Dropped off my vehicle for an oil change and a radiator flush... they kept it overnight and ended up being able to do neither, and I left the next day with nothing done. I had to call for updates multiple times on the status, and I wouldn't have known they were even planning on keeping it later/overnight if I had not called, since no one bothered to reach out to me (despite saying they would). Quoted me $500+ at pick up for an 'issue' with the oil pan... went somewhere else the next day and got the oil change AND the radiator flush for $300 in less than 2 hours. If you don't know how to do an oil change on the vehicle... just say so! Will certainly not be returning after this... I just saved $200 by going somewhere else...Be careful out there yinz! read more

I want to know what is going on at this place that they cannot seem to patch a tire without major issues. It cost me $238 total and a 2 day major headache. I brought my car here because I had a simple nail in the tread of my tire. They snapped one of the studs while taking it off the tire and broke the other while putting it back on. They asked me if I wanted to have them repair those broken studs in addition to the tire. They blamed the previous mechanic stating that he had likely stripped the studs. The car could no longer drive so I paid to have it towed to a reputable tire shop to get the studs and nuts replaced. Then I took it back to the mechanic who did the tire rotation and he was able to remove the other three tires and put them back on no problem. I think the likely culprit here is pep boys. read more

Our car needed an inspection, they let us make an appointment but then said they would not be able to look at the car until the next day. After hours of waiting for a call the next day they informed us that the car failed inspection and they wanted $1500 for some "problems" they found and to replace the windshield wipers. We let them fail it and I just ordered some wipers off Amazon for $20 and then we took the car to a dealership and it passed inspection without issue. I had an 8am appointment for brakes and was literally the first person in the store when they opened. I was told my car would be done between 9-10am. My car wasn't brought back for FOUR hours and then they quoted me $650-$700 for rear brake pads and rotors - which after doing a bit of research seems quite high. They also told me the coupon I had for "auto maintenance and repair" might not apply to everything even though it says nothing about excluding brake repairs. Lamont did the inspection and came back with the backing plate was rubbing. He made an adjustment and had me out the door so I could keep my appointment that evening. NO CHARGE. Been there before but the last few times have had horrible service. Took an entire day to have my tire plugged due to a nail. In the past, that has taken only an hour or 2 at the same location. Had an appointment for inspection at 10am on Saturday, but did not receive my car back until after 5pm Sunday. I was not made aware of them keeping my car overnight. Had they told me that I would have cancelled my service, I was suppose to work Sunday. As it turned out, I had to call out of work Sunday, lost wages, only to be told they hadn't even started on my car and at this point it was Sunday at 9:30am. When I dripped my car off the first time the person at the front desk was being rude to me even though I was prepared and had an appointment. They said they would take a couple of hours and it took 3 days just for an engine diagnostic. When I came back for my state inspection with my partner, they had to jump into our conversation due to the man being extremely rude and it's me and going back and forth with me over my appointment. I live 5 minutes away so this Pep Boys is convenient. That is why I came here in the first place. Now, let me tell why I won't be coming back. I took my car here last weekend to get my state inspection completed. They called me saying that I needed two tires, an alignment and new brakes to pass the inspection. Basically, I was like: take my car down, I'm coming to get it. Like when you have to pick up your child from school because they're misbehaving. They charged me $124 for an oil change and a half-passed (see what I did there?) inspection. Those brakes would have costed $250 and the alignment at least $90. ABSOLUTE SHAMELESS CROOKS AT PEP BOYS SHADYSIDE. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE. My husband dropped off my car to this Pep boys location for a state inspection on Dec 11. We received the car back the same day with a receipt for 84.06$ which included an emissions check, state inspection and the inspection sticker. My husband brought the car home and I drove it the next day. When I got into the car, I noticed that the inspection stickers were the old ones and were not replaced. My husband is a brand new car owner and driver and did not know to check for the stickers and I did not ask him to check when he picked it up because I assumed Pep Boys ( you would think) would know to change the stickers. They even billed for the sticker! I called Pep boys the next day and asked about the stickers. The manager Josh told me that they probably forgot and asked me to come back the next day. Since we were going on vacation, I asked if it was okay for us to bring the car back after 2 weeks to which he said yes. Two weeks later on Dec 26th, Pep boys told us that they "forgot" to do the inspection on Dec 11 and that they needed to do a full inspection AGAIN before giving us new stickers. They did say that there would be no extra charge. I then got a call from Scott from pep boys who said that the front tires tread was 2 and 3 or something and that I would need to have ALL 4 TIRES changed. I said I would not want to do that right now and he said he could not pass the car for inspection. I reminded him that the car already underwent a full inspection 2 weeks ago ( I have the paperwork from Pep boys on Dec 11 to prove it and they passed the tires and stated the treads of all 4 were 8,9,9 and 8) and I asked how come the tread numbers changed in 2 weeks? He went quiet, placed me on hold for 30 mins and then said "So we have new guys in the front and they just wrote some random numbers down on that sheet you have. They don't mean anything and they were new guys so they did not know what they were doing. In order to pass your car today, you would need to have all 4 tires changed and told me the cost was 1136.78. After this obvious blackmail, I felt trapped into agreeing coz my husband had already been to this Pep boys multiple times and we were nearing the expiry of the current stickers as we were 4 days away from the new year. I quickly called back after agreeing to the tires to ask if they could stop so I could get the car to a discount tire place and was told the car already had the old tires off and that they could not stop what they were doing. Pep boys FORGOT to give us the initial inspection stickers after passing the car two weeks ago and fraudulently had us repeat an inspection so they could swindle us and trick us into paying for new tires. AVOID THIS LOCATION/PEP BOYS ALTOGETHER. THEY ARE SHAMELESS FRAUDS WHO DO NOT CARE THAT THEY ARE RIPPING YOU OFF TO YOUR FACE. HOW CAN YOU PASS A CAR AND HAVE HIGHER TREADS TWO WEEKS AGO AND THEN TELL US OUR TIRES DO NOT MEET STANDARDS TWO WEEKS LATER??? That means your initial state inspection was not done and just fabricated by your inspectors and you billed us for it and YOU forgot to give us the stickers.  YOU should not be allowed to conduct inspections. As I read the reviews it seems as the quote times are awful. I dropped my car off at 9am for a 10:30am. For brakes and rotors ended up needing calipers which is fine but the quote time and window for appointments need to be changed. I won't have my car back until 3:30-4. For a 10:30 appointment I dropped off for at 9. Also they more than one car at the for a 8am appointment so there might be 10 8am appointments and 2 mechanics. Brought my daughters car in to inspect and fix the shaking steering wheel from suspected out of balance tire. Took over a week to inspect and tell us her wheel had broken lug stems. Charged $269 for two stems and balance. It did not fix the problem. Took it to another mechanic and he found the problem right away. Tire separation from the steel belt and it was super obvious! How can a company that replaces tires on a consistent basis not notice something so simple. I had brought in two new tires that i had purchased elsewhere to be put on my car. Tires were put on in about a hour and a half. After getting the new tires on my car started to make weird noises and the next day two luggnuts SNAPPED off on the highway. Called Pepboys they said to pay for a tow and they will see if they are at fault. Called customer service who said give them 48 hours and they will get back to me. Then the area director called and didnt answer when he was called back MULTIPLE time. Store manager said he would be reviewing the cameras and never did. Where do I start. I had to flats had my car towed there to have them replaced. Took about a week to get tires changed through a warranty I had. 7 days later picked up the car tires were in the back not the front. I had to go to valvoline to get all my air pressure the same because they didn't make sure they were all the same psi. This place had terrible customer service. They have no workers! Had to wait on a replacement as well as a brand new oil change. 9:30 appointment turned into me picking my car up at 7:00 pm right before they closed. Bought OEM parts from the manufacturer, called to get a labor only brake job quote, telling them I have my own OEM parts, and scheduled an appointment. Yet, they had alter audacity to call me the day before and cancel my appointment because they "don't work that way"!
