Made an appointment on line at 12:30 on a Sunday for 2 pm They claim they do same day service. Ride up there and am told "it's better to call because then they can see if the guys who do diagnostics are in." They were not there. Really? I posted in the appointment comments what the problem was (why not notify me you can't do the work before I drive there in a car that may brake down) and what mechanic can't run a diagnostic? I needed a tire to match existing three after sidewall damage. The tire sales guy told me he didn't have the one needed in stock, but could get it from another store for the next day. After five days, and numerous excuses, he told me to order it online for delivery to the store. That did work and I was able to schedule a next day 10 AM appointment. The tire got there so I arrived a little early. It took two hours to install one tire! This included seeing my car on the lift with the tire in place for at least 30 minutes with no one in sight. I needed my brake pads changed on my 2001 Montero so I brought it into Pep Boys for service. When I went to pick up my car I noticed that a few of the lug nuts on the front two wheels had been damaged. When I told the guy at the front desk he said that they had worked on the brakes and if there wasn't anything wrong with the brakes then there shouldn't be a problem. This didn't make sense because, obviously, you have to take the lug nuts off to get to the brakes. Anyways, I didn't get anywhere after arguing with him so I just left . read more

I brought in my 2013 Subaru crosstreck in for a battery swap March 19, 2017 . The service was fast and the guys working there were very nice. Even with a problem with their compressor they fixed the issue and were able to service my car in great timing. This past Saturday one of my tires popped around 6 p.m. After having someone (an incredibly kind stranger) help me change it with a spare, I immediately headed over to Pep Boys. When I arrived, it was around 7:30, and they close at 8. I was automatically anticipating having to leave my car overnight and having it take most of the day Sunday for them to look at. BUT, to my surprise, an incredibly friendly and helpful sales associate at the tire repair center offered to take a look at it before closing, and squeezed me in. In just about 10 minutes, my tire was repaired, FREE of charge. I have never had such an easy and pleasant experience at any car repair and am so, so thankful of how willing they were to help me. I am so appreciative (and surprised) by the great customer service I experienced and I will definitely be back in the future for anything II may need. Thanks again!! read more

I had a 10:00am appointment to get my tire plugged. Pep boys opens at 10:00. When I check in, I'm told it will take 1:30 to 2 hours to plug my tire, 4 other cars are ahead of me! I said but I have an appointment and apparently, that doesn't matter. I asked why do you take appointments, you should just tell everyone it's first come first serve. Went into pep boys with quite a list of needed items for a DIY car repair. After the first 2 items needed some help! Klaus, the manager, was more than helpful. He basically took the list and got every item needed. Those not in stock were promptly ordered and I received a pick up call for them the next day. One item was not available for ordering so Klaus substituted with a better (and more expensive) replacement for no extra charge. He was friendly, patient and courteous. Thank you Klaus. I started going to Pep Boys recently after they gave me a reasonable quote on a number of things I needed to have done including new tires, a new belt and some other maintenance items. In all I paid about $2000. The belt began squealing shortly after picking it up and continues to squeal on an off. The first time I stopped back a gentleman at the desk said that if I stopped back in the daytime someone could take a look and adjust it. So I stopped back a second time during the day and another gentleman checked me in, took my keys and asked me to wait. After a while I checked back and he then told me that no one could look at it for at least 45 minutes, which was more than I could wait and more than I thought reasonable since the issue is most likely due to their original work. I recently went back to have an oil change and ask them once again to look at it and was told that their technician couldn't look at it, but that I would have to make another appointment with one of their mechanics. In all, I feel that if I may be at fault for something that happened when I am working I would try to check it out and make it right. It is good customer service. I have received meiocre service at best and my problem still has not been addressed. I don't think that I will be returning to have my car serviced at the Broomall Pep Boys and if you are thinking of doing it, be warned. They do not seem to take responsibility for issues that they may have caused. read more

I had an appointment at 9:00 a.m. and got there about 9:05 a.m. and I asked the young man behind the service center counter whose name was Aaron Starnes employee#385106 if it would be possible to be finished with the oil change within 1 hour. He asked the technician who would be servicing my car and then came back and said my car would be finished within the hour. I decided to walk the shopping center while waiting. Within 30 minutes I received a call from Aaron asking if I would like a new air filter because the one I had needed replacing and I gave my approval. Aaron said your car will be done within 5 minutes. The total waiting time was about 35 minutes. The service from both Aaron and the technician was excellent. read more

Horrible Exsprience I bought an upper control arm and ball joint ,i only wanted Pepboys to install,,They did ,now 2 months later PEPBOYS DID NOT Grease the ball joint installed and nor the other fittings that are connected to the Control arm i bought !! The Ball Joint is Runined and they are not replacing this for me & I have a pick-up truck when putting on my wheels , They Used the Air-gun to put on Plastic hub Covers They Broke all 4 Hubs and Rims . then i purchased a Belt for my truck online ,i had to present the coupon instore to be Scanned Customer Service told me they will scan and i will get the $ 10.00 Discount, So the Manager Voided my original Purchase OF $ 28.00 AND CHARGED ME ANOTHER $ 18.00 I told him i didnt not have enough money to cover the other amount im on fixed income , He did it anyways, So now that put my bank Account in the Negative and received a NSF my Bank wont reverse it, SO NOT IM SCREWED I WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND TAKING YOUR CAR OR TRUCK TO PEPBOYS , I WOULD NOT TAKE A BIG WHEEL TO PEPBOYS , SERIOUSLY THERE A JOKE THIEVES INCOMPITENT SERVICE TECHS THAT FLAT OUT SUCK !!!! read more

Worst corporate policies and customer services. Recently had to return an item I bought. Item was only $5, still sealed in box and I had my receipt with me. The mgr who handled the return refused to accept the return unless I could produce my original credit card which I had left at home. Asked if he can look it up as I had the original receipt but still refused to process the return. Told me it was corporate policy. How ridiculous a policy considering I had the original receipt. In this day and age when corporations have all the information at their fingertips, I'm surprised they cannot process my return given all the information on the receipt. If other companies can easily process returns without having a physical CC, then Pepboys need to update their IT systems or change their policies. So, I had to trek home to get my CC. And next comes another ridiculous policy. They require me to join their rewards program in order to process the return!!! All these for a $5 return. read more

DO NOT COME TO THIS PEP BOYS LOCATION! A few months ago i came to this location for 4 new tires and they did an alignment. I received HORRIBLE service at this location at this time. I went to the marple ford dealer to check my alignment, 1 week ago, because it felt off and they said a tire rod was not put back properly and my front 2 tires were bald already. Before having marple ford replace my tires i called pep boys to see if they would just replace the tires for me due to their faulty work, i got no answer, said i would have to speak with the service manager (who wasn't there and everytime i call or ask for him, he's never there) and they also said because i didnt buy the warranty there's nothing they can do, when i have only got 1000 miles on these tires so far and they are bald already!! So now i am fighting to get reimbursed for the faulty work and no one can give me an answer. Everytime i go or call the service manager isnt there, the store manager has been helping me but says theres nothing further he can do. I asked for the regional managers info to try and get this taken care of but no one knows who that is. How do you not know who your boss is, is my question. HORRIBLE SERVICE HORRIBLE WORK i would not recommend even my enemy to use pep boys, i would rather spend a little extra money to go to marple ford and have proper work done and good costumer service. read more

This place is horrible. I arrived and a customer was arguing with the manager over poor service. I left my car for them to perform the free diagnostic test in order to find out what codes would come up. They informed me if codes came up they would then run the actual diagnostic test that costs $89.99 and then call me and tell me how much the work would cost. Another hour later I received a call from "Waheed"who stated they were able to pull codes but not diagnose the codes, in order to tell me what was wrong with my car. I arrived and Waheed insisted I owe $104.- I refused to pay due to them not diagnosing the codes and asked to speak to the manager. After 3 mins Waheed came back and gave me my car keys without saying a word. These people are crooks. That was a real crook move!!! If it were some other naive person they would've totally stole over $100 bucks from them. Unreal. Never again. I'm glad I'm not afraid to stand up for myself. read more

I went the Broomall Pepboys for a simple oil change and tire rotation. I scheduled my service online in advance, which was confirmed. There are signs within the store and online that indicate how quick their express services are (which include oil changes). I waited almost 6 hours for my service to be completed which I found to be completely unacceptable. I did go on Sunday so I anticipated an hour or two wait to be generous. But they have a dedicated service window that handles oil changes only. Furthermore, what's the point in scheduling online if that means absolutely nothing. It's like putting in a reservation for a restaurant and the hostess telling you a reservation is meaningless. Overall I would give them a 2 our 5 because the kids that work there are considerate and ultimately gave me a free oil change due to the long wait. Also which has no effect on my score but more of a personal frustration, they had a soccer game on the lone TV in the waiting room while it was a football Sunday. read more

I have taken several cars (one fairly new and 2 older vehicles) there for routine services. One of my vehicles blew a tire, so we took it in this Pep Boys location. They sold me four tires, and in fairness, I did need them. But when they were taking the car off the lift, they diagnosed a strut problem and give me a $ 1200.00 estimate. We declined the work, and took the car to another repair facility. When the tow truck driver when to pick up the car, he immediate saw that the spring was broken not the strut. He went inside to talk to the manager, who was not in, and never got back to him. The item was fixed, and I even had the other side fixed at the same time and my bill was $700.00. My 2 main problems were the missed diagnosis, and when I went in and asked to talk to manager, they never got back to me. The diagnosis fee was on $24.95., but it was the principal of the thing. How much would the bill have been if they did the work, since a spring was not even listed as a part on the estimate? Do you self a favor and go somewhere else. The spring was resting on the tire, a simple diagnosis. Meikle up the road on West Chester Pike does much better work. I will never take my cars there again. They have very poor customer service and very poor repair service. read more
