literally the worst service i have ever had. called about a battery problem that was under warranty and the guy said oh yeah no problem come in and we will test it and it'll be fine. get there and a lady tells me they can't test it and no one is there to do so unless i take out of my vehicle. maybe you should tell your employees to let people know no one is there to do what i asked to do before i have to jump my car and drive all the way there. read more

My car needed major repairs the day before the 4th of July. I called Pep Boys and was able to tow it there via their towing service for only $24. The next day they worked on my car all day long and fixed multiple problems. Mike is hysterical and makes you laugh even when you're freaking out cuz you have to spend a lot of money on your car repairs. Corey is extremely courteous and very accommodating. If your car is having trouble head over to Pep Boys you can't go wrong. read more

Personnel in retail section of the store are the most unprofessional I have ever encountered. I swore previously I would never return to this store after receiving bad advice on purchasing a product and then not being able to return it. again I was told to purchase a compound that was not compatible with my car finish. When I went to return it, the store clerk was upset that he might have to "close" that day and yelled to the repair manager he was not going to do it. I made my exchange and another clerk then came by and proceeded to take each component of my purchase from the packaging to make sure it had not been used. I will never visit Pep Boys again and this time I mean it. It is embarrassing to shop there and the parling lot and personnel are a mess. read more

Customer service was horrible and the two people who helped me were the manager and then when I returned later in the day the general manager. Both seemed pissed that I had the audacity to actually come into their store and want to buy something. Go to Napa or Car-quest in Warwick instead this place sucks. Just moved to West Warwick and my exhaust system was sounding growly. Since Pep Boys is right around the corner, I decided to give them a try. WORST SERVICE EVER! I made an appointment to bring the car in. Had to wait over an hour for them to take me because they'd triple booked for that time. They told me I needed the catalytic converter and the exhaust changed out. $884. Driving out of their parking lot, the exhaust was rattling and there was still a growl when I accelerated. Turned right around and brought it back. They'd forgotten to tighten a bolt, hence the rattle. Drove away and it was still growling, Brought it back the next day, but they were too booked to work on it in the morning and I had to go to work in the afternoon. Brought it back again the NEXT day, and they told me there was nothing wrong with it. I kept insisting they drive it and LISTEN. Finally, I get in the car with the mechanic and he tells me it is because the exhaust pipe is not as long as the previous one because there was some kind of end cap thingy on the old one and for an additional cost I could get one put on. BUT THE SOUND I'M HEARING IS NOT IN THE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!! It is in the front. Nothing like a guy talking down to a woman, as if she doesn't have ears. Today I was driving to CT on back roads over hills. The car sounds like the exhaust system was never fixed! So I tried to contact Pep boys via their website form. It doesn't work. So I called customer service and asked to speak to a manager. After 25 minutes on hold I hung up and came here to Yelp where I am writing this review, and will forever after tell ANYONE I MEET THAT THE PEP BOYS ON QUAKER LANE IS TERRIBLE AND THEY DON'T GIVE A FIG ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I brought my truck in for a tune up, they didn't call me after hours so I called to check in. They snapped a spark plug pulling it out of my truck and had to repair it, they also informed me they only made it up to spark plug 5 and will not be continuing because it was not worth their time. I would NEVER have brought my vehicle to such a hack shop if k knew this was going to happen. When I asked for details on what was even done to my truck these hack "mechanics" (mechanic used lightly) couldn't even tell me exactly what they did.. Seriously? You don't even document the work you perform just a itemized bill? I will be sure to contact the corporate office and if I don't hear back I will pass this on to the better business bureau. read more

I gave Pep Boys another shot after a rather mediocre experience since they were close and I could schedule an oil change and have the tires rotated at the same time. The appointment was scheduled for 2pm and I arrived on time. It was busy, but I had an appointment. The car went on the lift at 2:15 and apparently stayed there for some time. I asked a few times and was told half hour should do it so now we are at 3pm. Waiting and there is arguing amongst staff in the background, I ask again at 3:15 and am told that it's almost done. Technician comes out and apparently a bolt broke when one of the tires was taken off (?). OK.... Auto is finished at 4:15 and I'm feeling completely taken advantage of at this point. They actually expected me to pay for the broken bolt and labor to replace it! Really, not happening!! I didn't save any time and honestly wouldn't trust these folks for any work, I just hope that they didn't break anything else while my car was there for a 2 hour oil change/tire rotation. read more

Ok, I have never been to Pep Boys for a repair but, as far as I knew, I only needed a front end alignment and the price was right. My guy took the jeep in, he was greeted nicely and got an alignment. Simple. Except that when he drove off, the car was pulling to the right. Soooo, he went back, was again greeted nicely and the mechanic happy readjusted the front end. Off we go, happy day...sorta. A few miles out, the car was pulling to the right again, but much worse. Back he went, along the way smelling something god awful. By the time he got back to Pep Boys, he could barely drive the jeep. Sooooo, once again he was greeted nicely and a few guys came out to see what was going on. As they examined the vehicle, it became clear that the right front brake had seized. Now, this had nothing to do with the work they did but, they looked it over and explained what needed to be done. Not only did they fix the vehicle properly, but they did it at a reduced price - I think because my guy had been out and back twice. They also fixed a few small things without being asked - but did not charge me for them. I am very pleased with how well we were treated, they never once looked annoyed that the jeep kept coming back. If I have trouble with my jeep in the future, I will go back. Amen for a good experience with a darn mechanic!! Not common. read more

Warning! You need parts or service go elsewhere! Pep boys is horrible! I will never step foot into this place again! Second bad experience with them. First my car was towed in many years ago after the breaks went, they told me the entire brake system let go. It needed pads, rotors, drums, shoes, hoses, calipers, springs and god knows what else was on the $6000 dollar estemet they handed me. So I refused the service and took it else were and it was under $200 to fix it. Now it's many years latter, I need tires. I go in to buy a set of 4. I walk into the store knowing the exact tires I want, including size. All they have to do is get them and ring them up along with the coupon I had. First the guy starts telling me what it's going to cost and how long I will have to wait to have them installed. I look at the guy and say all I want is the tires and he gets all frustrated and says let me see the coupon so I can ring them up. I hand it to him and he says you can't use this it's for merchandise. I say tires are merchandise and no where on the coupon does if say its not for tires. He says it's merchandise only, so again, I say tires are merchandise and the coupon does not say it can not be used for tires. In his broken english again he repeats himself, so now I'm pissed, no good explanation of why I can't use the coupon, no consideration for the fact that I'm making a very large purchase, just a bunch of ridiculous jiberish out of someone who barley speaks english so finally I tell him your going to loose the $500 sale over $40, again he repeats the coupon is for merchandise only. So again, I repeat tires are merchandise, no where on the coupon does it say not for use with tires and I'm done with this store, you can keep the coupon and the tires, I will go else where. The guy says ok, shrugs his shoulders and walks away. I will never go back, it doesn't matter if I need a 5 cent part or $5000 part, my money matters so little to them, they give service like I got, I won't go back, ever! Recently, my check-engine light came on, and I knew I had to bring my car in for work. I was pretty apprehensive about the process to begin with, but spoke with an associate who gave me a straight answer: in order to determine what's wrong, they need to run an engine diagnostic ($90). Ok, I knew this was going to be pricey, and this was the only way they could tell what the problem was - so I commit. They run the engine-diagnostic and, from the codes they were provided, were able to determine that there is a very small e-vap leak. The same associate informs me that in order to find the e-vap leak, they need to run a smoke test ($45). I ask if I proceed with the test, will they apply a discount. The associate agrees to discount my engine-diagnostic by half if they run the smoke test. Deal. During the smoke test, they had more than 5 different associates looking under and above my car, trying to identify where this leak was coming from. They simply couldn't find it, and reasoned that it may have been that the gas-cap was not screwed on tightly. The associate informed me that since they could not find the cause of the leak, and that it may have been a faulty alarm, that they were not going to charge me for any costs related to the check engine light! He then informed me that if the problem persisted to come back and they would take a second look! This was not just a personal relief of mind (knowing that my car was fine), but also a huge savings on my wallet! Excellent customer service - I left feeling confident knowing that I would not be swindled from this auto repair shop! Cannot praise enough. Thank you Pep Boys of Warwick! read more

I went to Pep Boys for the first time this past week and was absolutely appreciative of the service and customer care I received from Bobby. I went in for front brakes and of course my rotors needed to be replaced and I did not have the funds for that job. I was in a total panic attack and was under stress from every angle in life. He saved the day and made it affordable and did everything in his power to make it work for me...He has no idea the backstory or anything besides he could see I was in distress. He doesn't know how much he helped my life by doing so and was very professional and courteous in the whole process. Honestly, I used to come here and get all my things for my car, after market upgrade head and tail lights. Interior options and for oil changes. After coming here to find new bulbs, I will never come back. Stood for 15 mins as people walked by my puzzled look. Didn't want to bother them since they didn't even say excuse me or acknowledge me. Was trying to get new bulbs for my headlights and needed some help being advised which to get. Woman with red hair almost ran right into me with cleaning supplies and scoffed. Went to pep boys today to buy new car seat covers. The last time I went was 2 years ago for the same product and I said I would never go back due to the unacceptable service I received. I went Today and received the same type of service. No service at all! Not one sales associate asked me if I needed any help. I previously went to two other stores and looked for seat covers and was unable to find what I wanted So I reluctantly went here and had questions but all the sales people were are the front of the store not on the floor. I had never been to a pep boys before but my boyfriend suggest I go there because they did a great job with his truck. And I listened to him because he doesn't trust ANYONE with his truck. Normally, I'm not a fan of Pep Boys but I have to say after today, they've earned my respect. I just filled up my car at the gas station across the street and when I went to start my car, there was no electrical. I called PB and they sent someone across the street to take a look at it for me. Thankfully, it was only a battery terminals. I brought the car across the street and had them replaced since they were very old (15 years old to be exact). I was pleasantly surprised that it did not cost much and they did the job within 30 mins. They went above and beyond to help me out today for which I am grateful. they did not take advantage of me or the situation and to me that means a lot. read more

Terrible Service!!!! Made appointment for oil change, showed up 5 minutes early and was told it would be 30-35minutes before they could squeeze me in. A hour and 15 minutes later my vehicle was pulled in. 25 minutes later with vehicle in air I was asked if I wanted my air filter changed, I said no thanks.While my vehicle was in air so called "Technician" went on to a different car to replace battery instead of just finishing mine. 20 minutes later my vehicle was parked outside. I asked if I could pay because I've been waiting a long time, and was told just a minute, 5 minutes later I asked another person. Finally after asking third person he asked how long have you been waiting? I said "well my appointment was for 1 o'clock, his respond was to hand me my keys and say have a good day. Ok so I purchased tires from Pep Boys a year ago. They were recently damaged and I took them In for the road hazard. Unfortunately because of the miles I put on the car all tires needed to be replaced. I was mad to say the least but also understood it wasn't the stores fault. Very aggrivated I spoke with a Manger Named Jack. Long Story short although I wasnt happy I had to buy new tires Jack truely Listened and in my opinion did everything that he could do to save me money on the new tires. Spending money sucks no matter what but when you recieve the kind of service and understanding that Jack provided it makes you at least good about the company you are dealing with. I dont know if the company is the same at each location but at least you are dealing with an honest shop manager that takes the time to listen. Now if he could have given me free tires somehow.....maybe a 5:-) read more

I had a flat tire on my Toyota,.....drove there with my spare tire and had them replace the flat and the other three worn tires. I have to say they were very friendly and accommodating during a busy Holiday season mid-week. I got a great price on four new tires with installation and they also gave a 10% military discount on the price. Service hours to 8PM made picking up the vehicle very convenient. against my wife's wishes i brought in my van to get a new belt it bearly had a sqeak but didnt want my wife getting stuck. i pay i take my van home after getting serviced and and the sqeak is now twice as bad call them up they say bring it back. brought it back they change the tension i go to pick up the van i am driving it home and now its even worse. call them up for the 3rd time and they call me up that these clowns put in the wrong belt and it needed another and it was 500 more. i told them no thank you i would give my money to another garage. well another garage fixed and it did not cost no 500 dollars. the machanic that worked on it said that they did not install it right. I have filed a complaint thru there corporate and also with the BBB. these are clowns working on cares. trust me go somewhere else read more

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone , the customer service inside the store itself is awful , my mother went in there this past week to ask questions about an item then later that day she went back to purchase the item and I went back with her , before checkout my mother asked the man at the counter to look through the box to make sure everything was in there seeing the box was open on the shelf and it was the last one , I saw the customer service clerk (guy at the counter ) get up with a frustrated look and put his hand up as if we were bothering him as he huffed and puffed then as he took the item from her hands he was rolling his eyes as if she is pathetic , his attitude was very miserable when he talked to his co workers at the counter ,,, if she didn't want the item so much I would have told her to put it down and walk out right then and there but I didn't want to make a scene so I let her pay and go , won't be back there again !!!! read more

Today I had the unfortunate opportunity to go to the Pep Boys on North Main Street in Providence trying to purchase and have replace a tire. When I arrived there were two people behind the counter, one whom appeared to be having a heavy conversation with the female customer and not about cars, parts, etc.. Another employee came out from the back glanced my way and kept going; I stood there for 5 minutes waiting to at least be acknowledged, and was not even asked if I could be helped or that someone would be with me shortly; even the Manager who came up to criticize another employee did not acknowledge the line that was starting to form behind me, even though just a couple of people; I was not a happy customer and left; I proceeded to the West Warwick store where the atmosphere was completely different; I was greeted friendly by Denise at the front counter and I then proceeded to rant about the Providence place; and she could not apologize enough; and I just advised her I had to get it off my chest; needless to say, I purchased my tire, had it mounted and was treated, as everyone else that either came in or was waiting for their car to be serviced, courteously, though I know sometimes the public can be brutal, Steve, the Assistant Store Manager, and Jack, Store Manager, were both helpful and courteous, not only to me, but everyone else, including other employees. read more

I requested a diagnostic be done on my car to determine what the cause of a loud noise originating from my vehicle while driving at progressively faster speeds. The technician in question, a Mr. Harry Ruiz, diagnosed the rotors as the culprit and I said to go ahead with repairs (~$800). Upon picking up the vehicle, however, the loud noise could still be heard. I returned to the shop to voice a complaint and was told the problem would be looked at the next day. I finally called them the next day because no one had called me all day and the customer service representative informed me that two technicians conducted test drives and heard no noise! I came in person and conducted a test drive on the highway with a technician present and he magically heard it now that I was sitting beside him. The issue was in fact the wheel bearing which would have only cost me $250. They reduced the price to $100 to repair one wheel bearing; so instead of paying a mere $250 to resolve the noise, I ended up paying close to $1000 once taxes and warranties were factored in. They argued that the rotors needed work done anyway. My car is old and is only worthy about $2000; no rational person would get $1000 of repairs done on an old vehicle that's worth only $2000. I am also not satisfied with the quality of service of the wheel bearing in question because I continue to hear a noise from my car even still; they stated that I should get my other wheel bearings done also, each at a cost of $250! If I had received an accurate diagnostic then I would have known to cut my losses and trade my vehicle in. Instead, I based my vehicle and financial decisions on what I believed to be accurate and professional service. Had they not misdiagnosed the cause of the noise I would not be so caught up in the vehicle's costs. I am highly dissatisfied with the Pep Boys of West Warwick, RI; it is the stereotypical story of a customer going to a mechanic for just one problem and having them tell you that you in fact have many problems. If you absolutely must go to Pep Boys I'd recommend the shop in Seekonk, MA. Preferably, however, you will take your services to different brand entirely and save yourself some money and some stress. read more
