I brought my car to Pep Boys (Store 1826) for a simple tire rotation and ended up dealing with a very concerning situation. After service, I saw my car driven toward the front of the building, but no one returned with my key. When I went outside, my car was completely gone from the property. No one informed me that my vehicle would be taken off‑site. When I asked where my car was, I was told they "drive every vehicle around the block" after service. Later I was told the test drive requires reaching 60 mph--which is impossible "around the block," since the surrounding roads are 25-30 mph residential areas. My vehicle's energy‑consumption data showed three distinct spikes. The two largest spikes are my own, and both occurred when I merged onto the highway. These are the only two highway‑speed accelerations in the entire past 100 miles of driving. The third spike--on the far right--is the energy consumed during the Pep Boys test drive. It stands out clearly as an outlier, especially when compared to my 200‑mile and 100‑mile driving history, which shows that I do not accelerate aggressively or drive at high speeds. When I finally got my key back, I was told the service was "completed," meaning the vehicle had in fact been taken to speeds exceeding 60 mph--double the posted speed limits in that area. A tire rotation does not require a high‑speed test drive, and certainly not without notifying the customer. The lack of communication, the disappearance of my vehicle, the conflicting explanations, and the evidence of high‑speed driving were unacceptable. Last time I try these name brand repair shops. Got a tire change, mechanic noticed and voiced his observation of surface scratches on my wheels. I acknowledged. Got my tires replaced (1st time my tires have ever been replaced since owning the car and I'm the original owner) Got my car back and check out the (new) "scratches" they've added from removing wheel weights for the new tire. Would not recommend going here, too much of a money grab. Went on about giving veteran discount saying he'd help where he can, not one notation on the receipt regarding any type of discount nor verbal. Kept trying to press about tire insurance. Didn't even go over different types of tires or suggest any based off cost or longevity. Getting real tired of people constantly trying to make a quick buck off others. You retain customers with quality work, money grabbing is short term gain. Only pro I can mention for this business is they were able to service my car quickly as a walk in. Apart from that, this is no better than a dealership making bogus claims for recommended service repairs, to pay for maintenance not needed. read more

Made an appointment with Pep Boys Deland. 2019 Dodge Challenger had damaged splash guard, making a groaning noise when turned wheel, needed oil change, had check engine light on. The first estimate to repair was $3000. That wasn't going to happen so I was not able to replace actuated exhast sensors (2) at $541 a piece. Ended up having to replace (2) tires at $217 a piece plust alignment, replaced damaged splash guard, tire rotation, oil change where I was charged $48 for one of the quarts of oil. Final bill was $1600. The car still makes groaning noises, the splashguard is missing pins already and I ended up at that shop over 5 hours. I will never return to any Pep Boys and will tell all my friends and family to avoid this place. I'm in insurance so I know alot of people in this area. read more

Well they got me. At first my interactions with Pep Boys was good with quality service and fair pricing. Then I brought in my over heating suv and it was payday for them. Charged me $500 for a $100 fan. I can't remember the amount of hours charged but it felt excessive. Then I also got charged for diagnosing the issue. After the repair was done it cost me $1300 and to top things off my radiator hose was routed incorrectly, the coolant cap was missing, and bolts are missing from my radiator. I had a very Faint noise when I applied my brakes nothing Major So I brought it into the pep boys in Deland to Be called and told I need a Full Complete Brake Job All Around Front, Back rotors, the entire 9 yards $1,500 I was quoted I said put it back together , I didn't even make it home ( 2 miles away) before I heard an awful noise metal on metal and when I made a turn I felt like my car was going to turn into a tri-pod vehicle I had my car towed To am mechanic in Altamonte Springs where they diagnosed the car and replaced front brakes rotors snd my A/c for $391.00 out the Door I would Never Recommend Peo Boys in Deland Horrible place to go read more

Friendly, professional honest staff at this location. I deal with Mike and the young lady tech works on my car. They have fixed a flat tire, oil changes, new tires, and windshield wipers. The rain guard brand they carry has a film that smears your windshield and never clears up. Other than that, I recommend this location for your car needs. read more

pep boys gave me an est for 2 wheel cyclinders..for 320.00..over the phone..i come in to pay 456.00..this happen 1 month ago time before my van needed 10 ply tires on it...an they put normal tires on..well they last ed 6000 miles I wont ever go back to pep boys..tired of getting screw over ..if you like to get rip off try pep boys in deland read more
