On a long road trip from MA to AR o found myself stranded with a busted tire and a donut that fell off the rim. With three children in the back seat and less than an ounce of help from AAA I found myself at PEP Boys thanks to their late hours. After a quick inspection of the car they let me know all of my tires were busted (I wasn't surprised) and helped me pick out new tires. They got my car in and out right then. I got a fabulous deal and was thrilled not to have lost a ton of time from being on the road. Really a nightmare! they let me dropped my camry there Friday evening to fix engine light on. They called me Saturday said they wanted $591 for changing a sensor and can only pick up the car on Monday. I refused and went to take my car on Sunday, but my car almost became a wreckage, engine must be jumped to start, one cylinder didn't work so my car vibrated like a roller coaster. Their manager just throw my key to me and let me go. I said when I drove my car here it's very good but now it just can't be driven. Do you really want to kill me? He admitted they messed up and agreed to fix it for free. But 1 hour later he called me and said he would charge me $229, and denied he said it's free. To this kind of person, what can you do? So after running there 3 times, my car became much worse. The only good news is they got a big tip for Xmas. read more

Charged almost $200 just to change a car battery. They insisted on a battery test evaluation (extra fee) even though I knew the battery was the problem. Waited 3 hours, too. Avoid this Pep Boys. I have had better experiences at other Pep Boys locations. read more

What a nightmare. Had a prescheduled appointment for tires to be changed as well has wheel hub/bearing. Around 4 hours into it(with them knowing I was waiting), I was told car was almost done, only to find out hub wasn't changed yet. 2 hours later, I'm informed they don't have the right part and my car is now not drivable. I was forced to get a ride and was late to work because of them. Also needed a ride the next afternoon to go back when my car was finally ready, and missed out on another day of work. They initially offered like $20 off the service which is almost insulting. After speaking to an area director and store manager Raul, they finally waived the fees(least they could do). When we went to the store to pick up the car, we were greeted by terrible attitudes. I've been to this pep boys several times without issue, but after this fiasco, will never return. read more

I made an appointment here as per their suggestion (as opposed to just showing up). Appointment was just for them to plug a hole in one tire. TWO hours later they call me up, I think I'm done. They tell me I ideally need 4 new tires. Not happening. And they still hadn't actually done the small task I was there for. Super disappointed. Not to mention they didn't record the correct information from the phone call to make the appointment.UPDATE: I stand corrected. I spoke to Dennise in the service area about my long wait even with an appointment and she therefore apologized and did not charge me for the service. what a joke! went to this place two times to repair a flat tire, and they could not get it fixed. on my second trip there, after patiently waiting for 1.5 hours, the tech came out and said my tire wasn't leaking. what?! why am i bringing the car in if there is nothing wrong with it? i had to pump air in the tire two times earlier that day. to their credit, they didn't charge me as I have a membership card. but I'd rather pay to get this simple problem fixed than wasting my time. took my car finally to a different place and got it fixed in 10 minutes for $15. read more

Check your bills carefully! I had bad experience twice within a few months. First time, I had my 4 tires changed, plus some other services. Front desk service guy told me that one tire was defective and they needed to look for another. Fine. I was in a hurry when leaving so didn't check the bill carefully. A day later I found they charged me for 5 tires, also with some optional warranty charge I didn't ask for. Had to call all the way to their higher level manager to get my money back. Second time, I needed to have radiator replaced. I had very limited time and asked several times if they had the part in stock, or would rather do it next time. Front service guy "triple checked" and assured me of that. After the mechanic took apart the old radiator he found the replacement part was wrong, and no other in stock. Oops, sorry. Can you put the old one back? Can't. Waited for extra 2 hours. Other appointment ruined. Checking bill (just in case)... and indeed happening again! Why are you billing me for 2 radiators? Oops, forgot to take the wrong one out, doing it now... Why are you billing me for this optional warranty? I didn't ask for it. Sorry, I'm just here to ring you out. The guy who served you has left. These people are SO bad its almost funny. A simple oil change turned into a check engine light with seven codes requiring major repairs. I didnt see the light on until I left the premises. When I went back the tech said the light was on when the car came in. Why, then, wast it noted although the receipt said they had a free inspection. Seven mechanics could not find the OBD. I had to look it up in the manual. Very strange the light went out after the device was removed. Incompetent? Definitely? Liars ? for sure. Con artists? likely. Usually we go there for tires or oil change. But the lock on my car door broke and we were told it needs an actuator and two parts for a handle. Parts alone cost maybe $175 dollars, but apparently they are charging us $700 dollars for labor. It was explained "that's what the computer says" so the computer says to charge 2 hours of labor for each part that probably takes them about 3 hours total to complete. In fact it's probably ready right now, but they won't call till tomorrow to make it look good. Next time I'm going to youtube it and do it myself. Thanks for the inflated labor rates. read more

They made my mom wait 4 hours for a battery change. They didn't tell her the price up front and waited until she was there 2 hours before telling her the ridiculous price. She told the guy you're trapping me and he said yes! Then someone threw a tire against a wall and caused something to fall and hit my senior mother in the head. The manager didn't care and then went in the back and was laughing about it with the service men. Everyone waiting saw him laughing at her being injured. Pepboys should be ashamed of themselves. Went to Bridgewater pep boys for replacement of one of the headlight bulbs that wasnt working.First day there weren't able to find the issue.Next day after waiting for few hours,they were able to manage the bulb replaced.Also by seeing the advertisement chose to go for headlight restoration.But worst thing is after headlight restored,there is no improvement in the headlight brightness.Too much charge for the quality of service provided.If you want to pay more and still have the problem not resolved completely you can opt for this store. read more

I been having car issues lately so I chose pepboys and can you say rip off! The up selling is ridiculous and how they lie and say the price is a certain amount in the beginning but than when its time to check out it will be a different total at the end of the service which is not a good reputation. Also they will say a cheaper price over the phone but when you arrive its a whole different price with numerous excuses of why. Who charges 60.00 for labor. The part was less than 5 dollars, really?! The worst experience ever!!! ended up costing us money.... My husband decided to use Pep Boys because of the their reputable name but BOY DID WE GET A SLAP IN THE FACE. When we got home we realized the hub cap was missing, when we called to let them know they were very dismissive about the whole situation. They said they went thru their tapes and the hub cap was put back on..Which is probably true--- and that there is no way it could of been put on incorrectly, Well we have had the truck for 6 years and not once has one fell off. The manager was down right rude and not apologetic at all but actual accusing us of lying. He told us we could not talk to anyone else he was the only manager and they are not held accountable. I went to get my starter replace I already had the part. I called One 800 pep boys to tow the car and they told me that since it was under 5 miles it was free. When I got to the shop I told the front register lady and man what 1- 800pepboys told me and she said that the price of the tow would be taken off my bill and my bill total will be $211. 1 hour later they call me and said the lower bolt for the starter was missing and they would have to Order a bolt it took them a week to get the part which is hard to believe in today's age where you can get almost anything right away. when I go pick it up and pay for it I a new lady said I was being charged $50 for the tow and that it is never free and that I was getting false information and the bill went up to $266. I talk to the manager on duty and he said the same and insisted that he was the one that spoke to me when I dropped it off with a smirk on his face implying that I was lying but clearly he wasn't the one who helped and when I told him he wasn't he kept quite then said "oh you get half off your tow since you are a member". I was fed up and just paid I asked for the old starter back and he said that he put it my car himself when I went to the car it wasn't there I went back in to get the lady went to the back and got it with an annoyed expression on her face. overall it was a bad experience and was getting mixed information from different people it's ridiculous. read more

Brought our car in to have a lug nut repaired last week. Drove locally and one, one hour highway trip. Yesterday, while driving one mile from home, I heard a very odd sound from the wheel that was worked on. Looked at wheel today to find the caliper in two pieces and the noise was it rubbing on the tire rim! Free tow to Pep Boys to find out the tech who did the lug repair forgot to tighten the bolts on the caliper! OOOOPS. They refunded me for my time and quickly repaired the issue.... I like to believe it won't happen again and lessons have been learned.... read more

WORST MECHANICS EVER! I came in for an O2 sensor replacement; got the car back in worse condition (wouldn't go above 45 mph, cruise control wouldn't turn on, dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree). So took the car back in. They wanted to charge me to put the car on the computer so they could find out they "forgot' to plug the sensor in. Got breaks replaced at this location; within three months the break pads were disintegrating and the shop manager tried to tell me this was absolutely "normal" after only three months of normal use. Then tried to charge me to install new ones. Every repair I've ever had them perform has been multiple trips to get them to fix the issues they caused. Save your time and money and take your vehicle ANYPLACE else. read more

This place is a rip off! Stay away! We had an emergency driving from NY to PA, and passing by NJ we noticed our rear tire was very hot. We found this Pep Boys shop, to find out that the caliper was stuck. First of all, they charged $16 just to lift up the car to see what's wrong with it. I've never been charged to lift the car before. Then they started counting and the list went on and on. Mind you, I just changed the brakes 1 year ago, so they were in good condition. But Pep Boys mechanic Sal and manager Jenks said we need to change the caliper, brakes fluid, replace the rotor (which is still in great condition), rear brakes ceramic pkg, ect, plus they charge for warranty, which should be provided for free... so all together came out to about $500! Seriously?!! They saw that people are from out-of-state with emergency, and wanted to take advantage! Of course, we didn't buy it, went back to Brooklyn, and my guys replaced the caliper for $185 with warranty! The part itself cost under $140. I understand if they wanted to charge $250, we would probably agree, because it was an emergency, and we were afraid to drive back like this, but $500, that's RIDICULOUS! read more

These guys are great! I have been there many times and got nothing but bright smiles and friendly staff. I found that if I don't understand something about what needs to be serviced or replaced I can just ask. They spent a lot of time answering my questions and made me feel comfortable throughout the entire process of repairing my car, and because of this, I chose to purchase new wheels and tires for my mustang through Pep Boys. Walter, the parts manager, made sure that I was 100% pleased with the final outcome. Indeed, I am very happy with the upgrades that were made to the vehicle. Cosmetically the car looks like a million bucks, but thanks to Pep Boys, it didn't cost that much. I can honestly say that I feel that my money was well spent. The customer service representatives at Pep Boys deserve a great deal of praise for their excellent customer service. I would recommend them to everyone. I recently purchased (4) Cooper H/T tires for my Infiniti FX35 and had them installed here. I originally went to this store for some car care supplies and stopped at the desk to inquire about tires. Regina, the sales person, impressed me with her knowledge of available tires and seemed genuine to recommend a good product without overselling me. She also advised me of some manufacturer incentives which would further save some money. My original intent was to purchase new tires online and have them shipped to my local mechanic but because of her sound advice and positive 'customer service' approach, I decided to proceed with the purchase and the installation at Pep Boys. Before I made the appointment, however, I spoke with another women by phone at this location who insisted rather rudely that I told her my car was a Chevy and not an Infiniti. My wife was with me while I made the call and told me I did, indeed say Infiniti but even so, what ever happened to "The customer is always right". She seemed more interested in proving me wrong than earning my business. Because of this I reconsidered doing business here but decided not to judge this store by one individual. I called again and asked for Regina and again my confidence was reinstated. When my car was having the work done, I called to inquire about it's status and spoke with another woman (I won't mention the names of the 2 negative employees) who proceeded to put me "on hold" for 10 minutes when I hung up and called back. I found out she forgot about me. When I picked up my car, Regina took care of the transaction and, in my opinion, went above and beyond what most sales people/cashiers will do. There were (2) rebates involved so she made me three original sales receipts (one for each rebate and one for my records), placed them with each respective rebate form, and then explained the tire warranty and all the work that was done (I also had the front tie rods replaced which is why I felt movement with the steering wheel). All in all, had I not had the occasion to first meet Regina, I would not have had the work done at this store. The work was done, my rims were not scratched (as they had been before at different merchants who mounted other tires), I am very happy with the value I received as recommended by Regina, and her sincere customer service attitude is what made this experience a Plus. read more
