Got new tires installed but bought my tires from giga-tires (wholesaler) they overnighted them next day delivery. And pep boys installed and aligned only. Was best price out there w install, tax, shipping, recycle fee all in. Only paid pep boys for install/alignment w a coupon. I had an appointment as well. Took 2hrs. I need to personally mention Robert (the supervisor) and Luis (technician) both have returned back to this location and thank goodness for that. Because of these two stellar human beings who deliver excellent customer service, They have single handedly saved this store! Because of them I'm giving a 5-star review!! I came into this store 10644 W Pico Blvd Unit 100, Los Angeles, CA 90064 to ask about a coupon that Pep Boys themselves are currently publishing. The employee told me they would not accept it because "it doesn't apply to California." When I questioned this, he became extremely rude, raised his voice, cursed at me, and told me, "If you don't want the service, take the f*ing car and go away from here." I walked out and called the Culver City Pep Boys, and they confirmed they would accept the coupon with no issue. Clearly, this store has serious problems with communication, professionalism, and basic respect for customers. This was an unacceptable experience -- both in terms of customer service and human decency. I will not be returning to this location. read more

I got tires here. I'm giving a 2 star because of price, and it was significantly less than Midas ($300 less). In fact, the tires cost the same as Amazon and included installation. That said, I made a purchase and reserved an appointment online. When I got there, they said they didn't have the tires I bought, but that they could sell me different tires (they're obviously told to/incentivized for Cooper brand tires, as what was pushed). I was firm in that I'd just leave, but they then said they could get the tires from somewhere else. They did and it would be 2-3 hours. 4 hours later they called that it was ready. It was near closing time and they gave me the key. I went to my car and the inside was a disaster. Most like someone went through it looking to steal something, but nothing was stolen. They had gone looking for the tire lock and emptied everything in the car, but hadn't put anything back. The biggest issue was the brand new tires were filthy. To the point I thought maybe I'd been swindled and they sourced used tires. I looked and they were recently manufactured, so that wasn't an issue. The issue was that they must have spilled the goo they use to put the tires on all over the outside and bottom of the tires. Taking to the car wash did nothing. I had to go buy goo gone to make them reasonably clean. The tires were also inflated all over the place. Some over inflated and some severely under inflated. Again, maybe go for the prices to just get something done, but ultimately the level of care is nearly zero. read more

Bought a battery in Dec 2025. It's dead 4 months later. I took it in and they FED me some bull about the connectors being loose killing the battery, refused to replace the product and said there was no manufacturer warranty on the battery. Not worth your money. They were acting as though they were going to charge me to diagnose the dead battery they sold me and then when I commented on that, they gave me the above crap. 12pm on 10/14/25. Pulled up, no one acknowledged me. 5 guys were all huddled around, leaning and talking, whatever no big deal. Then I go inside and wait at the register. About 10 minutes go by and someone comes out and sets some paperwork down, no "hello", no "i'll be right with you" just set down some paperwork and returns to the garage area. I hear laughing and talking, I wait about another 10 minutes. Walk back around to the garage, the employees are still all hanging out and talking, I get in my truck and just leave. I wasn't too happy. I had did a walk in because I had spoke with an employer that told me it would be better for me to walk in because they wouldn't have an appointment until 430 so I walked in earlier. I was told to come back Saturday because there was no technician that could help me with my coupon in regards to my AC. I have a Pep Boys Credit Card very hard to find any Pep Boys store that carries oil and all the other accessories that they used to carry I'm not sure if this Credit Card is for me. It's such a low balance if I were to get things fixed, what I have will not cover it all I can do is buy gas and that's high and if I buy gas four times that's the limit on my credit card. read more

I went to the Pep Boys in Santa Monica to get my car battery replaced. They gave me two options: $175 for the basic battery, or $280 for a higher-end one. I chose the $280 battery, which came to $365 with installation. However, they couldn't install it because their device for Mercedes wasn't working. They told me to go to the Pep Boys on Pico and Overland. When I got there, Anthony quoted me $518 for the same service! When I asked why the price was so much higher, he said it was because they didn't have the device. But that didn't make sense, since the price I was quoted in Santa Monica was for installation with the device. I feel like they were trying to take advantage of me. Terrible experience... I came in to get a routine brake inspection, the guy at the front desk took my key and told me he would call me back in an hour to tell me if anything was needed. Exactly an hour later he calls me back telling me that me whole brake system needs to be replaced. I was surprised because I did it not too long ago and asked what exactly needed to be replaced. He said "oh it's complicated but it's necessary, can we start now?" I asked for the price and the length it would take and based on his response, I started to have doubts on his honesty. I told him I did not want to get any work done on my car today and that I would come to pick it up in an hour. The guy seemed upset and told me I shouldn't drive a car like that and tried to push me into getting the work done. I refused and talk to my husband about it. He seemed surprised as well and came with me to the shop to pick up my car. When I arrived at the front desk with my husband, the guy was extremely cold, did not even look at me and handed the key to my husband. We asked for an inspection report and the quote for the repair they deemed "necessary". The front desk guy said they didn't have an inspection report and simply gave me the quote, asking me to sign so they could start the work. I repeated that I would not get anything done on my car today and left. When I got back to my car, I realized that they did not perform any inspection and the car did not even move from the parking spot I parked in initially (I always leave something in a specific position to see if the body shops actually inspects my car and this time it did not move). I then went to another body shop and stayed to make sure they will inspect my car and they explained that only the front break pads would need to be replaced (1/8 of what Pep Boys wanted me to do) and when they looked at the quote I got, they were shocked on how inflated it was. I don't know if they adapt their quote and their inspections depending on which client comes in but this is simply ridiculous and such a scam. read more

I went in to get my tires replaced, and was provided a quote. During service the next day, the team called me to let me know the quote was not accurate, and the fee would now be over $200 more. They already had my car in their possession for the evening. I was also told that I could keep one of the tires being replaced (which had been updated prior and in better condition). Upon pickup, the crew had left so I was unable to retrieve the tire and told to call the next day. When I called the next morning, I was told the tire would not be available for pickup as that would have needed to be done immediately after service. Overall, I was misguided and ended up being charged more than expected, and lost an extra spare tire. I won't be coming back here and recommend going elsewhere for your services. Scammers! I booked a FULL break repair on CarAdvise from this location because they had a special for $433. Everyone else was $630. I booked my appointment for Saturday at 3pm. I got there earlier at 2:15. They took my car and because I used CarAdvise, the app notified me of everything. They don't have a wait room or restroom so I went to the McDonald's across the street, because the guy said it would be a couple of hours. They sent me a request to start working about 20 minutes after I got there. Well, they didn't finish until 6:45 (4:30 later). Their reason for the delay was that the parts they ordered were wrong. No apologies. Nothing. To add insult to injury, they charged me the full $433 and only did my back brakes. I contacted CarAdvise and they said it was completely normal. Well, I will never ever use CarAdvise or this shop. Scammers and liars. read more

So glad i left and went somewhere else where i got to actually go and see for myself that my catalytic converter nor exhaust were cracked, i just needed a few tightened bolts and things around the muffler. screw you and your sexist fraud management. and!! drained my battery in the process just to try to up-charge on that and convince me i needed a new one too because it was dead. I bought some tires online and had them shipped to this Pico location where I was able to make an appointment at 10am to have them installed while I waited in an hour. I got there and was informed by Anthony that they dont take appointments and it would be 2-3 hours wait which nobody ever does. He kept insisting that appointments dont help because they are a busy shop however he was very rude to me and NEVER made eye contact or was at all freindly. I ended up waiting for it and spoke to the techs who were mostly very nice and freindly but each time I had to talk to Anthony it was painful as he tried to do everything he could to not anwer my question and make me feel like I was an ass for bringing my car to a busy shop. I went in to get the front lights replaced. I was glad when the nicer guy was going to assist me. However he found the bulbs I needed, but had to order them. That's fine. I asked "when should I return". He said "no you have to leave your car"' my husband is on a walker and can't just hang out there for hours. He quoted a price for 15.99 bulbs but with labor over $100.00. Okay. Well I need headlights. But then he ran out and looked under hood and when he came back said it would be higher price, because he had to take car apart. I said If can't make an appointment and, because the price kept changing which made me feel uncomfortable. I will go somewhere else. He said everyone does it this way. Oh really! Waisted my time. Got NOTHING done, and to top it off, Rude & Disrespectful. No "I'm sorry for the inconvenience and our lack of communication." just a "hey it's not my fault" attitude. As we sometimes say in L.A. "yeah, no". Don't do it. Just don't do it. Things seemed to be going really well in the beginning. Granted, I have a 2001 car and have had been lucky to not really have had to do major service on it for most of those years due to keeping it maintained. Replace brakes, tires, oil changes etc. This has changed this year. There were things done that were a major necessity (passenger window wouldn't go down any more, Mercury's crap blower motor had to be replaced a 3rd time over the decades, and 2 suspension issues). Near the end of the experience , because I just can't deal with the middle, is that I bought a tire my car really didn't need yet, but I'm paranoid. Told car & tire was ready. It wasn't, they couldn't find the tire. Well, that's because it wasn't actually there. Before I left there I asked Anthony for a receipt because he didn't bother to give me one. Told it would be there in a couple days, went back, no one could find it. Furious. I think it was another week and I went back and this time the tire that did arrive was apparently damaged. So, 2 weeks without the new tire I purchased and was asked to wait again. I said no. Magically, I was "upgraded". Frankly, I was in retail for 35 years, I would have "ugraded" me the second time. Also, among what else what was going on I kept saying I have a major leak. I knew this because I used garage clay to clean my private parking spot and right after there was another *huge* puddle. I was told it was condensation from my air conditoner. At that point, I was done. I knew I had a big problem so I went somewhere close to where I live on Lincoln in Santa Monica (you'll have to go look for that review because if I mention it here I think this can get removed). My car had 3, count them, 3 oil leaks, and 2 major coolant leaks. The new mechanic showed me everything, pointed things out and, although I don't know about cars, he really tried to get me to understand and also told me to take pictures. So, why is there 2 stars? Right now, I'm feeling generous because I'm all kinds of pissed. To put on some kind of suspension arms on my car THEY CUT METAL that was covering my brakes, see the pictures. I called Pep Boys from the new place and put the mechanic on the phone with Jr at Pep. I was supposed to take the car back for him to look at it but frankly between missing all the freakin' leaks and cutting my car, I'm just too pissed. The new place was upfront and frank. Don't put anymore money into the car, get rid of it. Buy a new one. He also said that the work that was done should not have cost me as much as it did. Fire Anthony. I asked him where my tire was he said he didn't know, I told him to please find it, and at first I got a blank stare. The second to the last time I was there he caused 2 people to walk out angry and say they weren't coming back. I've sat in that lobby about 5 times and not once did he ever even romotely crack a smile. Twice the techs have left gross oil or black dirt on my floor mats on driver side, again, see pics. Didn't bother to put paper down. My steering wheel was totally disgusting and it made a cloth almost black when when I cleaned it. They left another area completely dirty but I don't know what to call it and it's clean now. Oh, and then there's the time when they took the door panel off to put in the new window mechanics, they lost the cover of a screw. Guess what I was told by a tech: "they don't make it anymore. You can find it and we will pay for it". I responded saying I'm not the one who lost it and it is not my job to find it. Was offered oil changes. Will not be taking them up on it. Corporate might respond to this and tell me to go back to find a resolution. Over my dead body. You want to help me? Give me some damn money back. read more

Got my tire changed and was assured it wouldn't take long. I communicated the day prior that I will need the car to be ready at/before the time I mentioned. Anthony was super unfriendly and looks like he hated his job. He needs to learn how to communicate with customers better, after all he's in the service industry.
