These people are so unprofessional I say go anywhere else that you can and I mean anywhere! I came in one day to get an inspection realized it was Sunday and they probably won't have anyone in but I tried anyway. Upon walking in I said hello to be starred at like a science project, I asked about the inspection and the female in front said no one was there. Just from her face alone I just turned around to walk out. Later that evening I called and was told by someone come in at 8am I was there at 7:55am waiting before I had to hurry to work. 8:05 the gate didn't open I called they said they don't open it because it's cold but come in and I can go back out later. Mandated unneeded repairs to pass. I brought it to another mechanic and only fixed what was needed at less than 1/3 the cost. Passed inspection. Interesting side note, when the new mechanic looked at the failed inspection report he noted that the Pep boy mechanic was not specific with what failed. From being yelled at as I drove the car into the service area to being charged for the "Pep Up Battery Service" I did not ask for, this place is bad. I very specifically stated that I did not want this add-on up charge service yet they snuck it in anyway. I've made repeated calls to Pep Boys customer service and they took down my information and created a case number but that's where it ends. They insisted someone would get back to me and no one has made any attempt to do so. Whenever I call back to follow up it's nothing but frustration dealing with what appears to be very poorly trained representatives. This is not a lot of money, but it's a matter of principle. I had my oil changed and one tire replaced on my Honda Civic. The hub cap for the wheel was not returned to me and the oil indicator was not reset. Most concerning was that the oil filter was not completely screwed in and after the service my car began leaking oil. I was nervous to come here at first because of my limited knowledge on cars, but after coming here twice, I now feel comfortable about bringing all my car issues here. I do wish they looked a little bit more inviting when I first walk through the door, but once I let them know why I'm there, they are really great about answering all of my questions and showing me what is going to get done, the breakdown of the costs, and they even set me up with an UBER one time when my car needed to stay overnight. They are very friendly, responsive and if you want they can text you when things are done. They were also good about calling my insurance and figuring out my warranty, which I appreciated. I really felt like they wanted to ease my worries, which is nice. The service guys are also really nice and answered all my questions. WILL NEVER RETURN TO PEP BOYS! Summary My interactions with the Pep Boys in Queens Village, NY were so disastrous that I will avoid the entire organization all together going forward. Here are details of my experience. On 5/15/2021 I made an appointment to have my mother's car inspected at the Pep Boys in Queens Village (208-22 Jamaica Ave Queens, NY 11428) . As my mother is aging my siblings and I are taking on more of her affairs including car maintenance. The appointment was set for 5/19/2021 @ 6:30pm. As I was coming from some distance (~2 hours) I called the store @ 1:50pm on 5/19 to confirm the appointment and was told by an associate that everything was confirmed. I was asked if I could arrive @ 6pm and I indicated that I could not based on the estimated departure/transit time from my home. After traveling 2 hours from my home I arrived at the facility @ 6:26pm and the same associate that confirmed my appointment now told me that the technician who completes this work had left for the day and there was no one else qualified to do the work there! I was completely confused by this given our earlier conversation and while the individual apologized she went on to say that the system should not have allowed me to make an appointment that late as the technicians leave early if there are no cars to work on. The individual indicated that the scheduling system is controlled by the corporate offices which doesn't always align with local store practices. While I don't completely understand, agree, or care about this I asked her whether this should have been addressed when I called to confirm. The response was basically to shift responsibility to the corporate scheduling system which is not controlled by the store. While the associate did try and call another local Pep Boys to see if they could fit me in that night (she was unsuccessful) the entire experience was a disaster and a complete waste of time. Given the distance I had to travel for a confirmed appointment and that nothing was done to make the situation right I certainly will never return to this Pep Boys again and will just avoid Pep Boys all together as this was a totally disappointing experience. I asked the associate what the process was for submitting a complaint and she indicated she wasn't aware as she had only been working there for a few months. I attempted to contact the manager of the store several times after the 19th to express my disappointment/frustration and was either put on hold or told to call back at another time so I finally gave up. In addition, I sent an email to pepsocial@pepboys.com and was told the situation would be reviewed and I would be contacted within 48 hours. It's been a week and I'm still waiting. I brought my car in on 6-29-2022 for rear breaks and left it there. When I was called to pick it up I was told the technician had a hard time removing the wheel lock on the passenger rear wheel. As it turned out I took my car home and over the 4th of July weekend I noticed the wheel lock was missing and there was damage to my rim. I brought the car back to the store on 7-5-22 and showed the employee that was there the damage to my rim. He was very nice and said that I should bring the car back the next day to show the supervisor. He also said that they would fix the rim at no cost to me. I brought my car back the next day and the supervisor/manager refused to take responsibility for the damage that they did to my rim. I will NEVER go back to this pep boys again. I happily tipped the man who installed the bracket on my car even tho it took him about 3 mins to do and I'll probably go back since he was pretty helpful with questions I had pertaining to services I want to have performed on my vehicle in upcoming weeks. I've been coming to this Pep Boys location for years, it's right in my neighborhood and I've established relationships with a lot of the staff (they even ask about my mom). My cars are leased but I like coming here VS going to Nissan. The price point is alot lower, the wait times are less and they have always worked with me in making sure to provide quality Nissan parts. On one visit, they didn't have a specific part in stock. I was sent to a Nissan parts department right on Hillside ave about 15 mins away. Not only did I get the part but I was able to come back to Pep Boys so they could install it. I've had brake pads changed, numerous tires plugged, tires replaced, synthetic oil changes and heavier under the hood work done by Pep Boys and have always left a satisfied customer (I would be happy if everything was free but Hey! thats not how these things work). They have good coupons (20% off repairs, $10 basic oil changes) on their website and Retail Me Not app. My wait times vary, depending on the work I'm getting done; it can be between 15-30 minutes to plug a tire and up to 3/4 hours for heavier work. Especially on the weekend, this place gets packed! Get here as soon as they open or atleast an hour before they close, it's less people here at those times. read more

Literally told me there would be a 2 hour wait (which I find ridiculous for a tire change). I got to this location around 8:21am , I was still waiting at 11:33am for a f*ckin tire change! I wish there was a lower rating than one star because this place is horrible. It was Saturday evening when I had a flat tire. It was on the rim and there was no other place except this place. Drove into the garage or mechanical section of Pep Boys. One of the mechanic employee told me speak to a female employee about the registering the car for repair. This employee was so rude, she actually sucked her lips and looked away. Then she points to the inside and tell me she will be with me soon while she was eating her sandwich. If she was eating lunch or on her lunch break why wasn't someone else covering for her. Or are employees allowed to eat food and walk around being rude to customers. Clearly this woman had no home training because she chewed with her mouth open yukkkkk. This place is where customer service goes to die. My God I don't know if the employees here are taught to be rude and crass because I was appalled. I was waiting in line while a customer fought with the employee then when it finally stopped I looked at my watch this wasted a good fifteen minutes of my life. Then when It was my turn instead of helping me the employee actually called the female employee to discuss the conflict that happened. My jaw dropped and I was waiting in line staring at their faces with amazement. When I was finally called the whole counter smelled like food. They had no problem eating their lunch in front you when they are suppose to be helping you. This was the second employee eating in your face. Then I filed some paper work and paid and as I was leaving the employee remembered to ask for the key. Couple minutes more I would left Pep Boys without giving them my car keys. These people were more interested in eating their lunch in your face than actually helping you. I had the good sense to call corporate office and report this store. They are not truthful, they don't acknowledge you, if they were honest about the time I could have left, took care of other errands and came back. But no they kept telling me just a few more minutes. This place is absolutely the worst. I hate going here but there is very little choice if you live in Queens village. The staff is not very helpful and they act like you are bothering them if you ask a question. The employees are more interested in socializing that helping customers. When I went back to the store, I was asking about caliper paint and a sub-woofer box and an amplifier. I was told check that aisle and the speakers are in the corner. I just left.
