This place is great! Here's why: The Wednesday before Labor Day I drove south about 120 miles to our offices in Marlton, NJ. When I was leaving at the end of the day, my car's engine wouldn't start. I turned the key, but it wasn't turning over. So here I am, a single woman with a dead car and no one close to me to come assist. I remembered driving by a Pep Boys on my way in, so I looked them up and called. Thank God Steve answered the phone. I was stressed that my car croaked and the possibility of not leaving until the Friday of Labor Day weekend was looming. The idea of having to pay hundreds of dollars to have my car towed was also of concern. Well, Steve was AWESOME! He was relaxed, informative and told me to call 1-800-Pep - Boys for a tow. It would be $40 and they would place it on my bill. When I explained to him what happened with my car, he was talking to me like it wasn't a big deal and his calmness made me comfortable-I did not get that creepy feeling like they would take advantage of the single woman with a dead car. Long story short, Steve called me when he got in the next morning, happily told me it was just a battery and an hour later I was on my way with a bill much lower than I expected. Not one to complain much, being as I work in customer service...but twice this place has cancelled my appointments...saying they called and I have no calls on my phone. I used to come here all the time, so I don't know if management is different...but my third attempt I came to see if I could bring it to get this oil change...that's all...at 9am and it wouldn't be done til late evening.... so with out or without a appointment this place is pointless to me. Im a uber driver and recently i made 3000 trips. I came this pepboys center to replace both sides of headlight bulbs yesterday around 5 pm. The person in charge told me that it would be $145 includes labor because bumper needs to be removed in order to replace the bulbs. He even advised that estimated time will be around 45 minutes but he asked me to come next day 9 am since he only had one person in service. I came back again on next day 9 am as i was told, but another person in charge told me whole different story. He said total will be $295 and will be done by hour & half. I asked him why i got two different estimates (more than double!!!) but he tried to show me his computer screen and tried to say he was right. I said i will go another stores to get second option. Then he threw light bulbs to floor very hardly. I turned and told him that "thanks a lot for your attitude" I will not even go to this location from now. I hate Pepboys!!! PS... I went to Exxon gas station on church road. Two mechanics spent an hour to replace of light bulbs. I paid $160..... Wow Pepboys.... You are B!S! read more

Worst experience I got! We called a day before to get price for oil change for Honda Pilot (They ask what car before giving price). The price they gave us was 75 - 20.00 discount. Honda dealer charges 70.00! So we gave ok to do it. After finish the service they say it';s 80.00 -20.00!! They "DIDN'T KNOW" how much oil will be used in advance!! What a BS lies!! I called Pep boys in Marlton; I asked if a broken bolt can be removed, I was told. Yes but we don't have time to do it today.(I also was told call cherry hill or berlin ) I called cherry hill a Ian he says my mater tech is out today ( I too told if of my issues). so I called pep boys towing had it towed to Maple Shade pep boys. I didn't get a phone call, text, or email-- all things they had done previously remind me of my appointment so I know they have my information. What a huge waste of my time. Worst service ever. Had oil change appointment with the Mooresetown NJ Pep Boys yesterday, after making appointment on line. I show up, they were 4+ hours behind and told me their on-line appointment system should not be used, should not be relied on ...after I drove 30 minutes to the appointment. Just returned from another oil change appointment after yesterday's fiasco. This one was at the Marlton, NJ Pep Boys location...And, what a surprise..different location, same story. I show up 10 minutes early, it takes 3 Pep Boys representatives 10 minutes to get off their phones and ask me why I there, and upon advising them of my appointment, I'm told it's a minimum of a 2 hour wait because...(1) several mechanics didn't show up for work today; (2) they had alot of walk-ins; (3) their on-line booking system is wrong and should not be relied upon. Stay away from any Pep Boys. Don't waste your time...because they certainly don't care about wasting their customers' time. Frightening. Absolutely frightening. I'm sure Warren Buffet doesn't own any Pep Boys stock...one visit to a few locations will clearly indicate that this company, like it's service centers, is circling the drain! read more

NEVER AGAIN!!!! I just had an oil change done. I was told it comes with a vehicle inspection. When I asked about the brakes I was told Pep Boys does not check the brakes, only parts underneath the hood. To prove my disgust even further my ABS light was on as well as my check engine light and Pep Boys claimed everything was fine. They also placed my receipt in an envelope for my vehicle that says courtesy VEHICLE check up. Believe it or not there is a section for the car's brake pads and shoes condition. read more

DO NOT COME HERE! #1 incident (Dec-2015): Engine Light came on. Asked for Diagnose test, and they told me the engine gas cap and solenoid valve were required to be changed, asking parts-&-labor for $695. I asked to see the computer analysis code, and they said they could show, but there was more to it. I brought the car to the dealer, and they said there is nothing wrong with the solenoid valve, but only the gas cap. Also they gave me a Christmas sale on a gas cap with free labor, charged me only $62.95. No problem. #2 incident (Oct-2015): brought the car for transmission fluid change, expecting for $205 maximum. They told me to change the brake fluid, rotor, and front brake pads. Since I never really changed till 40,000 miles, I thought what the heck. Told me, it would cost me $798. Came back, charged me $1,159. They said they had to drop a pan for Trans Fluid, accounting extra labor (15 min labor for $114.50). They replaced my rotor instead of grinding. I never chipped off the rotor before; thus, I know there was enough meat. read more

So after talking with service manager, they redid the oil change but this time with a factory oil filter. The aftermarket one they used was not compatible and was not circulating oil properly causing a lack of flow and pressure. This corrected the engine noise. Car has been driving fine. Took it to Pittsburgh and back with no problems. read more

I went it to buy a simple air filter and did not know the size. I spoke with one individual who was not wearing any type of company logo shirt, only an Eagles sweatshirt. I had referenced the part# and couldn't find the item needed. He looked it up in his system and gave me to filter off the shelf. When I questioned the item as it did not match what I had referenced earlier, the employee said the book was out of date and the #s probably changed. Well, he was wrong. He sold me the wrong size, the book was correct. Returned the item. After that I needed a replacement head lamp, again not in stock on the shelf but this same employee tried to sell me an item that was in an open package, when I questioned it he said, don't worry, we checked it. Naahhh, this will be the last time I go to PepBoys. I have an Auto Zone across the street, that has very helpful and offered to replace both the filter and head lamp for me at no cost. read more

Long story short he brushed me to the side and only began to assist me after listening to me calling other places to see how much they charge to change a head and tail light. That was all I needed, an estimate. But no "smart pants Kevin" puts his two cents where it wasn't needed and he lost a customer. To be honest I was hesitant at first to use Pep Boys. I mean Pep Boys is where you buy an air freshener for your car or at most get an oil change right? Well consider me a convert. I was a little stuck. My car was behaving badly and it was a holiday weekend. I was in from out of town so my "regular guy" was way too far away and the local fellow my mom uses was closing for the weekend already. After a little research I bit the bullet and went to the local Pep Boys here in Marlton NJ. Brilliant move on my part. Karl the guy who checked me in was very helpful and honest. He told me they were slammed this weekend and may not be able to get to the car until Monday but there was an off chance that Joe (the guy to whom my car was assigned ) may be able to look at it sooner. Karl described Joe as very hands-on and promised that he was communicative. I got a free ride home from Karl and was hoping I made the right move. About 2-3 hours later I get a call from Joe. The car is on the lift and he is giving me a detailed (but not painfully so) explanation about what was going on with my car. I give the thumbs up for the repair and a few hours later Joe is back on the phone (the bolt was rusted and he had to drill it out and did I know there was an exhaust leak. My girlfriend had been saying there was so I guess I should listen to her more often) So I had him fix that after getting the price. The next morning I called up they got me a Lyft to the shop and I'm good to go. Everyone was terrific and knowledgeable. I work for a company that also prides itself on customer service and I must say I was impressed. This kind of service is endemic of a good corporate culture that values its customers. If only one or two of the employees are good that is just them if they are all good it's still them but it is also the corporate culture and management that is responsible. So here are some thoughts about dealing with a big company rather than a "local guy". A big company has a set price for every repair that they do and it's usually fair and competitive. Joe, the guy who did the work has no real incentive to up-sell me or over charge me as "local guy" might. In fact there would be a disincentive since too many customer complaints could mean his job. They had all the parts I needed. I have a 2002 car the part that was replaced was a camshaft sensor. "Local guy" may not have had it on hand adding to the delay. Also the catalytic converter (aka exhaust leak) was another part they had on hand. They were open all weekend. Since they have a few dozen folks working there they are able to be there when I need them. I get that "Local guy" needs time off and I don't begrudge him that. In fact it was "Local guy" that clued me onto Pep Boys to begin with. I never would have though of them without his help. Because they are a big company they can choose good people. Good people want opportunity for some advancement and "local guy" is limited in his ability to do that. I can't say I'm happy my car needed work but I'm pretty thrilled I found these guys and changed my mind about this company. Dropped of my car at 3PM for a simple tire patch and plug. I was told there was a 3-3.5 hour wait - which was no big deal, I don't live far. Fast forward to 8:40 PM, when I arrive at the shop to see that my car hasn't even been on a lift yet. I'm told they "couldn't find the leak" - even though the tire hasn't been removed from the car to be inspected in the first place. read more

I'm still trying to figure out a week later,why it took 4 hours to get 4 tires on my car. After 3 hours of sitting at Pep Boys I asked why it was taking so long. Started my working life 30 years ago at Pep Boys and recently started returning to this place for oil changes and general service work.The service is mostly walk in and they are very efficient with getting the job done. Mobil one oil change for the Tahoe was $89 even could not do it much cheaper myself. Great for parts and accessories but terrible for service. U need a tire, fine they have decent prices however they will try and sell u on unnecessary extras such as tire insurance. Lol they tried to sell me on an alignment without even seeing my car. It was still in parking lot. They ARE NOT CERTIFIED MECHANICS! Any kid right out of h.s can work there. I trained these types of kids at another establishment near by. Some still screw up oil changes. I would never recommend them for any real mechanical work. Wiper blades and light bulbs fine but anything other than that no way. read more

Atrocious phone etiquette. The focus should be on addressing the issues the customer comes in with, not touting a 28-point inspection that didn't address the actual issue. Pep Boys should be taking responsibility and ownership for the tires I've consistently had issues with. Complete and utter waste of time. The associate Suzanne complained about understaffing issues to me, but failed to recognize how inconsequential that amounts to when it comes to the quality of service that should be provided. The mechanic tampered with the settings of my car and neglected to revert them to what they were prior to handing back the car. If a person comes in with a complaint on tire pressure, they shouldn't be upcharged on a rim evaluation to fix a problem that should've been resolved and diagnosed with the initial check. I used to trust Pep Boys. Unless there is change, you've lost a dedicated customer who has used your services across multiple states. I am also contacting customer care at corporate directly. The Marlton, NJ location ought to be shut down if this is how they operate. It seems you're more interested in profit, then service. What a pitiful decline. read more

I come to pep boys because I feel as though they pride their company on their convenience, efficiency and thorough work. I unfortunately found neither of these perks in my latest experience at their location. I got tires put on my vehicle here and within a year had several plugs put in and now most recently have bad a slow leak that took another several trips to their shop before anyone would take the time to do anything more than put more air in them only to lose it by the next day. It was very frustrating to have to spend my time going back so many times for something they should have been able to correct sooner. Another thing that turned me off from wanting to return again (or refer others to) was the amount of swearing and pure disrespect to other employees that was going on on the shop floor. I was there over lunch which is clearly a peak time for them and it was very unsettling and awkward to witness. Needless to say, I won't be returning here nor would I recommend it to anyone else. read more

I purchased 4 tires online and had requested they be shipped to the Marlton Pepboys. Unfortunately, the order didn't go through as promised so when I showed up for the tire installation, not all the tires were there. John at service was able to get me a complete set of tires from a different state and even compensated me for the inconvience caused by the issue with the online order. John was a great guy to work with and kept all his promises. The tech who installed the tires did a great job. I would go back to this Pepboys store for tires. In the end, the deal worked out better than having tires shipped from tirerack to an independent installer. read more

We took my Jeep Commander in for the tires to be serviced. They took the afternoon to take care of it which is fine because they did communicate that to us. The service was reasonably priced and they do offer a military discount for active duty. They also offer a rewards card that can you sign up for. Besides car services they also have a retail store attached that you can purchase auto supplies from. We purchased a car cover that had a rebate available. The rebate process was EASY and QUICK. My driver's side windshield broke off during a snow storm on February 2nd, just as I was leaving to go to work! Fortunately, the Pep Boys nearby was open. Dan, who was stationed at the front of the store, directed me to Kevin, at the back. Kevin helped solve my problem quickly - he asked the usual questions about make, model, etc. and offered me some choices and then directed me to the mechanic's bay to have it installed. As I was staring the car, out comes Kevin (in a short sleeve shirt - no coat, etc.). Turned out all the mechanics called out due to the storm, so Kevin installed the blade himself. I'm guessing he could see my situation from a camera in the store. We wished each other a good day and said goodbye. Until I couldn't get my car out of the parking spot - apparently the plowing contractor hadn't gotten there yet that day. So, here comes Kevin to the rescue again, short sleeves and all, and he shovels me out! That is service above and beyond the call of duty. Manny, Moe and Jack would be very proud! read more

2 hours for an oil change when I made an appointment online. Most of the time I was watching my car with the hood up and the employees goofing off. They were using curse words and joke cussing at each other using words suck as f*ck and other inappropriate words exactly where the customers are. When I walked in I was barely greeted by the attendant who wasn't wearing a name tag. I told him I had an appointment and he basically looked at his computer and didn't even look at me. I told him what my car/name was and he still didn't acknowledge me, least he looked at me this time and wrote down my paperwork.. I contemplated leaving at this point but decided to give him my keys anyway... I wish I read the reviews before coming here looks like it's been pretty bad these past few days/weeks.... Awful Awful awful customer Service. You call put on hold for 10 minutes at a time!! Personally went there to get light bulb changed on tail light, after they lookied at it, since it was an older BMW, said they could do it but were backed up come back in 2 hrs. Went back, went to grab a bite while they put in light bulb, get back and lo and behold they do not have the right bulb!! Said they would order it for Monday and would call me. Monday comes and goes and no call. I call this morning, Tuesday morning and no light bulb, they never even ordered it (even though I have a copy of a work order) and are asking me to go get the VIN number from the car so they can get the bulb from the dealer !! I made an appointment online for 8:00 am, specifying what is was for and that I would be waiting. I got there early, but they did not open the doors until after 8. Then I was told that no technicians are in until 9. I asked why I could make an 8 am appt and his only response was 'Well the website also says we do state inspections and we don't'. Really? I did not feel like waiting, so I rescheduled for 9. When I got back in, he (his name is Kevin) asked what I was there for. I said, the tire. He got very obnoxious, saying how was he supposed to remember that. Besides the fact I was in there an hour prior, I listed the reason for the appointment online. He says, it is not listed on the appt. WTF. What an obnoxious POS. I said never mind and walked out. They are rude, unprofessional and incompetent. (I have had issues with them in the past).
