Crude, but super efficient. I had them move for me last night. 2b2b, roommate situation. From a second floor apartment to a third floor apartment. They were with done packing, disassembling and re-assembling, and moving all within 3 hours. They were late by an hour, but there was rain so it was understandable. They wasted little time once they arrived and all of our stuff arrived in one piece. It might help out if you speak Mandarin. My roommate who is not a Mandarin speaker had trouble communicating with them. But he mostly had to point where stuff needs to go, so language barrier hardly mattered. I did give them a 72% tip, since it was raining the entire move. However, even after the tip, they are still cheaper than most other places who quoted me. Short review: I had the absolute worst experience with Skyy Moving. These guys should not be in the moving business. They were dishonest, rude and extremely incompetent. The movers did not have any spatial intelligence and had no idea how to turn large furniture around corners or tight spaces and will try to squeeze your stuff in without caring about whether it scratches/breaks/tears on the sides; all the while constantly bickering with each other loudly in Mandarin about how the other one is not doing a good job. It would have been hilarious if it weren't for my stuff being ripped apart due to their incompetence. I understand that most people hire them because they are cheap; but in my opinion - you don't even get what you pay for. Here's the complete story:- Two people showed up with a big truck 30 mins prior to the appointment time and told me that they are a busy company so I will have to start early. Fair enough... The first thing they moved was my coffee table, which was wrapped in two thin layers of plastic (yep); it was picked up by one person using the foot of the table as he hobbled down the stairs. I had to ask him if he needed my help in holding it up and he told me that I need not worry. The table somehow made its way to the truck. Oh and they had those huge blankets in the truck. You know...the ones that you use to move stuff with to ensure nothing breaks/cracks/rips/tears? I guess it wasn't needed for glass... Next; they wrapped my couch with the same plastic and tried to make their way out of the door. I told them they would need to unscrew the ceiling lamp to be able to fit the couch vertically through the door. I was again told to not worry. After struggling for sometime they realized they have to unscrew the ceiling lamp to get the couch out. *facepalm* At this point, I was already a bit anxious about letting them handle my expensive couch and told them to get more blankets to wrap the parts of the couch that were exposed. "Don't worry it is okay". They promptly went on to scratch the armrest of the couch against the side of the stairs and ripped a hole in the bottom of my couch. When my girlfriend asked them to stop, they continued bickering with each other loudly, continued to push the couch through and completely ignored her. Sorry to call this out, but there was a certain lack of respect towards women from the crew and it showed in the way they were responding to my girlfriend. We had to shout at them to get them to keep the couch down. At this point I was certain that they were incapable of handling this and called their manager to complain about the ripped couch. After a few back and forth calls between them, their manager told me that the couch ALREADY had the hole and they did not rip it! When I confronted the guys, they pretended to not understand what I was trying to tell them. Instead, one guy told me: "You are a man, not a woman, why you care about small hole in couch!?" RUN! People should avoid using their service, they charged me 2 times more than what we originally discussed. From $370 to $729. They are taking advantage of people especially during these special times..请大家小心，特别是留学生! Here is my honest review and my own experience dealing with this company, it also has the name "Sky Moving LLC" or "金源搬家". Originally, the owner gave me this rate: $90 per hour for 2 movers, 3 hours minimum, +$40 gas + $10 tip per person every hour, so that's $370 in total. I asked the owner how long it would take to move my STUDIO (remember this, just a studio for myself), and if 3 hours is enough. She said yes it is enough. I even sent her photos of my studio letting her know all my stuff are laying around, and the movers need to help pack them. She said no problem, they will pack everything for me and put in a box, that's the full service they will provide. I provided details of my studio and apartment complex, it's located on the 2nd floor in a building in Berkeley, with no elevator. And I need to move all my stuff to my friend's garage In Mountain View. She knows all the information and the details and said no worries at all. The day before the scheduled move, she suddenly told me she will charge extra for the boxes. It's $3 per small boxes and $15 for large boxes. She said she can hold the money as a deposit and return to me once I am done using the boxes. I was confused and concerned at why didn't she mention it to me at the beginning? But then I thought if it's just a deposit, then it's fair. On the day of the move, since I am not physically present there, I asked two friends to be in Berkeley to help me out. My friends told me the movers were late for 20 minutes, and they seemed like they were dragging the time intentionally when they were packing and moving my stuff. They also noticed there were several large furniture items that were already in the truck that does not belong to me, which is really strange. The movers were constantly forgetting stuff in my apartment to pack even though my friend told them everything needs to go, the movers would leave my apartment 15 minutes every time they missed something and my friends would have to call them to come back again to pick up stuff, even when they thought they packed everything and was trying to leave, there was still stuff left in the apartment. They wasted a lot of time on here back on forth. The movers also left several large holes on my wall and ripped the paint when moving stuff, who is going to pay for the damage of the apartment? When they thought they packed everything up, and was ready to leave and head to Mountain View, the driver told me it would only take 40 minutes to get there. However, they took more than 1.5 hours to get there. They took another 1.5 hours just to unload stuff to my friend's garage, I didn't even ask them to install any furniture back up, but still, they took such a long time for just unloading. After everything is finished, the owner called me and told me in total they used 6 hours, but since they were late at the beginning she will give me a discount for 5.5 hours. I questioned her how come she said it would only take 3 hours in the beginning? She started yelling and screaming at me saying I don't trust her and accusing me of not being grateful for their service, she is doing me a favor. She even brought up she is a proud Christian and she will never scam me for my money. However, in fact she did. Ask yourself, who would take 6 HOURS in total just to move a studio?! I couldn't bear for her to keep screaming and accusing me saying it's all my fault (yes she said the client is at fault), I was forced to pay $729 in total with the boxes, almost 2 times than what we initially discussed at $370. After what happened, I was quite angry and cried even... I asked several other moving companies and told them what happened, and if the rate she charged me at the end was reasonable. They were all shocked by what they heard and told me that's not reasonable at all, the owner has no right to drag the time from 3 hours to 6 hours! Sometimes when they move a 2 bedroom and 2 baths apt, it would only take 2 hours to pack, how come when it comes to my studio, it would take 6 hours?! I told the owner and listed 7 valid points to prove my claim that she was charging me at an unreasonable price, and I am asking for a 50% refund. She keeps finding nonsense excuses accusing me instead. I am considering legal actions to further protect myself from a company like them. Skyy helped me move last weekend! They arrived early, which is always a good sign in my book! They were very friendly, and were very careful with all my belongings. My only complaint is that although I felt I was pretty clear with the company about the amount of stuff I would be moving, the truck my movers brought was very small, and so they had to do two trips, which obviously is not ideal when you're paying someone by the hour. All things considered though, great work at an extremely reasonable price! The movers worked straight through without taking any breaks and didn't hustle us for a bigger tip at the end. The first time in my life I was threatened for tip. Two guy worked 4 hours, I wanted to give them $40/each. Then they asked for $100 each with very bad attitude. Same as another review said that they ask for very high tip. I paid because I was scared. They are crimer. Be away from this company. I hope I can get out from this nightmare. read more

Their service sucks! I scheduled a moving service recently, and I could not imagine a worse experience. First of all, they showed up 6 hours late. When they arrived, it is already too late, so I finished all the small stuff including kitchen, clothes and small boxes on my own. I only hope they can finish moving the big furniture. It is only one bedroom plus living room, and not that many furniture pieces, to be honest. It took them 3.5 hours to finish it. They also gave my mattress a lot of black stains and other scratches on the furniture. At the end, I was so angry and did not want to give them big tips, and two movers were super unhappy and tried to ask for more tips. There's definitely a communication issue, as they didn't know what time to show up. I just found them waiting outside 30 min. before the appointment time that they had confirmed earlier via text. It helps if you speak Mandarin. Everything was great at the beginning. They were fast, careful, and everything was packaged nicely. They had the lowest rate compared to others, didn't charge for supplies and were generous when marking start-end times. The part that totally made me uncomfortable was the tip, which was mentioned in other reviews. They had charged me less time than actual (which I guess they use to report to their boss) in exchange for a bigger tip. I gave them a 17% tip, and I can't believe it but they countered and asked for a 78% tip. 78%!!! I definitely didn't have that much cash on me but I gave them as generous as I could and it left a very bad taste. Taking into account their low rates, no charge for supplies and crazy tip demands, it comes out to be about the same as other movers. So in summary, they do a good job, cost about the same as other movers, and there's a language barrier unless you speak Mandarin. read more

I have made my appointment in advance for 5 days. But they still made a huge mistake about my appointment, they contact me to change my moving time because they have arranged two appointments at the same time. They try to negotiate with me about the time, finally I agreed to change my schedule because I'm not in a rush, I chose to don't make too much trouble for them. HOWEVER, what they did to me is totally unfair! Based on they had been arranged wrong time, before they come I made a double check for my appointment time. They told me no problem, they will be right there on time. But I waste my whole day for waiting for them. From 3pm delayed to 7pm! They didn't give me any reasonable explanation. When I made the appointment I could not get any kind of confirmation other than sure. That probably should've been a sign. They were prompt and on time ready and eager to start moving. However, we noticed right away there was a language barrier. As said before they were great guys but there was really nobody who could speak English. We kept asking them to do certain things or when the items are put into storage to put them certain way and they would not do it. We're guessing it's because they didn't understand. When everything was all done we gladly paid them. Then they were insisting on Tips which we would have done but then they kept insisting more and more and more. Great pricing! No other moving company could match their hourly price. We used Skyy when we were moving from San Francisco to Marin, (3 bed 2 ba). They were 15 minutes early and were fast (no breaks) at completing the move. They moved all of my furniture (some antiques) with more than adequate packing material to ensure all of my furniture avoided any damage. There was a slight language issue (speaking Mandarin/broken English) but all we needed to do was point and they placed my furniture in the rooms and places I told them. They were quite the experienced movers I have ever encountered and yes we have moved several times over the last couple of years. I disagree with those reviewers who felt they did not do a good job. Sadly there are competing companies who may write a false review. All in all, I recommend their moving service. We will definitely call them again whenever we need their service.
