to know everything since he'd been to Stihl "school". But he was wrong. Stihl's own directions for breaking in a new saw contradict what he said. Where do they find these people? I hope I don't ever have to go back there again.

A few days later we began to actually start shopping for the remodel and I went there just to take a look as I had more or less made my selections online with Lowes and Home Depot. Sooooo glad I did and so grateful that I got to deal with John the manager. He was not only super helpful and knowledgeable but had a great eye for design. I changed my vanities from MDF at Home Depot to something almost the same but in solid wood and saved over $400 on each. The tops were Uba Tuba granite with a square inlaid sink and again were almost half price. Then we saw the shower door of my dreams! Maxx frameless, super clean looking and $350 cheaper than Home Depot. Having chosen the vanities that were in antique white we used a sample door to try and find suitable tiles. In the end John himself agreed that they had nothing that worked particularly well and allowed me to take the door for half a day so that I could go elsewhere to find the right tiles. Every time I had to purchase something from faucets to toilet roll holders I went there first and John was the first to say that they could not help me if I had a specific request. Never once did he try to 'sell' me a product. When the vanities were delivered and the backsplash cracked there was no fuss or quibble.... went right to the others in stock and swapped them out. I thought initially it was some cheap outlet but the products I purchased were all high end and of great quality and price. I probably saved about $1300 on items bought here rather than Home Depot. In fact I was able to get exactly what I wanted within my budget. Without Surplus Warehouse I would probably have had to scale back somewhat. The staff are very nice and helpful but if you want helpful with design ideas see John. Strongly recommend.

I haven't been able to find a good deal at all. Actually, some of the very same materials I bought previously for $5 dollars a box is now for $30, $35, and $50 dollars. This store was always full of customers and now it's always empty. And I've noticed that people are not donating as much as they used to either. I'll drive a little further to get good deals since there isn't much competition in this area. I've spent thousands of dollar at this store previously but I don't like to spend my money frivolously. I think this is a local problem because I've been to the same store in other states and they're fairly priced.
