Extremely extremely slow. Car was not ready as promised for a one hour oil change. It took More than 2 1/2 hours for an oil change on a Nissan. Shop appears to be very disorganized. Based on my experience this shop is Not recommended for auto servicing. Not a good experience. read more

A good review is needed for this location. Jorge is the hero and his team of service mechanics. I called in to see if they were busy and if they could diagnose my car since I was bringing it via tow truck. Jorge was super nice and professional. They brought in my car in one of the service bays and start their diagnostic. He lets me know I had an mis fire on one of the cylinders. They needed to replace one of the coils and change all 4 spark plugs. They did it fast after I approved the charges. I applied for the in store credit financing. So I can pay it off gradually and 0% interest for 6months. I drove it home which I'm 40miles away and it drove fine and back to normal. Thank you PEP BOYS and Jorge service manager! read more

Never coming back here ever again. The manager "Robert" here is rude for literally no reason. Service itself was great, along with all the other employees but the nasty attitude I got with every encounter I had with Robert ruined everything. Basically, I went in for a service, a couple days later something came to mind where I thought I could get a refund for a tire. I go into the store, and the employee who helped me told me I couldn't get a refund but a free service instead but he never specified why exactly I wasn't eligible for a refund. I agreed to get a future free service but I was still confused as to why I couldn't get the refund & what the hassle was about. When I got the survey email I filled it out & chose the option for a manager to call me so I can tell them about my experience. I get a call from the manager there, Robert & he explains to me why I couldn't get my money which he claimed that the part I tried getting a refund for wasnt from Pep boys which wasnt true. I had gotten my tire from the Pepboys in Covina & I had the receipt but he kept insisting that he had the tire there & could see it wasnt from Pepboys. Im not sure what he meant by that or where he was getting mixed up. I knew it wasnt going through his head so I decided to let it go & just accept the free service. However, the part that really bothered me was his attitude towards me. Right off the bat, he was very stern, short, condescending & just his overall demeanor. Mind you, I was not being rude at all or anything of that manner - ever. He also wasn't apologetic about the situation which in customer service, I feel you should be especially when you cant go through with a customers request. I was expecting something like "I apologize but the reason why you cant get a refund is because..." but no as he was explaining it to me he had a very "in your face, too bad so sad" tone like he was proud to deny my request. If he didnt have an attitude then it wouldnt of bothered me that he wasnt apologetic. AND THEN... time goes by & I come in for that free service they offered me so I go in person & Im not sure exactly where the mix-up happened but when he found out I was there, he comes storming out to the front where Im at with a flustered look on his face & decides to harass me about the situation again because he ASSUMED that I was there to ask for my refund again. He starts coming at me with "We spoke on the phone ...... there is NO refund...." so then I tell him yeah....im not here for that.....Im here to claim the free service ya'll offered......and he didnt even apologize then for coming at me like that & being wrong. He was like like oh..... then walked away. Im not sure why he decided to become a manager if he cant handle it when customers say they arent satisfied in a respectful way & doesnt have accurate info (him telling me my tire wasnt from Pepboys when it was from Pepboys, from another location). Good luck to him, he's gonna need it when he experiences a rude, difficult, entitled customer. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars because service was great & they did everything they could to make it up me but because of Roberts unnecessary, patronizing attitude, ill be generous & give them 2 stars. read more

I am not from this area but while I was driving on the freeway I got "correct tire pressure" notice. I exited and called few places but didn't get a positive response. When I called this place, the answer was "bring it in" and they helped me, the staff and the technician were very helpful and friendly. I made an appointment the prior day online for a tire rotation service. I got a confirmation email and text confirming my 5pm appointment. I arrive the next day for my appointment and was told they can't take me because they are closing soon (6pm). I said but I have an appointment at 5pm. He said that they have another car they are working on so they can't take me today. I responded again saying but I have an appointment, if that was the case I should have been called ahead of time. He responded saying he just saw my appointment a little earlier and can make an appointment for the next day. This was a huge inconvenience. I planned my day around this for a simple tire rotation. When I was making my appointment the prior day there were appointments open from 3pm all the way to 5:30pm (which is 30min before they close). This happened a while ago, but still annoyed about it. Memorial Day 2021, went Pep Boys West Covina as a last resort because they were the only ones open. Got a tire replaced, which was great...but they neglected to put back my Mazda Wheel Rim Center Cap Logo Cover. I noticed this a couple days later and called about it, they said they'd look for it, but never got a call back so doesn't seem they found it. I just had to make a quick stop here to get air. I was getting ready to drive back home when I saw the front driver side tire was very low in air. I really don't know how to put air , and I really can't do it even I know how due to my carpal tunnel condition. Pep Boys was on my way so decided to ask for help. While I was driving along their garage stalls and finally made a stop to call a staff to help , I was approached by a staff who was leaving for the day , since it was almost 6 pm closing time , and I told him I needed my tires checked. He then told me to go to the first stall to get help. Ricardo a kind gentleman was able to assist me with my crisis. First he checked out my low tire then asked me if he could open my car door to check something . He read the label on my side door for info on how much PSI it should be for my tires ... WOW! Hmmm never knew that!! Lol Then after adding air to that tire, Ricardo also checked all other 3 without even prompting him to do so . I was really so fortunate by this excellent service for a non-customer like me. I felt Ricardo was happy to help a kinda damsel in distress (lol) . I tried to tip Ricardo but he politely refused. I can remember Pep Boys growing up with my first car 1957 Belair two-door hardtop. I bought all my car needs at Pep Boys ,changing oil or whatever I needed ,that was the store to go to. I bought my first stereo system from Pep Boys so many years ago and still today Pep Boys has helped me.I had a suspension problem couple months ago and drove right in to pep boys and they helped me and I was on my way in no time and just the other day my battery died. I was stranded, but the same pep boys was just across the street so I took a walk and they helped me again sent a youngster to give me a jump. The employees there are courteous and friendly, and have integrity. The young lady at the register to the youngsters that helped me out both times I commend them and appreciate them .Pep Boys has quality auto parts ,tires that are always on sale.They have mechanics employees that know the know how in automotive repair. read more

Terrible terrible terrible customer service. Came in for an inspection for Uber and the short little man with green eyes who works the front desk was incredibly rude. I had asked Albert, who was doing the inspection if he had any questions because he wasn't sure about the mileage on my vehicle, before little Albert was able to even give me a proper response short elf daddy chimed in very rudely and angrily and said "NO! If we have questions we will come and get you so not questions, okay?" Then as I was waiting in the front area he told me "can I help you? You can wait in the waiting area if you want." I said "no I am actually done here you can give me my keys." I proceeded to get angry as he was being very rude and I threw profanities at him (being as honest as I can), and I left. I'll just give my money to some other company. This establishment is run by a power hungry man who doesn't let his employees speak for themselves. When I came to pick up the car I didn't notice that the just threw the spare in the trunk and didn't mount it under the SUV so I had to go back to get it done. This is the most unprofessional awful auto service I've never experienced in my 20yrs driving life. I changed my tire at this store in late Aug 2020. They charged at least $150 more than any of my other 3tires. Which I'm not happy but I accepted. This week, the tire I bought from there is constantly showing low air pressure. So I took my car over to see if they can take a look. I went over at 3:00pm today. The service guy Mike told me they t backed up with service orders but if I want I can leave my car, they can look at it later the day. He'll call me around 6ish if anything. So I did left my car. By 6ish I didn't receive any phone calls. So I called them back. No one picked up. My aunt is nice enough to drive me over. My heart sank once I got there. The gates r down and the store is closed. Luckily, there r o not two store front personnel there. They are kind enough to let me go check if my car is parked in their garage. I found my car there and ask them to let me take my car. I need to go to work tomorrow morning, more over I have my home garage door opener programmed in my car. I need my car to get home. Unfortunately they do not have the authority to do so. Now not only I need to take a half day from work, I also need to crash at my aunts place for the night. I don't understand why didn't they call me if they want to keep my car for overnight? George did ask me for my phone number. I even handed him my receipt from august when I change my tire there. They should have my information in the computer! How! On! Earth! Can! They! Let!This! Happened!?????!!!! I woke up at six and waited till it to get a little brighter and walked to the shop this morning from my aunts. It took me 40mins to walk over there. The store was not open. And I got there the same time as Mike the guy who was servicing me. He claimed he has called me and told me they will be closed by 6pm. If and only if any of them at the store this morning has the accountability to tell me I'm sorry I got your number down wrong. Or sorry for the inconvenience I have caused you, I wouldn't be so furious! I burst into tears and broke down right In front of the store. I don't even know what else to say to them. They didn't show any curtesy or care. This type of customer service attitude Is unbelievably awful! I went to another shop after and they literally offered so much better service. They took the effort to example in to me if I want to save money I can change my run flat tire to the regular tire. When we got to the vehicle and went under the hood she didn't look as she was sure of herself to do it. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!!!!!!! We took our car to get an alignment. The cost was reasonable and their time frame quick, but the quality and customer service was horrible. When we drove off, my husband could hear a flapping sounds. He stopped the car to look under and check the engine, everything looked fine. We set off again and the noise got louder and louder until we could hear a scraping sound. The whole under engine cover came off and was thrashed! We took it back to pep boys because this did not happen before we took the car there. They told my husband they had nothing to do with it and they couldn't help us. We left pep boys only 5 minutes before and this happened. They did a tire alignment and the whole underside of our car was falling off! So easy for them to brush us off. Brought my vehicle to this location. I mentioned to them that my car was not starting and I thought it was the battery. I asked for their "experts" to check it. Came back to tell me that I needed a new battery so I bought it for $270. After installing I couldn't get into my car because it's keys less so I went back to let them know. I explained to them what had happened and manager told me that that's what I asked for, a new battery. Was told that they have nothing to do with vehicle keys and that I need to do to dealership. I asked for my old battery and they wanted to charge me $18 to get my old battery. Now I'm left with a vehicle that doesn't lock or start keyless. This is simply wrong! Wish I could have gotten his name. Great help at parts desk from Art. Actually walked over to the windshield wiper area to help me get wipers for my car. Then both the cashier and Art informed me to go outside to the service area and have the repair people put the wipers on for free. Twice I've been to the service area for wipers. The first time (3 weeks ago) was a complete negative visit (I won't go into detail). The second time, I was very reluctant to even go back there. I had tried 4 different alignment shops and gave 2 a second shot to try to get my alignment decent.... I understood modifications may not allow perfecttion. I honestly never considered pep boys, I was going to alignment shops. One day I decided to stop by and im so happy I did.... They knocked it out first try. I have taken 5 different cars in for maintenance services here for the last 15 years. It looks exactly the same and now the place is finally getting a much needed update (remodeling). The service has always been good. The wait time can be a little unpredictable since there are time the vehicle may require more attention than anticipated. Had a rent a car with nails in two tires that we didn't notice until the next morning from Thrifty rent-a-car. With other rental car agencies, you have to buy road hazard and towing. The tires lost 6psi over night. I called around on July 4th and found Pep Boys in West Covina was open. I went there. There was no line. Anthony helped me. Thrifty has an 'arrangement' with Pep Boys for repair and replacements, but Anthony I guess didn't know that the automated department he used to enter the computer request for repair and replacement was not working that day and a manual call was required. The rental car (Dodge Ram 1500) was pulled into the back within like 15 minutes and the tech proceeded to jack up the truck and pull off the back tire. I wondered why they didn't put the truck up on the lift for both tires, but thought, hey, these guys know what they are doing. He found the nail, it was too close to the side wall so it would need replacing which Thrifty had told me, if replacement or repairs needed, my contract would cover 2 tires. So I'm good there. After about 30 minutes of waiting, I went back to Anthony. He said it's still pending in the computer, so I called Thrifty customer service. At first, I got upset when they said the approval department for computer entry was closed until July 5th - thought I was stranded. But after calming down and realizing that I didn't give the woman a chance to continue, she said the department is closed, but she can do a manual approval. So she worked with Anthony on that for like 30 minutes to get a credit card to Pep Boys/account they could use to charge to replace the tire. Okay, got the account and approval. Now the truck sat for another 40 minutes or so until another guy came to work on it (the previous guy went to lunch). He fixed up the tire. COOL! He dropped the truck off the jack, and tried to take it for a spin but forgot to remove the chalks from the front tire, so that looked bad. Finally, he took it for a spin, and parked it. I said woah boss, hold on. What about the other tire? He said what other tire. I said the front one. Well, someone didn't mark on the work order two tires, so he didn't know and he took this over from the last guy who went to lunch. So he brought the truck back in. Said he could not find the hole/nail in it. I said let's squirt some water on it, he said okay. Within about 90 seconds, we found the nail/hole and a repair was underway. Got it repaired. I spent 3 hours at Pep Boys I guess it was, 2.5 - 3 hours, and I was on my way. TPMS was reporting the truck's new and patched tires were running 44/45 PSI for a recommended fill of 36. I know it was hot out, but the other tires were running 41 and started at 36, so I had to let air out of the tires so I wouldn't have a blow out or something. I gave 3 stars because I appreciated they were open on July 4th, had an account/relationship with Thrifty rent-a-car, and were able to help me, but I took off 2 because I had to project manage the whole thing so that I could get back on the road - had 450 miles to drive still. I would still go back here again though. read more

I live around the block and although it's convenient, this store also has great staff, always polite and friendly, and not bad pricing for oil change (I usually get a coupon for when I need to come in and there's always a special available). They also have a free tire check that I need to come get checked out more regularly. Anyway, this review is overdue as I've been coming here for years. Not happy with their service. Tires were replaced and they claimed they changed the valve stems as well. I was charged $24, Yet they were dusty like my previous ones. I will never go there again, it's not about the money, it's the fact that this is how they probably scam people or save time to finish. Also there's some kind of grease on my wheels and tire, I'm assuming it's what they use to slide the tire on the rim. Very sloppy lazy work. read more
