After having an incident with my car last week I came here to balance my tires and do an alignment. I know this placed gets packed because it's smaller than the other Pep Boys I've been to, so if you don't have an appointment you either have to wait several hours or if you schedule an appointment like I did then you check in and just wait the ETA they give you. I was told it would take an hour and a half but Jason the tech who worked on my car was efficient and finished with time to spare. After he was done he gave me a breakdown of the check and all he did and also advised be of an unforeseen problem with my front shocks. Needless to say I'll be back to get it done. This was my first time at this location, I love the customer service that was provided. From the time I got my vehicle towed til I picked it up. The technician JR,was very upfront about the service and repairs to my vehicle. LG, the service manager gave me a quote with a time frame that I could return and pick up my vehicle. Upon picking my vehicle the next day, Sessy was very happy to show how to adjust the steering wheel before driving off the lot. I'm completely satisfied with the service and feel confident when I'm on the road. This will not be my last time for any car service needs. read more

I called 15 minutes before they closed and asked if I got there within 5 minutes if they could see me. I had a car emergency. They put me on hold and never came back. I called back several times. They picked up again and put me on hold once more. I got stuck in traffic anyway so I wasn't able to get there in time, but I kept calling. When they finally picked up close to closing and talked to me, they said sorry we are closed. It was clearly intentional because they knew if they spoke to me on the phone the first time, they would have had to help me potentially go home late. read more

On top of their slow work habits, the employees had an obvious annoyance towards customers, left phone calls unanswered, and were a hard to find. This stores line of communication to the customer is HORRIBLE!!! I made an appointment with them on a Monday to bring in my Mitsubishi Lancer, appointment was set for Wednesday. It wasn't until Friday that they finally hooked my car up to diagnostics. Then, it wasn't until the next Monday that they actually ordered the part that I needed. Part came in Wednesday and they put it in only to find out that apparently my car had complete engine trouble and the part they ordered was not needed. So after them having my car for over a week, it is still not fixed and now does not start (car was starting fine when I brought it in). To make matter worse, none of their employees had a open line of communication with me. They never called saying they couldn't get to my car for a few days. Never called that they didn't order the part for several days. The only time I got a call is when they couldn't fix it and then failed to mention that my car was not starting now. Everytime I called them, I got a different answer as to what was going on and what they were doing. I don't know how many times I asked a question that could not be answered by the person I was speaking to only to be told that someone would call me back, which of course never happened. They did not end up charging me anything (which is good because they did not fix anything, kept me inconveinenced for over a week with no car and worst of all now it doesn't start) but I really feel like they didn't charge me because they know they messed up my car. Talked to a Mitsubishi mechanic and he told me that in his 10+ years of working for Mitsubishi, he has never seen a car with complete engine problems like Pep Boys told me. So if I were you, I would not take my car to them....run fast and take it somewhere else! read more

This store is only in business due to its location. The employee avoid you and don't care. My wife's car overheated and I got it to Pep boys to get some anti freeze and check the engine light. The store was empty except for the 7 employees who didn't greet me and avoided me. I wasn't sure where the antifreeze was and had to hunt down an employee to help me, due to other employees seeing me and walking the other way. Upon getting the product I walked to the front of the store to pay, no cashier, however 3 ppl standing not 10 feet away ignoring me. I approached the group standing near service and was told they couldn't help and I would need to wait for someone else. The first employee who actually helped me appeared 10 mins later. I exited the store filled my car up and returned to have the check engine light checked. I went to the gentleman I later learned is the store manager Casey and he says he can't help me I have to go back to service. At service I ask for them to assist and they very rudely ask if I only want to code checked and now work to be done, to which I confirm. I'm then told she the service employee can't help and I need to wait outside for 10 mins. At this point no other customer is in the store 3 ppl stand in service, after 10 mins one young man who was standing with the lady I spoke at the time I spoke with her walks out with a reader. Give me the code and starts to walk away, I ask him what does that code mean? Can I get a print out( like auto zone). His reply we don't do that, you have to look it up. Ok so I look it up and see the issue and ask for the code to be cleared, he tells me they don't do that and he can't help me. At this point I'm over the entire experience and ask for a manager or a number to call. He very rudely says cause I won't clear your code! No I reply due to the terrible customer service, he directs me the store Manager who barely could take time to help me before. I ask the young man for another number to which he says he doesn't have that information I leave very frustrated and try to call a corporate number for complaints at which I'm given a long wait time. No surprise, so to recap they are a terrible store, they should be ashamed of the service they provided me, don't give them your time or money. My only regret is not being able to give 0 stars. What could have been a positive experience done in less than 10 mins, took over 30. read more

They give you appointments, but still make you waste for hours. They are short staffed and mechanics are not competitive enough to diagnose complex issue. My car had leakage, they never reported inspite of informing oil loss. When I took my car to toyato family, oil leak was immediately diagnosed. Go to local mechanic and save your money read more

Awful experience. Wish there was a zero star rating. Ordered my tires online and made an appointment for the following weekend. We arrived 30 minutes early in hopes we could get done sooner than later. Wrong. They didn't hoist my truck up until an hour later. An hour and a half goes by and the staff notify me that the tires I ORDERED were SOLD earlier that day! Then the staff proceeded to ask if I wanted to wait while they find another location that has the same tires. I should have just left then and there. When they finally came back with tires from another location, it seemed like a lifetime before they placed them on. After putting them on, one of the tires was covered with glue. I asked the staff for some type of compensation for the awful service, and all she could offer was a lame oil change. Luckily I ordered the tires at a good price. I recently brought my 2003 Mazda M6 in to the Pep Boys at 1212 N Collins, Arlington TX. I brought the car in because of a "flapping" sound which I could hear coming from one of the wheels on the driver side whenever I drove faster than 25 mph. I dropped the car off on Sunday 7/10. I received a call from the shop the next day explaining that there was a lot of rust damage underneath the car and there was a lot of work that needed to be done. I was aware that there was rust underneath the car and it is an older car. However, the Mazda had been running fine prior to my discovering the flapping sound. The Pep Boys manager (Jay) who called me cautioned me that it was going to be expensive to repair, about $ 3500.00. I was shocked at this, but he read off a long list of items which needed to be repaired. I told him that I could not afford such an expense all at once, and asked if he could repair ONLY THE MOST ESSENTIAL ITEMS FIRST, so that I could at least get the car back on the road. Then, I could return the following month and get the additional items. Jay called me back and said Pep Boys would replace the Struts and a few other items for 1220.39. I agreed and the work was complete on 7/14. I paid for the repair and drove out of the parking lot. I immediately noticed THE EXACT SAME FLAPPING SOUND that had prompted me to bring it in initially. When I came back in, Jay seemed irritated by my presence and said "well, we told you the car needed all the repairs. It was your decision to just do half of them. That's the reason it's still making that sound." I replied that I had asked to do the MOST ESSENTIAL ITEMS FIRST, and in my mind this would seem to be the "flapping sound" that brought into Pep Boys in the first place. I took the Mazda to my regular mechanic and asked him if he could fix the flapping sound, which was still present. He said the sound was caused by a piece of plastic near the inside wheel hub which had come loose. He fixed it for $ 92.00. He was shocked that Pep Boys had charged 1220.00 and had not even fixed this loose piece of plastic. He agreed with Pep Boys that there was a lot of work that needed to be done on the suspension of the car, but his advice was not to sink that much money into a car with this many miles on it. I showed him the invoice for the work Pep Boys had performed and these are his comments: Line 1 is 2 hours labor to replace the struts.179.98. We charge 2.2 hrs. Lines 2 and 3 are the price of the 2 new struts. 152.59 each. We can buy direct from Pep Boys. 56.24 each. Lines 4 and 5 are new strut mounts. 55.48 each. We buy for 27.67 each. Line 6 is the service guy that called you on the phone. 19.99. He did not evaluate anything except how much he can charge you. Line 7 is the mechanic that did the work. He charged you 0.00 to evaluate and tell the service guy what he sees. Line 8 and 9 are the sway bar links that they replaced. 71.89 each. We get them for 26.44 each. Line 10 is the labor to replace the sway bar links. ? 2 hours at 145.60 per hour? We charge 88 per hour and the sway bar links take 0.3 hours each. Line 11. 80.10 for their labor warranty. Our guarantee is free. Line 12. 35.00 shop fee. Ours is 4.00 I am sure you can see why I am upset. My mechanic fixed the problem with my car for $ 92.00. Pep Boys over-charged me for work that an honest mechanic would advise against performing in the first place! After calling Pep Boys customer service, I got a call back from the shop manager. He offered to give me a free oil change. No thanks! And NEVER AGAIN WILL I TAKE MY CAR TO PEP BOYS! read more

Brought my truck in for AC repair last month and was told I could pick it up that afternoon. Well, the job took 2 1/2 days. That's 2 1/2 days without my vehicle. Ok, no big deal, things happen, AC works great. Brought truck in today for oil change, told it would be 40 minutes if I wanted to wait. 3 hours later my truck never left the spot I parked it in. *Stay away from this place if you value your time, checkbook, or sanity! Have you ever had nightmare, and woke up in a cold sweat, clenched teeth, and sick at your stomach. That about sums up my exprience at Pep Boys in Arlington Texas on N Collins. On Tue 5/5 I brought my vehicle in for a diagnostic on the a/c.($40) After picking up vehicle, notice that the a/c is still not working and leaking freon in floor of vehicle. ( they say there is no problem with a/c, it should be working) They agree to look at it again, I'm hesitant, but dont want to pay another diagnostic elsewhere. Tue 5/12 brought vehicle back, diagnosed and quoted $1500 in repairs. Tue 5/19 sked repairs estimated 2 full days to complete. They never called to let us know it wouldn't be done. We called them to find out they needed another day to complete. Fri 5/22 return to get vehicle, pay for service, drive away and realize the air bag indicator light is now on. Drive back, assuming its a reset switch or something because they had to remove the whole dash to complete service. The Cust svc rep says they dont have a mechanic on duty, and the manager wont be back till tuesday. I asked them to call the svc manager, or tech to find out. The parts/store mgr Raul was there and very unapologetic. He calmly walked in, said we dont call mgrs at home, and walked out. Not sure where Pep Boys found or hired this poor excuse for any kind of customer service. I refused to take my vehicle with the airbag light on, I have two kids what happens if the bags decide to open. I also just spent $1500. Unacceptable!! Mon 5/25 get a call that it was a reset button and now the vehicle is ready and the light is off.(3days later) Wed 5/27 the a/c doesn't blow cool air now. {SCREAMS out loud really?} Tue 6/2 call this ratched establishment to ask why my a/c is still not working. No appointments avail today, and advised to sked a new appointment at another time. Can someone please tell me why almost a month, and $1500 later. I still have a vehicle with no air conditioning??? I'm in TEXAS--- It's JUNE!!! By the way, can I add that I also brought my Kia in there less than six months ago. Spent $350 on breaks. Then I brought my van this past March. They replaced rack, and power steering pump $1200. So lets just say I have spent approx $3,000 at this establishment and still cant get any customer service worth a hill of beans. I had an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation at 12:00. I got there 5 minutes early. They pulled my car into the bay at around 12:30. It's now 2:00 and am still sitting in the lobby waiting for my car to be finished. I have to say they were very friendly and when they did finish my car they gave me a discount. still not pleased with waiting almost 3 hours for an oil change. read more

Steering was making a little noise, but still quite drive-able. Took it to Pep Boys on N Collins. They replaced the steering pump and the rack. Worked great for 10 miles then the steering wheel started shaking almost violently. Tried my best to drive it back. Installed another pump, it worked great for about 20 miles. Same thing. Took it to Sewell Subaru who said Pep Boys installed the rack incorrectly which was the cause. read more

I have used this Pep Boys many times for scheduled maintenance. They know how to change oil and rotate tires. And then on June 29th I brought my car to them with AC problems. It seems all they knew how to do with it was recharge the system. They did so with added die to detect leaks. They found none and told me to bring it back in a few weeks to look for leaks. The charge for this was $181.38. After I brought it back, I talked to the guy on the phone and he said they checked it and there were no leaks. I asked, you did not find the problem? He said there is no problem. I knew there was a big problem. I soon took it to Honda, and the air conditioner completely quit working that morning. The compressor had gone out and had to be replaced. I wrote an email to them about this, not expecting a refund, but perhaps an apology. There was no acknowledgement at all. If you take your car to this place for service, I suggest you keep it simple. I will never go to another Pep Boys again after the horrible experience I endured today. Not only was I quoted the wrong price on how much my repairs would cost, but I also had to wait over 6 hours for my car to be fixed even though I had an appointment! After you all already had my car for 3 1/2 hours I called and asked for an update on when my car would be ready and the technician was incredibly rude and provided no help. I was told i would be called when it was ready and I was not, i had to call twice to find that out. Not only do you all have horrible customer service, your incredibly SLOW service made me miss an important appointment! You would think spending $800+ at your establishment would at least offer some decent customer service, but apparently that's too much to ask for. read more

i was awarded a judgement in my favor for an amount of $6,750.00 in tarrant county municipal courthouse precinct #2 by judge mary tom curnutt on 01/08/2016. will wait for 21 days to receive payment from pep boys inc.; otherwise will file a writ of execution against their properties in texas. the sherrifs dept. will tehn have the orders to confiscate any property belonging to pep boys, inc. and auction off publicly to recover my judgement amount. read more

I shouldn't have settled for them being able to help me faster than another body shop because I came to this store and even the workers know they're not the best. One of the employees putting on my tire said they'd take a while just bringing out the new tires and tried to make it seem ok by saying "it's ok this store runs kinda slow." They took a while bringing out and after putting 3 tires in they noticed one of the tires they had put was the wrong size... So now I had to wait until the afternoon to get the last one. They told me to take the wrong size one and whenever the new one came in to come in and exchange it. They told me it was ok to drive with one tire being the wrong size, which I had to drive on to be on time to my class/work. I didn't have time to come before they closed, so I had to come in the next day bcause I didn't have time before they closed, the next day I had another guy work on my car. And he put in the new tire, but it took them around an hour to get the missing tire and put it to my car. These were all seasons good year tires, payed over $600 for everything and 4 days later one of them just pops in the middle of the highway. I am currently in a parking lot trying to fix the switch the new tire with my spare, and I call them to see if they can do anything, and the person says no because I didn't get road side assistance (an extra charge of around $80) and that if I want a new tire to bring the one that just popped to any pepboys so they can INSPECT it to see if I can get a refund or a new one. I went to the pepboys on South Cooper where they explained that extra fee was like a warranty on the tires if anything happens on the road (pot holes, nails etc.) That they could help me replace them. So I still had to pay those $80 to get a new tire. They also explained that this store had misinformed me and that I was supposed to have free 1 year rode side assistance since I bought the tires. I had spent like 2-3 hours waiting for someone to come help me replace the wheel because one of the lugnuts they put back in was stripped and I couldn't get rid off with what I had. The person who first helped me did NOT give me any discounts or let me know of any specials they had, I asked, and all the tires she showed me weren't lower than $400 for all 4. She also DIDNT LET ME KNOW I HAD FREE ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE. This not only could've saved me time but it should've been tree. When I called about my popped wheel she even restated that I had to pay the $80 fee to get that service. Something they cleared up at the other pepboys that the service was free and I just had to sign up using the receipt of the 4 tires. I am also gonna have to make a 4th return to pepboys because after getting my tires changed, now my steering wheel shakes violently whenever I go over 50 or 60mph, Which is bad because to get to my college I have to drive on the highway almost everyday of the week. It's a great coincidence when someone tells you, you might want an alignment and somehow right after your car starts to fuck up. read more
