My second time here, I found that they quoted me far above market for some work that needed to be done. While service and quality of work is still there, I did feel as if they points in regard to honesty. For instance, they quoted me ~$470 for a battery swap, which is absurd when you consider that a battery costs ~$200 with free replacement at AutoZone (while they quoted me $165 for labor for a 5 minute job). Additionally, for all of the other work they quoted me for, they were $400-600 over market and in one instance ~$800 over market, which is way too much. Perhaps it's because I'm a young guy, and I often give an impression of ignorance, but regardless, even if that were the case, that should be an opportunity to teach and lead, not an opportunity to take advantage of somebody for monetary gain. After consideration, I feel as if 2 stars are warranted. Especially in this industry, honesty and integrity are everything, and in this financial climate, an attempt to take advantage of one's clients lacks integrity and honesty in my estimation. What I was happy with was the thoroughness of inspection, the ease of access to mechanic notes, and the whole process in general. This is very good and top notch. I brought my car in, and they took it back right on time. They have a little waiting room with chairs, free WiFi, and water. (There are no tables, but there was plenty of room for me to get some work done while I waited.) My car was done within an hour. They were friendly, quick, and didn't charge me an arm and a leg. After discovering a slow leak in my tire on Monday, I had set an appointment for Tuesday with another tire company to repair or replace my tire. When I arrived for my 7am appointment, the manager told me that a technician wouldn't be in until 8am. Totally unacceptable, given I had to be in Clermont by 8:30am and it takes 30 minutes to get there. With fingers crossed, I drove towards Clermont and passed multiple tire companies on my route...all closed. Did a quick Yelp search and found Trawick's Garage. These fine folks open at 7:30am. They took my car into the repair bay within 5 minutes of my arrival, located a nail in my tire, repaired the damage and had me on my way in less than 30 minutes. The cost of the repair was under $20. Let me be upfront. The mechanics are great. Prices are good and service seemed honest. However, the lady who runs the front desk is an absolute jerk. I came to the garage around 4:49 on Friday and asked about a simple job (having wheel locks removed). They said they had closed up and I was disappointed but I understood. I can the next Friday at 4:24 asking about the same job and she said, "I told you we don't take cars after 4." I said shoot I didn't know that and she repeat the same sentence. I said I didn't hear if she did tell me and hung my head for a sec as I did she repeated the sentence in a progressively condescending tone. Finally I look up and said I did say you didn't say that I just don't remember. She bobbed her head and said it two more times. I said you should probably have a little more empathy and walked out the door. I was shocked by her. I went 100 feet down Vineland to Hudson tire and they took care of me straight away. I'll never go there again. Again just being honest I gotta give it to their good mechanics & but they got really bad customer service. read more

SUBSTANDARD WORK, DEFENSIVE, AND UNAPOLOGETIC I am a full-time RV'er--this means that my wife and I live full-time in our trailer. I use my truck to pull the trailer around the country. It is imperative that I keep my truck in top condition so that "my house," my wife, and I, are not stranded someplace because of an avoidable break-down. I took my Ford diesel pickup into Traywick's Garage because it was losing coolant. I told Elizabeth that, because my engine was a diesel, that it needed to have supplemental coolant additive added to the coolant to protect the engine--she knew nothing about this required additive. Supplemental Coolant Additive (SCA) is vital for the health and longevity of any diesel engine. Diesels, particularly the Ford Powerstroke (my engine), are prone to a problem called cavitation (or liner pitting). They pressure tested my cooling system and said I had leaks at the upper radiator hose and at the water pump. They over-pressurized the cooling system and managed to spray coolant over the top of the engine area causing spotting of the area. They replaced the water pump and tightened the hose clamp on the upper radiator hose and sent me on my way. After leaving the business, I discovered that my coolant reservoir was COMPLETELY EMPTY and that the radiator petcock (drain valve) was broken. I thought that I was still losing coolant somewhere, maybe into the engine itself--it scared the "h..." out of me! After refilling the coolant reservoir myself, and test driving the vehicle, I determined that there was no leak and that Traywick's had simply failed to completely refill the system. I called Elizabeth at Traywick's and told her what had happened and that I had taken my truck to a Ford dealer, out of the area (I was traveling), for remedial work and asked her to reimburse me for that work. She agreed to have me email her and provide her with photographs of the broken petcock and of the invoice from the Ford dealer. In my email, I asked her to call me after she reviewed it--she never called. After two weeks, I called her. She was defensive and unapologetic, said they "never touched the petcock," and refused to reimburse me. Below is the last written communications I had with Traywick's--read it, if you like, and judge for yourself about the level of service that I was provided. __________________________________________________________ January 8, 2018 Elizabeth: I think you have made poor business decisions on a number of issues in dealing with me: 1. Failing to respond to my e-mail from almost two weeks ago, after YOU asked me to send it to you, and simply hoping that the problem would go away. 2. Not apologizing for the problems I have had after having your shop work on my vehicle and for the aggravation/worry that I went through when I saw that my coolant reservoir was EMPTY after your shop supposedly refilled the system. 3. Not agreeing that your shop's work should have been better--i.e., taking responsibly for releasing a vehicle to a customer without making sure that the coolant system was properly refilled--I believe that fits the definition of "substandard" work. 4. Not recognizing that in the interest of customer relations you should have agreed to pay for the follow-up work that I paid for, as a gesture of "business goodwill." 5. Being argumentative in your follow-up e-mail today. We consumers of automotive repair services must rely on the competency and integrity of the businesses we ask to provide services. We can ask for recommendations from friends/family and check reviews on internet business review sites, but ultimately, we have to trust that businesses will treat us fairly and do the work we ask them to do in a competent fashion. I do believe that your mechanic did not touch the radiator petcock (not "peacock" as you wrote). He, however, obviously did not run the engine after replacing the coolant to be make sure that an "air bubble" was not in the system--this is why the coolant reservoir APPEARED FULL, when in-fact, the system was six (6) quarts low. If this had happened to other, less knowledgeable, consumers in my position, they would most probably have taken their vehicle to a shop for diagnosis and repair, resulting in additional costs to them. At this point, and based on the five issues listed above, I will be utilizing the internet to post comments on various business review web sites about my experiences with your business. I will also be contacting Winter Gardens RV Resort and relating my experiences with your business and suggesting that they reconsider recommending your services to their customers and, further, suggesting that they consider removing your ad from their park's brochure. Again, I think you have made a series of poor business decisions in dealing with me. Terrible service. Waste of money. Their $75 diagnosis was wrong, then charged $90 to connect a part to nothing. Said they checked parts that were not even in the engine, claimed to have done all that can be done without taking the engine apart (not true at all). When asked for a refund, they refused and said I should have just fixed it myself or find another garage next time, which is the only bit of accurate information they ever gave me. Here's the whole story if you're interested: Last week on Friday, my wife went to start up her Expedition after picking up the kids from school. It made a loud bang and proceeded to idle rough with a lot of noise. I was very busy that weekend and the following week, and we needed the car fixed quickly. We decided to drop it off Sunday evening at Traywicks so they could work on it Monday. On the 2 mile trip to the garage, the banging stopped, the engine started to misfire and then stall. Traywicks said they would charge a $75 diagnostic fee to figure out what was wrong. Then said it was the ignition coil and that it would be $90 to fix. I knew this didn't seem like the whole of the issue because a bad ignition coil doesn't make all those noises, it just creates a misfire in the engine. But they had the vehicle and I just needed it working so I told them to go for it, thinking they would find the next issue once they replaced the coil. After replacing the coil, the engine was still misfiring, but not stalling. They declared victory and asked for payment. They showed me the blown coil they took out, and explained what they did and observed. I asked if they had checked the spark plugs and fuel injectors and they said they had, and that the misfire is probably due to some internal compression issue (much more complex to fix and I wasn't about to do that for this old engine). Still unsatisfied with the answers, but unable to prove anything otherwise, I paid them and left. After driving on 7 cylinders for a few days, I finally had the time to check the engine out myself. I discovered the actual problem in less than an hour. The spark plug (that they claimed they checked) was nowhere to be found. It had in fact blown out of the engine on Friday (destroying the old coil). This explains all the noises and symptoms driving to the shop, and with the new coil blocking the hole, it provided enough pressure to prevent stalling. But with no spark plug, there's no ignition, no ignition means no cylinder firing. Spark plug blowouts are uncommon but not unheard of. There are even repair kits for easily addressing the issue and getting it fixed. None the less, when I asked for my money back due to their diagnosis being very wrong and the repairs incomplete (with the coil they replaced being attached to nothing), they said they would not give a refund. What happened next was extremely unprofessional and insulting. They told me I was wrong and that a missing spark plug is "ridiculous", insisted it was there before and that next time I should just fix it myself. Even asked why I would have brought it in if I was so able to fix it myself. Well, I was busy and was willing to pay someone to fix it for me, that's what mechanics are for. There was definitely no spark plug when they returned the car to me because when I removed the coil, there was no spark plug in the hole, or attached to the coil, and it didn't just disappear. When trying to put a new spark plug in, the threading had nothing to grab on to because the threading had been stripped out when the old one blew. So I know they didn't put one in either. This is something so basic but they refused to even acknowledge it as a possibility, to the point they basically accused me of lying about it. I'm sure this garage is capable of making basic repairs, but don't trust them, or their $75 diagnostic. read more
