I do not recommend this place anymore. What happened to the great service they used to provide. Now, I went yesterday for an estimate and to get my warranty to pay for a service. Well, they said it was going to $1900 then went up to $2600 without insurance. Which is a scam. Then I call Casa Ford and they will do everything for under $1000. I got an alignment 2 weeks ago as my vehicle was steering to the right. Waited 3 hours for the service to be completed. $183 out of pocket. I made an appointment and took it to them again as it continued to steer to the right as soon as I let go of the steering. Waited 3 & 1/3. Customers who arrived later than I left sooner than I did. I followed at around 3 hours and I was told there was another cat on the lift. I waited outside, saw the car that was on the lift leave. I got back inside and I was told my car was ready. Friendly and cooperative, but often inattentive and about as mechanically inclined as a box of nails. I was not treated badly... I just wasn't treated at all. The one silver lining to this fiasco was that Rose the receptionist, although exasperated and stretched thin by her situation and superiors, maintained a true professional's poise even in such stressful conditions, and had she been given proper resources and authority from her company, they might have made about 2000 dollars repairing my car as I was ready to spend that much but I did not feel that I could trust PepBoys to communicate well enough to make it worth the hassle and money spent. I will now just buy what I need from Autozone and do the work myself, as the reasoning behind letting a shop like PepBoys do this work was to save time and hassle for the cost of capital, but that was not viable it turned out. Stay away from these people if you're from out of state, stay FAR away if you're from out of state AND a female. I was moving from AZ to OH and took all of my stuff with me in my car. When we got to Las Cruces, my car overheated and my fans were not working. Got a tow to Pep Boys and they looked at it the afternoon of the next day. I was told my head gasket was blown among a radiator fan needing to be replaced. Since my car is a rare make and model, they needed to take universal parts and remachine them down to fit my car. Before the remachining, I was quoted $2,000. With the remachining included, I could be paying upwards of $3,000. None of that sat right with us, especially when my concerns about my radiator were ignored. The thing was rattling like hell and they said nothing about it! My fiance and I loaded up my car onto a UHaul trailer and drove the rest of the way to OH in the UHaul. Once in OH, we took it to a local mechanic my fiance's family has a good relationship with. They looked at my car all day, testing and retesting the head gasket, driving my car to see if it would overheat... and what do you know? My head gasket was fine. What wasn't fine was the radiator. I was quoted $563 to fix my car and I'd be getting it back within the next few days. These mechanics were so confused about why we told them the head gasket was blown! I try not to think of my sex being an issue, but my God was it proven here. Pep Boys sees my out-of-state license plate and see that I'm a female, and they throw a $3,000 quote at me for the wrong repairs. I'll never be going to any Pep Boys again. How dare you people try to take advantage of anyone vulnerable! Moral of the story is ALWAYS get a second opinion. read more

If I could not pick a star at all I would. I was moving from Ohio to New Mexico and we broke down in Oklahoma city we had to get a tow. We delivered to pep boys and was assured that they would take care of the problem. My air-conditioning unit needed a compressor for my car to run at all. I was aware of this before. They had it a day and we were back on the road. Two weeks later at out destination the air-conditioning was not working at all so I took my warranty to the local store to see if they could honor what I had already paid for. Made a appointment had to pay again and this last week I broke down again with issues stemming from the work these other shops didn't fix properly. I made an appointment for oil change/tire change/checking the alignment. I showed up early and the lady at the front desk told me it would take 45 minutes. An hour and 15 minutes later I go back to the front to check how much longer. She tells me it will be another 45 minutes. I wait another 45 minutes and go back to ask about the car. The lady at the front desk has lost a customer's keys and I have to wait for her to hunt those down before she can help me. She says it is finally ready, but when I ask if they did the alignment check, which I requested when I booked the appointment and which should be done after replacing four tires, she replied no. One of the guys offered to do it then and said it would be another 30 minutes and I said I would wait. He came right back and said just kidding, there is another car getting aligned right now so it would be at least an hour. I voiced my frustration that she told me 45 minutes and it was really 2.5 hrs and they did not even do everything I asked for. Not one employee apologized for the inconvenience or offered to give a discount for their poor service. They said I could book an appointment for tomorrow to get the alignment checked but there is no way I will ever go back here. Absolutely do not recommend. read more

If I could do 0 stars I would! I went and had by front breaks done and rotors resurfaced. The next day my car was still making that same grinding noise. I went back and they resurfaced them again and still to this day they are squeaking I had them done about a month ago. Also to top it off they "replaced" my driving belt and now my ac rattles every time it's turned on mind you it never did that before. For the past couple of years, we've used Pep Boys in Las Cruces NM for our auto service; simply due to our son worked there- but the other employees treated us great as well!! Our son left but we thought we would continue going to Pep Boys.. until today.. for the past 2 weekends; our only time off; we've been trying to get the oil in my husbands truck changed.. a tad over due... 2 times even though the bay is empty where they changed our oil before; it would be an hour to almost 2 hours before they could get to it.. Again today.. hmm.. if you need more help hire more help!! We left again today- drove to Jiffy Lube 25 minutes before they closed.. guess what.. they were happy we chose them; instantly we had 3 guys working on our truck.. before closing time they were done.. My Sister traveling through Las Cruces, NM, had car problems, she had experienced the problem earlier and wasn't able to get the problem worked on. She was able to get an engine analysis check on her car though, and the report said that the engine needed spark plugs and the coil worked on, but they were unable to work on her car being late in the afternoon. She nursed the car down the road and put herself up in a hotel in Las Cruces for the night. The next morning went to Pep Boys with the engine report she had done the previous day. Pep boys disregarded the engine analysis report she presented and proceeded to run their own engine analysis check. That said, they did exactly what was reported on the engine analysis she gave them, charging her for the engine analysis report they did, $125. Plus $575 to replace spark plugs and coil. Just like the first report advised them to do. This is a classic example, where a woman traveling by herself and has problems and is taken advantage of. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SHOP. At the time, the Yelp review was slightly better for Pep Boys, so I called them. First I reached an automated system and then I was transferred three times only to be put on hold. All this, only to find out if I could bring in my car for new brakes. Fed up, I hung up and immediately called Brake Masters. A real person answered the phone and told me to come in. I took my car in for a routine oil change and tire rotation, at the Pep Boys here in Las Curces, New Mexico. As soon as I drove away, the ABS light, the traction control light, and power steering warning light all came on, so I immediately took it back to the shop and told them about it, the technician that had worked on it knew exactly what was wrong with it, the intergrated magnetic ring for ABS sensor was missing, And to fix it, I would need a new wheel hub and hub bearing. The vehicle only has 50,000 miles on it and everything was working fine when I brought it in for service. So a $80. Oil change and tire rotation ended up costing me $600. I feel like I had been scammed, and I will never have Pep Boys work on any of mine or my family's vehicle again, I will tell all my friends about our experience with Pep Boys here in Las Curces also. read more

I asked the guy in the back if I could get help putting it in, and instead of charging me, he just walked out and showed me how to do it in under five minutes. He shook my hand and that was that. They helped us find a cheap tow, then diagnosed it, said they had the part & gave us a quote, before they closed. Said "We guess we'll get the car on Friday, since you're closed for the 4th".
