Beware!!! Pep Boys tried to sale me a new Air Compressor for $1300.00. They told me it was running but then stopping (not working) after they recharged my refrigerant for $200.00. I didn't fall for it, and took my car. As I started to think about it I realized that my compressor would stop running if they left the doors closed and the car got cold. When checking a compressor you have to leave the doors open. Either they were trying to rip off a lady or they are idiots. Either way they didn't realize I do most of my maintenance and repairs and know what I am doing. Most mechanics see a blonde and they see an easy target and obviously that is what Pep Boys at this location thought. Shame on them! My car a/c is cold when I start out and freezing cold the whole time I am driving. They also upped the price on the recharge from the price advertised 139.00 and became 200.00. You are out of your mind if you go here. These people are crooks. First of all, you are getting the lowest quality parts when you get their $99 deal. Second, the pressure they will put on you to replace other parts is incredible. They told me I needed over $500 in work (when I had just come in to get the brake pads replaced under their "lifetime warranty") or that it would be unsafe for my to drive home. I said no thank you and took it to the dealer. The dealer said everything was fine and that I didn't even need the pads replaced. I guess everyone has their own experience. Mine was actually pretty good. I'm not racist or anything, but I have to honestly say that I was extremely surprised at how professional and friendly the guys were. Of course, they tried to upsell me on a few things , I would not have expected anything less from any mechanic shop ... we actually joked about it. I declined and they were totally fine with it. New to Georgia and needed an oil change. They gave me an appt first thing the next morning (which i showed up 10mins late to) and we're still able to get me in and out very fast! Three days later i came back because of a nail in a tire, they plugged it and got me back on the road within 10mins! I took my car in for overheating. They quoted me at $1700 for repair. I told them I desperately needed to get home to my parents house in Virginia ASAP, and that I only wanted the absolute necessities repaired to save time and money. They reduced the repairs to $1100. After having the car from 10 am - 6 pm, I received a call saying it could not be repaired and the top of the engine needed to be removed for further investigation (another $285). I reached out to my dad and asked that he call for further clarification on what needed to be done. Upon calling, the receptionist told my dad that the car was not fixable but he "didn't want to tell me that because I sounded upset already." My dad ended up coming up from Virginia to tow the car back home. When it came time to pay, my dad asked for the number to the corporate office to make a complaint. The receptionist said that wasn't necessary and he'd knock off 20% of the cost. All in all, we ended up paying $950 for pure investigation of the problem and no resolution. AVOID! This place is exactly what you want to avoid. Employees are unprofessional, prices are outrageous, quality is poor and nobody that works there seems to care. I've contacted management, tried to work out problems, but nothing. I had service approximately 3 months ago and the squeaky brakes and rusty/new rotors are about due for service. Not to mention, that the employees smeared grease and oil all over the interior of my vehicle..... and they didn't care or try to fix it after several weeks. I went in this morning, because my brakes had been making a grinding noise for the past 2 weeks. They inspected my car & informed me that I did not need to buy new brake pads. The ones on my car were not ceramic, causing the noise, but they were not causing any damage to my vehicle and were no where close to being worn out. Run. Run very very very far away. I am actually scared that places like this exist out there in the world. #1 - Went to local shop 'A' (not Just Brakes) for a problem with brake. They quoted high 370s to replace a caliper. I thought this was too expensive and called around to compare prices. I called Just Brakes and they said 250$ out the door over the phone. #2 Went to Just Brakes and told them to replace the caliper and that's it. After 3 days, and 1200$ later, i have a completely new brake system. While I was there I heard 3 customers complain to them to stop checking everything in their car and that nothing was wrong with their system except brakes. Seems everybody knows about this place. Again.....I know it's tough....but run, run run run run far far far away. You have been warned. read more

I agree with the other reviews that it's unlikely that you can get pads replaced for the coupon price. I ended up spending $400 on pads and rotors for the back only but I did agreed to the work. They were friendly I didn't feel like was taken advantage of but perhaps paid more than I could have if I shopped around. read more

AVOID AVOID AVOID !!! those guys need to be shut down asap. I will start this lengthy review by describing the two employees I dealt with as Gangster #1 and Gangster #2 (denoted G1 and G2, respectively). As per their name tags, G1 and G2 are both "mechanics"... The reason of my visit to Just Brakes was pretty standard, I needed to change the rotors/ brake pads on my back wheels. As soon as I got there, I was told take my car behind and wait for G1 to diagnose it. At my greatest surprise, and perhaps because of his expertise in automobile, G1 looks at my car for a split second only. Without even getting under the car or going around it he says " Yo man! that car man! no safe dawg! I wouldn't drive it around! you need to change ALL FOUR ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS". Note that I was extremely impressed with G1's professionalism with the client as well as his ability to reach that detailed of diagnostic given the time spent analyzing my car. Sheer talent! G1 pursues his professional duty by turning to his colleague and says " YO G2! can you get my man a quote for 4 rotors and 4 pads!!??". G2 pulls off his sophisticated computer device as he was smoking his cigarette (why the hell not smoking on the job), and says "that'll be $1,400". at this point, my anger turned into amusement. Noticing my facial expression G2 adds " but you know ... we can only change the back rotors and pads if you prefer! in that case you'd be paying 600 dollars!". "Wow what a great deal" I am thinking. No kidding, this gifted young G1 mechanic laying eyes on my car (forgot to mention he was also smoking a cigarette), and using his super powers to guess I needed a $1,200 dollars repair. Then added to this, G2 openly lying to me and noticing I wasn't baiting, suddenly offers the right service. Amazing.... but unfortunately, I am just an average Joe and decided I couldn't afford such luxurious services at the time. I decided to take my car to another garage. The diagnostic there was - front pad used up 10% (so 90% away from being fully used up and dangerous to drive, Dawg) -back pads and rotors need change (as I already knew) - cost to repair was 400 dollars (so about 200 cheaper than the G shop (aka Just Brakes). Bottom line, and in all seriousness, I would recommend to anyone to stay as far as possible away from the G shop. Just Brake = Just Stay Away. Thanks. read more

This place was awesome when it was still Just Brakes. I took my car there whenever I needed an oil change or even something more serious, and I always received great customer service. Who knows what happened when it was bought by Pep Boys, but we will never be back. We dropped off my car for a basic oil change and were told it would be about 45 minutes. We said no problem and went to wait at the Dunkin' Donuts next door with the assurance that they would call us when it was ready. Two hours later, after having seen a couple of cars come in after us and be serviced, we walked back to check on the status and were informed that it was ready, but they had forgotten to call. Thank goodness the manager checked out the car first, as he must have seen something wrong and went to ask if the oil change had actually been done. We then found out that it had not. And yet the invoice was certainly waiting for us when we walked back over. The manager was nice and apologetic. But whether it was intentional or just an extreme oversight, if the manager hadn't double-checked, we would've been charged for work that was not performed. Even assuming it was some bizarre mistake and not intentional, that kind of negligence is absolutely unacceptable. read more

1st time taking my 6 year old car for brake work. The customer service was superb. Employees were very friendly and knowledgeable. They offered extra work without any added pressure, even telling me what wasn't necessary. I also got the fuel system cleaned and flushed. The next few tanks of gas will tell if that was worth it. This place is a fucking joke. Buckle up if you're in for a tragic read about this awful establishment. Our SUV broke down while traveling through Atlanta and this store was the only open option within our area. By default we took it to them and trusted them to take care of us. The entire ordeal took 4 days. 4 days. That wouldn't have been bad if they had told us it would've take awhile. Instead, every day we checked in were were told it would be ready "later that day". We checked in and out of a hotel every night for four nights. With two dogs. While removing the alternator that had broke- they broke something else. Then while removing it, they ripped out the wiring harness that secured it. They ordered a replacement FROM EBAY and still charged us the part cost. Gave us a "6 month warranty" on the 'new' alternator, and we went on our way. Returned home and the Check Engine light was already on. After two days, every light on the vehicle was flickering. We called our mechanic and he checked it out. Surprise, the alternator is bad. Well technically the "voltage regulator" inside the alternator is bad. Causing the alternator to not function correctly. Called our neighborhood PepBoys because who the fuck would want to drive 4 hours to this one and have to deal with their ignorance? Our neighborhood pepboys said they can test the alternator and replace if it's bad, but the voltage regulator might not show up as an issue on their test. The alternator has to fail the test for me to get a refund and replacement. They also said they would never have taken the steps this location did. That those decisions were a "personal choice" of the mechanic and is not covered by them as a company. As I said, this place is a joke. Do not take your vehicle there for serious problems unless you want to lose a lot of money. read more

I got a nail in my tire that couldn't be patched. I had only bought the tire a few months ago from the pep boys down the street. Instead of taking advantage of my obvious lack of mechanical knowledge, Johnny gave me a great deal, since I had just bought the tire from Pep Boys months before. On top of all that, he was extremely kind and we had a great conversation while mechanics fixed my car in a very timely manner. Do not go here. On March 1 2015, I dropped my truck off to get serviced and when I returned to pick it up, I witnessed a technician out on Cobb Parkway with my truck giving a motorist a jump. And on top of that, when I left with my truck I the steering wheel was shaking violently. I immediately went back; they inspected it and tried to tell me something was wrong with my rear wheel. I said no and had them remount the tires. Come to find out, the tech didn't tighten the lugs on my front tires all the way. Be very careful trusting these people. They have great customer service skills to "sell" the job, over $800.00 in my case, but they were not equipped to complete the job correctly. Our vehicle was not drivable afterwards and when I went back to complain they completely blew me off. I told that I did, having just had the car inspected by an independent mechanic. He asked me twice if I could come in the next morning for an inspection. Refused to give me a quote. I needed new rear brakes so I called around and Just Brakes had by far the best prices, especially with the online coupon. I assumed that they're not the top of the line brakes for this deal, but brakes are an every other year or so necessity regardless. Went inside and the manager was friendly. There was a line but I wasn't in a huge hurry anyway. When my car went back, the main technician gave it a complete once over, which I wasn't expecting, even to the point that I was told my cabin air filter was dirty (not something I often check). Anyway, I loved the fact that I was brought back and could see everything for myself. I know cars and how to do the stuff, but being new to the area I don't have the place or the tools with which to do the work. I was able to approve everything I was charged for individually. I knew I'd need new rear brakes and the rotors turned, and that's what I got. I was offered new rotors and another brake flush (something every mechanic shop pushes, so I wasn't surprised), but I was able to decline without a lot of pressure. All in all, I spent right at what I thought I would and everyone was friendly. If I need brakes put on again and I don't have the opportunity, I'd definitely go back. read more

Terrible service. I dont see the point on having appointments if you will get your cars 6 hrs later! I took my car at 11;30 am (30 mins before my appointment and got a handful of attitude by one of the mechanics including the person that helped me on the front desk. They asked if I came with patience because my car was being squeeze into their schedule and then I said why if i already have a 12 pm appointment he said I know but im just saying its going to be a while ! I asked my daughter to pick me up (IT WAS A SIMPLE OIL CHANGE). I asked the guy at the front desk if they will call me he said we will text u. 4 hrs later I ahd to call and they said my car wasnt ready so at 6 pm I decided to just go. I went and there was a different guy at the front desk and said my car was out there for a while and was wondering if somebody was picking it up I told him no one notified me he said another person texted me I confirmed my # and it was the same one they had in the system and I never did get a text. I missed two appointments because of this. He apologized and gave me a coupon. But the service here sucks! read more

I called about the $99 dollar special on the front pads and reconditioning the rotors. I came in on 14 February 2017 with enough money to cover the cost. After I arrived, John did a inspection on the brake system and told / and showed me everything that was wrong. I like that he pointed out every on the car so I can see it myself. I am a disable Army veteran with limited income and didn't have nearly enough to cover everything. He also helped me out with another repair and didn't charge me. He had other customers and was the only one there. So for him to take the time to do that for me show that he care about his customer. He also discounted the price in order to fit it with my small budget. I will definitely be back for the other services and would recommend my friends and family.
