I called here the morning of my muffler falling off scrapping the ground. I called around and Ralph's was the first business to answer the phone at 8am. I asked for an estimate for a muffler for my vehicle. I was quote $168 plus labor. I was told there was no wait and to bring it in for a free estimate. To my surprise they were able to fix my problem and get me back on the road safely in 30 mins. This has been the best car service I've gotten in years, for the exact price quoted. I highly recommend. Today is a sad day. My jeep sprung a radiator leak. I dropped it off at Ralph's this morning at 8:10am. At 11, I finally called them to find out status. I was informed it was the next vehicle to go in?????? Not sure what happened to 1st in 1st out but ok. I let them know I got off work at 2:30. At which time I was informed it would be 1 - 2 more hours. So here I sit a good distance from home stuck. Needless to say, I will never again use Ralph's. My friends and I have been long time customers (we work around the corner). Never ever have I been treated like thus nor will I ever again by Ralph's!!!!! Oh yeah and I'm being charged over $700 for a radiator and thermostat! Buyer beware!!!! read more

Bad customer service. I walked in to business one guy was at counter doing paperwork and the other 2 saw me pull up and went to garage area and the guy doing paperwork looked up at me and went back to his paperwork never acknowledged me or said be with you in a second or nothing then we he was done with paperwork he went to garage area so now I'm alone. It's easily the most reasonably priced mechanics in Indy. I've been told by them that they just try to stay open, no extra fees. Anyway,n I went in to get my rotors and brakes switch out. I had been noticing the car had been shaking a little, from somebody side sweeping me while I was parked. The gentleman told me that only my back brakes and rotors needed replaced and that my tire rod and wheel bearing had a little "play" to them. Instead of hustling me by saying my car will fall apart, he kindly gave me a quote and advised that I get it fixed soon. read more

In an attempt to steal my catalytic converter someone cut my exhaust pipe all but 3/4 of the way off downstream of the converter. Due to them cutting that it no longer sent air through my O2 sensor and eventually broke the rest of the way off making it very loud due to the Muffle no longer being used. I called in advance to ask about how much it would cost to weld the pipe back together and was estimated about $75 (which is pretty standard since I had called around other shops prior to coming here). I didn't have an appointment and walked in, told them what I needed done and mentioned the O2 sensor asking how much that would cost and they were able to get it fixed pretty quickly, I was in and out after about an hour. When the man working on my vehicle finished he told me that he welded it, but wouldn't feel good about putting a new sensor in since the reason it may have ran the code is because the pipe was cut, so he told me to just continue to drive it and come back if it flashes a code again. I was confused at first because I had not paid yet and he just said that he didn't want to charge me because someone had done me dirty and what he tries to do is fix that, and because he didn't really have to use any new material and it didn't take much time out of his day. Overall it was a very quick service and I am very appreciative of his kindness. read more

Exhaust was rattling and loud, I thought I had a bad catalytic converter. Took it to Ralph's, and the mechanic told me I just had a couple of loose bolts and a loose heat shield. He fixed both, exhaust doesn't rattle, and he DIDN'T charge me! :) The mechanic had a very honest and trustworthy vibe and I'll be taking my vehicles there from now on. The 0-2 sensor on my mom's car went out. We took it to the local Car-X and recieved a quote of almost $600, plus another $80 bucks for the diagnostic. Someone referred me my mom to Ralph's and they quoted her about $200 for the same job. We made an appointment, and the car was fixed the same day. I honestly cannot complain. If you have to get your car fix, you want it done for a reasonable price within a reasonable time frame - and that's exactly what I got! Now, it looks like a car repair place out of the 1970s, so don't expect a trendy lobby but do expect great service! read more

I'm usually pretty leery about finding new mechanics, but I needed some exhaust work done and didn't have the time to make an appointment weeks out with my normal guys. I called Ralph's and they were extremely pleasant on the phone, even giving me some ballpark prices which seemed reasonable. I also was a fan of their first-come first-serve approach. I dropped my car off Friday night and received a call Saturday morning around 9:30 telling me what was wrong and how much it would cost. After giving them the go ahead, I received another call shortly after 10 telling me my car was ready. Super speedy! The work cost me about $130 and I couldn't be happier with my experience. I still stand by my regular mechanics, but know that I definitely have someone to trust on the east side. read more

Brought my car in a year ago for brakes and an oil change. Service was fast and reasonably priced. I was thrilled. Thought I'd finally found a mechanic I could trust. Went back recently to have the master cylinder replaced. Despite the fact that they claim to be first come, first serve, and despite the fact that I was there by 8:30 each time, I had to come back four times before they could fit me in, (while they held my $200.00 deposit for the part). When he finally put my car in the garage, the only mechanic who was there worked on all the customers who had come in after me before he worked on mine, and even took some time out to do some free welding. My brakes are still soft, and the pedal still sinks another inch after I've already stopped, while sitting at a light. I'm going to try another location before I give up on Ralph's for good, just because the first visit (different staff, btw) was so stellar. But I have to say, my hopes aren't high. read more
