So I learned that having an appointment really does not mean much at this Pep Boys. I checked in for my appointment and was told they were short staffed and there were 4 people ahead of me and would take about 2 hours to install my tires. As I sat in the waiting area the kept getting walk ins and more appointments that were going to be delayed. The guy working argued with another customer because of the delay and the customer was upset because he was asked to come back the following day even though he had an appointment. It got a little awkward but my car was finally done. On my way home I get a check tire pressure alert. So they installed new tires and don't check the pressure! I noticed one of the tire rims was almost falling off this morning. It seems they don't double check their work. I would not come back here but I may have to if I keep getting tire pressure notifications. read more

This may be the worst auto repair shop in the area. I was almost charged triple of what I paid at AAMCO on south street. For what came out to $1,050 came out to over 3.5k. Now I know labor costs but does it really cost 2k? For less that a day job? Yeah no I highly recommend ANY other place. After leaving I called around and every single shop in the area was cheaper. I have been a customer at the store for years now and unfortunately I was extremely disappointed on Sunday. I like to support my local business but I don't think I will be coming back to this business again. I dropped off my vehicle for a simple oil change at 9 AM and was called back at 11 o'clock and told the mechanic would not be in to do my oil change and to pick up my vehicle. I work in Orange County during the week, and I am unable to get my car serviced during the week. This was a waste of time on my Sunday. I needed a new battery for our Ford hybrid at 6pm on a Saturday night. I called around and they were the only ones that would do it because it is a special battery. They close at 7pm, so they said come now and we can do it. I didn't want to turn the car off because it wouldn't start again without a jump. Bad. Poor Customer Service. Poor Interpersonal Skills. I made an appointment for a tire rotation. I showed up on time. Three hours later I asked about the status of my vehicle. "Manager" Julian R. lectured me on waiting and the years he has worked there. I asked about paying for the service in an effort to expeditate things and he refused. He explained, "it's not that we are going to find extra things to charge you for but what if we find something we have to charge you for and once I close the ticket it's hard to reopen the ticket." I still thanked Julian R. when I paid and he responded with "sure." No apology, no thank you for your business, nothing to acknowledge the horrible service and treatment. I also got a discount for fall so while I waited 3 hours they offered a comfortable waiting area, free coffee, a restroom, and TV. WOMEN BE WARY GOING ALONE!! I went in for to service and replace new tires on both the front tires. The mechanic broke two studs on my drivers side. When the customer rep told me about me she failed to mention that the studs I was being given were a 1/4 inch longer than the original. They serviced my car and I didn't notice until I got home what the result was. Not only was I intentionally misinformed they failed to put the air cap on my new tires. Karla the customer rep I dealt with was negligent, they never called me back to repair their mistake or to inform that the correct part had come in. I had to call multiple times and in the end they never fixed their mistake and refused to take ownership of their wrong doing. I had to go to another pep boys on PCH where they apologized for the service and corrected the mistake in 10 mins. I spent two days dealing with this Pep Boys for them to offer a 10% discount if I bring in my own parts next time. I don't know if they thought I was stupid or what but they were very happy to take advantage of my situation and then defend their wrongdoing. Been going here for years as it is close to my house. The managers have always been very friendly. I gave a pass years prior when I found that my air filter was knocked off during an oil change, but not put back on. Only found out after it started running funny the next day. Made an appointment for a synthetic oil change for 9am the previous day. Dropped off my truck at 8:30am the day of the appointment. At 10:30am I had yet to get a call but surely it had to be finished. When I got there my truck was still parked in the same place. When I stated that my appointment was at 9am it was met with excuses and that there was still people ahead of me. How can there be anyone ahead of me at 10:30am, when my appointment was at 9am and I dropped off at 8:30am. No apology, no "we will get it started right away"... I got new tires serviced there about a week ago. My confidence in them doing the job properly and acknowledging my concerns went right out the window once I picked up my vehicle. First off, I had concerns about me TPMS sensors and alignment, so I asked if they could check it out before they swapped the tires so it wouldn't be an issue afterwards. We'll nothing changed, all I was told was to drive it around. I tried asking if they just tried to reset it or did they use a relearn tool? No clear answer was given. Went to go get my headlight swapped out with a new bulb I already had. Online it said $20 for the service fee. When I got there, they said it would cost $380 just to change the bulb because they had to take off the tire. 1. There is absolutely no amount of labor for taking off a tire and putting in a new headlight that would cost $380 2. You don't even have to take the tire off to switch out the bulb; you can do it with just turning the wheel to the side Luckily I was able to call around and found someone to do replace it, even take the tires off, for only $40. I decided to wait with my vehicle and after 2 hours I decided to go outside to see what they were still working on and the guy is just sitting in my car on his phone. I didn't say anything to see if maybe there was something he was looking at inside the car, nope, just on the phone. I'm guessing he spots me or heard me talking on the phone about how I've been waiting forever so he jumps out of the car and immediately afterwards someone comes to tell me that they're finished. The quality of the work and service has down in the last couple months. Been coming for years, don't know what changed but my last service was a really bad experience. Will not be returning. My advice is to look at the recent reviews I am sure I am not alone. As an example me and my sister took similar cars for the same service but she was quoted 60 dollars more. As for me , they didn't address the issue and just masked the symptoms. Had to take to another place to get properly repaired. I had my wife take the car for a squealing belt. They didn't replace the belt but charged her for one and just sprayed some lubricant on it to stop the squealing for a bit. Two months later, everything is as bad as when she took it there. There reasoning is keep bringing it back in until we get it right but who has that kind of time. Get it right the 1st or 2nd time. Don't ask me to keep coming by for your lack of workmanship. read more

I call Pep Boys up and the lady answering phone says they don't check brake fluid when repairing brakes. My wife took her truck in on 11/26, purchased a set of tires from "George" and told him she'd have to come in tomorrow (11/27) to get them installed, but wanted the sale price (ending today) so buying them today 11/26. He said no problem, and said "bring it in at 8am on 11/27, and it'll be about an hour, I'll have your truck first on the rack" and made her an 8am appointment. I take the truck in and get there at 7:45am on 11/27, wait for them to open at 8am and am 2nd in line behind a woman that also has an 8am appointment. When it's my turn I tell Timothy the appointment time, give him the receipt, tell him the story and he says ok sign here, it'll be about an hour and a half, maybe sooner. I think, George said an "hour" but maybe they are short staffed or added other 8am appointments too like the lady in front and behind me. No worries I'll go to donut shop across the way, great customer service there btw. I get no phone call that the truck will be ready or otherwise but I get there an hour and 25 minutes later and no one is at the front desk so I walk to the shop and Timothy and a worker are just talking and Timothy looks at me and asks "do you need something?" I said "you said my truck (up on the racks, no new tires at all on it) would be ready in about an hour and half or less," he then goes "oh right, we had problems with the 2 other cars before you, so it'll be another 30 mins." At this point it's 9:25am and I'm thinking good thing I didn't have to be anywhere today, oh wait I did. I proceeded to wait in the crappy waiting room for about 20 mins and hear a lady say, I wonder why they haven't taken my car back it's been about an hour since I talked to them, I told I've been waiting almost 2 hours for mine to get tires put on and she says "oh, they must be slow today." I go back to Timothy at 945am and say, is my truck anywhere close to being ready to which he says "it'll be about 30 mins"...I started fuming, and said, you said that 20 mins ago, and he said "I didn't say that you said 30 mins"...I start to go off and he says sir yelling at me isn't going to solve anything, I think sure he has a point, so then I ask him what will make it go by faster and he says "nothing." I said who is going to compensate me for my lost time and what will it be, and his quick response was "nothing." He then said "it hasn't been 30 mins anyways." I said no, but it's close and I'm asking if it's going to go past 30 mins as the initial time was 1hour30mins, and it's been almost 2 hours. He then said, "well...what do you want me to do?" If I could give this pep boys and Timothy a nothing review I would, but 1 Star is the lowest I can go. I got the truck after 10am and lost my morning to "nothing." BEWARE!!! Disappointed with customer service. Came in for a tire repair, I was greeted by assistant manager named Monday. I explained to him that I had a small nail in my tire and needed help. He advise that it would be $19.99 for them to patch it or I would have to buy a new tire if it wasn't repairable, I said ok, can you take a look. He came out to my vehicle and from about 5 feet away without even bending down to inspect the tire he said you need a new tire. What kind of training do they get that they can make these kind of recommendations. I thank him for his recommendation, drove over to another tire shop about 2 miles down. They took my tire off and did an inspection. I asked them if I should by a new tire, just to make sure what Monday from pep boys was right. They said it wasn't necessary because the hole was small and in the middle of the tire. They explained that the only time that they recommend to replaced it, is if the hole is on the sidewall.
