Well... I had an interesting thing that happened here at the spot. First it's just a small shop across from Maxine's just south of the traffic circle. Let's just say there were some things that happened to my car that were not happening before I pulled into the car lot. They obviously did something to cause something wrong but immediately when I told the guy it wasn't doing that before I got here.. he said OK will look at it and will fix the problem. He said if we did something they would get fixed. Everything worked out so I am a happy customer. I did have to come back a couple days later to actually get my inspection done on my car. I had two tires put on that I brought to them and air pressure was wrong so again I had to come back for that as well... But for some reason I will still say I like this place they may need to get some guys with a little more experience in the shop but they are quick to fix a mistake and very kind about it. Not to mention the guy in the front (I should have gotten his name) was very nice and friendly and had all the laughs. I will go back to this place to have my other tire put on as well... horrible place lie about warrranties had to get my pump replaced 4 times because they didn't do it correctly then 1 day later it broke again!! then when I went back the owner claimed its not their fault its the part that THEY boughts faul and they can't fix it anymore.Stay away from these people. The back brake pads and rotors were replaced on my 2014 Prius V along with the front brake pads. Kelly Blue Book gives repair cost for my car at a range of between $599- $906. I also had a state inspection and the total bill came to $562.02. Still an expensive repair, but as reasonable as possible it seems. A local Toyota dealership would have charged at least $800 to have done the same repair. I have found my mechanic and will recommend him to anyone seeking a honest auto repair business. read more

As a woman, i feel like it can be difficult to find a mechanic that isn't trying to pull the wool over your eyes and is legitimately trustworthy. I had an amazing experience with MK's Auto Service in Fort Worth (4113 Benbrook Blvd, Fort Worth, TX 76116) and would highly recommend them if you need to get any work done on your car at all. I went to Kwik Kar on Camp Bowie first and was quoted over $400 to get my car "passable" for my inspection--said i needed my thermostat and temperature sensor both fixed or it absolutely wouldn't pass. I was leery as this was a chain auto shop, so I sought out a second opinion at MK's. Roy, the manager, advised me that we should fix the thermostat first, if the check engine light in fact does come back on, we would then know that the temperature compressor needed to be fixed as well. Fast forward to today when I got my car reinspected at the 1st shop (it was free within 15 days, otherwise i would never have gone back), and I passed with only getting the thermostat fixed (at approx half the cost of the original $400 quote). The moral of the story is, trust your gut, and share when you encounter a business with integrity (or lack thereof). Go to MK's and ask for Roy! read more

Took my car in when it was leaking oil. They got me in and diagnosed right away and showed me where the leak was coming from so that I could understand the repair that they were doing. When the part came in I brought it back and they fixed it same day. The owner even gave me a ride to my house so I didn't have to wait up there until it was fixed. They genuinely care about their customers and unlike Christian Brothers they will not rip you off. Moved to town a few months ago and started taking both cars here. Sometimes they were backed up, but we always worked with them and the price point was decent. But this week I got the total run around. Called ahead on Friday with a coolant leak and was encouraged to drop my truck off first thing Saturday. They didn't get to it. Okay--no problem. Monday ... Tuesday ... checking in with them every afternoon ... still no progress. Middle of the week they promise to get to it. Thursday afternoon it hasn't moved. The manager promises me I'm next. Friday afternoon it's still there with other vehicles clearly leapfrogging me into their bays. What gives?! The manager tells me the mechanics do what they want and won't listen to him, then invites me to take my truck home and maybe make another appointment. Yeah, right--so my vehicle can sit in their lot for another week?! All people want is honesty. read more

I took my car to a lube and tune near my house to get an inspection, oil change and recharge the refrigerant in my AC system. They said they ran a diagnostic and it was indicating a broken part that would be $1,300 to fix. I took it to MK's for a second opinion, and they said let's recharge it first and see what happens, as that part sometimes won't turn on without enough pressure in the system. It immediately started blowing cold with the recharge. I left a happy customer with a whole lot of money saved by bringing my car here. It's nice to be able to trust your auto service shop. 3.5 star, if I could do it. Was on my way to a job, and noticed that I had some time to spare. Since I knew that I needed an oil change, I wondered if I could get it done on the way to my job. When I passed MK's Auto Service on Hwy 377, south of the traffic circle, the $18.99 oil change sign caught my eye. No disclaimers on the banner, other than "m/c" (most cars?) I let them know that I was in a hurry, and they got to it fairly quick. Wishing to expedite the transaction, I asked to pay for it while they did the job, but they were reluctant. After expressing my desire to get back on the road quickly, they let me pay. The surprise came when I noticed the tab was over $22. (with tax). Admittedly math wasn't a strong point for me, but even I could figure out that something was wrong with someone's math. When the question was asked about the extra fee, the guy behind the counter said that there was a $2 "disposal fee". Not exactly time to call for a zombie apocalypse, but hey, that added fee was not on the sign outside, nor on the price list on the wall near the cash register. No mention of a "disposal fee". They were quick, and barely tried to get me to upgrade to a higher end oil. I expressed my dismay, and it was passed on to another person, who might have been management. Again, not a huge deal, but it got me wondering about whether on not this practice of adding fees was a regular part of their business. They offered no apology, or refund. Makes me reluctant to go there again, or refer friends. Nice staff (other than the mentioned issue), and a clean, comfortable environment. I was hoping to bring the car back for some of the additional work it needs. Doubt that is gonna happen. This place is south of the military base, so you may get a close up look at the underbelly of a C-130, F-16, FA-18, or ??? Which is better than looking at the underbelly of a Navy ship, or Army tank. Sam and the rest of the guys are honest, fair and friendly. I went to the dealer first and they wanted $140 for the diagnostic and they wouldn't tell me an estimate and so I left. Instead I went to MK's and it was a $50 diagnostic that they'd waive it if I accepted the repair cost. I walked out an hour later with the problem solved and it only cost me $120 total! I was referred here by AA lonestar Transmission who I am now skeptical about since they do business with this company. I needed a head gasket repair for an old 2006 cobalt and Gary at lonestar Told me these guys are a-1. I can do this job myself but I have to many cars to deal with and didn't mine getting this done by some one to save me time. I call these con artists and he tells me over 1700 for head gasket. The sign on the window says "399 most cars" which is not most cars, I know that's just to get you to come in, I expected maybe about 600-700 max. I asked him the break down and he is NOT changing water pump or thermostat in this price. He could not even give me the break down of why this is so much. He started off with saying "well we have to do oil change" ....oil....f-n...oil, we talking about a 1700 tab and he starts off with a 19.99 oil change it will need....Admittedly I f-n lost it at this point. This is why people do not trust or like shop because they will get over on you with a smile on their face. Terrible place. Im sure if you go here you are being over charged. At around 1100, on or around 12 December 2016, I showed up to have my tires checked because of excessive road noise on driver side. I thought it was because the air in my tires was too low. boss, Sami, gave my car to a new mechanic to "drive and check it". He came back, told his boss it was wheel bearing problem on driver side. I agreed to have it replaced ... paid around $232. When the FIRST repair was complete, Sami came back into shop, handed my keys to me and said, "She is ready! You are good to go." This is fix #1 -- no red flags, yet. I drove away happy because there was no more noise, no vibration, and the ride was smoother. BUT .. The TRACTION and ABS lights were on because they had not been reset. Soooo ... I drove back to the shop. I HAD NOT BEEN GONE 15minutes. I told Sami about the TRACTION AND ABS lights ... He said he would "take a look" ... and handed my keys to a TOTALLY DIFFERENT mechanic from the first visit. Sami came into the lobby holding a small object in,his hand, and announced, "Your sensor is bad. You need to replace it. I will order it for you. No charge." I agreed and kept waiting. He then came back in and said something about the sensor and wheelbearing not matching ... that he had put on the wrong wheel bearing, that it did not match the sensor. He told me that he was going to order a new one. Hmmmm??? I waited several more hours ... While I waited, the first mechanic came into the lobby and announced that my socks and struts were bad and were making a lot of noise and needed to be replaced. Before this, I had not heard or felt any noise or shudders .. even with the so-called "bad wheel bearing". So I took what he said and asked how long I could wait until I needed to fix it. He advised me to do it after the holidays. After 3-4 more hours, the boss handed my keys back to me and said, "You are good to go. Everything is Okay! " I drove away for the SECOND TIME. THIS TIME, my entire front driver side wobbled, and the suspension grinded, squeaked and shuddered. Minor bumps in the road made my 5-year old JEEP sound like it was 50 years-old! BUT THE ABS AND TRACTION LIGHTS WERE OUT now! I had stayed at that shop from around 1100 until 5pm. And my vehicle drove worse than when I had first brought it in! Later that evening, I left a voicemail for the shop boss demanding to know what he had done to my car. And advised him of the new shudders and squeaks and grinding. I returned to the shop the next day and told the boss about the noises that had not been there at first "repair" without the ABS /TRACTION LIGHT. Once again,he said, "I will check this for you." and I gave him my keys. I reminded him that there had been none of that when he "fixed it" the first time. These new noises and problems only appeared AFTER he "fixed it" the second and third time ... With the additional "necessary" repairs that he told me I had to have. This time ... He gave my keys to Amir, to drive and check. This time, I rode with him so I could show him what I heard. When we get back to the shop, the boss tells me that I also need another new part ... even walks me to the shop floor to have his new mechanic Amir demonstrate the damaged equipment me. Like I know what that is! I am very angry and disappointed by now. Because the so-called errors he made, turned into unnecessary repairs, and "new" problems ... with parts of my car that did not need repair. One truly needed job, became a nickel-and-dime situation, e.g., This time ... the boss told me that my driver-side rotors needed to be replaced along with the brakes. He tried to say that my brakes were "badly damaged" because of the bad wheel bearing. And that ... the reason I had so much noise was because of the new bearing combined with the current brakes. HOWEVER ... when he "FIXED IT" THE FIRST TIME, THERE WAS NO NOISE, NO GRINDING, NO SHAKING, NOTHING ... JUST ABS/TRACTION LIGHT. So ... now I needed new rotors and brakes?! I had already had my brakes replaced by him 3-6 months ago. And then ... he had told me that it was the PASSENGER-SIDE, not driver side that needed a new rotor! I reminded him that he had already installed new brakes. He'd forgotten, and then tried tell me that I just did not understand cars. Nah! I understand my car! And I definitely understand scam and sham when I see it and hear it. I will not ever return to this shop. They have broken my trust. To my fellow Sisters ... DO NOT go to this shop alone. Called at 4:30pm on a Friday after finding a nail in my tire. Sam told me to come right in to take care of it. Nail was removed and the tire was plugged within 20 minutes. Friendly service and a $7 fee - doesn't get much better! Thank you Sam & Roy!! read more
