Don't bother with this location...I've called to set up appointments twice here and both times I've gotten my appointment cancelled the day before and told it was because they were behind and couldn't get to me that day. Even if I did make an appointment for the morning they couldn't guarantee they could get it completed the same day. I'm an uber driver. I only needed an annual vehicle inspection. I took it to Firestone the last time and they had it completed in a couple hours. I don't know what is wrong with the way this company is run, but I won't be going here for anything. you can't expect someone to just leave their car there and then give no guarantee you'll even be able to look at it throughout the whole day. Horrible service!!!! If you are a female and do not know anything about cars DO NOT GO HERE!!! I had a 8am appointment was told I would be out by 2pm. I went in to get my heat and defrost fixed. They tested my car and told me what part they were putting on my car and how much it would be. Well past 2pm I went up to the desk just to hear the word I had been hearing all day "" unfortunately ". Needless to say I wasn't told that I needed 2 parts in order for me to leave with heat and defrost. I was only aware of the 1 part that I paid for. Had I known I needed 2 parts at $1100 I would not have gotten anything done because my budget was $500. I was disgusted and told them how would they feel if someone did their mother or sister like that. They basically sold me a car with no tires, that's how I felt. So after it was said and done I paid $447 for 1 out of 2 parts that I needed and still left in a cold car with no heat or defrost. I suggest you think twice before you go in for service. It was a misunderstanding or miscommunication. I went in to get my heat and my defrost fixed. I was quoted a price and a part and l agreed to pay because I thought I was get my heat fixed and I wasn't told anything different until I went to ask for an update on my car. I always go to this Pep Boys location, been coming here for years for maintenance and service on my car. JD , the service manager has always been , friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. On this particular visit I needed brakes, tires and oil change. I called early in the morning and he said bring it in. I sat in the lobby and waited for my car to be serviced. The lobby is clean, a nice size with lots of plugs so you can keep your phone charged. Comfortable seats and a bigs size flat screen tv. Because of Covid they closed the complimentary Kerig machine. Yes, you will pay a pretty penny. All parts came with warranties. I pleased with my service and will return again. read more

Shady and Dishonest Service I want to share my HORRIBLE experience with Pep Boys on Farmington. I had my headlight bulb replaced, on driver side of my Honda Accord. When I left, the radio had been reset, and a needed a CODE. This has happened several times to me in the past, when I had something done that required battery removal, or turning off the security. system. I went back to the store and asked them to help me fix the issue. They told me several times they hadn't done anything to the battery, during my headlight change. They said they could run a Diagnostic on my car, for $60. I went back out and fixed it myself, (a quick Google search, to find out how to find my radio code (in the car manual packet). I went back in and told them I had solved the problem myself, I also said that I felt that they had tried to take advantage of me because I'm a female. They were not honest, because the model of my Honda requires battery removal, for headlight replacements. One of the employees started yelling at the other one, "to stop talking to me," and told me to leave the store. I strongly recommend females to not go there for car repairs alone. I recently purchased a used GMC for my daughter. Her "check engine" light came on and as part of being an "adult" she took it into Pep Boys on 8 mile road. I requested that she ask for them to run a diagnostic on the vehicle to determine what the problem was. They came back with P0011 and P0014. They came back with a $897 fee to begin taking the timing cover off and an estimate of $2,800 or more once they get in there. I was not happy with this direction or solution and wanted a second opinion. I took the vehicle to Belle Tire on Haggerty, paid for the diagnostic test again. Same results. But the difference was - they did a vehicle inspection and found that the vehicle had a slow oil leak at the valve cover and timing cover and the oil was down 4 quarts of oil. It was tripping the sensor. They put in the oil needed and wouldn't you know... the check engine light went off. I will take the vehicle into the dealership to get those repairs but - but the difference between $30 - $3,000 is the fact they went to the absolute worst case scenario. Do the vehicle inspection and from what I read up on, start at the sensors... don't start at tearing the engine apart. Pep Boys is off the list. Not to mention that when my daughter was leaving, the agent started with "so, how you do'in" and "that's a lovely name". Yeah, no. read more

I put an appointment online for brake fluid flush with the option to wait while car is being worked. But I have to drop the car and pick it up next day. They offered frequent checkins over the phone, a mobile app where you could track progress, and fair pricing. I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off, which is rare for the mechanic business. Pep Boys were the only shop open after 6pm and was able to call them and talk to my situation and they were happy to help replace my tire. I went online to schedule an appointment at 1130 , for a squeak noise coming from my rear brakes . I had them replace both rotors and pads .( just bc it's the family car). After their diagnosis said rusty rotors . It took a total of 8 hrs and 30 minutes to finish my 2sides of the truck . And yes I picked the option to wait for my vehicle to be worked on. After paying for job and driving 9 minutes to home the truck said tire monitor system check.... So they have me scheduled another appointment to check out this sensor. My truck never had a check service of tire monitoring system on at all until I brought it to their shop. Hopefully when go there for the service light it will be fixed . Pep boys are only human and people make mistakes . But they will never tell you that . They will push blame elsewhere.. i am frustrated that I have to take 2 full days of work off just so they can take allllllllllll day for minor problems., hoping they care to fix and I don't have to take another day off work to come back again. read more

Terrible terrible service. I was visitng from out of town and my car broke down mid trip. I called two days ahead. They said if i came in early they'd repair my car that day. When i arrived they denied telling me that and refused to believe me. I had no other choice but to keep my car there since it was towed in. I needed to get home (illinois) that day and the manager was cold and callous to my issue. I went to Enterprise, through my own research. At first i could not rent a car because i was underage (23) and did not have a credit card i had a debit card. After telling them my situation they told me Pep Boys usually sends people to Enterprise during the time their cars are getting repaired. But i guess for some reason the Pep Boys manger DID NOT think it was important to refer Enterprise to me! read more

Depending on who you get the staff will be either decent or very unremarkable. No pleases or thank-you's which are a simple courtesy for patronizing the business. The check out is right near the door where you are able to make eye contact but it's unlikely you will get someone who will say hello, welcome, or may I help you. I get the feeling they care more about themselves and making a sale than making sure the customer is completely satisfied. When I purchased brake pads I went back later to return them because they were opened and appeared slightly used or odd looking, as if they had not fit a previous vehicle, and there were no others in stock for my vehicle. The selection in this store is good on other products. They have large 5 quart oil jugs, and lots of filters from great quality brands. The later closing hour is nice if you must purchase something unexpected, but other than that I prefer to go elsewhere where the customer service is excellent. read more

This Pep Boys started off by having me wait two days before starting any diagnosis of my issue. Then, they weren't able to do anything. To top it all off, they wanted to charge me money to spend maybe 30 minutes ATTEMPTING to diagnose my issue but failing to! And keep in mind, this is an issue Pep Boys created! Will not come back. This was my first ever visit to a PepBoys. Very Impressed. I called to see if they had the brand and size of wiper blades I needed. Mr. Cliff with a very friendly personality checked and advised they had them in stock. When I arrived a young lady was wheeling out a hand truck loaded with tires. I later found out her name is Jo Marie. She has a FABULOUS attitude. While working with another clerk to get the blades, Jo heard I would like to have them installed. She immediately spoke up and said she would do it. I also, asked if I could get my windshield fluid checked while I was up there. Again Jo Maire immediately spoke up and said she would do it. While the transaction was being processed Jo had already removed the blades from the packaging and was headed to the car. The blades were installed and the fluid checked and refilled very efficiently. Out of the four people I observed working at PepBoys when I was there three of them were women. All were knowledgeable and had helpful attitudes. I am very satisfied with this experience and would diffidently go back. read more

One of the poorest service i ever had. Dropped the car for repair at 8.30 a.m, the man on the ocunter said, they will give ride back in 10 mins. Waited until 9.00 a.m, then i went to him again, he was shouting back and said until 10 a.m no ride back. I told him, you should have said this before.....he was very rude, literraly thrown the car key on my hand and said "you are good to go, you are done".....i was shocked by seeing the rude nature.... Not just me....before me there was a poor person, arguing over the prize....for simple car diagnostics he was charged 2.7 hrs labour..... Its very expensive, poor quality sercie, high attitude employees..... My last visit, and i took my car, after wasting 30 mins of my morning time with so much of disappointments.... The difference was night-and-day. Pricing for repair estimate was hundreds more than we ended up paying at a different mechanic, and what they did repair was "meh". Service was awful and indifferent. The genuine and generic automotive parts and accessories, tires, etc are available in the store more than other auto parts or tire shop near this area. The price is also cheaper. My review is not only for this shop but also for Pep Boys as a company. I've been to this shop four times within the past two weeks, and have had mixed experiences. I first went to a Pep Boys in Kalamazoo, MI and they told me I needed a new power steering pump, so I came back to where I live in Farmington Hills and ordered it from the FH Pep Boys. I was told by one associate that I needed to pay for the part when I ordered it and then was told by another associate that that was not the case - very conflicting information. My car had been shaking a lot when turning the wheel and driving, so when I ordered my pump, I also got my struts replaced, per recommendation of the Kalamazoo Pep Boys. I was told that replacing the struts had fixed the problem and I left. I received the call that my power steering pump was in last week and came in for my appointment. That day, my engine light had also come on so I wanted to get that checked out. After waiting for about an hour, a mechanic asked me to come look at my car with him, and he said that in fact I did not need a power steering pump replacement, but instead I needed a control arm and bearing replacement. My engine was not looked at and the associate with which I spoke to set up my appointment for the bearing was slightly rude and scheduled the appointment for the wrong time. read more

I originally brought my car in for low coolant levels without seeing physical leakage. They charged $607.64 for a coolant exchange, diagnosis coolant system, and a Dorman coolant recovery tank. I thought it was slightly odd since I already had it replaced around 5 years ago but I'm unaware of the lifespan of a coolant reservoir. In October, My coolant was low again. After topping my coolant off, I returned my car to the location on 11/23/19. I reported that my car was still losing fluid and had brown stain developed into brown mud (Dex-Cool doesn't like air). The next day, the associate told me that they performed a fluid leak evaluation and observed that my lower radiator hoses weren't properly connected causing a leak. He also informed me that my valve cover gasket and water outlet housing needed to be replaced. I was quoted $1,300 after paying $607.64 a few months prior. I notified the associate over the phone that I had a 15% coupon and wanted the evaluation waived. The associate reduced the price to $1,100. After shopping around, I realized I was being overcharged. My other shop quoted me $680 for the parts and labor excluding the lower radiator attachment. I called Pepboys and notified them to cancel any orders and that I was picking my car up. The associate over the phone was attempting to work with me and asked for the quote of the other shop but I declined to answer. I felt like they were being dishonest by charging me $1,300, so I didn't want to keep my car there. The associate over the phone offered to price match my estimate but, I was already en route to the location. After showing up with my grandfather, the associate begins to tell me about the mysterious brown mixture in my reservoir. He was imperceptibly hinting that it could be the head gasket. He begins to tell me that it could be oil and issues with the head gasket, but the car passed the block test and the compressor test. After talking to my grandfather, he thought it would be best to leave the car due to the possible serious circumstances. I later stopped at my other shop to get a written quote after reading the price matching policy on the website. On 11/29/19 I brought a screenshot in of the Pepboy's policy, my estimate from my secondary shop, and a screenshot of the Fel Valve Cover Gasket from Auto Zone. The assistant manager on duty told me that he couldn't do any more adjustments because the transaction had already been closed. After looking at my estimate, he continues to go on about the formatting of the estimate and how it needs to be typed and not written. The associate would not honor either one of my price matches because of the 15% already being applied. Out of this continuous problem, I was only offered 15% off and that was my coupon that came in the mail. The Valve cover from your shop was $117.58 for the same part being sold at Auto Zone for $46.99. He told me that I'm paying for an extended warranty which is humorous. For $46.99, I can buy that part twice over and still have cashback. After looking over my receipts, I was being recharged for labor and parts, due to your shop's inconsistences. Why am I being recharged for a coolant flush and exchange for the same issue that wasn't caught by your technicians? When I dropped my car off in November, I received a laundry list of issues regarding leaks. If I brought my car in for disappearing coolant in June, why wasn't a leak evaluation performed the first time around? After this situation, I don't trust this company's judgment and feel that they manipulate their customers through scare tactics. This company OFFERED me a price match but did not honor it. This company OVERCHARGED me after I was okay with taking my business elsewhere. I emailed a 3 page email to Pepboys corporate and 2 weeks has past and I haven't heard anything. This place was trying to tell me I had a head gasket issue when I car was passing the entire test and wasn't showing the symptoms of a head gasket issue. No Sir, your shop is lazy and has mediocre mechanics. read more
