Beware of this place. Lazy people. Lazy manager. Faulty parts. Charging you more than parts. I brought my car in July 12,2025 and it stayed overnight for - 4 new tires, alignment, and new front brake pads. For all of this they charged me $956. Fast forward to now, for the last 2 weeks my car has been making a terrible noise when braking, having hard time coming to a full stop, and a jumpy brake pedal when I press down with my foot. Called Pep Boys and told them what is going on and they told me to bring it in. I bring my car in over the weekend (9.6.25) and when speaking to Erwin and Joshua (the manager) they said they would test drive it and see what the problem was. I stayed for about 15 minutes while they did the test drive (an older man and younger woman test drove it separately) and they both claimed they heard no noise and that the brakes felt fine. I kept pressing because I could clearly hear the noise and feel the jumpy brake pads. Joshua the manager kept saying "oh it's the brake pads, it's the brake pads, we will put new ones on". I was confused because I had originally came in for NEW brake pads back in July. After my dad had asked them to remove the tire, the older gentleman who test drove my car started to give my dad and I attitude and he kept asking why we wanted the tire off. My dad checked the brake pads and rotors and kept pressing why I would need new brake pads. Joshua (the manager) admitted that they had put the wrong brake pads (ceramic) and AUTHORIZED it and didn't even re-surface the rotors back in July. So between July 12-September 6 I was driving on FAULTY brakes which could have damaged my rotors and more. After further discussion and agreeing to fix it, I left my car overnight. When I went to pick my car up on Sunday 9.7.25, I had been dropped off and was about to walk into the store and Joshua was right by the door waiting for me and quickly handed me my keys. I thought this was very strange and sketchy of them. I then asked for paperwork (which I had to sign for) so I'm not sure why he was rushing me off the lot. Joshua is a lazy and sketchy manager. Do not come here unless you know how to stand your ground and see through the B.S. Overall, car is fixed. Haven't heard the noise and brakes feel better. All because they had put the wrong brake pads and were too lazy to resurface the rotors. Good luck! read more

Hello everyone, I j wanted to share my experience at this pep boys in Tujunga. The girl cashier in the mornings is very rude. She has an attitude for no reason. she's lucky I'm a nice person and I didn't drag her outside. Next I've noticed they charged me $39.99 for each windshield wipe. so it was $80.00 plus tax and added a service fee for the installment. Is this the normal charge ? or did they get over on me because I'm a woman? Also I've been there before for an oil change. I waited for hours for a simple oil Change. They told me I'd need an oil plug from another pep boys shop that carries the plug so that's why it's taking so long. I believe the plug never came and they just gave up and sent me home because my oil was leaking. I will never go back to this pep boys and if they'd like to refund me my $39.99 go for it. read more

Stupid experience and a waste of time. Ordered tires and they arrived. Girl in the front said they have a plastic part that won't allow the tire to scratch the rim when changing it. Double checked with her manager said it was all good. Made me drive ALL the way home just to call me back and tell me they can't do it and they don't have the plastic piece. As someone who works in customer service this was ridiculous and a waste of both my time and theirs. Didn't even apologize or offer any type of help just said oh well no. I got new tires and an alignment this weekend. Ordered the services online and paid exactly what was quoted on the site. Alignment was done well and the Goodyear Assurance Comfortdrive tires are an amazing upgrade to the tires that came with my car. I've never had any issues with this location, been a customer for many years. I'm very thankful they are in the area, they always come through. Wait time was very reasonable, waiting room was clean, coffee machine was working. Nothing to complain about here! read more

I went in because I needed new tires and it was the closest. I hadn't gone here yet but this is now my go to spot for car maintenance! The tires were a sensible price. The lady in the front was polite and made conversation with me while I waited. I was also met with other employees, I believe it was the assistant manager and manager. Polite people and informed me of the specificities. It took about an hour to forty-five minutes. I have brought multiple cars here over the years for tires but will not any longer. I went yesterday and was given a choice of a Michelin or Pirelli tire for my vehicle. I was told that the price difference was small and therefore they would give me the "better" Pirelli tire for the same price as the Michelin. When they sent me the invoice to pay, there was no discount so I called another Pep Boys location to check if the prices were in fact quite similar. It turns out the Michelin set of tires was actually $500 cheaper at another Pep Boys location only 7 miles away. So not only did they not honor a price adjustment, they lied and tried to sell me a much more expensive tire than I requested. I will not be bringing any vehicles here again. read more

Came in to get a nail/screw patch. Store was still open and 25 minutes to closing time and they didn't offer good Customer Service. Employee or Manager at desk said they couldn't do it. The excuse was that they had more work, but when i went by service area there was a guy that was free, not doing repairs. The repair was no more than15 minutes and they could have made a Customer Happy, but like many places, service sucks. The one other time, i've been to location, I've noticed the Service guys have better Customer Service than the Sales guys inside. Good thing there is a small shop up the street that will help me. I went to another tire service shop about a mile and quarter away from this Pep Boys on a Thursday after work, was told that I should come back on Saturday because they were too busy. So I made an appointment and went back, then I was told they were still too busy, and to come back on Sunday. Ain't no way. I called this Pep Boys and the young lady said to come on over. I went and waited about 20 minutes from the time I arrived to the time I drove away with a new tire installed. I don't get why the low reviews were posted here, but Pep Boys just earned a loyal customer today. Icing on the cake. They even charged a few bucks less than the other place tried to charge me. Pep Boys was my regular car place until today. One person: Heriberto Ibarra, has lost not only my business, but my kids' father's business (also a regular customer) with his abominable lack of service. I blew a tire just before 5:30, and was happy I was only a block away. Unfortunately, they didn't have a tire that would fit my car. (Not the reason for the 1 star - and I know they can't manufacture a tire out of thin air). The reason for the 1 star was what happened afterward. I have to get my daughter to school really early tomorrow, so I asked the manager, if he could recommend a place. He said American Tire up the road. I pulled it up on my phone, and there were tons of results for both American Tire and America's Tire. I showed him my phone and asked him which one, and he just said yes. I tried American Tire and put in my zip code. The nearest one that came up was 20 minutes away in Glendale. My car wasn't going to make it. When I pointed out it was in Glendale, he just told me, "Yeah. It's considered Glendale up there." I mentioned the 20 mins, and he said it could take 20 mins. to get there. I was confused, as he said it was right up the road. I showed him my phone again to show him it wasn't on Foothill and wasn't right up the road and asked him to point out the place he meant out of the myriad results that had popped up. He just said that was the place and he could have the tire here at 11:45 and change it then, which he knew wasn't an option with my kids. I reminded him that wasn't an option and he told me he couldn't do anything else for me. I walked out of there and let him know he had lost my regular business and I would be reviewing. In the parking lot, I called the place Heriberto Ibarra insisted was the place right up the road and confirmed it wasn't on Foothill, but on the corner of Glendale Blvd. and Los Feliz, indeed 20 minutes away, but nowhere near Pep Boys in Tujunga. I marched back in and let him know in no uncertain terms this was not the place on Foothill up the road and I needed him to help me find the place, as it was dire I get a new tire tonight. His response was that he would help me if I had been nice, but I was yelling, so he didn't have to help me. I replied that I had been nice and he had refused to help, so now my voice was raised out of desperation. He told me he had the right to refuse service to anyone, as if that was a threat. I agreed with him that was his right, as was mine to give him a 1 star review. His response? I'm not paraphrasing. "That doesn't hurt me. That only hurts the company." My jaw about dropped at his lack of concern for anyone but himself. I asked the mechanic who had recently come out of the garage if he knew a nearby place, but he just pointed to Heriberto and said "He's the boss." Heriberto replied, "Thank you," as if this was a power struggle, and not about helping a customer. I put my phone in front of him again, and said, " Then would you please tell me which of these places is the one up the road. I need a tire tonight." He finally scrolled through my Google search and found one that wasn't American Tires or America's Tires, but American Tire DEPOT. It was that missing Depot that caused the confusion (and the place to populate low down in the search). Fine. Everyone makes mistakes. Also not the reason for the 1 star. Heriberto Ibarra's horrendous attitude, sheer refusal to help, and then gaslighting are. The entire time, the only muscles Heriberto Ibarra moved were in his mouth. He made no real attempt to help until the very end after I made it clear I wasn't going away. I believe he only helped to get me to go away. But I ended up at American Tire Depot, which earned a 5 star review, my loyalty, as well as my kids' father's business. Check them out at 3445 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta. This Pep Boys tried to defraud me out of about $120, using shady and illegal business practices. I called this morning because I saw a deal on their website. Spoke to a salesperson about the deal but 3 get 1 free plus free installation on a specific brand of tire. Knowing the brand I asked for this special on my size tires. They said they weren't on that special, and I wouldn't be able to get the free installation (I would get the buy 3 get 1 free). I asked them for the free installation too. She said she couldn't do that. I asked to speak to the manager. She said he wasn't there, but there was someone else I could speak to. I spoke to another salesperson that said he would get me the free installation too. He said just make sure to come in soon. I told him I would be on my way shortly. Jumped in my car and stopped at another tire shop I've used before on my way there. Since I really only needed two tires, I asked the this other guy for only 2 tires for about $150. He said the best price he had was $200. I told him the price I was offered at Pep Boys and he said it was a great deal. I proceeded on to Pep Boys. I got to Pep Boys and both salespeople I spoke to were at the counter. I informed them of who I am and the male salesperson said he would handle it. He wrote the the tire size on quote sheet, from my name, my phone number, and asked for my keys. He said it would be done in about an hour. He never had me sign an estimate sheet prior to doing the work. I take a walk and come back in an hour. The tires are installed. I walk in and they said there is a problem. They can't give me free installation. They asked if I wanted my tires reinstalled. I told them not to touch my car again. The manager, who I was told wasn't there, is all of a sudden there. I asked how long he had been there and he said all morning. Really? He said there is nothing he could do to get me free installation. I told him that his salesperson entered into a verbal contact with me and expect them to uphold the deal. The manager had every opportunity prior to the tires being completely installed to tell me they can't do free installation. It should have been said over the phone, or at latest when I brought my car in, but even after bringing my car in is to late. In fact, I would have never come to this store if they didn't agree to free installation. The manager kept claiming there was nothing he could do. I asked him to call his district manager and he refused saying there is nothing the district manager could do. I had to argue with the manager for almost 30 minutes and not until I called my attorney was he willing to honor the deal that was made. To me, it felt like this is a common trick they use to defraud people out of more money. Watch out if they claim they will give you a special price. Had I not been adamant about Pep Boys entering into a verbal contact and that they were trying to commit a fraud against me. They would have never caved and made good on our verbal contract. Unfortunately this is one of those times that I write a bad review. I felt the tire mechanic person is deceitful at best and I've had that experience more than once. Allow me to go back a little. This review covers a time frame and three experiences as I didn't see the connection till the 3rd. First experience, took my car in last year for tire repair. The mechanic who seemed kinda rude came to the front and told me that he couldn't take the tire off because they would fall apart and refused. Said I had to buy new. Not caring too much about expense I gave him the go ahead. Didn't read into much tho. Although he was adamant I needed four, not just the one. One is what I got. Sometime after I took my mothers car in and was told the same, that I need new because the tires would break apart if removed. Same attitude. Seemed odd to hear the "tire will fall apart" excuse twice considering I've never heard of that. Took it to another local private tire shop and it was fixed immediately. No falling apart, no new tire. Still riding on that tire currently. Finally fast forward to this past April maybe and I took my same car that I got 1 tire on just to have it inspected prior to a road trip. Same grumpy dude told me I needed 4 new tires. Since I had just purchased from them previously it didn't seem likely they all needed replaced. As I was scheduled for Toyota service I waited and had them look. 3 tires had 15k left and the newer one obviously had much more. Drove to Mexico, Santa Barbara, work and back and many many more miles since then and the tires are still good, although they are closer to needing replaced. I understand commission or trying to make money. But when you lie too often, you forget your own lies. A brand new tire purchased a year or so before was said to bad and the three others that he told me the first and 2 times needed to be replaced. Can't get back trust. My experiences here are disappointing. Support local tire shops. There's at least 3 non franchised type places that need customers. Pep Boys clearly doesn't. read more

went there today to get a tire patch August 12 around 1135. They tried the you need new tires with me. The tire I needed patch is brand new. The tire on the opposite side probably needs replacing. They told me that they can't that I need to new rare tires. The one that needs patching is brand new with under 3000 miles on it. After my car is on the rack they pull the mechanic off to have him do an alignment. 1 hour my car sat on the rack when he could have just put oil in before doing the alignment and been done with it But no make me and my kid wait instead. I took my 2015 Camaro to have the front brakes changed after the inspection was done, I was told I needed back brakes and a back tire. I Paid 917.00 in which I thought was kind of expensive but didn't give it a 2nd thought to get a 2nd opinion because I'm a female who knows very little about cars and have taken my cars many times to this location so I trusted that my car was in good hands. About 2 months later I took my car to a tire shop and bought 3 new tires. The technician asked me if I was aware that there was a different size tire that Pepboys put on my car . After confirming it was the wrong tire, I went to Pepboys to see what could be done, and the service desk clerk was the one who went out to my car and CONFIRMED that it was the wrong sized tire I asked for my money back, and I was told I had to give the tire back. They didn't have my tire in stock. How was I supposed to do that ? I was also upset because the mechanic and the desk clerk or cashier were talking in Spanish, and it was very unprofessional and rude. The mechanic was saying in a different language. I understood what was being said. I'm a female who knows very little about cars and I have taken my cars many times to this location. I didn't appreciate the treatment I received that day. I have gone to Pepboys for many years and never had this type of customer service from them. My issue has not been resolved, nor have I been contacted til this day regarding this incident. Over the years the employees have been nice and the service reliable. The coupons are nice too. But recently there's been a big change for the worst that may be due to corporate greed and the new CEO. A job that was estimated to take 1 hour took 3 and while I waited in the customer waiting room there was no heat, no tv, no coffee. They were waiting on a part because now there is no car for Pep Boys to bring the part so they have to wait until it's delivered. The employee morale has suffered as well as the customer's morale! But short term profits are probably up for the corporation and out of that they pay their CEO his millions and maybe wait until the company folds! "And another one bites the dust" read more

I took my truck in at the end of February 2022, because my truck was making screeching sounds every time I braked. I figured the brakes were worn so I took it in to pep boys. They did a diagnostic scan to see what the issue was. So I leave my truck there and am told me they'll call when they find the problem, to give me an estimate of how much it's going to cost for a repair. I get a call a couples hours later and they tell me it's the front brake pads and rotors. They charge me $650 just to have the front brakes replaced. I say okay do the work. I pay get my truck and a printout of what they did. A few months later.. my brakes are screeching again. I take it back in and they tell me it's probably just dust. So I trust them and leave my truck there so they can take a look at it and fix the issue. They call me an hour later and tell me it was just dust. I believe them and take my truck home thinking the issue is fixed. Not the case. A week later my brakes are still screeching!! I'm like seriously?? This is NOT just dust. So I call them and tell them they need to fix my truck the next time I bring it in or I'm gonna have to file a formal complaint. So I bring it in again.. and they say it's the calipers and they tried to charge me for them!!! lol They couldn't tell me that initially?? And the only reason the calipers were damaged, was because when they initially changed out my rotors and brakes they didn't know the calipers were worn! Yet they did a full diagnostic check and they didn't notice?? Needless to say, I filed a written complaint online to corporate and they contacted the shop. And when I went back for a FOURTH TIME, that's the only reason the managers did anything, because I threatened to take legal action if they didn't fix the issue or refund me my money! I won't be coming back to pep boys ever again. I don't trust them to provide a good service or take responsibility for their actions when something is clearly their fault. read more

These guys are not mechanics. They are salesmen that lure you in with coupons that they won't apply. They upsell you on things you don't need. They overcharge and under deliver. I have had my car back 4 times now. 3 for the same problem they charged a ridiculous price for but didn't actually fix and now a 4th time because they screwed up something unrelated and did major damage to my car. I'm sure I'll get an auto reply from their corporate offices that's all just for show like all the comments below have stated. Can't warn you enough to stay away. read more

Their customer service called me asking if everything was ok now that I spoke to the area manager I said no it's worse now. Well he closed the file and Now the regional manager will have to reopen the file. Their customer service department sent a note to the regional manager about a month ago and I still have no response. I wouldn't be surprised if Pepboys turns into the next Circuit City, Toys R Us or Radio Shack. Well I wouldn't miss them either. I would give zero stars if that was an option. Our 2017 Hundai Elantra showed a check engine light and when I arrived at Pep Boys I presented the printout of the free Auto zone scan that showed a P301 error code (spark plug misfiring on first coil). After saying they don't like the Auto Zone scans, they charged me $99 to tell me the exact same thing...P301 error code. No information on the condition of the spark plugs, the coils, and the fuel injectors (the usual suspects when there is a P301 error code). They then said they didn't see anything wrong but went on to suggest I change the first spark plug and first coil at a cost of 600+. Why am I being told to spend $600+ if they see nothing wrong? The service woman then asked me if while I was at it, did I want to change all the coils...WTF??? Did you catch the first part? They didn't see anything wrong... I asked if they could just change the first spark plug as a precaution (since that is where the misfire occurred). They still hadn't explained why the error code showed up in the first place. Their price quote to change that single spark plug was $400. At that point I had a sick feeling in my gut (which I always listen to) and asked them to just return my car to me. I then went down the street to Valley Auto Repair and Alignment (7255 Foothill Blvd (818) 875-4325. There I met Armen, the owner. Very kind and welcoming first of all. Did he suggest $ 600+ repairs? No. He charged me $62 for 30 min of diagnostics and informed me of the following: (1) the car now appeared to be running fine, (2) the scan showed the single error code from the day before but no other error codes and that this indicated to him that the misfire may have been an singular weird incident; (3) his physical inspection revealed the spark plugs and fuel injectors were fine; (4) that he would suggest waiting on changing the spark plugs as they were not due for replacement for another 50,000 miles and they looked fine. (5) Finally , he suggested I switch the first and second coil and then if the error code came up again for the coil in that new location, then we would know the coil was bad; Thank you Armen, good riddance Pep Boys! read more

This shop is not worth it. Don't bother making an appointment, they don't mean anything. The manager is watching YouTube. If you went there before they probably can't find your account. My husband and I have taken our cars to Pep Boys for many years and have always received great customer service and quality work. A couple of weeks ago I woke up to a very low tire. It was so low that I was concerned it needed repair or to be replaced. I took it in and spoke with Joshua. He said I could either leave the car there and wait or come back in an hour. I chose to come back in an hour. When I walked in Joshua greeted me and listened to my concern. About 30 minutes later he came back to me and told me the tire was perfectly fine but all my tires did need air. After assuring me that all was good he told me there was no charge. How does this place only have 3 stars?! I know it's a pain taking your car in for maintenance but I promise if you come here and ask for Ken you will not be disappointed. I am far away from home and needed a quick tire repair and synthetic oil change. Not only did the shop take care of me in a timely manner (which was awesome, I have a small baby whom I left with my parents to come to this impromptu appointment), but their prices are very competitive and fair. I left extremely happy and grateful for such a positive experience with these gentleman. I will definitely be back and encourage you to experience service here, as well. Thank you! read more
