I bought new tires and had them installed. They seem great. The top line here is that my tires got on and I managed to join my family for an evening event. Everything worked out. But, the middle part was a little messy. I made a 2:30 appointment at 2:00 and drove over. I busied myself until 4:00 and came back. It -- a tire change -- was done and I left over two hours later. I had just had AAA change the tire because my lug nuts were too big for the tire iron that came with the car. I asked if they could give me smaller lug nuts, they said they could, and that didn't happen. I asked if they could put the spare back on the swing gate (I drive a Wrangler) and they did, but I had to help them with the rear camera cover (which has to come off for this operation.) I'm sure they would have gotten there eventually and I was glad to do it, but I was at this point 3 1/2 hours in and feeling pretty provoked. When I drove off, I noticed the left tires were at 38 psi and the right tires were at 34 and 41 psi. They're all in range, but it seems weird that they're different. read more

Dwayne and the folks at the counter well that's another story. They are nice, possibly short staffed. However, I call to get an estimate on the parts, but get NOTHING but put on LONG HOLDS or PROMISES of an emailed estimate. At this point I KNOW they have called ID b/c when I call, they say NOTHING but put me on hold. They never call back nor answer. Downgrading four stars to one star. TL;DR: It's not that there was a problem, which there was. It's that Pep Boys has not stood behind their work. Car won't start so I arranged roadside assistance for a jump start. I drove it back to Pep Boys hoping for some warranty on this "8 year battery" that they installed five years ago (that's the 12/22/2018 four star review). No, that's not how it works I was told. The warranty is much shorter than that. So I paid full price for a new battery. Okay, I guess I understand. A week later, I go to start the car. Dead again. I had road service come and jump start it. I drive it directly to Pep Boys and they diagnosed it as needing new battery terminals. $180 for that service. (No warranty on the battery terminals they installed five years ago.) A week later, I go to start the car. Dead again. I had road service come and jump start it. I drove it to Pep Boys and this time, it's diagnosed with needing a new alternator and a new battery. No charge for the two week old battery but I was charged $800 for the alternator replacement. Two weeks later (hey, I don't drive much!), I go to start the car. Dead again. This time, road service tried to jump start it and it would not take the jump. Totally dead. Pep Boys paid for a tow to their shop where I told them, "Keep it for a week if you need to. Fix it right this time." They diagnosed that the ground fault circuit needed replacing. $500 for this and I'm now wondering if they misdiagnosed the battery terminals and the battery and the alternator. Did I pay over $1500 for repairs I didn't need? Jump forward to me reaching out to Pep Boys by email. A few days later, I got a call from "Field Leadership" who said that they would refund the last repair, I just need to come into the store with the credit card. So I do that and the store manager says, "No, we can't do that from here. You need to have corporate do that." So I again emailed corporate on June 10. They replied and said I would hear from someone. I waited ten days to write this review. When Pep Boys sees this, it is case ID 134772. I will update again but if there is no further update, it means they not only don't stand behind their repairs, they also don't stand behind their word. I need to find a new national chain for repairs. And if you're sitting at Pep Boys waiting on your vehicle, I recommend Madison Perk Coffee Bar across the street. This is the second time I went to this Pepboys and both times the customer service was great. I worked with Kaleb the first time and I had to have my car towed there for a battery replacement. Kaleb was very helpful and kept me in the loop throughout the whole process. The second time I went I needed a headlight replaced, and this time Duwayne was very helpful for a walk-in and I was done and out the door in about an hour. One of if not worst place to get car repaired. They do a lipstick job AT BEST and DONT make an appointment. Drop your car off or you will be there all day literally regardless how big the job is. The turnover there is astounding, which should tell you all you need to know. I paid a lot to have my car fixed only to have it all redone by another place a year later because it was all done incorrectly. They used used parts and/or incorrect parts. Awful. Dropping off I thought they were so nice and pleasant. I then got talked to so rudely the next day when I called to check on the status. I decided to pick my car up rather than leave it there and when I picked it up the employee was nice enough but kept trying to make excuses for the other employee who was rude to me. He then promised he'd get the part I needed in and make sure was car was repaired. I said with the way I was talked to I will never return, Well, I took my car to my regular mechanics today. The part needed is on back order AND there's been a recall and I should be taking it to my dealership to get done for free. I dropped the Bronco off on a Saturday morning at 9 AM, without an appointment, for an oil change. When I asked how long it would take, the customer service rep chuckled and basically said how much time do you have? When I suggested that we were headed across the street to get breakfast and would take the slow walk back to arrive in about two hours, they tentatively agreed, but suggested it would be closer to 12. That's exactly what it ended up being. We went across the street had breakfast, shopped a little bit at uptown and returned right at 12. They texted me as I walked in. Definitely not the fastest oil change but it should be a bit faster at $130. read more

Today (11/29/2025) I came to pep boys to get a tune up. It took 2 hrs for the time up. But before I got there I tried to schedule an appointment and I couldn't schedule one because apparently they had time. When I got back into my car I noticed my car was rammed into and some times where taken. This was not even 1 hrs after I got my car done. I called to speak to the manager DEWAYNE and he processed to ask me why I didn't check my car before I left. When I get to the store I'm talking to one employee about the situation and another come out of nowhere and say "b**** we didn't steal nothing get out" I then go off THENNN Dewayne comes out of nowhere and come at ME and not his employer or try to see why I'm irate . The Service Manager Duwayne Lee has a heavy accent which led to confusion about the actual price of the repairs I had done, and he was rude to me when I asked him to repeat himself because I couldn't understand what he was saying at times. It is not my intention to misunderstand anybody, but if I truly cannot understand what someone is saying, I'm going to kindly ask them to repeat themselves. He told me on the phone that the parts would be cheap, and told me in his own words that the total would be "ten nine two." "Ten nine two" is not an actual number, it's confusing, and any professional should know to give their customer's their total in a clear, precise way as to avoid confusion. This led me to believe that the repairs were far cheaper than they were, so I gave him the go ahead to work on my vehicle. When I arrived at the shop to pick up my vehicle and was told that my total was much larger than it sounded on the phone, I was obviously a bit shaken up and had questions. He barely acknowledged my questions as he was on several different phone calls at once, walking away, shaking his head at me, multi-tasking, and not giving me his full attention. I could not understand his reply to one of my questions so I asked him to repeat himself and he said "I'm speaking English. It's not that hard." I think it is also important to note that the part that led to my total being much higher was not included on my initial inspection report and so I had no way of knowing this part was meant to be included in my repairs. All I had to go off of was a grainy phone call with a man who struggles to make himself understood and in which he told me that the parts would be cheap when they were anything but. read more

I had breaks changed at the lake Wylie location about a month ago. Fast forward to the present , I'm driving down the highway and I almost get in a car accident because one of my front tires lock up. Upon getting a tow truck we discover it's due to the break caliber falling off into the rim. The technician at PepBoys has to get a crowbar to knock the caliber loose and we find out that it was due to the bolt that holds the caliber in place fell out. The technician was apologizing that they didn't screw it in tight enough and that it caused damage to my wheel and I needed to get a new tire. So when the technician told the guy in the front to order me a new tire, he said no and that management would need to approve it first. I waited a week for a call and nothing happened so I called the store and the same guy answered the phone and basically said there's nothing he can do. I called corporate created a case that was "elevated" and was expecting a call within 24 hrs. It's been 4 days. I called again yesterday morning and still nothing. In the meantime my trucks wheels are making a noise when I drive. read more

I had an appointment to get new tires on my car set for 9 am. I was told that it will take about 1.5 hours because they had a vehicle that they were working on and someone called out so they were short staff. I left my vehicle and called about 1140 to see if it was ready. Of course it wasn't and was told that they're working on it. 15 minutes later I was called by the manager who told me that the lug nuts was broken off by his employee, which later on he admitted to the employee coming to him saying that the lug wasn't coming off easily. Instead of calling, explaining and asking what do I want to do, he decided to break the lug nut off. Then he called me and tried to charge me roughly $5 each for the parts and $298 for labor. I told him no. I go to pick up my car and then am informed that another lug nut was broken off which only left me with 2 lug nuts after waiting around for another 30 minutes. I had an amazing experience at this Pep Boys. I went in on a Thursday evening asking about a replacement for my front brakes. It was late and they requested I make an appointment and come back in the morning. I was assured that my appointment would be taken before any walk in and I secured the first appointment for the day. Wow- the early morning team at this Pep Boys were super friendly and willing to explain every detail of replacing my brakes to me. I enjoyed the experience really. The seating area was nice and well lit. They offered coffee with actually edible creamers and sugar, even the bathroom was wonderfully clean. The whole experience was completed within and hour and I left out with time to spare before work and with fresh front brakes. I received a mail in rebate and a warranty on the pads... I brought my car to PEP BOYS for 3 days waiting for my warranty to go through while it was out there, once it did my car was there for a whole extra day being untouched while im being told they have other customers to attend to and how busy they are. I feel like they get off on customers especially women if you don't really know much about your car, they kept saying you gonna be $300 something and now the price goes up to $450 theirs know direct price upfront so you can know what you can affor. This place blatantly ripped me off. I called to check on my car after 4 days (was told 3 at most when I dropped it off) and they still hadn't diagnosed it so I told them not to do anything with it after I hung up and contacted a tow truck. When I go to get it towed to an actual dealer, they claimed that in the 20 minutes it took for me to hang up and call the towing company, they were able to diagnose my transmission without even taking it into the garage(?). When I asked how they could tell I needed a new master cylinder, clutch and flywheel without looking under my car, they stated they supposedly jacked it up in the parking lot (which is a blatant lie when you have $10k machines for lifting cars in the garage 20 feet away). When I called them on this they stated their mechanics were professionals and "knew what they were doing". Since I was strapped for time I paid and then dealt with corporate to get a refund, who I will say displayed a higher level of ethics than the employees who ripped me off and promptly directed me through the proper channels to get a refund in the same day. Crazy that they could just lie right to my face when calling them on the impossibility of it, and then they try to make it look like they're helping by giving me a 30% discount on said scam. read more
