My last review of this place was 11 years ago. In my review, I noted how they had a bad overall rating and gave 4 stars. A lot has changed. I took my car in for a brake job on 4/8. It was advised that I needed new front pads and rotors, and that a complete brake inspection was done (on my invoice). One month later, I noticed my left front brake was extremely hot, and there was a burning smell. Prior to this, I had noticed some brake noise and slight pull, but did not think of it. I immediately brought it back in. I was told that my caliper was sticking and it would be repaired. That same evening, I called for an update (as they did not follow up) and was told they could not get parts and would not be able to complete for another two days. They ended up completing the work without calling my warranty company for authorization. When I tried to pick up the vehicle, they finally called the warranty company, and my claim was denied as they changed the diagnoses to "failed hose," which should have been done when they replaced my brakes and inspected a month earlier. I finally left with my car three hours later after paying the nearly $600 bill (for the second time). The very next morning, after driving 4 miles, I had smoke billowing out of my brakes. I called the store and was accused by Gloria of "wanting something for free" and she reluctantly covered the tow truck to pick my jeep back up. Later that evening, I called for another follow up (as nobody called me) and was told by Tiffany that it was a defective rotor. She agreed to keep the rotor so I could inspect with Carlos and the tech the following morning when I picked up my jeep. The following morning, I arrived and picked up my Jeep. I asked Carlos to show me the failed rotor with the tech, and he immediately advised that it was NOT the rotor, but rather that the tech did not replace the hoses or complete the actual brake job that they invoiced for. They sent me away with an unsafe vehicle that was never actually repaired, which is a huge safety issue. The shop has since taken zero accountability, and the corporate team is gaslighting me. They have offered a coupon for a future visit, with no real solution for the negligence. As someone that has spent well over $20k with this company, I will no longer be a patron. Carlos is among the worst customer service experiences ive ever had. my experience normally at the store is pretty good, but the last time I took my wife's car in for service, the checkout process was terrible. It was obviously a burden to Carlos.. they left my wife's car a mess and when I asked Carlos, if this was normal, he told me that their texts are not responsible for cleaning up their mess even though they're status updates include sanitizing the car. I was told my car needed a new transmission and it would take a week to get the part. After the week came and went with no communication I called and was told it will take another week but they will prep my car so when the part arrives it will be done in one day. What's the point of having an appointment if you treat it like a walk in? I came here for an oil change on my first visit with an appointment and was quoted two hours. I didn't get my car back for 5.5 hours. I regrettably came back to have other work done that they recommended during the visit a week prior. I was quoted two hours max for the break pad change and that they had the parts already there. When I arrived, they quoted six hours and about triple the amount I was originally quoted. I showed up for my appointment to have my oil changed and was told it would take one hour to complete. There weren't that many people waiting so I figured it wouldn't take long but it ended up taking 2 hours to do a simple oil change. When I was finally called up to check out, they gave me the bill and the keys to the wrong vehicle. I will not be returning. The man at the desk was friendly and seemed a bit overworked as he was handling phone calls and dealing with customers in person. Saved by a few good people My experience at this Pep Boys location was very disappointing. A crew member named Carlos was rude and dismissive, and his behavior made me feel uncomfortable and judged. Unfortunately, after reading other Yelp reviews, it's clear this isn't an isolated issue, which makes it even more concerning that it hasn't been addressed. I do want to note that the manager on duty was kind and professional (I regret that I don't remember his name), and Christian was absolutely amazing, patient, respectful, and genuinely helpful. If I could rate this place 0 stars I would. Came in early for my 9:30a appointment for an oil change and tire rotation and was told it would take an hour and a half. I came back at 10:40a and they hadn't even pulled my car to the garage from the spot that I had originally parked it. I asked them if they had already finished and the guy at the front acted like he just remembered and said "oh we'll get started right now." I confirmed that it was an hour and 10 minutes after my appointment and they still hadn't started my service. The man confirmed. I asked if it would still be done by 11am like he had said and he said said yes. 5 minutes later they finally sent someone to get my car to start the oil change. My car made it into the garage at 10:47a, an hour and 17 min past my appointment time. At 10:57a I asked the woman at the front desk if she could see in her system what services I had requested when I made my appointment. She confirmed that I had asked for a tire rotation as well as the oil change. The man I had been dealing with walked in as I confirmed this service with the woman and he turned around and walked back into the garage. I heard him shout at the guy who was lowering my car back down to stop. He did and the man pulled a couple mech to assist in rotating my tires. I believe they didn't pay attention to the order the first time and wouldn't have done this service at all if the guy hadn't heard me ask about it. It sucks to have to push and argue and fight for yourself at a place like this. The man said he would text me when my car was ready. If I hadn't have come in a little early and physically watched through the window what they were doing to my car, I truly believe they wouldn't have done the oil change in a timely manner or the tire rotation at all. read more

Took quite a bit longer than they had initially told me due to not having the filter I needed but thankfully there was a Publix and some other places nearby to pass the time. Brought my vehicle in to diagnose the shifter cable they installed with less than 500 miles on it. Tech stated it needed to be replaced $727.68. I left took it to get a second opinion and learned it was a simple adjustment $75.00. I called the manager and the response was I'll let the tech know! But was even more troubling the car is listed for sale, after losing a sale and prospects I learned that they reported to carfax nearly twice the milage showed on the odometer. I took my van in today because of a slow leak in a tire and only asked them to check my tire I left the business and an hour and a half later I returned and they told me they were just getting ready to call me and that I needed 2 new tires and a serpentine belt. They told me I had a nail in one tire and it was too close to the side wall to repair. They claimed my other tire was wearing unevenly and needed replaced. Seems strange to me that I had my vehicle in for service at home 2 weeks ago and none of these problems were found. Shame on me for not just leaving with my vehicle but being on the road I had them replace the tires. We brought our car in to check on a tire. A previously patched part of the tire was leaking air, so we needed a new tire. They couldn't get the tire same day, so we said we would check in a few days later once we had our next day off. That happened to be a Sunday - they said they couldn't get the tire same day (we figured that was fine since it was a Sunday), and so my husband made an appointment for the following Friday. We called on Friday, they apparently sold the tire that they brought over for us, told us we should have come over on Monday instead, and then said that they would get a tire for us later that evening. So my husband went to get the tire, and lo and behold, they never sent out for the tire. Not to mention that whoever answers the phone at this Pep Boys is so rude and unprofessional. Even though this place is very convenient for us, we will not go back and I do not recommend this place whatsoever. Whoever manages this Pep Boys - you need to train your office staff to have better people skills, let alone customer service skills. read more

Short version: Believe the yelp ratings. Predatory, bait-and-switch, lack of transparency in price and services. Long version: I give people/businesses the benefit of the doubt. I do not like causing a scene because I get it, businesses are hard to run. But if I feel like I'm being taken advantage of, I will stand up for myself. I went to Pep Boys Celebration because it was close to me. Had I known they were a predatory bait-and-switch shop, I would have driven the hour to the mechanic that I know and trust (How do I know I can trust them? I tried throwing thousands of dollars at them for services that I thought I needed after driving cross-country from California but they turned me down, multiple times.). Anyways I asked for an oil change, I expected an oil change ($80), and I got a "Manager's Special" ($122). What is a Manager's special? NO CLUE. It was NEVER discussed with me BEFORE, DURING, or AFTER the bill came. And when I had the audacity to be upset and to ask why there was an up-charge, Jesus said "I don't know". Yes, Jesus price-adjusted for me in the end but I had to stand up for myself, get upset and cause a scene for him to take any action. Some of the people who witnessed my exchange with Jesus thought he was kind and helpful. That's their perspective but from my perspective, I was being up-charged for services (1) I did not agree to and (2) was not even aware of. Look at the reviews. Look at the names and profile pictures of the good vs bad reviews and ask yourself what the differences are. What proportion of good reviews are from minorities, what proportion are from women, and what proportion are from minority women. I think that will tell you if you fit into their customer demographic. Keep in mind minorities can and do discriminate against other minorities. read more

I am not one to leave bad reviews, but this experience affected an entire day of work for me, all so a business could try and profit off of me rather than help me. I went in having tire issues, where we learned that I had a nail in my tire. The first thing the service provider told me was that I would be needing a new tire and needed to go to another shop down the street, and advised me not to wait since my tire could deflate if not quick. Because I just purchased new tires not even a month ago, I decided to go to my regular auto shop to have a second look, where they told me I would not need a new tire at all, and it would be a quick fix. I felt that this could have easily been solved at here, but instead only looked to get the highest price point possible rather than helping. read more

I feel it's sometimes rare now to find an auto repair shop you feel comfortable with. This Pep Boys has helped with tire repair, oil changes, engine check lights, etc. They have been honest about timing and been upfront about price. My previous 4 star review was about their speed for repairs/oil. But I have seen a steady increase in communication and speed. And, I am now quite happy with their service. I dropped my car off for a few things: oil change, tire rotation/alignment, and diagnostic of an improperly running A/C. Hours later, I was called with an insanely high price to repair the condenser/compressor (admittedly, two expensive items, but I felt as though the price quoted was on par with a dealership quote). I initially rejected the offer, and they immediately cut $300 off the price (...I still said no). All they had to do was the oil change, and tire rotation/alignment. Hours later, I was not contacted. Finally, right before they closed, I called twice: the first call was never answered, the second answered after 10+ rings. I was told that my vehicle had been ready for awhile; cool. I went over the following morning; check out took forever due to the # of customers, lack of employees, and failed credit card machine. I ended up paying $186 for an oil change and tire alignment/rotation. Note that the price quoted online for an alignment is FREE - and the associate told me it was free when I took my car in. I had been there for too long and was too tired to protest. (The one "nice" touch - the employee took $50 off the $100 alignment; but still! $50 =/= free.) I was also not given any direction on where my car would be in the parking lot, which was in a state of constant chaos. I expected more for a location in Celebration, FL. I would also happen to agree with the other reviews; pricing and lack of disclosures/transparency felt predatory and dishonest. read more

I took my car in for a regular oil change, they said it would also need the Valve Gasket, Oil Pan, and Oil Pan Gasket replaced for over $1000. Then they tried to charge me for spark plugs and for a warranty they never told me about. THEN, a week later, I had to tow my car somewhere else to fix what Pep Boys messed up! Wrong Spark Plugs used and Valve Cover Gasket replaced incorrectly. I am STILL trying to get in contact with someone at corporate to refund me the money they charged me and to reimburse the extra $700 I paid for someone else to fix THEIR mistakes. This place is terrible, appointments still come with a 1-2 hour wait, and they aren't transparent with their business. read more

They were horribly busy - people who had appointments were waiting 3+ hours for an oil change. Our vehicle had needed the exact repair done a few months ago - we had taken it to a mom and pop mechanic. The bill was under $200. To have the same work done at Pep Boys was almost 3x's as much money. The staff was very nice and accommodating - I think the store was just overbooked. read more
