The technician refused to do my LIFETIME alignment job because an error in a shock/strut assembly job. It took them longer to explain this to me then just fixing the problem and me offering to even pay for a service for it to be taken care of. But no, I brought a broken to an auto shop and the technician is like "hold on wait a minute" like bro you're a mechanic. Had a 10am appointment for an oil change. Was told it will be ready by 11:30am. At 12pm, my car was still at the same spot where I parked so I asked, Fernando, how much longer it will be. He told me he didn't know and started laughing out loud with other employees. Waited another 50 minutes and still nothing.... Now it was around 1pm and I had to leave. I went to the counter and requested to cancel. They told me they had other cars that took longer than expected. They didn't even apologize or offer any accommodations or options. I've had both of my cars serviced at this location with no issues. Last week I took my pathfinder for service to the air system. Air was coming out of the vents but it made noise and the dash would shake. They took the car and Jorge called me a few hours later to let me know a rodent had built a nest in the blower. He said it was out and needed to be replaced. He quoted me $660+ to remove not only the blower but the entire blower motor assembly. I decided not to move forward with the work and only paid for the inspection and I'm so glad I did!! Today I took the dashboard out myself, removed the blower and found the debris. It took about 30 seconds to take all the cotton and leaves out and now my AC is as good as new without needing to replace a single thing. I'm not sure if the technician just read the notes and made an assumption or if this was an attempt to charge me for something that didn't need replacing in the first place. This review is in regards to Peb Boys repair service on Brookurst st in Huntington Beach. Worst ever service. Manager has a serious attitude. I went for a slight vibration In the front end. Issue in my car. First I was told it's free to check then that changed to $35 which I approved And that it will take less than an hour. 2 hrs later while Im watching mechanic not touching my car for almost 30-40 minutes doing something else while he had my car' engine running for no reason, all wheels are off the car. I all asked the manager why did the tech leave my car running for all that time while he was doing something else. He goes then comes back and says it's not running. Im like yea it was I was out there watching the whole thing. He says no it wasn't. so now im A liar? Manager couldn't even read The final diagnosis Which came from his own tech. Then I'm told the car needs everything from brakes to tires to struts to fluids and the list goes on. When I questioned where the vibration was coming from, I was told by the coky manager that they can't tell What's wrong And It could be anything. I asked but thats what I came here for and paid you to do to diagnose what the problem is. seriously? There was nothing wrong with tires or front struts or brakes By thier own admission. they just thought since they couldn't find the problem they will just have to replace all of that and hope that it goes away. So basically guessing while I pay for it all. I asked since they had all wheels off the car can you just swap front to back. He responded we charge for that "buddy" and just bcz wheels are off the car doesn't mean I'm goin to do it for you for free. Whatttttt???Then he asks me oh your not having us do the work? I said I only came here for diagnostic. He was not happy. I told him I need to pay my bill and that I wasn't coming back. Sadly it wasn't as the puncture was on the sidewall but they recommended a great tire replacement. They worked quickly and efficiently and kept me apprised of where they were in the process as I waited. Stopped by in the morning because it's not busy. There were no customers. I asked for a code check for check engine light. The last ten times I did this, the service guy either handed me the tool or walked out to my car to check it. The last time I did this I ended needing $100 in parts and a special tool. This time I got a run around, the service guy had me pull around to the service bay. The mechanic rudely asked what I wanted. After waiting, I just left and went to OReilly. They did exactly what I expected and I walked out with the parts I needed. The workers at Pep Boys seemed angry and did not care. pepboys in lake forest is worst place ever to get tire service! had an appointment at 12:30pm on dec 21st, went there and waited 3hrs and 30mins, only for them to tell me that they needed a master key to change my tires, robert their "manager" wasn't helpful at all. all the places i've been to have never asked me for it and changed my tires without any problem. took my car to discount tires and they had my tires and car ready after an 1hr and 30mins.. never go to pepboys! read more

Careful!!!! I brought my truck for an specific noise I could heard and they told me was something else and charged me for an alignment. When I pick up my truck they told me it was fix and took it home to find out in the midway that they did not fix it! Immediately I brought the truck and they check it again. As they checked they told me that was nothing they could do because it had to do with the transfer case and they were unable to do the work themselves. They recommend someone that could do the job. They also offered a refund because they couldn't fix the problem I brought the truck for. As they sent me to the manager Jorge he denied the refund and told me the work was done, but it wasn't... I explain that I just did a alignment and when they told they fix the truck problem and requested an alignment was for something that it supposed to be fix and they admitted that they could not fix it! The manager told me to bring an invoice where it shows I just did an alignment so I did... this guy Jorge no only was playing me, he was rude and because I am a woman tried to bully me. Gave me hard time even though I brought my receipt , the receipt he requested to be able to obtain a refund for a work they could not perform. I tape he conversation in case this needed to go to court, but be careful. This guy Jorge will tell your car has something that is not just to take money from you. This guy Jorge should be fired by treating customers they way he did to me. No only he mistreated his customers, his bad customer service is a shame to this shop, his a bully and a lawsuit waiting to happen. I had a appointment at pep boys 5/22/20 to get my air filter replaced only to show up and be told they didn't have it in stock and would be ordering it and would get a call on 5/25 or 5/26, well we never received a call . But I did get a text telling me it was canceled on Tuesday 5/26, we called the store asking what was going and the manager got really rude and started accusing us of yelling at her. Worst service I ever experienced. I went there to replace 4 tires. And: 1. They can't find the tool to unlock my wheels. Called me and I told them check beneath the trunk floor, but they just don't do it and insisted me to come over again. 2. My car has white interior and it was very clean. They have no protection at all and I can see my seats get dirty and darker. 3. Somebody there probably took a nap on my passenger seat since the seat is tilted backwards. Hope you rest well. 4. My 4 new tires come with 4 different tire pressure readings from 37 to 42 psi. I have to readjust all of them to factory setting. 5. My wheels and tires are super dirty as well. read more

Made an appointment online to have oil change, tire balancing and rotation. Once I got there, sat and waited for 2 and 1/2 hours for the service. No one could explain to me why it took that long . Due to the extensive wait, they gave me some discounts on the products I purchased. Once I paid, I was told someone would bring the car out in the front -- no one did. I decided that I would never return to this place for the service again. I felt something were not quite right with my car right after the oil change -- sound and feel of it. Then, noticed the oil spots on my driveway. My car is new and the oil leak only started after the oil change. Opened the hood and saw that the cap was not placed back -- oil was all over my new engine and the back of my hood. Noticed some parts were loose as well. Just so unbelievable. Update: After three days and two nights, my brakes have been replaced, again, and are no longer knocking. Two more stars for fixing their mess up. Would have been more if I felt as though I didn't have to convince them to do it. Got my front and back brakes changed. Noticed a knock when I brake at low speed, smelled burning coming from the brakes, took it back, they were too busy and told me to come back tomorrow. Not too pleased right now. I don't write reviews at all, however if I could give this specific pep boys less than a one star I would. Granted my cars been sitting there for 3 days, no one has contacted me about it at all, in fact I had to reach out to figure out what is going on with it. There can be good pep boys out there however stay away from this one. My brake vacuum pump is out that they replaced, and are now trying to say that everything else is wrong with my car when maintenance on my car is up to date. Go somewhere else. Edit : also beware of their tow service. I had to get towed and had to wait 3 almost 4 hours to get towed, when the tow truck did come it was the dead of night. Costco is so unreliable when it comes to tire repair. I need my car for work and I am always on the go. When my tire pressure gauge went off I found out I had a screw. Went to Costco only to tell me my car would take all day and be done when they closed This is the second time this place saved me. Dominic helped me and was friendly. It took less than an hour. Unfortunately I had to work with Jorge here at this location. Jorge right off the bat was being unfriendly and rude. Just bought a vehicle from Carvana and this is one of their only authorized locations in this area (only thing else is other people boys). Jorge said it was going to take him 3-7 days to contact SilverRock and get a diagnostic started with the claims team. I called SilverRock and spoke with one of the reps and they said all he needed to do was call and start a claim, no need for any 3-7 day wait time. Jorge is just lazy and incompetent with a pompous attitude that gives mechanics the bad name. Avoid this PepBoys at all cost!!!! read more

Have you ever been been to a place and remembered that you didn't like it but it was too late? You already begin getting service so you have to follow through? Well, over 8 years ago, I was getting my Honda civic serviced here regularly. I have been to other locations of the same company and obviously have been to more just to get the required maintenance which gives me a general idea of how long it takes to do the service. Not to mention that I've done it on my own so I know that the service can actually be competed fairly quick. So, the last time I brought my vehicle in 8 years ago, I had the strange feeling that something was wrong and then, what do you know... a week later, my car was stolen. Not saying they are related but it's almost like this place is cursed because bad things happen after taking my car here. Although, it was only one occurrence so, it would be hard to say that having one bad feeling and then something bad happening is a direct result of that bad feeling but I wonder... Well, like I said, I was reminded immediately after my car took 2 hours for one oil change. Yeah, I saw it sitting there waiting for awhile in the waiting lot but even after getting it up on the lift, they seemed to take a long time. I got that eerie feeling again. I asked if everything was ok and the service writer told me something is wrong with a tire. I kind of knew they did but I thought I was already pretty clear that I only wanted an oil change. He insisted on telling me though. Until I reminded him again that I didn't want any extra work. Suddenly, he remembered me telling him and then tells me to wait longer. (Keep in mind that I was already here waiting for awhile just for it to go up on the lift.) So, I waited some more. He let other costumers distract him and dilly dallied for a few more minutes. I peaked through the viewing window and saw the messing with the tires. I figured he was just putting the tires back on because they are to rotate as a courtesy. Now, Joshua comes back to tell me there is a chip in my tires. I didn't know what he meant. He said there was a piece missing from the tread but when he said chip, I'm thinking microchip. Like I'm being tracked. Then he tells me that its a piece missing from the tread. I thought that was strange. I have no idea how that would happen but he said it would effect the driving so much. Asked me to wait some more. I see the car parked and I'm thinking, 'ok great. Lemme pay and get outta here. Been here way too long already.' Nope. Another 15 or so minutes. Joshua tells me they are finishing up a work order. Huh? It's done. I can see it sitting in the parking. I just get a blank stare like I'm pushing them too hard... Which was strange because I had been sitting very patiently for almost 2 hours, not pushing at all. Bad feeling again. Finally, it's done after another 10 minutes. He did give me a really good rate but that just tells me something is wrong. What can it be? The only thing I've noticed is possibly some oil leaking but that can be a lot of things. I'm HOPING they didn't damage the oil pan because I just had that fixed and there is no way it should be leaking. For 3k dollars to fix it, it better be lasting very very long so I'm really hoping that isn't what they broke. The tires were not rotated even though it says in the description they rotated. I did return to ask why and the service writer pointed out that there was uneven wear on my tires. Umm...yeah, that's why I need rotated. Really cheap excuse so when he tells me, "well, we can put it up to rotate them now?"...I'm thinking to myself I'm going to be waiting another 2 hours to do something that should've already been done. And if they were worn wrong, why didn't they tell me? That cursed feeling again. read more

Customer service was good but i realized the last two oil change, both of my cars were low on the engine oil in 2 months after oil changed. I took my car to a mechanic to see if there's any leak or my engine burn the oil. They said my cars is fine. My cars oil was really low left about 1/2 quart of muddy oil. read more

I cannot say enough good things about the service I received at this location. After taking my vehicle into the dealership to get a recalled part fixed, not only with the dealership not fix the part because the light was not going off at the time of bringing the vehicle in, they also identified about $1600 worth of issues. I took my car to Pep Boys and had the same work done for a fraction of the cost. My technician James, went above and beyond to get my car up and running. Sergio And all the other staff I worked with, were great at communicating with me every step of the way. We will definitely be Bringing both vehicles back in the future. read more

Apparently i only change my brakes every 3 years because i just ordered pads and rotors again, but this time Larry was super helpful when i called and tried to bump up my online pick up time from tomorrow to today. He also pulled some magic to work around an inventory deficiency and get product to the store this afternoon instead of tomorrow. I hope i don't have this car in another 3 years when my brakes go out again. it's already better just with the online ordering, sourcing and discounts. Customer service is terrible. I purchased a set of windshield wiper blades and headlight bulbs. They charge $175 to install the bulbs which is ridiculous. When I asked for some help on how to install them myself the service tech said it's a pain in the ass and laughed as he walked away. Only reason for 2 stars is that they did install the wiper blades but are going to return them since they are terrible. The service is non-existent. If I didn't need my car checked out I'd have walked out already. If they treat people like this I'd hate to see what they'd do to your car or bill. This is the second time the service department lied to me. I got an oil change last Thursday and requested for my tires to be rotated. When I went to pick up my car, they claimed to have rotated my tires, but as it turns out, they never did (I marked a tire and it was clear that they didn't rotate them). When I confronted them, they changed their story and said that my tires didn't need rotating. It makes me wonder if they even gave me an oil change. read more

So, I made an appointment for this morning, at 9am to bring my car in for an oil change. The instructions online tell you to pull your car into the slot closest to the service area. Which would be fine, had they not all been chained off with no access. There were cars in all of them already. I waited outside until the store opened, and I went in. I was helped at 9:10 and when I asked if my car would be done by 10am, which... for a 9am oil change appointment should be no problem... the guy chimed in and told me he was short staffed today, and two people walked in ahead of me. KEY WORDS: WALKED IN. So, why did I bother making an appointment, exactly? Since I received an attitude, and basically wasnt going to have my car done in an hour, I decided to leave. In the middle of a downpour last night, I discovered my right side wiper was missing. Weird since I just replaced them in October. Before my 29 mike drive I stopped and right in front of me was Pepboys. Though I did not get his name the manager dropped everything he was doing. Made sure he picked the same brand and not only was SO nice, he installed it for me and in minutes I was off on my long commute. I picked up a huge bolt in my tire and took it into Pep Boys this morning. Unfortunately I got confirmation that they could not fix the tire because of the location of the bolt too near the sidewall. They did put my spare on for me at a super reasonable price and even cleaned out my car! The Pep Boys team is absolutely terrific. Friendly and efficient.
