It was a Sunday afternoon, and Shannon answered the phone and told us to go ahead and get the truck and camper towed to them, and we could boondock in the parking lot. The next morning their mechanic, John, got right on it and manager Tyler was also super helpful. I ended up needing a new engine, they couldn't do the work for several months, so recommended I take it to the dealer. They recommended a dealer in the area, made sure I had what I needed, and was all set. The team was professional, friendly, and helpful in what was a stressful and frustrating situation. So it really ain't the people up front that are calling you or that are scheduling it's the people in the shop. I had an issue with my rims, I had to get new tires. The shop manger was completely honest when there tech accidentally gauged my rims and knocked of the price. Overall I should've been compensated for the rim, the labor and the custom powder coat that was done to them. When I took my other 2 tires in. The technician Jon, I showed him exactly how they mounted on my truck. He mounted them backwards which would have caused major issues. I explained the issues and asked them to be changed around. All I go in response was attitude from him. Very rude! He claims I told them they were front tires, which I responded no sir I showed you how they mounted onto my truck. He insisted I informed him incorrectly but I know I didn't. So he takes them back with attitude and changes them. He proceeded to scratch my custom rims again. This isn't the first time this is the 3rd time now. We are done with them. Lastly these tires weight significantly more my last set. Due to Jon's mistake he refused to help me load these tires and then I was thank you still trying to be kind I got nothing but walked away from. Thank you for this rude interaction. Very sad that a grown man couldn't help a tiny female load tires after he incorrectly completed a service and was asked to simply fix a VERY important thing for my truck to be on the road and not blow off its tires immediately. read more

Attendant had no idea what she was doing and at this point I don't even know if I'll feel safe in my vehicle after they finally get installed..NoT a good experience at all DO NOT COME HERE . Explained to them that our daughter was in chemo and asked if they would wear masks. They said "It's company policy." We drive there. One guy's mask is hanging under his nose. Okay, I'll take my chances. The heavy set lady (4:00 PM on 1/25 if anyone in corporate cares) took her mask completely off and was repeatedly clearing her throat. I said "I can't be in the room with this woman clearing her throat and not wearing a mask." Turned around. Left. I had to order a set of tires twice on October 8 and October 2. Both times I was redirected from the store because they did not have my tires. I drove 30 minutes back-and-forth to the first store to wait 45 minutes while in store to be told by the employee that they don't have my tires. I drove 40 to 45 minutes back-and-forth to the second store as I was told that was the only location that would have the tires after the first order Was unsuccessful. I called customer service twice now after being told that they would look into a discount for my wasted gas in time, as a result of their lack of awareness of when and where the tires that I ordered would be. I've been informed both times that I've called in that they've successfully updated my customer service case, and then I should be expecting a call. I have yet to receive this call and it is over a month after I made my first order later. read more

Brought my car in to have a flat tire fixed. There was a child's car seat behind the drivers seat and rather than moving the child's car seat, they forced the drivers seat all the way back - damaging my child's $300 car seat and damaging my car itself. They literally snapped the kick plate off the bolts that goes on the floor next to the pedals. They just left the kick plate on the passenger floor for me to find when I picked up my car and did not even bother to tell me they broke my shit. There are scratches and dents all over the back of my child's car seat, I don't even know if it's safe to use anymore because it was smashed in that position for almost 24 hours. The restraints on the car seat are damaged from being forced out of position in that manner. The drivers seat of my car has scratches, the back seat has a huge indentation from being smashed against the car seat for so long. Truly so rude and disrespectful. Do better read more

Have been here a few times for various service needs - easy stop for an oil change (usually) or other car supplies. Tire repair, not so much. I brought my car in twice for tire repair - the first time I had it towed there (very convenient service they offer) and they fixed my tire (+ I added on an oil change... which they forgot to do/ still had my car in the lift after calling to tell me if was complete hours prior). The second time they only checked the tire in question and I realized my air light was still on when I got home. Decided not to go through the trouble of paying for them to "fix" the tire again, so I went to another place in town that fixes them for free and inspects each tire as they do so. read more

I finally got my van back, after 2 1/2 weeks. I always had to call them for updates. they evidently had no communication between workers as to condition of vehicles. but the worst part is , after 2 1/2 weeks, and over $800, I still have the oil leaks, and to add insult to injury. I now have a dangerous exhaust leak at the drivers feet. it is hard to believe they didn't hear the obnoxious noise, when they started it. I have never in my 65 years of life, ever dealt with this level of incompetence. So I went to get my car looked at it took them a whole day to give me a diagnostic, and the diagnostic was my light sensor wasn't working. I actually went in because my glove box was broke, my breaks was making a squeaking sound, my engine light and tire lights keep coming on. I forgot to ask if they can air up my tires as well but most dealerships do it anyway... well when I first got there I was told to walk over to the other side of the counter, and I did but I was standing there for 30 min until I was like where am I suppose to be standing and he's like oh go over there and I'm thinking to myself that 4 people walked past me and didn't even ask if I needed help so then when I walked up to the counter the lady was like "I was wondering why you was standing there, how can I help you" like are you kidding me ?! So then I went ahead and told them what's going on, and she said the diagnostic probably won't be done until later that day I said that's fine, ( it wasn't done until the next morning)... so next morning comes they say that the car is done, that the piece is just sitting on top of the car, it just needs to be popped in. I'm like okay that's fine, she then tells me that she forgot to tell them to fix my glove box, I said it's cool Ill bring it back.. I finally get my car back, and I every thing is still the same ... I had a silver rock warranty the lady did tell me silver rock doesn't like paying them and it's hard to work with them ... ( I'm assuming that's why they lied about fixing my car) I took my car to my Brother because he has his own car shop , only reason why I didn't go to him is because silver rock isn't partner with them so I had to do them... they didn't fix anything!! My lights still come on, my breaks are even worse, and they told Me Nothing is wrong with my breaks that it's just rusted.. that was a lie!! Terrible experience. My car started losing power the ability to get up to speed on the roads. I took the car in to Pep Boys for a diagnosis. First of all, they completely misdiagnosed the problem (after charging me $100 for a diagnostic fee). They said it was the catalytic converters and sensors. But I took it to another mechanic for a second opinion, and it turns out the problem was a bad timing chain, which can be replaced for $900. They quoted me $3000 for a misdiagnosis. Very shady. Horrible service! I've been going here for 2 years. The price has doubled and don't perform all of the services requested. I paid over $40 for an oil change on a Chrysler 200. Oil changes come with tire rotation and air pressure check. My tires were low when I arrived and when they told me they were done. When questioned they put air in my tires, all different amounts, and I left with my car smelling like oil. After getting home I noticed my tires were never rotated. I know this because I just had a type plugged at tire barn last month. I will not be back. I could've paid the same price and went to the dealership. read more

This review just pertains to their mobile tire change service, which is absolutely awful. I blew out a tire on a Saturday evening on I-70 and used my phone to find somewhere that would come out and change the tire out on-site (because I don't know what I'm doing and I was 50-some miles from home). The Pep Boys on Washington Street was the closest to where I broke down. So you call the store and get redirected to some call center in God-knows-where, and the chick on the phone uses some sort of outdated tracking system to pinpoint your location. Well, in theory that's how it works, because Homegirl couldn't seem to find me, even insinuating that my location didn't actually exist. And it's not like I was vague. I said I was at mile marker 95 on I-70 East in Indianapolis and the closest exit was Mt. Comfort Road, exit 96. It doesn't get much more specific than that. The only thing she was confident about was telling me it was going to cost at least $65.99 and she was ready for me to give my credit card number over the phone. After listening to her go "So you're in Mt. Comfort? Oh, wait. Here. No. That's not it" for five minutes, I thanked her for her time and hung up. Thank the Lord that the Hoosier Helper truck showed up just a couple minutes later and changed the tire out for free. read more

I created an appointment a day in advanced to have service done to my car. When I arrive the service staff acts like I'm bothering them and refuses to honor my appointment and tell me its going to be a very long multiple hour wait. I made this appointment a day in advance, showed up 20 minutes early, and left my job early to get this done. There is no excuse for the long wait, and any good company would have at least called me to let me know they were running behind instead of basically telling me they can't do it when I arrive. This completely defeats the entire purpose of having an appointment. This company and its employees have no respect for their customers or their time and showed absolutely zero professionalism. Came here a few weeks ago and was impressed. This time not so much. Made an appt last Saturday and had car towed. After not receiving a call with a diagnosis the next day, we called and were told they didn't get to it. Same Thing Monday. Everyday we've had to call to get an update. Last night they were still diagnosing. It is now Thursday and they have told me all of these things I need but the car isn't fixed. AND as of today I have been told twice this week that the tech who can fix the car isn't in. So I'm inconvenienced for staffing issues?! I like this Pep Boys better than other chain stores on the east side. It's a big store, lots of choices, competitive prices, and some good specials especially on oil/filter combos. I got a real good deal on an Optima red top car battery earlier this year. It's worth it to join the rewards program if you do your own maintenance. I haven't had my car serviced here, though like with any chain I would trust them with simpler stuff. read more

Had my oil changed there. They messed up the appointment that I made, but they fit me in anyway. It seemed very unorganized. I liked strolling through their store. Appeared to have everything needed for your vehicle. I'm not sure why, but all car repair places seem to always have Jerry Springer on their waiting room TVs. And this one was really loud. There is one competent employee that works with customers, her name is Shannon. If you are not working with Shannon, good luck. There is a new manager/assistant manager, larger man with black framed glasses and spikes grey hair. He cannot give a clear answer when you ask him questions and quite frankly, seems lost. I spoke to him on the phone and made it evident I was frustrated. When I came in to pick up my car, he walked out of the desk and into the shop until I left the building and would t address me. Luckily Shannon was there to help and she took time to not only address my concerns but also look to find answers. She is the only reason I am giving this review an extra star. If you want clear and helpful communication, ask for Shannon. If you want someone who doesn't understand his own business or can't answer questions transparently, then you'll find that from management. The only recommendation I will make, is once again to ask for Shannon, because she seems to be the only one that cares about customer satisfaction. read more

My Ford Explorer was serviced at Pep Boys on 06/12/14 and there was a discrepancy on what I was quoted for my service and the actual bill. The customer service displayed by Jack at the service counter turned a situation that would have been me paying my bill and never returning, into a great Pep Boys experience. I'd give them negative stars if I could! I went in for a simple alignment on my vAn. I recently changed the front struts and one of the 2 sway bar links on the van so an alignment was needed! After inspecting my vehicle for nearly an hour they told me they couldn't do an alignment for me because I needed to have other repairs done. Tie rods need replaced, sway bar link needs replaced, VALVE GASKET ???!?? What dies a valve gasket have anything to do with an alignment is beyond me. The tie rods didn't need replaced or I would have done so when changing the struts. Same for the sway bar link.. there is no left to right play on either front tire.. long story short you lost my business for life due to dishonest business practices! Got the van aligned the next day at an HONEST shop and asked the mechanic if he thought any of these things needed replaced or fixed and he said "Nope, just needed to do a little adjusting!" Do your business elsewhere because they are clearly about selling parts and labor here read more

Yesterday my garaged car wouldn't start with outside temperature around zero. Got it going with USAA roadside assistance and parked in outdoor lot during the work day. Time to go home, and car is completely dead again. Before calling for a jump start, I made an appointment for Pep Boys to replace my battery. USAA roadside started it up with a lot of difficulty and I headed for Pep Boys. Great customer service---kindness, humor and understanding---and I had a new battery within an hour. I set up an appt to get 4 new tires and an oil change and I made a point of asking about how long it would take since I knew my son would be taking it in for me. I was told it would take about 1.5 hrs to complete. My son arrived with the car on time for the appt, and they pulled the car in right away but it was nearly 6 hrs later before they finished. They didn't even clean the tires so that they actually looked like new tires, but after 6 hrs I don't think my son cared, but I did for $500 I want clean tires that look new. I called to speak to the manager about the issue ( my son missed a day at work!) and waited on the phone 10 mins before I decided to hang up. To add insult to injury today (one week later) I have a flat tire! I called them before 1pm to tell then what happened, that I was on my way and that I needed to finished in time to pick up my grand children by 4pm. I was told that they were busy and they would try to get me in after 4pm! So now I will be forced to sit there with a 5,6 and 7 yr old while they try to get my tire issue resolved! Never again will I deal with Pep Boys! I don't feel that they value their customers or their customers time. The only reason I am returning this time is because it is a brand new tire with road hazard warranty! This is my first ever review but I'm so disappointed and couldn't get any satisfaction dealing with the manager and would like others to be aware of the shotty customer service given here. read more

I was apprehensive about taking my vehicle to a business other than going to the dealership. I took a chance, and was very pleased. I had called with some questions and then decided to take my vehicle in. Jacobe, whom I had spoken with on the phone, was amazing! He was very kind, answered all of my questions, and was very personable. I received an oil change, tire rotation, new battery installation, front wipers, and they even told me what needed to be repaired. I have been experiencing a strange "rattle" for a few weeks. The service guys did a great job on my vehicle and it is running great. I am making an appointment to get the needed repair they found for me because the service was outstanding and saved me almost half by not going to the dealership.
