On Sunday October 27, had an flat tire and the help they sent me from the car insurance, the man who came could not change the tire, I had to call a tow to take the car to repair it, the closest place to me was the pep boys from Calle 8. on Sundays many places are closed. I was with my baby and my mom. Upon arriving at the place I told an employee what happened and his answer was we can not help you with that. Then I ask to speak with the manager and he tells me the same. It bothered me that no one could help me, in a place that is supposedly a place to fix tires and cars. My frustration reached the top. When the car arrives, the manager tells the tow not to lower the car that they cannot help me with the tire problem. Well, anyway, the towing guy was very kind and more human and when he saw me in this situation he wanted to help me and took me to another place (Tire plus) they helped me with the problem. They should improve the service of this place. It is the second time that I go to that place and the service is bad. Not being able to fix something so simple. There was a great pep boys associate named Alexandra who not only was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful she did it all with a smile. The store is pretty busy and requires mult-tasking by these employees and she didn't miss a beat as she took care of my business first and foremost. NEVER take your car to Pep Boys! Do not shell out thousands of dollars for mediocre service when you can have a reputable shop do better work for a fraction of the cost. I've had my car for about about two years. The problems started about a year ago (coincidentally after I first took it in to Pep Boys for an oil change). In total I've brought my vehicle in to 5 different Pep Boys locations and they are ALL amateurs and crooks. The first major problem I had was when I took it in for an oil leak which was misdiagnosed as a leaking hose (I'll get to that later). They "fixed" the leak in the hose for nothing more than the cost of the part (less than $20), but also found a power steering fluid leak which they charged about $1,300 to fix as they needed to replace the entire rack and pinion. SIX DAYS LATER, my power steering pump just happened to give out. Pep Boys would not admit fault and it cost another $900 to replace the dead part, which I had to open a Pep Boys credit card account to pay for at that point. A few weeks later I noticed that I was still losing oil rapidly despite Pep Boys having fixed the leak. Fed up, I brought it to another repair shop and the issue was resolved quickly and affordably. Fast forward 11 months. I'm out of town when suddenly my power steering gives out AGAIN as I'm pulling into a parking space. With no choice, I have my car towed to a nearby Pep Boys and have them look at it. Surprise surprise, my power steering pump is dead AGAIN. Another $900 later and I'm able to drive back home. It's been about two weeks since then and by SHEER coincidence I have now discovered yet ANOTHER power steering fluid leak. I'm not even going to contact Pep Boys about this because I just know they will not admit fault and would probably just tell me I need another costly repair that I cannot afford. I will not be giving them the chance to con me again. Pep Boys has zero integrity, they will charge you double what other places charge and they'll screw up your car in the process. I am not down playing Pep Boys but I can't say I have enough experience with their brand to provide a rating or opinion. However, I did deal with CECILIA while I was there. I was in to make a return/exchange from a previous purchase. It was very, very complicated since the associate who rang me up made a mess of my order. Cecilia took the time to explain item by item and also coordinate the return/exchange. She even needs to get approval from here superior which she did on the spot. I was highly impressed by the service and expertise of the sales associates at this establishment. I recently came back from a long trip home (over 2000 miles) and before I left I had my car serviced with the up most care and I enjoyed the smoothest trip to and back. Upon my return to get my car checked out again, the assistant manager, Pedro, was quite the gentlemen and master of his trade. while I have been going to this pep boys for many years, I have never had to use the service part of the company. I have only went to buy parts. Today, however I decided to try them out by getting an alignment. Truth be told, that the service manager is the biggest jerk on the planet. Taking his sweet time to help various customers waiting to submit their cars. After waiting for over 30 minutes, the service guy was pushing for me to buy 2 new tires. After discussing with them for about 20 minutes, I told them I was not going to buy 2 new rear tires, this did not go well with them, and they simply told me that they would not align my car!! I bought 4 new tires @ Tiresrack and they recommend that Pep Boys Store DAY !: I called and talked to a guy named Reinier;he told me that i can go the next day to install the tires.DAY 2: Went to the store @ 10;30 wait there for 3 hours and got no service;asked for Reineir and He told me that he's going to give me an appointment for the next day @ 12 P.M so I don't have to wait;give me an cost price for install & alignment.DAY 3:Got to the shop @ 11:25 they got my info and I waited until 3:15 P.M NO SERVICE !!! Nice guys but tried ripping me off. $860 to replace spark plugs and 1 coil and they told me BMWs need a tune up every 60,000 miles. Then brought it to BMW service shop and he will replace coil for $200- he said BMW spark plugs are made to last 100,000 miles. Will not be going back to Pep Boys. read more

For many years ive been going to tire plus for service and never ever got the good treatment that i get like when im at pep boys 8st location my car is a 2004 Hyundai sonata a very old car the first time i brought my car to Pedro Rodriguez at pep boys he took good care of me i mean my car rides better then a 2014 sonata ive been coming her since the end of 2012 they always give me good deals i have a rewards card and they send me free money all the time im not just talking Pedro Rodriguez really need to be employee of the month with a raise because he really s love the customer Ive started my own cleaning company and my funds was real low and i needed new tires i came to Freddy one of the other workers he called Pedro and i left with new tires at a good rate omg i give these guy past five stars i give them a 10 when it comes to customer service. I went here to get two stripped tire studs replaced. First off they did not have the studs. I had to drive to the dealer and get them. They did a good job of replacing them. In-fact it took less than an hour. The Cuban mechanics here are good... that's why I went there in the first place. They have done work on my other cars. But now things have changed. They have sales guys that do not know crap about cars upfront giving you quotes. These guys (one name: Celso J. and another big headed dude there that doesn't know anything about cars) are corporate placed crooks there to steal your money. I asked one of them how much would it be for the mechanic to look at my brakes. He told me to my face. Brake inspections are free. I said are your sure? Yes, I will have him look at your brakes. After everything was said and done. I looked at my bill and there was a $15.00 charge for the brake inspection. That's fine. I took my car to the Tire Kingdom down the road (that same day) on 2821 SW 8 street and let them change my brakes. Never again will I go to Pep Boys Little Havana. You just lost a long time customer you dumb***. Oh plus Tire Kingdom is cheaper, they can sale you insurance on your new tires, and they open at 730am. read more

Brought my Toyota in to replace the car's serpentine belt. They replaced it but told me that the car was going to have a screeching noise because the pulleys needed to be replace & that was going to be about $800.00. I drove the car out and the noise was so loud and annoying I considered parking my car in another neighborhood. When I called them up and suggested that maybe the serpentine belt was not placed correctly, they said "No it is because of the bad pulleys" Took my car to another place recommended by a co-worker and they said "Nothing wrong with the pulleys, they just put the serpentine belt wrong" Wasted money, wasted time; Pep Boys on 8 St is the epitome of incompetence. read more

I replaced the tires on my truck today and received excellent service from Pepboys. Both the manager, Pedro, and the assistant manager, Freddy, were very friendly and helpful. The mechanic did an outstanding job; although it sounds like a simple task, he took his time and was extremely careful with my new wheels. I forgot to mention that I had new wheels installed which I purchased on sale during Black Friday! If I could choose no starts I would have. I visited the store and they picked out tires to fit on my car. I went on line and ordered the tires with a 10% discount and made an appointment for the next day to have them installed. When I got there.I waited almost 40 minutes to get waited on. After declining to have an alignment and the service plan, I wanted to pay for the tires. They then said they couldn't install them because they were the wrong tire. I left and called customer service. They will get back to me in 24-48 hours. Am on my way to Tires Plus in a few minutes. Never again Pep Boys. read more

I can't thank William and Heriberto at Pepboys enough for what they did for me. They went above and beyond the call of duty to help me. William was super courteous, patient and helpful. Heriberto jumped into action to fix my car, even though it was a Friday night (and the day before Christmas Eve), 15 minutes before closing time, and this wasn't even a repair that was normally done at Pepboys. I was on vacation in Miami, and while parking on a dark street, I backed up into a big concrete slab lying on the sidewalk/road. This had caused my muffler to disconnect from most of its attachments, so it was hanging low to the ground and vibrating while the car was on. It was 7:30 pm on a Friday, the day before Christmas Eve. Pepboys was the only auto place still open, and only until 8 pm. I called, and William was very kind on the phone. He said that they didn't usually do work on the muffler of cars (that would be a body shop), but that since I was only about 5 minutes away, I could drive over and they would take a look. It took me 15 minutes to get there, because I had to drive so slowly on the bumpy streets, to avoid the muffler breaking off completely. When I got there, William and the mechanic Heriberto took a look, and Heriberto said he could reattach the muffler. It was 10 minutes to closing when he took the car and got it hoisted up to start working on it. William invited me and my daughter into the store while the repair was being done. At 8:45 pm, 45 minutes AFTER closing time, I was able to leave with my muffler reattached, and the car sounding normal again. It is rare to find people willing to give up some of their well-deserved rest after a long week's work, to help out a stranger. I am incredibly thankful to William and Heriberto. Thanks to them I can drive the car today, and enjoy the Christmas Holiday with my "vacation car troubles" behind me! read more

Update: 10/07/14 After several emails from corporate office, someone (a sub-manager I think he said) called from this store to "apologize" The problem is ; he had no clue as to WHY he was calling me to apologize for... i.e. just Adding Insult to Injury ... BAD ! Demoting those two managers would be a solution ! 10/03/14 Wish I could give the employee on the pic and the mechanic I met 4 more stars for their gracious customer service.However, Parts/Repairs Mgr Pedro at this location & counterpart at Bird Rd shop Mgr Eddy, both in one day, made my life miserable. Day started with car failing to start.At 8th St. I was advised to test the "starter" but their equipment was broken.At my request they called Bird Rd location and was told there it would be OK to have the starter checked at NO CHARGE. It took one hour driving time during rush hour to get to the Bird Rd store where No one remembered talking to the 8th St shop. A counter employee not really listening to me, walked to my car and started checking the BATTERY. Doesn't answer when I question him. Instead, he calls over another employee passing by & which I later found out was their parts & repairs manager. Without my consent and not paying attention to my protests, he orders the employee inside my car to start-off-start-off-several times. Then he rushingly tells me:... The "starter test" would cost me $85.00 but that the problem really was the Alternator...but that I would have to leave the car there overnight for the "master mechanic" to do the test and diagnostic the next day. All this sounded nonsensical to me. I then called 8th St Mgr. "Pedro" who indifferently told me to speak to the Bird Rd. Mgr. who by this time was not in the shop according to staff. In short, I was given the typical run around women get by mechanics . I was lied to and disrespected while obviously expecting to grab every $$$ they could. Needless to say I won't do "business" with ANY Pep Boys ever again. Sad part is ; there's nowhere else to go. Sears is the same. Neighborhood shops are just as bad or worse.
