I've been wanting to try People's Coffee, and I'm so glad I did! This is a cute coffee shop that focuses on using local distributors. They offer locally ground coffee and baked goods from the area. The menu offers standard coffee/drinks faire, but also offers the very tasty and unique option of smashed waffles. I think overall the food is high quality. I really liked the taste of the waffles I ordered, and I thought my drink was tasty. However, it doesn't get a 5-star rating, because it's not my absolute favorite coffee shop in the area. It's pretty good for drinks and food, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. There's limited seating indoors, but a good amount of outdoor seating near the parking lot. Lastly, the location is convenient. It's right down the street from Southpoint mall. read more

The place is so cute! Went here for Saturday breakfast and coffee and their coffee was good, nothing spectacular. The waffles though were my favorite! It's a cute coffee shop, supporting local and a place to get your work done. The service was so kind and patient with me and she even gave me some of her favorites as it was my first time there. I'd go back to this place! It was great to sit outside, sip on coffee and hang out with my dog. read more

I've been 4 times now and every time the waffles were charred so hard it was inedible... The last time I got coffee it was also sour and when I asked for extra syrup willing to pay the extra cost I was told by the man working it's not possible..??? I will say they do play good music but as I was sitting waiting for my food I noticed over a handful of dead flies in the fridge... it was repulsive. I also noticed how the trash was overflowing into the sugar packets. I will never return here. Very unorganized and unsanitary. Also, if you touch food please wear gloves. The same man who said he couldn't add more syrup to my drink was what looked like rolling some kind of dough with no gloves.... Disgusting. read more

People's reminds me of Jubala, which is way too far away now that I live in ChatCo, in all the best ways - the single-origin offerings are so smooth and delicious, and these people make a perfect iced caramel latte without making it saccharine. I wish the storefront were a little bigger, cause I'd love to work there occasionally, but it feels a bit too cramped for that to me. (Such little tables!) read more

It's a good place - don't let the stars dissuade you from stopping by. This is a scene that you really have to judge for yourself. Mall parking, easy enough to find. It's quite small, connected to a bar/restaurant for some reason. Counter seating and very skinny tables line the walls. Also, some interesting partner products in a glass case. My issue is with how pricey everything is. My double espresso was $6. Wow. Was it a double pull? It didn't LOOK like 4 espressos. And even if it was, that's not what I asked for. Not to praise Starbucks, but their doubles are less than half the price. I prefer indy coffee houses, but situations like this make it difficult to support them. But it tasted pretty good. read more

This place was ok, not the best but not the worst coffee. My Dirty Chai Latte was a little on the milky side but it woke me up which was what I wanted in the first place. We did wait a little longer than anticipated for our coffees because it was rather busy. It was a quick pass through so I suppose we won't be coming back since we are not from the area. read more

I really enjoyed this coffee shop. They offer Black and White Coffee Roasters as their main coffee source, which is one of my favorite roasters period. I typically get a pour over at coffee shops (when offered) as I love the specialty coffee scene, and this place did it right with great coffee extraction. I also tried their breakfast burrito which was tasty and had a little kick. All in all, I am glad I tried this place and I look forward to going back again when I am in the area! read more

Terrible coffee, terrible waffles, and the WORST customer service I've ever experienced. I asked them to remake a raw undercooked waffle and was shocked at being accused of eating too much of the waffle (1 bite) and wanting a free one. Not to mention the iced latte had chunks of solid caramel in it, making it impossible to drink. I would never visit this coffee shop again because of the staff alone. read more

The space and decor are pretty simple, but the drinks and food are decidedly above average. They've been introducing more food dishes like avocado toast, breakfast burritos, sweet potato hash, etc. Besides the usual coffee drinks they have some original fare like a dirty horchata (horchata with a shot of espresso) and some original lemonade drinks. When the weather is nice, they also open up a window to the sidewalk and set up barstools. I'm not a huge coffee drinker but this place is growing on me. read more

Beautiful place with tons of parking around. You walk in and you see the doodle wall and it's beautiful. There's a long table you work at and one by the window. The other seating area is lower so you have to place your laptop on your lap. There's free WiFi and the coffee is great. They also have pastries in the back. They have a small menu where you can find chia pudding, overnight oats, and balls with health in it. Great overall and the instrumental music is not too loud. read more

Full disclosure: I am not a coffee drinker, but I enjoy non-coffee drinks (chai latte, matcha latte, London fog, etc.) I stopped by here early in the pandemic and tried the iced chai latte, and it was pretty good. They had a walk-up window you could pick your drink up from which was great. I stopped by this past weekend again - this time I tried the matcha latte. They really do make beautiful drinks, with a great froth level. It wasn't sweet at all which I'm used to, but maybe that's a good thing! There is a charge for non-dairy milks, and prices are about $5-6 for about a 12oz latte. Their window was closed this time, however, so you have to go inside. There were signs requiring masks and staff were wearing masks; however they are now allowing people to dine in. When you eat/drink, of course, you are not required to wear a mask. I felt super uncomfortable waiting in line and then for my drink because I've been in isolation since March and the space didn't feel big enough to be safe near people speaking across tables to their friends without wearing masks. They also had waffle samples out in the open, which didn't feel safe in the room tight space, but again I've been in pretty strict quarantine. The staff was super friendly, and I think it's still a great option for those people who do feel safe stopping by in-person in tight spaces. I'll probably wait to try them again post-COVID, just wish I had known beforehand, so just sharing my experience for others! read more

Go for the coffee, stay for the waffles. There wasn't many flavorings for lattes, although the coffee was good-- but not great. I would prefer darker, richer coffees from a coffee shop, but their waffle-sandwiches were great for a yummy light breakfast. It is a one man kitchen, so it was a bit slower from how long I thought it would be ready. It took about 10-15 mins before we got our 3 waffle breakfast sandwiches. One aspect of this coffee shop that I love is the aesthetic. I love walking in and taking in the minimalist, clean feel. It is thoughtful decorated and I can really appreciate it. The seating is well spread out and even though there is almost always a decent amount of people there, it never feels crowded. I go here because it is located close to my home but it is also consistently delicious. Coming from a coffee snob, their coffee is GOOD. I always order a pour over and I'm never disappointed. Their coffee is from Black & White Coffee Roasters which personally I think is the best in the area. Another thing that is unique about this coffee shop is their food (!!!). It's actually delicious! I have had their breakfast sandwich and quinoa salad. Both did not disappoint. Very impressive especially for a coffee shop. They not only offer coffee but tea, kombucha, and brunch! Some of the employees aren't very knowledgeable about coffee but I think it's because the shop is owned by the burger joint next door. Really good latte. Barista was very kind and very good. We were not aware of the mask mandates and walked in without a mask. A worker came around the corner like a Principal in a High School calling us out on it. We happily walked outside and waited for our beverages. Kindness goes a long way. So pleasantly surprised by this sweet spot! I ran in real quick for an iced latte, and not only was the coffee delicious, but the customer service was superb! There was one person manning the register and the espresso machine, and she had it down. I really like the coffee here. It is very good. Never burned and always fresh. Have never had their food but it looks pretty okay. The only downfall to this place is the seating. Its somewhat limited, granted the place is small, but what seating is there isn't super comfortable and the service can very from really great to just fine. Not sure what else to say about this place as there is not much to it. Good fresh coffee, adequate to good service and a mildly uncomfortable seating environment. But I will say that any chance I get to get some coffee from People's Coffee I get it because it is really good. Definitely in my top-three places for coffee in the Raleigh-Durham area. read more

I really want to love this place, but the two times I have visited, the coffee has had ZERO taste! We're talkin warm water that looks like coffee, but every sip had me stunned to not find a hint of coffee flavor. My wife ordered a pour-over while I ordered another drip coffee on my 2nd visit, thinking the 1st visit must have been a fluke. Neither drink had any distinct coffee flavor! 2 stars because they have a nice space with walnut tables and a fun mural, pleasant staff and decent food and pastry options. But how can you open a coffee shop without good (or even passable) coffee?! Kind of baffling. I can't be the only one who has experienced this. I believe this issue can be fixed, easily. Such a nice place - they have a very open and pretty outdoor space with a bunch of tables and cute fake grass. Though the food/drinks were a bit pricy, everything tasted really good! My mom's favorite was the waffle - super chewy and sweet :D read more

I am seriously in love with this coffee shop. The clean and minimal aesthetics and delicious coffee (served on Joe Sink mugs) makes the stop worth it. It's a great place to study or catch up with friends. The baristas were all very helpful and friendly. I love the natural light that comes into the shop. They also have different seating areas like the bar tables , low tables, and just a regular (?) sized table perfect for studying. Their pastries were really good and fresh while their coffee, roasted from B&W, had a high quality taste. They use videri chocolates for their mochas and I've had it iced : so yummyyy with a slight hint of sweetness. read more

Stopped in during their opening week and loved the place! It is decorated so cute and has such a calm aesthetic. I also love how responsive they are on social media! I saw that they added food options to their menu and so I had asked if they could share that with me. They were so quick to respond, and I can't wait to stop by again to try some more of their items.
