I went to this Pep Boys location to have a tire installed. Whomever installed the tire did not out rge spare tire back in the under carriage storage instead it was placed in rear trunk of my vehicle. I returned the next day to have this corrected. The store manager was alone with no service techs at 7:05 am. All due to accidents that held the employees up. I told him I would come back. I did return and the young man who helped me was named Anthony. He was very pleasant. He put the spare in it's storage compartment. I felt as if my experience at this store was very bad, I had no intention of ever returning. But after meeting Anthony I reconsider it was a pleasure. RACIST!!!!!I went in this morning due to my truck's traction and a service electric control light/4WD service light coming on in the car. I asked the white male at the front desk if they'd be able service my vehicle and he said I would have to take it to the dealership because it was an electrical issue. Which was odd because I've had thousands of dollars worth of work done at this location. Normally they would suggest a diagnostic to get down to exactly what the issue was. I found another Pep Boys location on Scenic Hwy and the gentleman assisted me and gave me additional information on what caused the issue. I realized this location refused to service me because they're RACIST!!!! Imagine turning down money because you don't like the way someone looks. I called first for the price on check on the oil leak and clean to see where the leak coming from , they said there NO CHARGE for that, free charge to check the oil leak. I asked them 3 times just to make sure I know before I arrived my appointment. when I got there they lied and said there a charge for check the oil leak (no service) I told them I spoke to them over the phone and they told me different story, called the right location and the phone number (someone at pep boys lied) so I have to pay check the oil leak charge $34.99. while I was at the waiting area I checked their customer reviews and I was surprised they have ALOT OF BAD REVIEWS at Pep Boys over price , manipulated and not telling them what wrong with people s vehicles. I was promised a Carfax report with my 120 point inspection and never got the Carfax report. Feels like a big scam! I paid $74.99 which included the Carfax valued at $34.99 so basically they ripped me off. The inspection says I have zero issues however my front passenger air bag light is on, there's a trail of liquid coming from the engine, the air conditioner is not cold unless on high and the acceleration is lagging. None of these things were noted on the inspection so I doubt my car had a thorough inspection. I should've read the reviews this place needs to be investigated and shut down! read more

My car battery died so I bought I new one from this shop. It worked fine for about one week then one day my car would not start, it was totally dead, the engine would not turn over and the key fob would not even lock my doors. I found the negative battery connector was totally loose on the battery terminal. I could pull it off without any resistance. It simply was never tightened. The tech even left a socket on the bolt at the base of the battery. I will never use this shop again due to terrible service! read more

Came in for a simple brake pad replacement, came out with a 1200 dollar bill and it took them hours to get my truck back together. They were very rude when i came to pick it up. They Claimed i had bad brake calipers and the rears needed replacing too, i had a private mechanic take a look at my truck afterwards and he confirmed my suspicions and quoted me only for the pads. Customer service here was very poor and unreasonable. They took an appointment at 2:30 today. I went in to drop off my car. The mechanic who registered me in said that it will be over in 2 hours. I go in again at 4:45 and they did not even touch my car. When I asked the store manager Mark about why my car has been just sitting in the parking lot for 2 hours unattended he told me that it was part of my fault for not understanding that the service itself takes two hours, not the time starting from 2:30. I don't understand how the fault is placed on the customer when the mechanic himself said it will be done in 2 hours. Have gone there twice... once when my battery died at the QT next door. The service worker was extremely helpful and checked my battery. He told me I needed a new one and I asked if we could go ahead and get it done since I had to work tomorrow. The woman at the front desk said to him, "I know why you told her you'd do this," implying it was because I was a decent looking female I suppose. She appeared irate as if I were keeping them longer. If it weren't for her, the experience and customer service would have been great. Everyone else seemed friendly and polite. The second time, my husband and I scheduled an oil change appointment online. When we went in, my husband stood in line and the same woman told my husband that she had to go eat her lunch, and that it would be a few minutes- which he said that was fine and proceeded to wait. 10 minutes later, she told him that they wouldn't be able to complete the oil change for a few hours. We stated we scheduled an appointment and she told us that they don't honor those appointments. What's the point of scheduling an appointment then?!!! If we're attempting to be courteous by scheduling an appointment, that woman should at least be courteous enough to utilize some sort of customer service skills... Never going back... read more

I bought 4 new tires (high performance all-season tires at $91/tire is a heck of a deal) from this location and after Susan offered $40 off a base alignment package ($84.99 regularly), I thought it would be a good idea to go ahead and have my tires installed here too. WRONG!!! Outside from the friendly phone call from Susan and the guy that greeted me at the desk, once a problem arose it was a huge about face. I washed my car and detailed my tires the morning of my appointment because I wanted to have a look of the current condition of my wheels and make sure the mechanic did not have to work with dirty wheels. No curb rash on my rims on all wheels. I watched the mechanic (Orlando) used what look to be a large flat wrench/crow-bar to unmount and mount my tires to the rim. This tool not only came in contact with my wheels but rubbed on several spots on 3 out of 4 wheels causing deep metal scratches. I work on my car regularly and treat my car well because not only is it my hobby but without a running car I cannot make a living. The mechanic came out while I was inspecting my tire and asked if there was a problem. When confronted with my damaged rim he stated they only use plastic tools and there was no way he could have caused the damage. He ended with "if you have a problem, then you can speak to the GM". The GM (Brian) was apologetic initially, surveyed my wheels and stated that he would call a nearby dealership when he got in to work the following morning to order new rims and give me a call once the order was placed. On the drive home, I noticed my steering wheel was significantly left of center. So I called Brian at the store about it and he said they would fix that when I came back for the wheels. Im away at work on Saturday, so my husband calls in at 4pm to get a status update because I have not received a phone call. Susan says she heard the GM call about my rims that morning and that the earliest a delivery could happen was Monday. Monday comes and goes without any update. I call on Tuesday and John (manager on duty) States he has no nothing about the wheels and no wheels have been received by them. Also Brian was not in at the time, so I had to call back the next day again. Called back on Wednesday and Brian now States it will take 2-4 weeks for my wheels to arrive, so it would be faster to have my wheels repaired by a specialist. This was not the agreement nor the offer he made me initially and I think he assumed since I was a female I wouldn't know any better. I called my husband to discuss this change and he called Brian for more clarification. During their conversation, Brian implied to my husband that I lied about where the damage originated and that there was already damage present on the wheels when I brought the car in. He eventually stated that his area manager would not approve the purchase of the replacements which is why he suggested a repair instead. I am not a liar and I have more than enough money to buy a brand new full set of rims x 3. I am a car enthusiast like my husband and can work on this car by myself, I just don't have the tools to mount new tires. I know this car like the back of my hand. After being made out to be a liar and Brian not being able to keep his word, I no longer trusted this shop to right their wrong. The only emergent need was to have my steering wheel straightened out, so I made an appointment for the following day at 930AM. I parked my car at 934AM at Pep Boys, running behind due to unforeseen traffic. Not one soul greeted me when I walked in. Susan was at the counter and coldly asked me to fill out some paperwork and notified me that there were 2 customers ahead of me for an oil change then proceeded to continue to sit there after I handed back the paperwork. I made an appointment for service, so customers who need an oil change should have no affect on my appointment. The alignment bay was empty when I got back to the waiting area. The total time I sat in the waiting area was 65 minutes and it took the mechanic 12 minutes to adjust my steering wheel. John (presumably the MOD I spoke to the other day) motioned me over after the mechanic drove my car to the front of the store. He slid the alignment papers to me and just sat at the counter. I asked if there was anything he needed from me and he said no. Nothing else was said. I was not greeted when I came and nor was greeted as I left the store. A storewide bulletin must have gone out about me and my case. Use this and the other reviews as a warning. Do your research and trust these reviews as they are consistent. Spend your hard earned dollars somewhere else that is worth your time and effort. read more

Received great service at the Mall of Georgia Pep Boys location where I had four (4) tires installed. Chris D. was very helpful setting up my appointment and making sure the pricing was correct as advertised. Mechanic Benjamin H. did an outstanding job with the installation. He replaced the old long valve stems with shorter ones that are a much better fit. He also removed all the old unsightly balancing weights from the outside of the rims. As a GM for a brand I would never tell my customers "I'm sorry I can't honor your CONFIRMED reservation that MY web based system confirmed by sending an email and a text message. It gets better the reason this Manager advised they can't service my car with my confirmed appointment was due to them being understaffed with no additional help, but in clear view there's one tech on his cell phone sitting in a chair in customer view and the other tech struggling for support. On Thursday I scheduled a oil change for 10 am on Saturday morning. I figured get there early and beat the crowd. Saturday we arrived at 9:45 am and I walked up to an empty counter to check-in. After waiting a while an employee (which looked pissed) walked in from the mechanics area and started typing away an the computer without acknowledging I was there. She finished her typing and asked if she could help me. I told her that I had a 10 am appointment and she immediately tells me that there is a 2 to 3 hour wait. I repeated myself that I had a 10 am appointment and she goes on saying even if I had an appointment I still had to wait. She asked me what I needed done and I told her I need an oil change and she replied well I only have one technician and the other one that was suppose to be here didn't show up and the tech that I have now has other things to worry about than an oil change. I left without being rude because I was getting nowhere. I've never had bad service here! Nowadays. I see all these bad comments about not being able to get in and out and how rude the employees are. But I would say the attitude you walk in with is what you get. If the customer is going to think they are higher and "deserve" the best service. The customer should think about how they depend on their car to earn them the money to pay for their needs. The mechanics there work probably harder then the customer. Also nowadays people are greedy and have no patience in them. And think "time is money" in some cases it's true, but maintenance is not one of these cases. I went to Pep Boys to get a diagnostic test done because I was told they did it for free. Not true. They also had me schedule an appointment for a certain time, but when I got there, they told me there was 2 people in front of me. I was told it would only be a hour at the most. I finally got tired of waiting after 2 and 1/2 hours and told them I was not going to do the test. Then they told me they were taking it back right away. I told them I did not want the test. Next thing I know they took my car back anyway. Needless to say, I threw a fit and got my car back and got out of there. Dishonest. Will not return there. read more

On 6/16/20, I went in the Buford Pep Boys for an oil change for which I had made an 8a.m. appointment online. When I made my appointment I specified I wanted a synthetic blend oil change for my Honda Odyssey and I would wait, figuring it would be about 20 minutes (that's the normal wait time at most places). I got the at 7:55. The counter guy comes out from the back at 8:15. 1 hour and 40 minutes later, the counter guy comes out and presents my bill, over $120 I asked him to explain that to me. I showed him his own ad. The ad says $45 and $10 off with a coupon. He told me the price was with a coupon already applied. FALSE ADVERTISING! Then he proceeds to tell me what all they did without my authorization: Premium synthetic oil; Tire rotation and balance and a vehicle check. I was already steaming mad because of the wait and the situation was made worse because of the extra work I did not authorize. If I refuse to pay, I don't get my car back. Well, guess what? Pep Boys, you no longer have my business and I hope anyone reading this will not go there either. My next oil change will be at Walmart, for a lot less. They treat you better too! They are a scam! I went in trying to get an oil change for my car, but I'm a woman so of course they tried to scam me with the price originally, but I got it down to a more normal cost. Then I left after the oil change and everything seemed to be fine, but then a few days later I was at my uncle's house and he is a mechanic so he always does a check up on my car just to make sure things are going good. Turns out there was absolutely no oil in my car! After 3 days! He told me there was no way it could have happened unless they just didn't put any in. I am extremely dissatisfied & it is not the first incident I have had with this location. I will not be returning to this store or Pep Boys again. Extremely unprofessional. read more

Pep Boys had awful service and tried to rip me off!!! First, when trying to get an oil change, I was required to buy one of the packages that included a fuel additive. The change and rotation cost at least 30 percent more than what I was charged with my dealer and other mechanic. Second, when rotating the tires they informed me that all 4 tires needed replaced after saying the tread is almost totally worn down in 1 tire. I declined the offer and brought the car to another mechanic, who said the tread was OK. They were trying to make a quick buck and they failed! DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!! read more

I've come in three times already for engine checks, tire rotations, etc. I never have to wait, I get greeted immediately and my car is taken care of right away. I can honestly say that I've never had any problems with them and they always give 5 star service. Most automotive places always try to cheat you out of your money and are never direct with the problems your car may be having but they've never failed me! They are honest & fair. I have used Pep Boys before (Lawrenceville) and have always found them excellent. What a disappointment this Pep Boys was. I had an appointment to get an oil change at 1pm. When I arrived the first thing I was told was that there were 3 people ahead of me I said I had an appointment and was told that it does not matter. When I was called 4 hours later to say my car was ready, when I answered my phone, the person said, "this is Susan. How many miles do you have?" I am thinking they had my car for 4 hours and they are asking me that questions. I told them that I thought around 81,000. Susan then said, "your car is ready". She never said this is Susan from Pep Boys. When I arrived, my car had black, greasy hand marks all along the driver side of the car. As it turns out, that is OK as I will not be returning. Too bad.
