I came to this location because another car repair shop had told me I needed to change my brake fluid and replace a control arm on my Prius. After asking me a couple of questions about my brakes, the mechanic actually tested the fluid with a test strip and showed me that it was perfect. I also asked him to put the car on a lift and assess the control arm. They did that and found zero problems with that. It's always a good idea to get a 2nd opinion! These guys at Pep Boys are my heroes. I feel very comfortable bringing my car back here for maintenance or repairs. read more

I came to Pep Boys for an alignment on my 1992 Ford Ranger. They informed me they could only adjust the toe unless I installed aftermarket camber/caster sleeves first. That means they were only able to perform part of the alignment. My issue was being charged the full $140 alignment price for limited work. I asked if there was any reduced rate since only toe could be adjusted, but was told the price is flat rate and could not be changed. The employees were polite, so this review is not about customer service. My problem is paying full alignment price for partial service. In situations like this, I'd rather go to a local independent shop that is more flexible and experienced with older vehicles. I won't be returning, and I'd recommend asking exactly what can be adjusted before agreeing to the service. read more

Went to Pep Boys for a new battery. When I checked out, the service tech told me I would need to drive my car to clear the warning lights on the dash. A day later, the check engine was still on, so I took it back. Pep Boys checked it again, reset the light, and said I was good to go. Before I could even pull out of the parking lot, the check engine light came back on. This time, they told me it was an error code that only Chevrolet could clear. Turns out, they didn't actually connect the battery correctly. Took Chevy less that 5 min to diagnose and fix their mess. read more

Had service at the Holly Springs Pep Boys yesterday. It was a long wait but the results were worth it. And, I can't beat the price anywhere else. My 2007 SUV had several issues that were resolved plus an oil change, tire rotation, and brake inspection. The mechanic was terrific. The young man at the front desk was great too. I've been to all of the locally owned shops over the past 15+years. They overcharge and suggest things I don't need. I'll return to Pep Boys for the next service. read more

I came here last Thursday (6/9) to have my tires rotated and balanced because it was time and I had a LITTLE vibration when driving on the interstate. The greeting and the customer service was non-existent. An unfriendly and curt, "What do you need?" I tell him I need my free rotate and balance and he immediately tells me he needs to check and verify that my tires were purchased at a Pepboy's before he can do anything...ok...I don't just go around scamming Pepboy's for free rotates and balances. So I wait the 45 or so minutes (AFTER he's verified my tires were purchased a Pepboy's mind you) and my car is done. I'm driving away and it feels ok, but a little rough. I tell myself that the tires just need time to wear in to the balance...I know now that that isn't a thing. I don't go over 45 to 55 mph on my way home so the problem isn't readily apparent. One odd thing is that they did not give me a receipt or anything (perhaps because they knew they didn't perform job as required). On Saturday (after not having driving my car on Friday), I pack to go on a long haul trip from Canton, GA to Dundee, MI. When I get to cruising speeds, the car is riding terribly rough. It's bouncing all over the place. This occurs on the whole ride there and back. Today, I take it to another Pepboy's location (Alpharetta location as I was in that area). Upon leaving, the technician that performed the balance on my tires came out to my car and waved me down. He told "I don't know where you got your tires balanced but don't ever take it back there. There were weights randomly placed all over the rim! Inside, center outside! One wheel had a string of weights around the entire wheel!" I will take this technician's advice and never bring my vehicle back to this Pepboy location. If they can't even do a simple tire balance imagine the damage they could do on something more complicated. For better service and if it's not too inconvenient, go to the Atlanta Hwy, Alpharetta Pepboy's location. Like me, you'll be glad you did. My car is riding as smooth as glass now. read more

I was hesitant about a third party knowing how to correctly lift and do a repair on a wheel that includes foam noise insulation but these guys know their stuff and did a great job. Recommend them. I called ahead to make sure they had a battery for my vehicle. When i got there they said they did and when i got the bill it was almost $200 ($179 for the actual battery and $14 for labor) for a battery. My receipt said "premium battery" so they installed a premium battery with out telling me. I told them they should tell people that before they go installing premium features into a car with out asking the clerk said "you're right i agree" so they obviously know what they're doing is sketchy. They gave me a "coupon" so my battery was $130, but i would have rather had an $80 generic battery. Save your money and literally go anywhere else, Walmart batteries are so much cheaper. They are like every other mechanic and take advantage and of people. read more

They called me every step of the way to keep me updated on the progress of the repairs and cost before moving forward with anything. They ultimately weren't able to do all of the repairs it needed but did not charge us for their time. Woodstock, GA: I bought white-wall tires from Pep Boys for an antique car. The car sits in an enclosed garage, year round. Within several months, the whitewalls had turned a tan color and couldn't be made white. (Apparently this is a common problem with white-walls, these days) It had been so long, I didn't think Pep Boys would even talk to me about replacing them but I thought, why not at least ask? I contacted the store manager, Barry Harrell, and tactfully asked if he would consider replacing the tires with a different brand of white-walls. Mr. Harrell looked at the tires and agreed to replace the them right away. I was shocked! Mr. Harrell ordered another brand of tires and had them on the car in no time. Usually I feel like car places are always really rude and rushed however this was not the place. I had a huge nail in my tire that my car alerted me to while I was driving it at night. The closest place to where I was was Pep Boys. I went there and even though it was after hours I was able to talk to the technician at the desk. She was extremely nice and let me leave my keys with them and she said they would get my car fixed the next day. I was not expecting to get it back the next day because they were so busy. However that same technician called me an hour after their close the next day and said they would stay late to fix it if I could pick it up that day. I rushed there and they even let me sit inside even though they were closed! It's honestly the small things of going above and beyond. It was a painless experience and I appreciate them make sure I wasn't forgotten! read more

This was the only one of two places open the Sunday before Christmas when I had a nail in my tire. David checked me in and was more than helpful. They were able to patch my tire for less than $25! Had I needed a new tire, their prices were about the same as Tires Plus. I was about go there when I saw that Pep Boys had no reviews on Yelp whereas Tires Plus was well rated, but I'm glad I went to Pep Boys. They have a free coffee machine (that uses Keurig cups in case you have a repair that takes longer and want to bring your own), a very clean waiting room (four big, comfortable chairs around a coffee table and three stools against a counter with outlets for your laptops and even USB ports for charging!), a window for you to view them working on your car, and a separate (and clean) men and women's restroom. The only downside is that you can't take a left out of the parking lot but, honestly, I'm just happy to be driving again! Ask for David. Nice guy. Oh, and there's a Zaxby's across the street and a traffic light with a crosswalk to get there in case you have to wait longer. read more

It was a "rainy night in Georgia" and I was on my way to a client meeting when a good samaritan pointed out that one of my tires was flat. Nothing scarier for a single woman than the proposition of changing a flat in the rain! They asked if I was waiting on the vehicle as they were busy today and then checked to make sure my needed battery was in stock. They have ripped my son off of over 1200.00 He took his car in since the check engine light was on, it took them 3 days to tell him what was wrong and how much it was going to cost... $800.00. Then he picked it up and they said it it was going to cost him another 4-5 hundred dollars. For something else that should have only cost 40 to 50. And they kept it for 4 days when it was kind of ready in the meantime his tag expired. He can't drive it until it is fixed and he is going to have to pay a penalty for his plate. read more

DO NOT use these people. I took my Prius in for an oil change when I didn't have time to get into the Toyota dealer. BIG mistake. They tightened the oil filter in so tight the dealership broke two tools trying to remove it. I ended up having to purchase a 50.00 filter mount because of their poor service and skills when I went in for a routine oil change today. Have been taking my car here for "a while" now for oil changes and routine things. Called last week about a brake issue and asked if they could check it out. I was actually told no. I was told they didn't even have the time to check it out. I went down the road and had it looked at and there is indeed a serious complication. I called back to price match the quote for service since again, this is where I take my car. I was told yes they could price match twice by two people. Cool. I call today to get ready to drop my vehicle off knowing it might be in the shop for a few days and was told I needed to find the parts to speed up the process, almost like I was a nuisance. Ok I did it to be nice. I found the parts. Then he comes back at me and says they cannot price match and they are nearly 300 higher than originally quoted. I won't be taking my car back to pep boys. They don't value customers. They don't keep their word. They simply don't care. Right now if I could give them half a star I would. read more
