2/8/26 Nauseating. I RARELY ever do reviews but when something is SO wrong... I believe if you are a truly ethical and moral person, you want to help keep others from being a victim. This was just so basic... and a" cut & dry" situation with a NATIONAL FRANCHISE that HAS to have standards and transparency in place. Please don't go here & waste your time, money, finances, & emotional energy. This took up my entire day dealing with this... recourse and all. We took my car to Pep Boys to get a battery yesterday. The AAA guy had JUST charged my battery & told us we could get a better battery from another vendor and MAX $$ with labor he said should cost @$350..probably less. He said he used to work at a dealership & and said don't go there (as we all know they tend to charge a huge premium). So... we went to Pep Boys AT: ***4960 Atlanta Highway, Alpharetta where Justin B. stood behind his computer (HINDSITE-- thinking how much can I gauge this woman..)and quoted $655.99 for the BATTERY itself (yes, story gets better). I said "WHAT???" He says to us "Well...I don't know where the AAA guy is getting his prices from.. things are a lot more expensive these days." ( VERY Ironically, two other family members had just gotten their batteries replaced.. for around $280 total..comparable vehicles at other places..but still) He then said "well I don't have it in stock, but I can get it for you tomorrow." I 'll just need your key AND FULL PAYMENT before you go b/c if you decide to go somewhere else we cannot use the battery." He tells me that with labor, the cost is $825.44. & wants my card. "What? $825.44? So, a 94R battery and install $825.44. ?". SO labor is $111.60 to replace a battery? "Yes" We even talked to him about trying to go somewhere else bc that was WAY WAY more than we could imagine a battery & intall like this should be..& of course the trust factor was close to zero at this point. I had a pit in my stomach. Just the principal of the matter & feeling victimized was enough to make me feel sick. We stepped outside and discussed among ourselves, but it was late day & cold and windy &while we tried calling some other vendors there were waits on the phone triage as with every place..& we were going to check out Autozone, a tires & battery store, etc.,.Yet something inside me also said "ok this is a National Franchise..& if this particular store & guy is totally deceiving me/us... then there should be some recourse. We went back in & said we were going to leave the car & he reached out for my credit card and charged me....$825.44... and I said this is crazy. As I stepped back to leave he yelled out ... "oh we typically just go ahead and replace BOTH batteries.. the dual batteries.. at the same time cause when you have a problem with one they usually go out at the same time... the stop start battery". Ok yes I was/am familiar with the Stop start.. but I thought to myself... I don't have my car set to use the stop start feature, so we didn't think this would be affected, but just for kicks ... I say "oh, so how much is THAT battery?" he says..."over $200.00". So at this point I think he was gathering I might not be quite as stupid as he thought I was & knowing I had witness to all of this. So I said.. "ok well would you please call us when the battery comes in bc I/we would like to see what you mean when you test the battery. "ok" he says. VM today 12:46PM from Justin that my car "does not hv the stop start battery... & that my car is ready." (He tried to...but) I called 4 other local Pep Boys this AM. They were all shocked. The battery is $279.95 and labor is $19.95 +/- two dollars. This is a very standard common battery. None charged upfront for this svc. No store charges to get this battery. Did massive research on this today. DO NOT GO TO THIS PEP BOYS. This world is corrupt. For any of you wondering if there is a God...and will we go to Heaven or Hell ... I am sure there is a GOD. I am sure there is a heaven and Hell. I also just read what is felt will be be a National Best Seller for any age, religion, etc. It will make you think twice about where you stand and what you represent in life. It was JUST released on Amazon. "Are the Gospels True: The Forensic Evidence". The book is phenomenal. It will really make one think about how he/she treats one another in this very short life. There are good people out there. You have to find them. Stick with the sheep and not the goats. read more

Had a 11:00 appointment for an alignment. Was told 2 hours. Returned at 1:00 and alignment wasn't started. Was told an appointment only got me in line. Wasted 2 hours of my day. Poor management and am contacting corporate office. read more

I've taken both my cars to this Midway location for roughly 2 years. I've gotten nothing but professionalism, competence and great customer service for each visit. My service has ranged from oil changes to new tires and pre-purchase diagnostics. I highly recommend this outfit. Ask for Justin. He's a good man. read more

My 19 yo son was charged $156 for an oil change/tire rotation for a 2011 dodge caliber today at Pep Boys in midway on Atlanta Highway. He wasn't told a price for a basic oil change when he dropped it off otherwise we could have taken it elsewhere. I would give them negative stars if I could. read more

Took a used car there to have it checked before I bought it. Report showed that AC was fine and blowing 55 degrees. It was cold that day so I couldn't really tell. As soon as it warmed up it seemed AC wasn't cold. Turns out compressor was dead and it'll cost $1000 to fix. So the mechanic lied on the report about checking the AC, and again when I asked him about it in person. I wouldn't have bought the car and if I'd known it was broken. Don't trust these guys. read more

Had all four tires replaced and paid for the full service. My wife noticed light on the dashboard and when I checked it out, it was showing that all four tire pressure sensors were not working. I dropped in and explained the situation and they told me to bring it back when an oil change is due and or tire rotation and they would take a look. Took it back today for the oil change and rotation and asked for them to look at the TPS problem. They said that all four sensors are not detected and this is because the batteries in each of them are dead and that they would charge us $180 per tires to fit new sensors (this was for the parts only and they would cover the labor) Not only do I find it hard to believe that the batteries in each sensor just happen to die when they fitted four new tires, but to add insult they want to charge us $720 for four sensors when I can buy them from Amazon for $55 for a pack of four!! This location simply has no integrity and are over charging excessively for parts. Avoid this location at all cost!!! read more

The greeting and up-front customer service needs a little working, as in, greet the person that just came in the door and ask them what they need instead of just standing there. But after the initial stare down...the actual work was done correctly and quickly. I just needed a balance on my tires (that the Pepboy's location on Holly Springs Pkwy in Woodstock royally effed up) and they did that correctly and quickly. My car runs smooth as glass now. Garbage people, garbage prices, garbage attitude. Overpriced and don't honor quotes or online ads. Go elsewhere.

Went to pep boys with a flat tire- i had the spare on the vehicle. Arrived at 5:30 and it was obvious how busy they were and I was worried my tire might not get replaced by the time they closed at 7:00. James assured me to just drop the keys and they would have it repaired or replaced before they closed. Not even an hour later he called back and said it was fixed and that there was a nail in the tire. When I asked how much- he said "free", and told me that is a service Pep Boys offers when there is a nail or the tire needs to be patched. I thought that was great Pep Boys offers that service- in the past I know tire stores have charged me a minimum of $20 to fix the tire. It's always a hassle to deal with car issues- James and everyone at Pep Boys were so nice! Would highly recommend! read more

I've done business with this store several times and I can only imagine the previous negative reviews were regarding a different set of staff, or the reviewers are just big on complaining. I've had tires, brake work, engine work and some electrical troubleshooting done by these guys and they've been great. Never tried to upsell or add on addition "necessary" repairs, and always done in a very timely fashion. read more

This place is a complete rip of for brake service. When I went in, they quoted me over $300 PER SET of wheels (front and back on a Honda car). When I balked at that price, they said they'd look at it and see if I really needed all the services they quoted so I said that would be ok. Originally they had quoted me for the nicest (most expensive) ceramic brake pads that they had and told me that other models wouldn't be adequate, but when they came back after the inspection they said "oh, well we could just go with these other non-ceramic brake pads that'll be fine"....so where was that option during the original quote? Very deceptive. I still ended up paying close to $200 for just the rear brakes which is significantly more than what I later found that other shops in town are offering. Awful!!! My father took his Tahoe into them and drove away with it worse than when he brought it. We barely made it down the road had to turn around and drive back. They argued with him and sent him on his way with the car that did not run. They charged him over $700 to top it off. Not good biz!!!! Not good! read more

On 11/04/12 I went to buy 4 new tires @ Pep Boys. I had been lured in by their buy 4 get one free advertisement and went ahead with the purchase even though you had to purchase their road service add-on in order to get the "free" tire. Of course it was a mail in rebate. By the time you pay for all their additional services, what's free???? Nothing. If you don't mail in the coupon, you've actually paid twice for your free tire. Once they had the tires off, they informed me that I needed new brakes (both pads and rotors) on the front 2 wheels. I gave them permission to install and left with a $927 bill. On the way home, I noticed a vibration in the tires. Since I not only had the wheels balanced, but also paid for an allignment, I was quite upset with this, especially since my residence is about 40 miles from their shop. I called them up and they told me to come on back and they would check it out. Of course, they could not find any vibation (surprise, surprise) but redid the tires anyway. Problem solved. About 10 days later, the brakes were squeeling and catching when I applied them. I again called the Pep Boy Manager and informed him of this. When I brought my car back yet again, their test drivers found nothing wrong (again). They all acted like I was some crazy lunatic who just enjoyed driving 80 miles round trip because of my insanity. The Manager did not even have the common sense to assist me. He just sat there eating his lunch while his front desk person helped me out. They did fix the problem and I left. NEVER SHOP THERE. KEEP AWAY. I don't know what type of people you are used to dealing with, but I, for one, have always been shown respect and consideration when dealing with most businesses in the South. Shame on Pep Boys for treating their customers as if they were idiots. read more

We have 4 vehicles and have them all serviced here. Friendly and prompt service turnaround, we trust Bryan and staff to give us the straight information. Several times, the cost was much less as we did not need the service that we thought we needed. Joining the rewards program in a no-brainer, you get plenty of coupons as an added incentive to keep our loyalty here. read more

This store is managed by Steve Great character, honest and knowledgeable. The mechanic Bryan can diagnosis a car in a second. Prices are fair and normally coupons are online. We use them for tires and oil changes. We have also had major repairs done. My older teenagers feel well treated to go in there by themselves and have their oil changed. I had my oil changed at this place TWICE. After the first time, 2,000 miles later, I had my check engine light go on. When I brought it to the dealer, they said no oil was touching the dip stick. So I brought it back to Pep Boys, and guess what, 2,300 miles later, the same thing happened again ! PLEASE beware of this place. Took a tire here for a lady I work with to be plugged. Pulled in and lowered the tailgate on my p/u. The 2 employees , including the manager stood there while a brought the tire to them, standing there in the service bay. I have arthritis. Both these two keep looking at each other and I'm wondering what the heck. Are you going to fix this or not? Finally the manager says the tire is too worn to patch, which was nonsense. So do you think either of these two would help me put the tire back? read more

I have been looking for a non dealer service center to bring my cars for service. Besides the fact there are a ton of coupons on the website that covers pretty much any/all services or repairs they offer makes this place a no brainer. We started with using them to get a second opinion for some service with our Toyota Corolla. The dealer whom we had used almost exclusively before exploring some local options. This came in way under their estimate as well as not needing some things the dealer had stated were necessary. Then we took my Honda Accord in thinking it was in need of some major service. Well once they were done it was a fraction of our expectations. They explained everything that the car needed and what we thought was not even issue and why we may have thought it were. I cannot say enough about the whole group of service persons and the manager is by far an exceptionally patient and caring person. We don't trust service persons easily and within two trips I can safely say that we will be doing all out service here going forward! read more

Arrived to drop my car off for a simple oil change at 12:15 PM on Friday September 28th. While I was there three customers came in line behind me. I inquired as to how long it would be, as I had gotten a friend to pick me up while the work was being done. The service manager told me that the work would be started in 45 minutes (approx 1:00 PM.) Time goes by, my friend and I run the errands we had planned. Around 2:45 I return to the location and ask about the status of my car. Service manager and a technician (I believe his name was Bryan) had no clue. They then asked other technicians about the status and came back to say that they were nearly finished with the truck (a customer behind me) and had not even started. They said it would be another 35 minutes. Two and a half hours later and they had not even begun the work. When I had pulled up two of the technicians were sitting at a table in the lobby doing absolutely nothing. I told the service manager I would like to have my car back and that I would be taking my business elsewhere. He then backed my car out and gave me my keys and did not even offer as much as an apology for he and his crews incompetence. I will not be visiting this location again nor will I give Pep Boys any more of my business. Absolutely ridiculous and terrible customer service. Avoid this location. read more

They are horrible , no matter how early you get there, the best oil change is over 2 hours and its looks like there no one there . I have tried them several occasions and they really act like they could care less .Try lanier tire in cumming ,definitely better customer service . read more
