I recently had my pickup checked out, and was told that the issue was the alternator. I was a mechanic for over 30 years and I knew better. I also have an A. A. in Applied Science with a major in Auto Mechanics. I knew what they told me was a joke and I was being flim-flammed to the tune of $1,000.00. A warranty is not a true warranty here, be Warned!!I purchased a battery in June of this year. Fast forward to this past Saturday (11/26/22) the car would not start. I used my own money to get the car towed to pep boys after a jump start would not work. From there I was told the battery was not holding a charge and it was defective. However, I still had to pay for a new battery. I disputed it today (12/1/22) and was told the cost came from the labor of the installation of the new battery and the price increase of a new battery. I was also told there would be no further warranty on the newly installed battery since this was the second time. At this point I do not trust any future work conducted here and will use another competitor. I called two other companies and they informed me that they would not charge for something like this and they stand by there work and products. What good is a warranty if it does not mean anything??? Times are hard and I can not throw away money every time there products fail. Be warned do not use this company! read more

Scheduled an appointment for air conditioner service at the Pep Boys on McCart Ave in Fort Worth Texas online twice. The first appointment they cancelled me by phone because there was no air conditioner guy on duty that day. When I rescheduled the following week and showed up, I was told that the A/C guy was too busy to see me and they could not honor my appointment. Just a suggestion, don't offer online scheduling if you are not going to honor the appointment and second does the owner of this business know how you operate cause you are losing customer and to top it off I got another email about rescheduling, any you serious? read more

Just before closing time on a Saturday night, my wife and I pulled in, gave description of our issue and immediately they pulled our car into the bay, lifted it up and fixed our problem without cost. Don't take your fleet vehicle here, they are more interested in saving time then the safety of their customers. I have one of the most popular trucks on the highway but they didn't have the tires. Store manager was very helpful. It makes me sad that the service department was hands down the WORST customer service I have ever had! RUDE management!!! 3 1/2 hour oil change, we had to tell the poor guy working on our car what needed to be done because the guy at the front "the manager" was to busy doing non work related thing to take 5 mins to tell the guy himself. Grrr I can go one forever on how bad this place is. Save your time and money and go somewhere else!! I see the other reviews are from years ago, so it's time they receive an updated one. I highly recommend this Pep Boys! My elderly mother and I drove to Fort Worth from Denton yesterday for a doctor appt. The a/c in her car was blowing warm air the entire drive, and I knew there was NO way she could tolerate the heat for an hour on the way back that afternoon. Out of desperation, I called AAA who referred me to a local shop. They were booked and suggested I just call a Pep Boys near me. I did, and Justin was extremely nice. He said if I could get the car to him quickly, they would work me in and try to get it done by the time my mom's appt was done. After dropping off, I received a text that had a link to keep me updated on the car's service. Justin called after an hour to let me know it was going to need additional checking and to tell me the price, which I appreciated. I called after our appt and spoke with Charles. The car was still not ready and he could tell I was worried about not getting back on the road to Denton with my mother, so he put a rush on it. Within another 30 minutes, Charles called to tell me it was ready. When I went to pick it up, he asked how old my mom was, and then gave her a 10% senior discount! He also let me know to get 3 of her tires checked in the near future - no sales pitch or pressure to do it there because he knew we were trying to get back home. This place is ridiculously slow. I called to see if they were busy and I needed an oil change. They said no, bring it in. I was there in 5 minutes. I told them I'd wait on my vehicle. An hour later they finally pulled it in a bay. It took another hour to get the oil change done! I guess I have a different definition of the word "fast". Location is professional or respectful of customer's time. I booked an appointment online with contact info, including phone number, for 4 pm. I show up on time and they tell me that the person who is supposed to do the oil change is on an hour to an hour and a half lunch break and that I'll have to wait until he gets back. I understand that businesses get backed up and are sometimes short handed because employees don't show up. However, Pep Boys should have had the contact info I submitted online and contacted to let me know they could not honor the appointment time (as opposed to telling me when I arrived). Guys, this place is pretty terrible. My A/C went out and I brought it in to get it fixed. They ended up replacing the low pressure hose thinking that would fix the problem. That was over four hundred dollars. That didn't fix the issue, so they wanted to replace the entire A/C unit. Understandable. The whole system has to be replaced. I get it. However, they wanted to charge me nineteen hundred and fifty dollars to fix that. I took it to a different mechanic and he fixed it for nine hundred and fifty dollars. That's one thousand dollars LESS than what they were going to charge me. Insane. Never returning. read more

I knew I had some break issues on my old minivan, but had no idea where to start. When they took the breaks off they found out that the caliper and a bearing had broken, and even though it was five minutes until closing, stayed there to get the new parts on for me. Excellent customer service. Will is a great communicator who is on top of everything in the shop. Chris runs a tight ship, and was able to help show me my options, and give me tips on how to keep my overall costs down. I dont know what the previous reviewer was talking about. These guys have been my go to guys for years. They have been more honest and fair with me than any other place. Went in to repair a window motor and the guy that answered the phone did his best to help me find the best price price for the part even though it wasnt with pepboys. They also remembered the work they had previously done and deducted that from my bill. Some advice is to join their rewards club. Its free and a hell of a good deal. I was having issues with the ABS on my Grand Caravan. We'd be driving down the street and all of a sudden the brakes would start pulsing. Sometimes it would happen and other times it was just a normal drive. Called several auto repair shops to get an estimate but without having the car in the shop only a general ball park figure could be given. Pep Boys asked me to bring it in and actually, they are the ones closer to my home. They said it was the Steering Angle that was causing the problem. I had never heard of that and they said they could fix it but had to order the part from a dealership nearby so I went ahead and authorized the repair. They also ordered a new ABS switch along with the Steering Angle. In the end, it turned out I only needed the steering angle replaced and not the ABS. I feel they were totally honest about this. Had I taken it somewhere else they might have said they had replaced both switches when I only needed one replaced. They would have gotten 5-stars but the communication was from my end only. I had to keep calling to check on the van's progress. I understand they are always busy but keep the customer informed about what's going on. I won't hesitate to take my van for service there; they really did an excellent job! read more

When they did my state inspection they added an extra 20K miles on the paperwork. I asked them to fix and they expected me to call the state and straighten out myself. Finally after a lot of arguing back and forth they reinspected the car and corrected the mileage. I hope it doesn't effect my Carfax. read more

Purchased a set of 4 tires with "road hazard warranty" and installation for $385. The tires were a 65,000 mile name brand tire and I am happy with them; however after 17000 miles I got a nail in the tire and it had to be replaced under Pep Boys "road hazard warranty ". I take it to this location which is where I purchased the tires and to replace my tire under their warranty cost me $115. They charged me a pro-rated charge of over half the cost of the tire which should have been no more 1/4 charge of the tire, $40 to put on the tire and another $18 for a road hazard. I have always used Firestone or Discount Tire and I will return to doing so. I filed a formal complaint with Pep Boys Corporate Office and was told I would hear from the Area Manager of the Company but have yet to hear anything; no big surprise!!! Buyer beware with this company; trust me go with Discount Tire or Firestone in the long run you will be so much happier even if the upfront cost is a few extra dollars.
