Pros: the staff was so nice and so kind. They were definitely there when I needed them. They told me it would take 90 minutes and I only took 45. The bathrooms were clean. Cons: I got new air filters and Freon. Online it says it should cost me $100-$400. I ended up paying $530. But I was on a road trip and I wasn't in my hometown and I just wanted to get home. Plus, maybe I could've made it home without AC, but my dog was in the car and he could not have made it home. read more

I have been bringing my cars to this shop for 14 years. After bringing my car in for a brake job and using a coupon that indicated it was good for up to two brakes, I was told that they would only allow it to cover one. First saying that it was good for only one axle (two tires). when I pointed out that the car has 4 axles (independent suspension), they then switched to saying it was good for just "one brake system". None of this is included in any of the details in the coupon. Bottom line, Pep Boys lost a customer that has spent more than $10k over the years, because they refused to acknowledge that they were trying to double charge me for s simple brake pad replacement. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I took my car to Pep Boys for safety issues. I had originally taken my car to the dealership for unrelated reasons. They of course give you a printout of other maintenance issues or repairs that are needed but, they were too pricey. I decided to find a repair shop that I could trust and depend on for almost any repair or maintenance. So I called and made an appointment at Pep Boys. I told them that my car didn't feel safe to drive. Long story short they ended up fixing the wrong side of the vehicle and leaving the damaged part untouched. I have to take it somewhere else to have the correct part replaced. Never go to that place. I ended up paying double what I should have. read more

A one rating is being kind! I brought my vehicle into Pep boys at 6534 E NW hwy after hitting a pot hole! They informed me that repairs would be in excess of 1600 dollars and that they would have my car back to me by that evening! 3 days later I picked up my car and it was in a far worse condition than when I initially brought it in! I was appalled at how they had the audacity to give me back my car in such an horrific condition after paying over 1600 dollars! I took it to Firestone who gave me an assessment of what damage was done! They bent certain parts, charged for things not repaired and put wrong parts in wrong places! Firestone informed me that my car was hazardous to drive and that I should not be driving it! I brought it back for them to correct the damages they've done and still my car is in a horrible condition! I'm forced to now have to pay over 3000 dollars to repair what they should have repaired and to additionally repair the damage that they caused,Do yourself a favor and stay far away from Pep boys , but specifically the one located at 6534 E NW hwy with the manager Jessie! read more

Ethan Goober has a funny way of being professional. I was in for a simple inspection yesterday, everything was fine outside of the dude running the front desk asks me for my keys (which I just handed to him / he misplaced). 45m later everything was good to go, or so I thought. I show up to register my car, and their Tech Timothy Williams entered the license plate number wrong, mixing up the letters. Ummm, ok? This peeked-in-highschool tool, Ethan Goober, refused to apologize for his tech's ignorant mistake and refused to take any accountability. If you see Ethan Goober, know that he's an unprofessional, miserable little hack and Pep Boys / a pitiful man-child attitude is all he's got going day in and day out. No customer service, just told me to "Take it up with Pep Boys" and hung up. Yeah, okay. I'll take it up with Pep Boys, no problem, Ethan Goober. I regret giving Pep Boys any money. Not worth the trouble and wouldn't be surprised if something goes wrong with my vehicle in the next few days. Thankfully Firestone, just across the street, gave me a great laugh about Pep Boys as they assisted me. Go there so you don't have to deal with big, bad Ethan Goober. It's hilarious that an auto professional can't enter in 6 correct characters for a State inspection and even better that Ethan Goober has an attitude vs actually helping customers with about the lack of skills floating through the building. I sent a complaint to Pep Boys "Customer Relations" and have my expectations set lower than Ethan Goober and Timothy Williams' IQs combined! To think, I would've returned with thousands of more dollars worth of work to my precious little Unlimited Wrangler has Ethan Goober simply apologized for the mistake, professionally offered I come back in with expectation to have a correct inspection performed with the correct information, and at the very least just provided customer service and not his SOUR PUSS ego. Purchased tires in April 2021. Unfortunately the lane car we have you can't reset the tire sensors. Yes we have gone to the dealer to reset. Even they can't do it. Anyways, they were a little unfriendly then. Like he was annoyed to have customers. I had gone back to get air in one of my tires. The mechanic nicely put air in but the manager came out to view what we were doing. I thanked them and said I would be back if the air was low again. Thought it might just be a temp change. It wasn't. I went last week just before thanksgiving. The manager was a bit more friendly. I told them I wasn't in a hurry and that I would pick it up when finished. He appreciated my patience. One small nail repair at no charge always makes that extra money spent on the warranty worth it. What was more worth it was the discussion I had with the manager. Like everyone, 2020/2021 was not a kind year for him. He's really a good guy. He does care about the customer and making sure you are safe in your vehicle when you leave. I had my vehicle towed here strictly because it was late and the only place open that I was close to. I was quoted a ridiculous amount for the repairs needed. They told me I could call in the morning to let them know what I wanted to do since it was late and they wouldn't be getting to my car until the next day anyways. In the morning, I called around to get quotes from some other shops and was quoted almost half the price of what PB told me for the repairs needed. I told them it was the starter and still said it was reading in good condition. They installed a new alternator and still had the same problem I initially went for. I took my car in for an oil change and to check and fix my brakes since my brakes squeak a lot and my car shakes when I brake at times. A couple of hours after I dropped it off the front desk Serviceman called me and told me my front rotors were worn out and would need to be replaced. When I asked about the cost to replace them he said it would cost $1,344 dollars which is ridiculous. Of course I told him to leave it alone. I honestly don't understand why they charge so much since the rotors themselves are not that expensive. Needless to say, I will not be going there again. read more

I just walked out of Pep Boys. I am sitting in the parking lot writing this review. it simply could not wait. I must save anyone else from the irritation that I have just endured. Hopefully I'll earn myself some good karma for this review... I took my car to this Pep Boys for new brake pads. Simple enough, right? Wrong. First of all, i walked in and there were 5 people waiting in line while this guy took call after call, chatting it up with someone on the other line as if there was no one in front of him waiting. I had let my brakes go way too long so I didn't have much of an option so I decided to stay and get then done. I got my brakes done and and over the next couple of weeks, they squeaked louder and began to grind. I took my car back and they said that I would have to leave my car there overnight (not the best idea considering the area and the fact that I have to WORK in the morning). He gave me the alternative to bring it back the next day. I brought it back and was told the same thing- that I'd have to leave it overnight for someone to look at it. Can you say FRUSTRATING?! You'd think they would make this a priority because it's their bad...Instead they're giving me the runaround. I am beyond annoyed. $200 down the drain. read more

Other than the waiting room being kinda grungy and dirty, I don't have any complaints. I had to have some minor mechanical work done to my car and after having ordered the part the week prior, I arrived at my appt. time and I was out in about an hour and could tell a noticable difference in the my car's ride when I drove off the lot. The gentleman behind the counter who assisted me on both visits was professional and polite and I drove off feeling like they did a great job on my car and I paid 1/2 of what the dealership quoted me. They made a bad morning way better. The gentleman at the desk was friendly and helpful - recommended a little healthier choice for breakfast while I waited. They did a tire and a battery for me - gave me several options for both. Told me it would take an hour and they beat it. It was nice to wander through the store and I bought some air fresheners because my wife's car smelled like jack in the box mixed with sweaty socks. The waiting room (saw some complaints) was fine with free coffee and water. It's not like going to the BMW dealership or anything, but come on man - it's Pep Boys. I came to Pep Boys for an Oil Change. When I walked in the store, it was gloomy, dingy, & gutted. It was not inviting (I would not send my wife or sister there) Apparently they discontinued their retail Auto parts as I was told. The service bays were definitely dirty and they seemed disorganized After a few minutes I was dismayed to see that my tires were off the car. After I inquired, they said a tire rotation was included in the service. No one had told me previously or was there a posted chart of service details. (Which I disliked because I use Discount Tire for all my tire needs). I must say, the service was prompt and the customer rep (Luis) made up for it with courteous and friendly service. In my opinion it looks like the company is going downhill and the employees are doing all they can to help their customers. I do not recommend them, nor will I return. read more

I will never return to this pep boys or any pep boys. I came in to get my alternator fixed. I told the employee it was the problem. He didn't think that was the problem. They charge a fee just to check. I was told it would be over 400 for the part and it's REFURBISHED. That seemed a bit high so I bought my own and brought it in. That alternator tested at under 13 so I payed these mechanics to install and uninstall the alternator. It wasn't their fault, but I never saw the numbers on the device...only on the paperwork they gave me. I don't know if I trust these people, but I paid over 800 for an alternator and some wasted manual labor. I will say that they took off some of the price of the labor, but it was not to my satisfaction. Oh yeah and they do this cool new text update system. It includes the step "sanitize". They definitely do not sanitize. I saw them wipe my wheel with a dirty rag. I got a napkin and some hand sanitizer to clean... and what was left on my wheel was shocking. I've bought several batteries at this location and each time I bring one back it's the same crap "your battery is bad."This last time I bought a battery for my car...I don't use often. I returned it after a year and guess what the battery was bad. I will never walk In another Pep Boys no matter how stranded I might be. Customer service is awful is just another reason for my anger. They said to leave it with them and they would call the next morning with a diagnosis. No call, no follow up. When we went back to the store, they had forgotten about it. I booked an appointment for a Sunday morning and was in and out in just over an hour for an oil change and state inspection, which seems very reasonable. The guy behind the register (I think his name was Chris) was exceptionably friendly, and managed to keep his great attitude in spite of an extremely rude customer who was in front of me. This is an Easter Miracle story. Children--gather 'round. After a hellish week of junior high band prep for UIL contest on Thursday, (and with Friday being a school holiday), I awoke on Friday morning with our straight 1's at contest still fresh on the mind. The afterglow of 6 months of 7am sectionals and score study and rehearsals X infinity was wearing off as I happily went down to my car so I could take my absolute piece-of-JUNK Sprint cellphone back to their crummy store once again. It hasn't worked in about a week. Coming around the corner I see that my nice left-rear tire is flat. Well, goody-hooray! Remembering how my spare is also flat (they say it can't be fixed), I knew immediately how screwed I was because my *phone* doesn't work to *call* anybody! Excellent super-fun! And what do you know, nobody in my urban loft dwelling owns their own air tank. Now I am skipping much of the story to the point where I had already gotten help from someone to air up my spare and hope it held long enough for me to get to a DISCOUNT TIRE so they can fix my flat real tire for free (you know, they do that). I have gone to Discount Tire for a long time and have no complaints--they do fix flats for free and ask you to buy future tires from them, which I have done. I've had tires fixed there before, but they attempted to fix my spare (which they said they don't normally do) and then declared it was unrepairable. Which is what left me in the lurch today. Thanks. They also have a brilliant talent for being closed when I need them. As I drove up Abrams to Northwest Hwy., racing against time and the measely puffs of air left in my spare, I was thinking "I bet those suckers are closed for Good Friday", then I'd think "Nah--that'd be too stock. The forces of the Universe wouldn't dare go that far in ruining this day." As I drove up to Discount Tire, I had to chuckle quietly but insanely to myself as I saw no cars in the parking lot, all garage doors closed and shuttered, and a nice big white sign that said "Closed from 12 to 3 for Good Friday". Guess what time it was? 12:10. If those idiots had been able to fix my spare, I would've gotten there in time for them to fix my real tire! This is where I start really laughing maniacally like the Joker. So, what was I to do? I had no phone, no friends, and about 23 seconds of air left in my spare. I looked around and saw a Firestone across the street and a Pep Boys behind me. Since Firestone has historically charged me about 5 times what their services are worth and ripped me off on a couple of occasions (you need a new discombobulater here, $599.99), I opted for the emergency Pep Boys visit. So I drive up and this fattish kind of older dude who is a superviser seems confused. I walk him through all the steps of me giving him the car keys and explaining I need a tire in my trunk fixed, that the spare has a leak too but I was told was unfixable. The garage bays were fairly clean, there was a crew of dudes bustling around, but the payout counter and waiting room were filthy. Broken TV, no space, and lots of thugs hanging around coughing and sneezing. Great. I wandered the store a bit, got bored and hit the waiting room to watch through the window as they worked on my car. It was already up in the air and they had my spare off and were working on it. I'm like "idiots--not that one". But whatever, I let 'em waste their time. Then my real tire came out and they worked on it. Took about 20 minutes--the guys were all about business. I wondered how much it was gonna cost for all this. $20? $30? But I was prepared to pay whatever just to get it done. Finally they dropped my car back down with the normal tire on it. I watched the guy struggle getting my spare back in the trunk with all the gizmo-jacks and whatnot, but he finally did it. Dude looked like someone out of "From Dusk Til Dawn". Anyhow, he drove the car around and the fat guy got the keys from him. I was waiting on the price tag (and here's the Easter miracle), and the slower, fat white guy simply handed me the keys and mentioned "we fixed the spare too. Here you go." I was like "huh? uh, they said the spare couldn't be fixed." And he said "no, we fixed it." I'm cautiously allowing myself to think "No charge?" but I didn't say it out loud. I just sort of took the keys from him, he said "think of us next time you buy tires" and I said "uh, I will?" and about-faced myself out to the car and got the heck out of there! So, to summarize, I'm giving them 4 stars for being efficient and good (and free) when I needed them badly, but couldn't give them the 5 for being pretty dirty in some areas (waiting room) and no functioning TV or radio. I've had a few visits to this Pep Boys since I used to live down the street. Most visits were a couple of years ago, until recently. The last visit was to buy some new brake light bulbs. The guy that was helping me seemed kind of clueless at first, but then he ended up replacing the bulbs for me. Score! I was here another time when I was having an issue with my battery, and it was just a loose cable, so the guy tightened it up for me and didn't charge me anything. Another time was to get an alignment, and that was pretty uneventful, except it took FOREVER, and the waiting room looks like a scene out of the movie Saw. It was gross and nothing to look at but white walls and a non-working TV. I could have easily lost my mind sitting in there for too long. The biggest (and best) surprise was that there was no surprise! Time for an oil change and tire rotation and found that Pep Boys had a $19.99 weekday special if you booked the appointment online. I'll admit it: I was expecting at least a couple "gotchas" but was hoping that they wouldn't cost too much over the offer. Booked online and headed over at the appointed hour. "Sir, we need a couple bits of information..." Here, we go... I'm going to have to tell him every stinkin bit of information I already gave online. Grrrrr! Oh wait, he just asked for a couple of contact items that I didn't fill out online. "Would you like us to rotate the tires?" Here's the upsell, just like I thought. Grrrr! "Of course, there's no extra charge for the tire rotation." Oh, okay. Nice. "We'll start working on your car right now and you can either stay in the waiting room with free Wi-Fi or we can give you a ring when it's done; your choice." Uh, huh. Bracing myself for the call stating "We found a couple of things..." Oh well, may as well head over to El Pollo Regio for some lunch while I wait for the call. My pollo carbon came, was enjoyed with some very hot and delicious sauces and I sauntered back to Pep Boys to wait in the waiting room an extra 5-10 minutes while my car was finished up. The guy is coming over, so time to brace myself... "I can ring you up over here. $21.05." WHAT!? $19.99 + $21.05?! I knew it!??? Oh wait, I haven't paid the $19.99 yet; and with tax... Okay, that's what they promised. "One thing..." I KNEW IT!!! "We found a nail in one of the tires...." Son of a guns! How much is this going to tack onto my $21?! "... so we just fixed it. No extra charge." Okay, that's better than they promised. As I drove away, I had a smile on my face a mile wide at having experienced great service at a great price with no upsell, hard sell or underperformance. Here's how it works. They don't staff enough mechanics, but they purposely try to keep all service bay's full. Therefore if you'll watch..one mechanic will kind of half ass work on 2-3 cars (without really finishing one car from start to finish).
