Awful. Repairs are slower than dirt. Six hours waiting now for new tires for my car. The sale price is not worth my time. Never again.

DO NOT RELY ON PEP BOYS Damaged one alloy wheel on bad pave surface. Pep Boys had the correct wheel. 5 months 3 wheels still wrong fitment ,then after numerous emails like this In order to ensure we send the correct bolt pattern for your vehicle, may you please provide us with the year, make, model, and engine size for your vehicle? We hope to hear from you soon as we would like to assist you with this in a timely manner. I get a notification of a refund soon after the above email. Can't get correct wheel pattern due to trim of car ?? The bolt pattern is the same on all trim levels of my car ? No reply after that. Problem is Pep Boys are the only stockists of the brand of wheel I need. No concern of Pep Boys. My advice - look elsewhere for your parts, they don't care and will leave you high and dry. read more

I went here to ask what the 20 dollar shop fee was on my receipt that I found after close inspection. Was told by the manager that everybody is "charged it and to read the sign". I said that's fine but I got things like an oil change where the price should be the price. They didn't care and continued to point at the sign on the wall. After contining to ask what this fee is for, I got the wonderful response of "this fee is for towels and rags and other things" After such good service and to be deceived like this you have to wonder if this is such a bargain? Just beware what's on your receipt and realize you are getting hit for a 7.5% surcharge on shop work so that they can have nice new clean towels and rags and things. Slow service with no ETA for completion and they did not call me back as they promised (3-4 hours to replace a tire), long waiting line (had to leave a tire on Saturday to pick it up next day), rude receptionist, repaired tire leaked upon installation, over priced tires (175 dollars for a 90 dollar tire from Walmart) and never returned the 20+ dollars for the initial repair that did not work. read more

Never spend my time writing reviews. But the customer experience at that place leaves me with no other choice. Got there 6.15 PM for a scheduled tire swap. Took them 15 min to NOT find my appointment for which I had a written confirmation. I patiently waited for 2.0 hours, asking for status quo a couple of times. This place is just ridiculous. Made appointment for 9am for simple oil change. Came 15min earlier and now 2.5 hours later I am still waiting only because my car was simply "skipped'. I have used Pep boys many times in the past and have had no complaints. However last two times they were not close to my expectations. A couple months ago I took my truck in for an oil change. There is a noise in the back of the truck when you get in and out and when it hits bumps I asked them to check it out. They completed the oil change and told me I would have to bring it back for the noise since there was no tech there to check it out. So I purchase new rims and set up an appointment for noon to have tires installed on my new rims, front wheel alignment checked and the noise in the back to be addressed. They told me that was no problem it would take a couple hours. I leave my truck at 11:40 after going over all the details. I walked to a shopping strip mall nearby to waste some time. A little after 2 I decided to walk back which got me to the parking lot at 2:30. My truck was exactly where I left it, never touched. I went into find out what was going on and I got some excuse about not having enough lifts. Only having one vehicle at this time I had no choice but to wait. Long story short after a bunch of lies and bull crap they finally finished at 6:30. I was so angry since they were very aware I was supposed to pick up my husband from work at 4PM. Not only that they never cleaned up the tires. Brand new tires on new chrome rims and the tries were all white with Grease. They looked awful. And to top it off, they never addressed the noise in the back of my truck. I am so upset with them. I don't know how they have stayed in business. I am totally done with them. read more

Besides the service desk, this is a well kept store. However I have had bad experiences with this location on multiple occasions. I purchased tires for my 2007 Chevrolet Impala. Once the job was done, we took the car home and the ride was a lot smoother. I notice the hub cap was flimsy and when I took it off, I saw a nut was missing. Contacted the store and apparently they stripped the bolt and never told us. Luckily they fixed it no cost, but the lack of a warning was unacceptable. Most likely due to rejecting other services. Second time around, the heat stopped working in the car. We took it for an evaluation and they began naming parts we haven't heard of. Total bill was $1000+. Ended up checking the coolant level and saw it was low. Added some dex-cool and immediately the heat returned. Most likely will not be returning to this location's service desk. read more

I walked into PepBoys in Bridgewater today around 9:30 am and was very disappointed with the service I received . I was interested in pricing for a brake kit and so I approached the sales associate who was extremely rude ! She basically told me to look at the sign above which said 'repair services ' and that I was in the wrong place and that she could not and would not assist me . I moved onto someone who could assist me and was very kind but the first associate left a terrible impression. I was actually planning to give pep boys $1000 worth of business today but I've decided to take my business elsewhere due to the terrible customer service that I received. read more

Bridgewater pep boys said 200 for fog lights and may be some extra costs. 2 hours later when my car is all apart they call and say they couldn't so the job for 200 and ask for another 300 dollar because the "job was more difficult that anticipated" I said I don't have an extra 300 and the manager started arguing with me. I couldn't believe I had to still pay them 163 for "labor" when at the end of the day nothing was done to my car. Pep boys is usually filled with bad attitudes from their employees and especially managers but i went anyway. Last time I make that mistake. read more

After my post here a rep from pep boys reached out to me and put me intouch with a manager by the name of John Miller from the Pep boys in bridgewater. John understood my frustrations and although I did not remember the name of the employee, John knew exactly who I was talking about when I explained my situation to him. He said he will talk to him. I explained to John that the only reason I posted my review because too many times people get taken advantage of at auto repair shops and I would hope that will not continue. We understand you are there to make a profit but it shouldn't be done through deceit. I hope things turn around but I am only changing my review because of John and the tech that worked on my car's ac (prior to going there for a car alignment). So let's just start off with the why I came in. I came in for a tire installation that I ordered online and came in to get done. First off, customer service was awful. Two women looking at their phones seeing me walk up and ignored me till I said some thing and she said "can I help you." Then I give them my car assuming it'd take about an hour maybe an hour and a half with a few people. 2 hours go by and I hear nothing so I finally ask and the front seat women goes, "yeah our inventory said we had it but we didn't so they went to get it and it should be started now." That would have been great to know. Then, I get an ETA of 45 min. About 1 and a half hours go by and finally I say something and she says yeah they had it done, they lost the paper work. As I'm sitting waiting too, I noticed they managers and workers all on their phones just sitting there doing nothing. There was zero communication to me and I had an awful experience there. If you can, go somewhere else ASAP. They have not gotten better from their previews reviews from 2016, 2017, 2018 etc. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I was told getting new rims put onto my car would be about 2 hours. 3 and a half hours later still no call that my cars ready. So after 4 hours I head into the store and ask them how much longer it would take. The guy behind the desk tells me 20 minutes, they just have to put the tires back on. I go outside in a friends car and wait right I front of the shop and I can visibly see my car up in the air. For about 50 minutes I waited outside and saw not a single mechanic do anything to my car let alone another customers car. Constantly seeing them walk from the shop to inside the store and the most they've done was roll 2 tires to another area. So in total I've waited approximately 5 hours for something that I was told would be 2 hours. I know things come up in the shop but don't keep your customers waiting without a reasonable ETA. read more

I'm writing this review after having a great experience with a representative at this location named Nick. My car battery light came on one night while driving home and although I am not local to this area, it was the closest mechanic open after 8PM. Pep Boys diagnosed that it was my alternator and informed me that it needed to be replaced. My car was ready for pick up before 9:30AM the following morning. Nick was so accommodating with lowering the price for me and went above and beyond in providing me with an exceptional level of customer service. We were pretty upset about how much our car was going to cost, but we found some coupons online that really helped. But to top that off the service we received was excellent. Joe and Denise in particular were extremely helpful, going out of their way to make sure we saved as much money as we could while still getting the service on our car that we needed. Working previously in the car business and reading these reviews makes me wonder about humanity! I had a wonderful experience, I walked in on a Saturday where they were slammed and had no room for anyone waiting, I've been there so I get what they are saying. I left my car, they called hours later and confirmed what I knew I needed, the price was fair compared to dealers. I picked up before they closed and all was done correctly. Everyone loves to complain on here, I would like to know where all these complainers work so I can go see how amazing they are at there jobs. Went there Sunday. The front desk technical guy Joe was so rude. Something should be done about him. The mechanic that worked on my truck could NOT even speak English. When we went to get my truck two mechanics who didn't even work on it were SO helpful. They went out if their way I felt to see what other issues were going on. Of course Joe came out and was so rude, along with the mechanic who could NOT even speak English so we took my truck home and my dad fixed one issue. Went back Monday and the two nice mechanics were there and made sure my truck was taken care of. This place needs to adjust their front help. My dad was going to leave my truck there but when JOE came out and, didn't even care about the safety of my truck. He only cared about accusing MY DAD of lying about the engine light and the oil filled coolent container. Oh and of course he only cared about how much everything was going to be. Sad part is my dad is a VIP rewards customer and has used them a lot. I have the paper that has the name of the really nice mechanics thar helped me . My gf recommended this place because they treat her well and seem to be honest with her. Plus they do a good enough job on what she needs and their prices are reasonable. I went here after being fed up with my dealership...or should I say Stealer-ship! They quoted me $1500 for brakes...I said go scratch! This led me to Pep Boys. They quoted me a much, much better price, did the work in less time and also put a guarantee on their services. I have been to Pep Boys before in other areas and waited forever but they have definitely straightened up their act. The people behind the counter are pretty friendly and you can keep track of your service progress online. I just dropped it off, they gave me a detailed estimate, NO BS, and did what they were asked to do. I waited at the McDonalds with my laptop and it was done in less than an hour...I am sure it's tough to trust most mechanics but I like these guys and will be bringing my gf's and my car more often (hopefully not too often since I want them to run great). My son was up from MD and ended up with a flat tire. I called and spoke with Abdul Asst Mgr around 10:20. Told him of the situation. More than once, He stated the car would be ready by one o'clock. Here I stand at pep boys in bridgewater with no car at 3:32pm. And it will be at least another twenty-thirty minutes. He offered a very weak, lame apology for his lack of professionalism, honesty and integrity! Now my son is at least three hours late to return to MD. I will NEVER use this establishment again and I will be sure to tell EVERYONE I know just how bad they suck! They expect payment immediately for their service - but don't feel it is just as important to extend immediate-or even honest - service from its patrons. Good and Bad. They fixed an engine leak for $200.00 that my trusted STS mechanic said would cost $850.00. That's great. But then on another job they added a bunch of extra warranties that didn't make sense and I told them to credit. Check your bill thoroughly and be prepared to dodge and jab. Another big peeve was their "free" check engine light analysis but then they talk you into $100 check engine analysis since the "free one isn't what you need" Bad. But then they come back with good by installing an air filter into a tricky space and not charging me. read more

I needed tires and brakes for my truck. Going to many places to find the cheapest price, no one beat this Pep Boys. My trucks uses an oddball tire size and almost every other tire center didn't have them in stock. The ones that did had the tires priced more then here. I'll never go back here again, I learned my lesson. They would not replace a faulty power steering pump that was less than two years old. I offered to pay for the labor. The manager basically said he couldn't get the part. I walked out, called Auto Zone and the guy said it is a very common item. Got it next day for $93. Had my real mechanic install for $130. Pep Boys originally charged me $449. Even worse: went in for an oil change and told them to check my brakes due to non stop squeaking noise. I knew they were old coming in. Girl said: it's just dirt they're fine! Once again my real local mechanic replaced them a day later and I saw the old pads that were completely worn down to a millimeter. Never received a call telling me that the car was done so decided to go and see if it was done around 8:45 since the store closes at 9. I was told, sorry, not yet. Will still be a while. Do not go to pepboys of bridgewater for service. I stopped in because my interior lights and power outlet were not working. I thought it might be a fuse but I wanted to take it in to be sure. They examined my fuses and assured me that the fuses were working fine. They said I'd have to pay 115$/hr for the electrical diagnostic and that it could take anywhere from 1-5 hours. I decided to buy my own fuse kit and test each fuse individually. The fuses were blown. I ended up paying 4$ to fix the issue. The salespeople are dishonest and I won't be going back. read more

Rip off. They over charge for parts when you get a quote to get work done on the vehicle. Its crazy cause you can get them cheaper by buying your parts a couple feet away at the parts department. They also will try to sell you a new air filter at every oil change even though the one you have is clean and good for another 6 months. read more

I have been a customer at the Bridgewater Pep Boys for awhile. When my Versa was hard to stop, I knew it was Brake time-NEVER FUN! I made appointment for Friday (3/10/2017), to get an inspection and most likely a brake job. Sam checked me in promptly, and the tech got to work right away. I settled into the soft chairs, which replaced those hard plastic torture seats. I was given an estimate, and the bill came to the quote, but I had a coupon on my phone, and there was a rebate too, on the brake shoes, Thanks to Sam and Denise, my visit to Pep Boys that morning was A LOT less painful as it could have been. I went to this Pep Boys in Bridgewater, NJ yesterday to swap my 4 winter tires out for my seasonal tires. All I need done was those 4 tires to be taken off, along with the 4 sensors taken out, and put the 4 tires that were already on rims on my car along with the sensors. The woman at the front desk told me about an hour and a half (WHILE I ALREADY HAD AN APPOINTMENT). The mechanic who worked on my car who is supposedly "certified", made me take out one of the sensors because he couldn't get it. It took me two seconds. TWO hours later, and they're still swapping 4 tires. TWO HOURS. I could've done this whole process in 45 minutes tops, ON A JACK! Aside from them taking FOREVER to change tires, they charged me $190 for the whole process! $69 to just take out all 4 sensors! $161 was charged for labor. I questioned why it was so much and they couldn't give me a definite answer as to why they charge so much. I've had this same task done on my car a few times and have never paid north of $50. Needless to say, I will NEVER go back to this place. They also tried to get me to buy 2 tires because they were "worn down". I've had these tires for a year, and accounted for about 15,000 miles. I'm no car geek, but I know what I should be paying. I know when I need to change things and I know what is going on with my car. I take care of it and I record when things are done to it. I was very skeptical going to this location as there were so many negative reviews and thought I would just do 1 check-up and see what would happen. VERY pleasantly surprised! The staff was friendly, professional, provided speedy service, and even put in a coupon to cut the fees in half when I did not know about the discount! I wish I could give this place zero stars. I made an appointment for 6:00. Came 10 minutes early. Sat in the waiting room for an HOUR AND A HALF. For a leaky tire. Finally went to the front desk. The lady ahead of me told off the lady at the desk for being stuck there for 2.5 hours. When I got up I asked how my cars doing. I was told I still have a car ahead of me. The workers here really do care about the customers. I don't even live in the area but my boyfriend does and I've had to go to this Pep Boys a few times while visiting. Every time, they have made sure I was spending the least amount of money possible on whatever I needed. Most recently I went for a flat tire, but it turned out all of my tires were very worn out. They replaced all of my tires for an extremely affordable price. And during every one of my visits, my car has been fixed super fast. When it comes to getting your car serviced, this place is a disaster 99% of the time. They have some very good guys who take pride in their work, but for the most part, it's lazy, extremely unknowledgeable so called "mechanics". I do my own maintenance on all of my cars and only come there for oil changes just because i don't feel like doing it myself and driving the oil back for recycling. They are incompetent to even perform a simple oil change. Do yourself a favor and take your car somewhere else or know a good guy that works there. read more
