I bought some wheels from here online and could not even check out without also paying for new lug nuts and a TPMS rebuild kit. Since I was getting the wheels from here I decided to have them installed as well. I scheduled an appointment online. The day of the appointment I called ahead to confirm the wheels had arrived and my appointment time. I was assured all was well. I waited until my scheduled appointment time and arrived 10 minutes early to be told that I would have to wait TWO HOURS for a 30 minute service of having the wheels installed! I asked if I could come back later when they were ready and was told it would be that long no matter what. And the clerk made it a point to ridicule me and belittle me for suggesting that this job could be done in less than two hours. He even asked me if I wanted to work there or some such since I was so good and fast! I told him that I was not that fast as this is not my line of work but other professionals are that fast. I paid for the wheels and went to Discount Tire with NO APPOINTMENT. They got the 30 minute job done after about a 45 minute wait AND saved me a lot of money because the extra parts I was required to purchase to checkout online were not even needed! So, I got better, faster, and cheaper service some place else. I do NOT plan to return unless it is my only choice remaining. read more

Do not use this place. The staff have made two appointments they did not honor. Tried telling me the same job they did last time in less than hour would take them five hours. I drove a whole hour after working an eight hour shift and let them know this when I made the appointment and they still blew it off. read more

This is the worst Pep Boys I have ever been to. There is NO point to their appointments. I made one for 9 am, and my oil change was not done until 10:30. What is the point of the appointment if it's first come first serve when I get there? These guys are borderline creepy, and I feel like I am taken advantage of, considering I know nothing about cars. I have no rating. At 72 and living on retirement my battery light came on. Detoured from church to O'Reilly's where I was told the battery was fine, alternator was bad. The only place open was PEPBOYS. It seems that could not check the alternator without installing a new battery. Not one time was I told we have the following batteries which do you want. The same with the alternators. After a 5 hour wait, I received a bill for close to 600 dollars. I had to ask for the old battery and stopped on the way home at Auto Zone to have them check it for a third opinion. The battery is good! Called the corporate office this morning and was told the complaint was filed but nothing would happen until tomorrow! They have already called and told me to come back they will put the old battery back in and refund my money. Honestly, I am afraid to go back worried about what they might do to the battery or my car. Never mentioned the difference in alternator prices! I feel that they were taking advantage of my because I was a female and because of my age. we have had a couple of issues with our cars that this "wonderful" place has not been able to help us with. First of all, we have a problem maintaining water in the car. We took it in and they could not find anything wrong with it. So now we have to add water every other day because the mechanic can't find anything wrong. Next, we had to have an alternator replaced for $800. The same night we get it back, it breaks down. We towed it in and guess what? It's the alternator. They said they must have put a bad one in. Seriously? Now, one week after that the car breaks down again. Timing belt $1500 but it may be as much as $4000. They don't know until they replace the timing belt. It's been sitting in their garage since last Wednesday, and today is Monday. Hello? We kind of need this car working. I'd like to give this place a negative rating if I could!!! read more

Do not, under any circumstances, go to this Pep Boys. I have been to ones outside of Waco and have been pleased but this one is awful. The employees ignore the customers. They don't even say "Hey, sorry we can't get our act together. We'll be with you as soon as possible." I have had a tire checked by them (I thought it had a leak) only to be shown the next day by a different company that the tire was about to pop. They have told me that the wait for a tire change would be over an hour when there were two cars in the garage and no one working. One time they changed my oil but had to wait for one man to rotate the tires because he was "the only qualified man". After taking more than 30 minutes just for the oil change and waiting more than 15 minutes for the tire rotation, I told them to forget the rotation because I needed to leave. By the way, rotating tires isn't THAT hard. Anyone who works at a car garage should know how to change oil, rotate tires, and check a battery. I would rather spend twice as much at a different store than go back to Pep Boys. read more

I have been servicing my 2008 Saturn Vue at the Waco Location for several years. Most of the time I have used the online appointment process and it has worked well. They have always treated me fairly and have serviced my car (oil changes, tire replacements) in an affordable and timely manner. Some days they are busier than others and when I stay and wait on the vehicle, I continually check on its progress. They have always come to me in the store or waiting area when my vehicle was ready. I'm not saying that they are perfect and super fast because there is some room for speed improvements, hence the 4 stars. read more

They only get 1 star because Yelp is requiring me to do so, otherwise they would get negative. We had a tire blow out on the highway, and brought it in to this location to be fixed so we could back on the road. We were told it would take an hour, so we walk to a store nearby. Walked back an hour later and noticed that our car hadn't moved from where we left it (donut and all). Fast forward to having waited for 3 HOURS. By that point, customers are gathered at the front, with PB employees in the garage watching us stare at them and continuing to ignore us. Once we finally got someone to start checking customers out, the PB employee actually had an attitude! No apologies, no consideration for people's time or situation. I was sickened by this experience, and will never set foot in a Pep Boys again. read more

This has to be the worst automotive service place I've even been to. First I called at 8:30am to check if they had an open slot for me to drop off my car to get the headlights defogged and my brakes looked at. Took them almost 10 minutes to answer the phone. Guy tells me I can drop it off anytime. I get there around 11:00 and was pleasantly greeted but it then takes him almost 30 minutes to fill out the paperwork for my car. I was almost late for my movie (first world problems). He tells me it takes 45 minutes per headlight and that i should expect the car done around 2:00. I tell him ok, hand him the keys and leave. I watch my movie, which let out around 3:15 and since I had my phone off I went back to the shop only to find out that my car was no where close to being done and that i should go home and wait for them to call. I so home and I wait (played video games). Around 5:30 I still hadn't gotten a call so I call them. Another 10 minutes on hold and I finally get someone. I tell the guy who i am and which car is mine and he tells me that it was done a little while ago. I go to get my car and there is no one around to help. I mean not a soul. Customers are asking each other if they have seen anyone and then one guy pops in from the garage, takes one look at the line of customers and runs back into the garage. another 20 minutes go by with employees walking by the waiting room not asking anything until another guy that i recognized from earlier in the day walks by and I ask him about my car. He clicks a few buttons and voila!!!! I get my car. Headlights look ok, no great and they didn't even care to check out my brakes. This was my first time ever going to Pep Boys and I will not use this franchise again anywhere on planet Earth. I have never been so disgusted with a garage in my life. These people should be ashamed. The only reason you should go here is to buy supplies. If you are taking your vehicle here for service you better be pushing it and the rest of the town better be on fire. read more

I brought my car in for a HEAT problem diagnostic as a prerequisite for work to be done. 30 minutes later, I get a call saying I don't owe anything because they couldn't do the job and that I need freon for my AC. The AC was working fine earlier. Now I'm short hundreds of dollars worth of freon! Mind you I had HEAT problems. They lied several times as to what happened to my freon. This is the 2nd time I've had an issue with pep boys. There wont be a third time. Additionally their store has old and overpriced stock that I would only purchase because of my discount. An employee even told me how ridiculous the store was. When your employees don't condone your business tactics, that's definitely a sign. read more

On or around August 2, 2011 I had to have 2 tires replaced by Pep Boys in Waco Texas. They had finished with my car after hours, and i left around 9:30 PM. I could tell the guys working in the shop was in a hurry to get us out, and did very shoddy work. They stripped my new lug nuts. My wife and I got about a block away crossing Franklin Ave. and the tire fell off. I being in a wheelchair had to put the tire back on and all the lug nuts were so loose I tried to pull across the street into Wal-Mart an another tire fell off. I could not keep the lug nuts tight. I nursed the car back to the Waco VA where I am an impatient till Sept, 2011.I am unable to come home due to our rental house not being wheelchair accessible. My wife dropped me off at the Waco VA, and headed home. When she got around Riesel the motor blew up because the oil pan was damaged during the fall of the tire coming off. My wife had to then call our landlord to help her. They are an elderly couple in their late 70's. i was unable to help her, and it makes me feels helpless. My wife and that elderly couple sat on the dark highway, and very dangerous highway to wait for a tow truck. They waited 2.5 hours. That cost 75.00 for the tow of a car that did not have any problems till after leaving Pep Boys that evening. I got a hold of pep Boys told them what happened, and they towed the car back to their shop in Waco Texas, and assured me that they would fix my car. They have had nearly a month. Today i find out by calling everyday to them they are not going to fix it.They would never keep me up to date on this matter. i had to chase the store manager down at least 3 times a week. He seem to be busy, out to lunch, off for the day and so on. Now they want me to pick up my car or they are going to charge storage fees. they will put my car out on the parking lot unsecured and will not be responsible for it.How fair is this? I almost lost my life fighting for this country, and i am treated like dirt by Pep Boys and they will not keep up to their part. My wife cleans houses and this was the only car we had. She has no way to clean a house, take me to the Dr at Waco or Temple VA.I have grand Mal Seizures due to my injury and if I come home and have a seizure she has no way to go to the ER for me.I will have to take a taxi back home. At the moment we are so strapped for cash that I can't even afford a tow truck to pick up my car. I am living at the Waco VA till we get moved into a house that is wheelchair accessible. We are so broke that my wife has to eat at our landlords' house because we could not afford food this month with buying the 2 new tires from Pep Boys. Ever since I have gotten back from Iraq life has been this up hill battle that i can't win. The stress as been so bad that i have been in the VA hospital 4 times for depression. I am stuck in a wheelchair, and I feel America has forgotten what we as solider lost to go to the Middle East to help America stay free. read more

I went to get a flat fixed yesterday. I waited 2 and a half hours for them to tell me they couldn't fix it. I have a warranty on my tires and they still wanted me to pay $60 to fix it. What is the point of the warranty if I still have to pay to get it fixed? They definitely lost a customer. I got my tire fixed at a local business for $15. So no thank you, Pep Boys. read more

So I went to Pep Boys to get some break pads, easy right? Took alittle while for them to get it done wasnt to upset about the wait. The two guys up at the front were really nice and talked with them awhile. Got into my car after the work was done and my breaks sounded terrible, so went back to see what this sound was all about and was informed they will squeak alittle due to being cheaper breaks so I was left thinking next time ill just get the better ones. Fast forward went to another place for a checkup on the car and they asked me if I got new breaks resonantly , said yes. He told me that who ever did it should refund the money due to the fact that they didnt rotate my rotors and now there are grooves in them...So I will never be getting any work done a Pep boys again. The fact that they employ someone who is willing to do a half-ass job on my BREAKS, something I need to work at its best pisses me off.
