Had a 9:30 am appointment scheduled to get four tires installed. Wife showed up at 9:15. They didn't get started on her car till almost 12 pm. It took them over 1:30 to install four tires. This is the worst business I have ever visited in my life! I went here because a "free ac check is being advertised on the pep boys website. Every employee in this store is RUDE from the front counter to the service techs. The man with glasses at the front counter was rude to everyone who walked in including me. He demanded I get out of the store when I told him it was false advertisement for charging me 70plus dollars to check the ac when I thought it was free based on the advertisement. I was still willing to pay but just pointing out the advertisement. Also once I refused the 1300 dollars to repair and to get financed is when he became aggressive. I then went outside and waited for them to bring my vehicle not knowing if the maliciously did somethin. I was about to call the police in fear for my safety. I went to store #0191 north little rock Ar. on sat. Nov.14th. I had a tire mounted I was charged $42.15. When I got home and looked at the bill it was not even my bill.It someone Named Daivd Acuna tracking # 2311875.When I called to see about fixing the mistake the lady was very rude and hung on me TWICE ! WARNING!!! ZERO STARS!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!! Even if your best alternative option is to walk 5 miles to the next available option, you're better off doing that. It is not safe to use this location or business. My family and I were on a long road trip and far from home and started having trouble with our van, so we pulled into the closest automotive shop and UNFORTUNATELY it ended up being this location. We assumed that since it's a big corporation chain, they should be trustworthy, well trained, and accountable to do a safe and honest job.....THEY ARE NOT!!!! We figured out the alternator was the issue and since it was late on Sunday night the 3rd we had no choice but to trust them to keep our van, fix it the following day, and make sure it was safe to drive home. We had to scramble to find a rental van to continue on our trip. They said they would replace the alternator the following day on the 4th (this was the only repair we discussed and the only one we gave consent for). We called them on the 5th assuming it was finished and we would get an all clear report but they said they had not begun the job yet, seemed fine we would finish our trip and pick it up on the way home on the 7th. We told them to call us and let us know if anything else came up once they were doing the job. We never heard back from them on the 6th either. So it's Thursday morning the 7th, our day to drive home, and we haven't heard anything from them so we get ready to go and start driving the 8 hours back to them in the rent a car we need to return and when we call them they inform us that they finally replaced the alternator and "oh by the way we saw that some other things needed to get changed so we replaced those belts and we are texting you the bill you have to pay before picking up your van." Ummmmm, we already paid them the bill for replacing the alternator, which was extremely high to begin with, over $800, and we paid in full when we left it with them. We were NEVER informed of ANY other needed repairs, nor were we ever asked for CONSENT for them to replace additional parts. We specifically told them to let us know about any other needs, to which they flat out ignored. We already knew the belt needed to be replaced soon, and we had planned to do so after our trip and when our friend could help us. It is not absolutely necessary for the serpentine belt to be replaced at the same time as the alternator. It is the best option if you are able to, but not a forced issue. Seeing as we just paid an unexpected $800 alternator bill while on vacation, not including the rent a car bill, we were in NO PLACE to take on another $460 bill for replacing a belt. If the company would have practiced ANY form of diligence or communication to inform us, the paying customer, or Ask For Our Consent we would have certainly declined the additional work and heeded their advise to get it taken care of quickly on our own. But that's not where it ends...... Not only did they do UNAUTHORIZED work and overcharge for it, but they rushed through the job and butchered or van in the process. By the time we reach them and get our vehicle they are about to close and wont answer our questions as to why they did the unauthorized work in the first place. By the time we are looking over our van and notice a puddle of fluid under our van it's too late and they are gone for the day and we have no choice but to leave and head home. While inspecting our vehicle we notice the power steering fluid reservoir has mysteriously sprung a NEW leak and is covering everything under it with fluid and is now running low......this happening after we specifically asked them to check for any leaks and they told us there was NO leaks and everything looked fine.......doesn't match up. We also notice they CUT a hole into the plastic wheel well liner and down into the underside of the front of the hood. So now it is no longer attached and dragging the ground and rubbing against our front right tire. We had to secure it with zip ties and buy more power steering fluid just to barely get home. And now we have to replace the reservoir and flush and bleed the power steering cause air got into it. Everything about this buisness and location was absolutely horrifying. I demand the bill from the unauthorized work to be fully refunded to me and I believe a partial refund of the brutally butchered alternator replacement and cut open covering is also necessary. This is absolutely ridiculous that we went in for ONE problem to be fixed and then we unknowingly had to pay for TWO replacement jobs and even after all that money was taken from us we still ended up leaving with TWO NEW PROBLEMS that we had to fix ourselves. Their negligence and neglect could have caused a wreck and possibly even worst since we were driving home late at night with a ticking time bomb and my children and mother in the vehicle. Norman - shop manager- must be under incredible pressure to bill, bill, bill. How much can we bill? You build a company through knowledgeable staff, good service, and fair price - none of which I felt coming from Norman. On early dropoff, no envelopes in drop box - Norman received and said they 'keep stealing them'. So what would I have done before work to drop off car? Wait and be late? Pep boys corporate, please address. His mechanic seemed competent when I spoke, but was aghast when told when Norman was billing for just the diagnostic, nearly $220. That in addition to the +$550, would have put me out $770 for a front brake caliper/bracket and fluid flush. (google search shows $3-$500 total) All because I had ONE mounting bolt missing, causing rubbing against the rim. They couldn't replace the bolt, because in front of me he called his 'insurance' and said they couldn't do it, liability. What world has this become? Please don't take your car to Pep Boys in North Little Rock Arkansas. I had tires installed there by John and he put my car up on the lift wrong. They did over $6000.00 in damages to the under carriage and two rims. I complained to Lee in Memphis Tennessee district manager and he referred me to claims professional Ty Freeman and told me they will inspect my car and look at the shop video camera. I received a call and a letter from Ty Freeman a few weeks later and she told me Pep Boys will not take reasonability for the damages to my car. They never investigated, taken pictures or asked me to bring the car down or ask me to e-mail the pictures to them. Totally unethical. I even taken pictures while my car was on the lift while at Pep Boys and I had a feeling my car was on the lift wrong. My insurance company and two auto body collision repair shops agreed that my car was put up on the lift wrong. My insurance company told me they will go after Pep Boys for the costs and attorney fees when the repairs on my car are completed. Pep Boys refuses to fire John or Deandre Norman the rude manager at the store. Pep Boys is run by the most vile employees I have ever met. Never again. They need to be closed down for good. They should be put out of business. I wish I would have read the poor reviews first. I will for now on read the reviews before I go spend my hard earn money any where. I waited a few days for my anger to subside before writing this review of Pep Boys - McCain Rd. North Little Rock AR. I went to Pep Boys after getting a quote for changing out shocks that I would provide for installation. Their price was a bit more than Crain Ford , but, I went with them because I had decided not to use Crain Ford for any repair work. ( Justifiably bad reviews ). The first mechanic at Pep Boys is a good example of what I look for in a mechanic. I asked him questions - he answered them and performed his work well ( David ? - installation of Front Shocks ). The service advisor and I butted heads over the " new " pricing based upon what Pep Boys calls a " Shop Fee " which he ( Robert ) could not tell me exactly what it is. I stood in line for literally one hour while Robert scheduled walk ins for work to be done on their vehicles. No chairs ( plenty of room for them ,but, unlike other repair shops Pep Boys didn't see the need to spend money for the comfort of the consumer paying the repair bill ) I scheduled an appointment to return to Pep Boys to have the rear shocks installed when they arrived for me locally and arrived there on time at 8:00 A.M. 3 hours later the mechanic ( Ian ? ) was installing the tires on to my vehicle. I stood at the waiting room window and watched him as he used his pneumatic wrench to tighten down the lug nuts before tapping the wheel covers on. I was shocked to see this as any shade tree mechanic knows that the lug nuts must be tightened to the correct poundage with a TORQUE WRENCH. Ian ? brought my vehicle around to the service area front door and was handing the keys over to the service advisor when I asked him if he had torqued the lug nuts down. He replied that he had. I told him that I was watching him through the window and he had NOT used a torque wrench but had simply used his pneumatic wrench to complete installation. He asked me if I wanted him to take my vehicle back to the shop area and torque them down correctly to which I told him that I didn't want him anywhere near my vehicle. He looked at me and said " Why do you have to be such and ass " ? This was enough for me to reply by calling him a F _ _ _ head and told him that was apprentice level mechanical work. He huffed off back to the shop. I then asked the service advisor if he had heard that verbal transaction and he replied that he had heard it. I told him that I wanted him to write down what he had heard - sign it and date it. He said that he did not have to and was not going to write down what I had requested him to write about the verbal transaction between Ian ? and myself. I then asked him to give me the name of his Supervisor so that I could pursue this further. He wrote the name of his Supervisor down on a Pep Boys card and gave it to me. He then gave me my receipt and I left. When I arrived home I immediately called the Pep Boys number that he had given me and filed a report on what had happened here at the Little Rock AR Pep Boys. I really don't understand how they stay in business ( Pep Boys = North Little Rock and Crain Ford - Jacksonville ). The mechanical care of vehicles is a big business and pays well ( $150.00 + per hour ) and being a mechanic is almost an elite position rather than a trade. Mechanics " look at " other vehicles - charging hourly rates / manual quote rates while " working on " my vehicle. Well here is yet another bad review for Pep Boy's on McCain across from Best Buy. I have a nail in my tire and would like it patched. So who else comes to mind but the few major brands Firestone, Meineke, and yours truly Pep boys. So I read a lot of reviews and Pep Boy's has the most negative reviews. So I said I'm going to give Pep Boy's a shot maybe I will be able to give them a good review so they don't just have negative reviews. Well I dropped it at 10am. The guy running the front or the POS, look lazy barely lifted his hands to type my info in. Absolute No urgency whatsoever. He said they won't be able to even touch it until 1pm. Prior customer of 10+ years of this location who went here for an oil change and tire rotation. Set an 11AM appointment for 12/17/21 the night before (12/16/21). Received an email from Pep Boys at 11:13AM 12/17 stating "sorry you couldn't make it to your appointment... let's reschedule your appointment" even though I had shown up. I dropped off my vehicle and never received a call, a text or an email concerning the work being finished. Google states this location closes @7pm. I showed up @5:45, and it was locked up tight. I called 1-800-PEP-BOYS, and the customer service rep. attempted to call the service manager but to no avail. I understand the labor market right now, but I don't understand why a sign wasn't in the window and a call wasn't made to me advising my vehicle was ready and that they were closing early. DO NOT GO TO PEP BOYS/HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!! On 8/7/2023 I arrived for my appointment at 10am. I got checked in, I advised the assistant manager, Kathy, that my appointment was for an oil change, windshield wiper fluid replacement, and brake inspection. I knew this would take some time and I was prepared to wait for the oil change and the findings on the brake inspection to see what was needed to be done to my vehicle. At approximately 11am I looked out into the parking lot and my vehicle was still parked in the same place. At this time I had been waiting for an hour and my vehicle hadn't even been brought back for inspection. I went and asked for an update and Kathy stated they were going to get my vehicle back shortly. I waited and eventually my car disappeared from the parking lot. I continued waiting and eventually it got around to 12:30pm, I figured at this point someone would've made contact with me to update me on what services were needed after the brake inspection. I walked to the front and Kathy had gone to lunch without making contact with me and my keys were back at the front for check out. The other manager, Howard, grabbed my keys and was going to help me check out. I asked what they found during the brake inspection and what ended up being the cause of the noise. He stated that they never conducted a brake inspection. He stated they only replaced the oil. I explained that I had been there since my appointment time at 10am and an inspection hadn't even been conducted. He didn't even attempt to try to make things right by getting my vehicle inspected. Just chalked it up as poor training with Kathy. Being frustrated I just told him to let me pay for the oil change and I would contact someone else about my brakes. When I got inside my vehicle they didn't even reset the oil system that notifies when an oil change is needed. They also didn't even fill my windshield wiper fluid up when I specifically asked for that with the oil change. Three hours wasted later I am now spending the rest of my day at Discount Brake and Tire where they were able to diagnose my vehicle in under thirty minutes. The absolute WORST experience ever. I hobbled in to the McCain Blvd store with a dead battery. Once i turned the car off in front of their store, it wouldnt start again. Finally got someone to help me and write up a work ticket (come to find out it was the store manager, Norman) i was told " We will test the battery to make sure thats what it is, and withing 2 hours i will give you a call". After almost 5 1/2 hours and my 2 calls to them only to be told "you are next in line" both times, i went up there. Within 30 minutes I had a new battery ($186.55) and was on my way. They are terrible!! Just call a customer and say you cant get to them when you say you can so they can go somewhere else. Absolute terrible service!!! read more

This was literally the worst service I've ever had. I WOULDNT RECOMMEND anyone go here for literally any service. The general manager Norman was completely unprofessional. Both to me and to anyone he answers the phone for (after standing there and letting it ring multiple times). He stated my service would take 3 hrs but it took 10. The 1st mechanic that worked on my car was completely unprofessional yelling at me when I asked how the fix was going. And literally after "fixing" the ball joint/ alignment of my car the next day it popped off while I was driving on the street. If I was driving on the freeway I would've totaled my car and possibly would've died. When I came back to the shop the manager refused to come in to address me himself and he refused to give me my money back for endangering my life and the horrible service. Because of my car breaking down due to their lack of good service I missed an entire day of work and the general manager Norman had zero sympathy. He supposedly made a claim but couldn't provide me with any additional information. He left early for the day before I could get off from my job in the army on the camp Robinson army base. When I went to pick up my car for the 2ND time I notice he had a stack of business cards with a signed paper saying "hello I'm Norman the general manager of the nlr store location store #191 and i am happy to help call at any time" it was around 4:30pm and I called the mobile #listed. When he answered he yell and cursed at me saying to never call his number again. Now I'm supposedly waiting for a call from corporate for the claim because I've been calling for the last 4 days ( 1800-pep boys) and I've been on hold for an hour Every-time. No one ever picks up the phone. If the manager didn't hold my car for ransom the first day I would've rather took my car to another place for better more reliable service. Now I have a $1300 charge, wasted time, wasted gas & I had to miss an entire day of work w/o any compensation or even a "sorry" from the stores general manager. We actually had a bad experience with the entire crew they all have a negative attitude and are very inpatient and make you feel like thinconveniencing them. When trying to talk to them over the phone they hang up while you're in the middle of a sentence. They've had my aunts car for going on six weeks and they haven't given any information about how my aunts car is going to get fixed. I dropped my car off there two weeks ago for repairs that should be fully covered under my SilverRock warranty, and they still haven't even sent in all the pictures SilverRock needs to process the claim. This means my car has sat in their parking lot for two weeks with NO REPAIRS while I have had NO CAR. (And all of this is after waiting two MONTHS for them to call me back after ordering parts I guess they never ordered....) Why would it take two weeks to send in some pictures? If they ask for more pictures send them the same day. Don't move on to another customer or drop the issue until the issue is resolved. I came to this location to get a inspection done in my vehicle. The General Manager signed the Lyft paperwork without going outside to inspection the vehicle . It was a female coworker up front when this occurred. I said I have another vehicle but I did not have the inspection with me. I was told to bring the paperwork and not the car that he would not go outside to check the car. I came back a week later on a Saturday and another person was upfront so the manager said sit down I must check the car and quoted policy. I said last week you done something different. He acted unprofessional and said he didn't know me I left . This guys needs to be fired he is bipolar. I have the copy of the first inspection I can send in a copy of this signature and false paperwork. I read other complains and why does this guy still have a JOB!!! I wish I could give this place zero stars. My husband took my car to the North Little Rock location on a Monday. Of course they were busy and told him that their next available appointment was for Thursday (2/17/21) at noon. He told them to book the appointment. He drives up there for the scheduled appointment just to be told these idiots didn't even book the appointment. We also have our oil service covered with Carvana and Pep Boys is Tom the approved list to have oil changes done at. We didn't have the coupon on hand which they said we needed and is not accurate. We have had other oil changes done without said voucher and had zero issues with other competent companies making the call to ensure the voucher was legitimate. I'm tired of lazy people using Covid as an excuse to do below par work. I normally go to Menike for my oil service but they close early during the winter months and I opted to go to Pep Boys. Read the reviews and brushed them off. Boy was I WRONG!! I came in and there was a young lady there with three other customers in front of me. Two were drivers for Lyft and Uber who needed their cars inspected. Now granted they were first, however, better customer service skills would have been to address the two customers who needed to check in and deal with the two guys who had inspections last. She did address us but filled out their forms and THEN went out side while me and the older gentleman just stood there looking crazy. A minute later another gentleman walked in and went to the back of the counter. He proceeded to roll tires in before he addressed us. He then proceeded to take care of the older gentleman and informed him that there were about 15 cars ahead of him. I gasped and to myself stated "Omg that many" because I made my appointment late last night. This guy proceeded to tell me in a nasty way "I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to him". Now that was so unprofessional and uncalled for because I wasn't talking to him. When he finished he fiddled around with paperwork then decided to ask me what did I need. When I informed him that I had a 10:00 am appointment, he indicated he didn't see one. I explained that I made it online and said well there are five 10:00 appointments and I don't know when we will get to you. He wasn't accommodating until I told him forget it. I guess he felt bad because he recommended another place down the street. Went there and got BETTER customer service and was in and out. I highly recommend that you stay away from PEP BOYS and go to McCain Oil Change which is by the Walmart and Shells gas station. read more

I know that their reputation as a national dealer is good, but this location has some serious issues. 3 hours and 10 dollars for a brake check...REALLY? I guess good help is hard to find. read more
