I had two nights comp here and decided to take my family on a quick getaway. I called to see if any rooms were available. I was given the opportunity to upgrade to a kings suite for $50. YES PLEASE! The gentleman who assisted me on the telephone was very kind and helpful. We arrived Sunday afternoon and boy was the line looooooong. Thank God they have a kiosk for checking in/out. It gives you key (s) & directions to your room. Took us all but 5 min. We were able to avoid the line. 1734 Florence Tuscany Suite was were we stayed. As I opened the door we heard Frank Sinatra singing. It was coming from the tv that also had beautiful art displays playing randomly on the tv screen. Nice touch Peppermill! Beautiful suite with a GORGEOUS view. The room was beautifully decorated and smelled very clean. Huge bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, a shower for 2 & a private stall (to do your business) The only thing missing was a bottle of champagne :) Can't wait for our next getaway. read more

If I want to escape from San Francisco and enter a time warp for a couple of days, I check in to the Peppermill Hotel in Reno, Nevada. As far as Reno is concerned, this is as good as it gets, hence the 5-star rating. However, if you are going to try to compare this experience to Las Vegas, it likely isn't going to measure up unless you restrict your comparison to being on-property at one place in Vegas. I go to Vegas a dozen times a year, but I always take at least one trip to Reno to visit my beloved Peppermill. All I can say is that the Peppermill in Reno provides me with something that even Las Vegas hotels do not, and that is a truly unique setting that enables me to feel completely isolated from the outside world...but in a good way. It makes me feel like a kid again, playing in some big neon-clad fort that was created and added on to as needed over the years. I love the casino, the diner, the little rooms with bars and video poker machines, the live music on the center stage, the pit bar, the sports book, the Fireside Lounge, and best of all, the newly built tower with fantastic updated rooms and suites. The suite that I always stay in has a bar (complete with red velvet and undercounter red lighting) a living area with sofa, flat screen and a desk, and a powder bath. The bedroom is large with cool lighting, a huge master bath, and televisions throughout. The bathroom has a soaking jacuzzi tub, a glass enclosed shower, his and hers sinks, and a water closet. For the price, this space provides a lot of bang for the buck, I guess. You are in Reno, after all! I usually wait for an offer in the mail to go so I am not paying full price. I am never disappointed. The property is not located downtown, so the only place you can really walk to is the Atlantis. On the flip side, you don't have to deal with the crowds of downtown or the "element" that is more prevalent in that part of town. I personally wouldn't stay downtown, but the Silver Legacy is nice to visit one day if you are looking for a change of scenery. I have not been to the pool, but it is heated and looks very nice. I walk by everytime I go to the casino, so I can tell you that it is well-used. The food (including room service) is good here. They have plenty of options 24 hours a day, and the diner is a must at least once. You can play Keno while you wait for your food if your palm is itching too much to take a break. The Fireside Lounge is a really cool bar that I cannot leave out of this review. It is unlike any other bar I have been to, with the exception of the one located in Vegas. They have a firepit with a water feature and flat screen televisions blasting out music videos along with a number of other cool features. They sometimes offer free appetizers, but I cannot tell you when because I am not sure. I just happened across it a few times. I could go on and on about this place, but the bottom line is that it is fun. It is my favorite place in Reno, as you may have guessed. There is just something about this place. read more

Review for the new Tuscany Tower hotel suites and the Spa/Salon I got a suite in the Tuscany Tower, and the room was great! All they had left were smoking rooms, and even then it was amazing. The beds were so comfortable, there was a nice big TV in the room, as well as in the bathroom. The bathroom had an air jacuzzi tub that self-cleans, and also a shower with two nice shower heads. All the lighting is adjustable so you can dim it to any level of brightness you want. The customer service is great. I had a delivery waiting for me, and they delivered it up to my room within minutes of getting up there. I had a room on the 16th floor facing the pool, which was very beautiful, especially at night. I got the room for my birthday weekend, and it was just really comfortable :) I went to the Spa Tuscana the next morning, and had a "wine down massage" and a "vino facial" (I believe those are the names of what I got). The spa is really nice and totally comforting. They have a lounge area for when you are waiting for your next treatment, with complementary snacks and water/juice. It seems like a really large spa, with an elevator to get to the different levels. You get a robe and shoes, and a locker to keep your things in. Each room that I had my treatments done in were very clean, and relaxing. The treatments themselves were amazing, and the employees were very nice and professional. Definitely a place to go if you want to really indulge yourself in the pleasures they offer. It is expensive, but totally worth it every once in a while. read more

Don't expect to get any of your stuff back if you leave it in your room and check-out! I left my tempurpedic pillow here one time and called lost and found...no record. I left my beautiful H&M jacket here during another stay, and called back....nope, not found. Wow! Yes it's my fault for forgetting my stuff when I checkout, but you don't have to be shady about it. Here with a group of women to bowl in the USBC Women's National Tournament. While the rooms are decent, clean enough and roomy, (we were not in Tuscany Tower), had the rudest service from a worker at the coffee/dessert cafe near registration. My friend and I were about to order something to take back to our rooms, and were just stepping up to the counter and the young lady behind it, slapped the "closed til 5:00am" sign up on top of the glass cabinet, cocked her ponytailed head to the side and said "sorry ladies". I was shocked at the total snotty look on her face. We went over to another restaurant - The Sports Deli where two really nice young ladies were also a little taken back when I retold the story to them. They provided her name to me and I thanked them for their courteous service. Will be placing a comment card in the box when I check out tomorrow morning. read more

We booked a room for our wedding. The day of, I found out the off-site makeup artist I hired wasn't showing up. I called the Spa/Salon and they saved me. While they didn't have any open appts, a short wait on hold and they were able to get a makeup artist so I could finish getting ready and off to my wedding. It was truly amazing. The room was wonderful. The food and service superb. I have stayed at the Peppermill several times before and I will continue to patron. read more

Dear Peppermill, I reluctantly went to your casino/hotel because we didn't get the new rooms in the new tower. The pictures depicted a drab room with drab colors and a drab view. I now feel like a regretful, pitiful lover that never gave his full support to his old flame; lamenting about how much of an idiot I was in a relationship where I ignored the finer parts of the good times. I'm sorry Peppermill, I never meant to hurt you. We got a huge room, subtle lighting, walls covered with mirrors for your own sex show, and a buffet that was pretty awesome. If anything, the movie that best describes the feeling I get is "Boogie Nights." The old seventies decor made me feel like I was living like a high roller porn star that blew his load all over the couch, large bathroom, wall-to-wall mirrors, and the king sized bed--twice. Our view was directly over the new Edge club, its outdoor waterfall and fireplaces, and the multitude of pools down below. This was quite awesome because I casually noticed two people in the pool in a compromising position. It was about 40 degrees outside, but they thought they needed to get closer, repeatedly. Actually as good as it gets for Reno. Tuscany Tower is the only way to go, don't be cheap, spend that extra $30 or so a night as you will not regret it. Request a view of the pool. Ask for a few bathrobes. Bring your best bath salts and sit back and relax in an impeccable bathroom with jetted tubs, walk in shower with two heads and a separate toilet room. Tuscany Tower Yo! Tuscany will not disappoint. I can actually go on and on about how wonderful the Peppermill Resort can be, however they seam to be doing just fine in comparison to the others in Reno. If you bought a $20k car and they advertised $12k cash back but then after you signed the papers they told you that the $12k was not available would you feel taken?? I would and kind of do with the Peppermill this week. When booking it said a coupon book worth $75 in savings was included in the resort fees, however no book was given. Approached the check in counter later after being reminded of it on a card included with the door keys to inquire. "Oh, we ran out and won't get any more in until they order them." Was the response. Of all the times we've stayed at other casinos I've never heard that one before. Still charging the daily resort fee though...hmmm. No comps offered. We always use those coupons to eat out or take the little one to the arcade or for the wife to visit the spa while saving a few bucks to put back onto the tables. They make you feel like you are getting something extra ( we all know its marketing and they make money off those also) I'm fine with that. But charging extra and NOT delivering???Sadly I feel like I'm forced to take my money to another casino/resort that understands how it's the little things that sometimes make the biggest impact on your stay. Even tho this hotel isn't in the mix of everything it's still a great hotel! The best part of my suite by far was the tv in the bathroom! Nothing like watching football and taking a nice LONG relaxing bath along with a mimosa! The room service food was legit as well! Theres plenty of bars throughout the hotel which is convenient! We love the Peppermill, and have recommended it to friends ever since it was recommended to us. Great relaxed atmosphere, friendly guests, nice pool with a great staff, nice spa, and amazing rooms in the Tuscany Towers. We recently returned for our anniversary. I hate to sound like a purist, but we were completely dissatisfied with the sheets/bedding. The rooms are beautiful, and we even upgraded to a Veranda room, but the sheets were absolutely awful. They were like sleeping on Hospital bed sheets. It seemed to cheapen the experience and take away from nice surroundings. I have seen others complain about this as well, but they apparently called and complained and had their sheets changed during the visit. I questioned the change at the hotel desk and they stated that they had heard that before from other guests but that they didn't know what was going on with housekeeping. It became a conversation with other guests around the pool who had the same accommodations. Apparently it was just a hit and miss, and we missed. Great resort, but the poor decision to change the sheets from previous visits to what we experienced on this one, really took away from the overall pleasure and comfort of our stay. read more

First I wamt to mention I love this casino its my favorite . I'm very disappointed with my recent visit my great grandmother and I came to eat and take my daughter to the arcade. We went to cafe expresso we received Phenomenal guest service there. While we were eating our meal an agent from the front desk yelled our way to ask if we had our masks with us and we need to wear them. I absolutely get by law we do, we were eating and Of course out masks were off. My grandma and i looked at each other because she was out of line yelling across the room very rude. I asked to speak to KAREN who was the supervisor I waited literally 27 minutes for her to come from her office standing and waiting. I felt like what i had to say wasn't important. I asked another person if i could speak with her and still ended up waiting an additional 10 min. During the conversation Karen was very rude not friendly at all. She was asking me queations and I felt like she was not listening or paying attention. She smoke to me like she was better like she new everything that what i was talking about or my responses were a joke. We dis not feel like the front desk or the manager were friendly or warm I wouldn't not want to book a room with the agents that were working or the manager who is suppose to be accommodating was absolutely stern rude judgmental . read more

Where oh where do I start. Perhaps with the fact that due to my own mistake in booking the wrong week they tied up 400.00 of my money and it took no less than 8 phone calls and over 7 days to get resolution? Or perhaps the 30 minute wait to check in. Oh wait, since the linens on the bed were so horribly unclean that the maid they sent up recoiled in horror and ran from the room for her cart. Add another 30 minute wait for an "upgrade" once again in line at check in. Let's talk one of the smokiest casinos I have ever been in. And this from a smoker. My eyes were watering the entire time. The seafood restaurant with mushy, dated and inedible sushi? How about $7.50 a drink for a simple call drink with well liqour? This may be the belle of Reno, but that isn't saying much. Reno is a ghetto, dumpy little town and the Peppermill Suits it's environment. Bye the bye, parents...what posses you to think that this is the place to take your kids? I thought I was at a neon, smoked out daycare every time I ventured outside the room. Tasteless, more concerned with loss prevention than guest satisfaction and tacky. I suggest you do not take your act to Vegas Peppermill, you are barely suitable for Reno. Blech is right! read more

Always a favorite and continues to be. I've actually stayed here once and it was quite comfortable. I continue to return for the excellent slot assortment including many of my favorite games. My latest visit was no exception and I had some gains too so I couldn't ask for a better visit. I'm looking into another overnight stay soon so I hope they can deliver like they've delivered before. read more

This hotel knows Customer Service! Don't neglect completing your email survey after leaving this hotel - they DO read them and pay attention. We know this, because after a "botched" first try at staying with the Peppermill back in July for my fiance's birthday, the Hotel Director offered us another try - in the form of a Tuscany Tower Suite in December for my birthday ... this time our stay was a home run! Do yourself a favor and pre-check-in online -- this allows you to avoid the line and check-in at the kiosk (a real time saver!) If you're a local, *definitely* take the time to pick up a locals card downstairs - it gets you a 20% discount on *everything* throughout the hotel (this equated to a real savings in many areas for us - including our favorite restaurant, the Bimini Steakhouse, and at the Spa.) Our Tuscany suite was *amazing* - spacious, with a separate sitting area with couch and two chairs, and curtains to block it off from the rest of the room. The bed was the most comfortable I think I've ever slept in at a hotel. There was also a nice view of the pool area, and two large flat screen TVs (one in the sitting area, one in front of the bed). A nice extra touch is that most lights in the room have dimmer controls. Enjoyed the over-sized 'soft-jetted" tub, however did wish the bathroom had more towels as after using the tub in the evening, we had no fresh towels for the morning. That said, we put that in our after-stay survey, and management has already responded and thanked us for our input, so I have little doubt that will be updated shortly. Aside from that, the only other thing we wished the room had was plugs near or on the end tables to keep our iphones charged overnight (had to pull out the end tables and unplug the lamps to achieve this); again, mentioned it on our comment card, so maybe next time...? I'd advise picking a Tuscany Tower room any time you can -- hands down a far superior experience to the older tower. It was a great stay-cation for us. Stayed here this past weekend. We had so much fun. The room was nice, especially the hot tub. We ordered room service and it was spectacular. My lobster was so big I couldn't finish it. Everything was perfect and all the staff we came into contact with were so nice and pleasant. I won't stay anywhere else in Reno. The Casino is also beautiful and clean. I could stay here for awhile. First time staying at the Peppermill and it was quite the unexpected surprise. We stayed in the West Wing and the rooms were very spacious, recently remodeled and we loved the bathroom! It had a double sink, vanity area and a jacuzzi tub. Very impressed with how clean the room was and how comfortable the bedding and pillows were. The whole resort felt like "mini Vegas". We ate at the Island Buffet and Cafe Milano (both reviewed separately). Friend staff, friendly cocktail waitresses and friendly dealers. We hope to come again! read more

This is a 4 star hotel. I gave 5 stars because the front desk hooked me up with a Grand Suite room. My boyfriend and a few friends came for Labor day weekend for the Rib cookoff. Booked this hotel through Travelocity. Apparently, they were having a special, if you book the regular Peppermill room, you can upgrade to a spa suite. After a 4 hour drive to Reno, we arrived at the hotel, had to line up to get our room at the Front Desk, then dude told me that I was booked for a 2 Queen bed room AND they didn't have anymore spa suites available?? WTH? But eventually, the guy was able to get us into the Grand Suite, which btw was a pretty nice room with a decent view. So we got to stay in a premium room with no extra charges for 2 nights. The room was very spacious and had a large flat screen TV, jacuzzi, shower/steam room, soft carpet, and verrrryyyyy comfortable bed and pillows. The night we got here, went to the tables to play a bit. I ended up breaking even. Second night of our stay, played at a pai gow table with an awesome dealer and tripled my money! muahhaha... That made my night. Pretty lucky casino, maybe I'll come back to try my luck again. See you next year! read more

*My opinion as a late 20s midweek visitor* The room we had in the Tuscany Tower was nice. Make sure you clarify smoking or non. There was a small mystery stain on the bed sheets which were changed quickly. The walls are very thin and door slamming can get annoying. To get to the point ... There's nothing to do here during the weekdays. The crowd is on the local, older side which is cool but don't expect to get dressed up for a night out, this is in no way a mini Vegas. The casino was all slots with 5 tables. Beware of the shifty eyed wondering characters who walk round the floor. Nothing bad happen while I was here just kept a tight grasp on my handbag. Basically I was just bored. I don't know if the hotel is to blame or this town? The is no walkable sightseeing. If ya want go downtown to the Silverado, Circus Circus take a 15 buck taxi ride. It's just as dead there too. There are no stores no attraction here. If you wanna chain smoke and play the nickel slots then Reno is your spot. The food I had at the Peppermill was all good and the Spa was Amazing. read more

I attended a function in their convention space last evening. The cost for the event was $45 per person with a cash bar. I am assuming that at least $35 per person was for the dinner that was served. I rarely, have high expectations of banquet food. It can be difficult to deliver a quality hot meal to a large room of people. However, last night I was beyond disappointed. The meal put in front of me was awful!! No one at my table of eight could even eat it. The meal started with a salad that had greens, cranberries, and some type of granola cereal on it that was out of place. The salad dressing was heavy and sweet. All of this was served at room temperature because it was already on the table when we arrived. Next we were served a piece of smoked salmon that was so heavily smoked it was inedible. There was also a piece of tasteless chicken on the bone topped with a cold tomato sauce of some type. The various vegetables carrots, asparagus and several small red potatoes were all bland and under seasoned. The room was lovely and the service was great but the food was beyond bad. This is unfortunate and unnecessary. The Peppermill has some incredible restaurants and so they have the knowledge and capability to provide a good banquet meal. I attend a lot of functions around town at various casinos. Both the Atlantis and the El Dorado have top catering kitchens and always serve a top notch banquet meal. Buyer beware before you plan an event here, be sure to sample their menu. I would be horrified to serve this meal to my guests. read more

OK, I've only been a Yelper since March, and forgot to write a review of the Peppermill, so here goes! I began visiting almost a decade ago, at the advice of some friends, when I was still living in Florida. Gotta admit that all the casino's neon, velour panels, and overall unique decor provide a definite sensory overload that keeps you playing. Little did I know that the rooms were decorated in a similar fashion back in the day before they constructed the Tuscany Tower, and remodeled the Peppermill Tower, until my first stay in a Spa Suite back in 2005. To be totally honest, I kinda miss that old decor, along with the old casino planet carpet. Those things just made the place. It was like a cross between old-skool Vegas and the set of some adult movie. To this day, the older black jacuzzi tubs in the Peppermill Tower rooms still have to be the best I've ever encountered in a hotel room or suite. They're identical to an outdoor setup, with huge, powerful jets, and can easily fit 2 people. No weak "jetted tub" - these things are real Jacuzzis! The in-room steam showers rock too, although some have been deactivated, or are no longer working. I've had several awesome stays over the years, in several different room and suite types in both towers, but have not yet tried the North and West Wings (previously known as the Annex and Montego Bay rooms.) Locals get awesome weekly free play and food discounts with minimal play. The Café Milano (previously the Coffee Shop) has always been great, and the Island Buffet is good, although a bit pricey (see separate reviews.) My only reasons for not giving it a 5 star rating: 1. The Passport Club has many perks, and has improved greatly over the years with new promotions and comp multiplier days. However, after visiting literally every casino in town and being a member of literally every player's club, both as a local and a visitor, the Passport Club seems to still be one of the slowest as far as advancing tier levels goes. I stayed a Purple member for close to seven years, and finally got bumped up to Bronze, but I think it was done only as a courtesy, because there was a timeframe when I didn't play there for a good couple of years. There were a couple of occasions back in the day when I held Bronze status, used some comp dollars to pay for room and food bills, only to discover my points were completely erased and I had been bumped back down to Purple. The same scenario has happened with a lot of people I've talked to. 2. I've had some customer service and booking related issues over the years, but they've gotten a lot better. It seems like there were major problems at one point with lost reservations, bad attitudes, overbooking, and customers getting bumped out of their desired room types for a while, but the online checkin system they invented seemed to alleviate that. I had the chance to meet David Fuller, who I believe is in the hotel operations division, last summer, and it's good seeing there's higher-ups over there that actually care about their business - and even these Yelp/TripAdvisor reviews! Most other properties in town don't even look at them, much less respond and try to make things right if there's a problem. The self check-in kiosks in the lobby are often not working. 3. It was a bit unique and infuriating, but I unfortunately had an incident in the casino a few years ago, where someone left about $100 in credits in a particular machine. Me, being the machine jumper that I am, didn't notice, as I had been playing for almost 9 hours that day. Anyhow, I stuck my ticket in this particular machine, played it for a bit, cashed out, moved to another machine, and the next thing you know, I'm surrounded by three security guards, treating me like a criminal, with an accusation that I up and out stole money and was forced to pay it back on the spot to avoid having the police being called. Meanwhile, the 90 year old white hair on the Hoveround, who "accidentally" left her credits in that machine, sat in the background and laughed! (Note to lady: I now keep thumbtacks and nails in my pockets that I accidentally-on-purpose drop on the floor for pains-in-the-asses such as yourself to run over!!!!) Nope, she didn't have the decency to scoot up and say, "Hey, I accidentally left my credits in your machine" - she had to go ratting me out to security and making things difficult. I wasn't banned from playing in the casino, but a note was left on my Passport account that I was warned, and forced to pay back credits. Hopefully a one-off situation that I'm hoping won't happen again! All in all, old decor or new, the Peppermill is a great, unique place. They take pride in advertising slot machines with higher payback percentages than the norm, and I've won thousands here. Give the kiosk of Blazing Sevens in front of the Peppermill Tower elevators/stairs a try, they fire like mad. Just watch out for the little old ladies on Hoverounds! read more

My fiancé and I stayed here for his birthday October 2nd and 3rd which was a Wednesday and Thursday. We had an employee appreciation voucher that we got from his job for $50 and it included $15 to use on slots, $25 for the arcade, 2 free nights in a Peppermill Tower suite (but we had to pay a $29 housekeeping fee per night), passes to the spa (steam room, pools, jacuzzi, comp juice, coffee, and tea) and $100 spending money for the resort that could be used on ordering movies, room service, or at any of the restaurants in the resort. Our room: I've noticed in other reviews people complained about the suite in the Peppermill tower being "old" but it's antique furniture. It's supposed to look "old" but in no way is it ugly or uncomfortable. The room was very spacious with a table, seating area, the bed was VERY comfortable with soft blankets and amazing pillows, and plenty of mirrors and lighting which was nice for getting ready and my makeup application lol. The bathroom was pretty standard no big complaints other than the shower head being a little stiff but no big deal there. From another girly approach they had a very nice make up mirror in the bathroom too that was magnified and had lights lol. The tv doesn't have a plethora of channels but whose gonna just sit around nd watch tv all day anyway? We did order two movies which was nice. The good movies are around $16 but they do offer cheaper maybe a little older movies for $4.99. Resort itself: very clean and the staff here was friendly in our experience. Pretty timely on all of our requests. It was a little smokey but duh it's a Nevada casino there's cigarette vending machines. There is a no Smoking area where there's a decent amount of slot machines so that was a nice escape. The free drinks while you gamble was very nice. We didn't gamble all that much but we came out positive so that's always nice. We didn't take advantage of the spa because we both have new tattoos and you aren't supposed to swim or anything. The food was very good at cafe Milano which was more casual, and the island buffet which was also casual and there were lots of options which was nice since I am such a picky eater. Other than that we ordered room service which was a little pricey but we had $100 free so we took advantage. Overall we had an amazing time here. Our bell hop did mention EDGE club but we decided to spend the night in our room instead. He said ladies get in free I'm not sure if it was just Thursday or if that's the norm but I did see a few other couples headed there on the 2nd floor. I would definitely stay here again and we're actually planning to do that possibly for Valentines Day. The Peppermill made a good 1st impression on us :). Ps. Lol. We had a GREAT maid come to change our bed and bring us fresh towels. I can't remember her name unfortunately because I'm 21 with the memory of a 110 year old lol. But she was so friendly and she conversed with me instead of awkwardly just cleaning the room in silence. I so wish I could remember her name but she said she had worked there for 6 years and hopefully she's there again next time we come she was so sweet. read more

I had previously attempted to stay here, had some frustrations, then decided to give it a second shot. Last time, I got a room in the west wing, which was SO not what I was expecting. This time, I got a room in the Tuscany tower, and wow, what a difference! The location of it was fab, with it being not too far from the action and there was a restaurant right there by the elevators. The room itself was beautiful. I was on the 8th floor but still had an awesome view of Peavine Mountain. The bathroom was gorgeous, with its whirlpool tub and this huge shower with two nozzles. We had a king size room with "extra cheese". The cheese being the gold accented furniture and hideous reproductions of Lawrence Alta Tadema art PLASTERED throughout the rooms and hallways. I'm a huge fan of Tadema's art BUT these repros had the oddest looking eyes. Rooms have all been redone with super nice bedding. Huge fan of the baffle down quilts. Not a fan of the $11 charge for internet access and the $9 charge for a pot of coffee (no coffee maker in room). I would've given more stars if it were not for the very audible sex fest taking place in the room next door. How do you explaining the headboard banging and grunting to your kid? When my bf decides to go on a gambling binge this is the place we go to. I'm not a gambler but when i do play something I play paigow. Theres a pretty good amount of paigow tables and the drink service is quick. The dealers are friendly (or atleast the ones i've encountered), there's plenty of places to grab a bite, and free rooms are pretty nice The pool area is huge, plenty of parking, a nice arcade for kids, and the layout isn't bad. Every time me and the bf go to reno, we usually don't get into town until late, and with the free rooms that we booked, they usually run out, so they usually give us a better room. regardless of the flashy lights this place isn't bad, it's our new fav spot. the only sucky part is that it's super hard to earn comps compared to silver legacy. read more

The resort itself was beautiful and we loved our room. We stayed in the Tuscany Tower and it is well worth the extra money. I loved the spa...I had a neck, shoulder and back massage and absolutely loved it! We also enjoyed the indoor pool and my hubby loved the sauna. (See full review at Spa Toscana). A big shout out and thank you to the lady that helped us obtain our players card. She was absolutely helpful, funny and nice! You guys are smart and have placed very well trained people in this position! The cleaning crew, maids and stuff were nice and never made unecessary noises. I appreciate that because sometimes when you stay at hotels especially ones where you gamble and stay up all night, you tend to sleep till late hours in the morning, only to be awakened by the maids banging in the room next to you, or banging their cart outside of your door etc etc.. The only negative thing about this review: We dined at Biscotti's. Our waiter was Alfred and I should have known things were going to go bad as soon as he asked how we were and I in turn asked him how he was doing, and he said he was "ummmm...it's very busy...let's leave it at that". We ordered the chicken tacos appetizer and he asked "did you guys reeeeeally want to order the chicken tacos?". I'm like "Why what is wrong with them?". He answers "Well..........they just take reeeeeeeeally long to make, I mean reeeeeeally long to make and they are not that great. You guys should order the lettuce wraps, those are quick to make and it should be enough to feed all of you". We had a party of 5, which includes my hubby, 2 kids and 1 baby. I said "I think we'll still order the chicken tacos". He said "ok, suit yourself". When it was time to order drinks my son ordered a lemonade to which he replied "Do you reeeeeeeeeeeally want to order a lemonade? the reason why I ask is that I have to charge everytime you ask for a refill, and if I was you guys I would order a soda because I can refill to your heart's content. If you are like me and want to save a buck, I would say order a soda". I'm like "ook, he will have a sprite please". He was right the tacos took forever to come to us, and they were cold and the tortilla was hard. The rest of the food also took forever to come out and was also cold. By this time my daughter, who is well behaved for a 15 month old, was irritated from being in the restaurant for so long that she started to whimper. We looked high and low for Alfred, and he was nowhere to be seen. When we finally saw him we flagged him down for boxes and the check. Since most of our food was still untouched, alarmed he asked if everything was alright? It was not alright, but my daughter's whimpers were starting to turn into cries and we were getting the evil glares from nearby tables that I just said it's fine and we need to go. I did however try to mention my awful dining experience to the lady at the hotel desk when I was checking out, but she just said that all comments/complaints/suggestions should be sent in using a comment card to which she handed to me. I plan to fill it out and mail it in, but will it do any good? I doubt it. Alfred, you horrible waiter. Thanks for ruining my vacation experience and thanks to you, I will never return to dine at Biscotti's ever again, oh and thanks to you I am taking one star off this review! When coming back to Reno I will most likely stay here again...I do see another spot that has the same amount of stars as Peppermill, so I may try them and see how they compare against each other. read more

I haven't been to Reno in years, so coming to this hotel last weekend was a big surprise. Its like an older Vegas style hotel, but with really low ceilings on the casino floor and the decor was....umm, how should I say.... not very modern. Oil paintings every 20 feet, paintings on the wall that aren't very appealing, gold this and that, crazy pattern carpet, etc. Valet was quick, check in was quick, friendly and convenient, and we had a room in the Tower on the 12th floor overlooking the pool. Room was decent size, bathrooms were huge. Shower had two shower heads and there was a huge jet tub that could fit 2-3 people at one time. The beds were ok but were lacking pillows. Only two per bed...really? I appreciate the thick curtains to block out the sunlight in the morning, along with being able to control the temp easily. Pool: crowded early and all day! If you want an area to sit/lay down at, show up early and plan to stay. They do have a one hour policy so you can't leave your towel and book and go back to your room for a couple of hours. They do provide towels as soon as you enter so no need to haul any towels down from your room. Drinks are average price and depending when you go to the bar, expect to wait for a drink. Casino Floor: low ceilings, smokey, a little confusing to navigate at first, but fairly clean. You have to flag down the cocktail waitresses if you want a drink, unless you're playing at the tables. Be prepared to smell like you've been smoking all night if you're on the floor longer than 30 minutes. I don't smoke but my lungs were hurting!! Overall, it was a pretty nice hotel that has everything for everyone. I noticed a lot of families with kids walking around, getting ice cream, eating at one of the many restaurants on site and using the pool. I do wish they had a convenience store inside because after a night of partying, looking for a bottle of water or a light snack was a pain. Beautiful Casino, Resort and Rooms, however, that said, we booked a Imperial Suite for this past Friday and Saturday nights, specially because there is a hot tub/jacuzzi in the room. When we book a resort, we rarely leave, as the relaxation is what we are after. Staff was stellar, food great, but that said, Saturday morning, only a cold water shower.......called housekeeping and was told the hot water issue was being resolved and would be rectified within minutes. So, no jacuzzi that morning, no big...... Sunday morning filled tub and the water was at best luke warm, barely warm...why in the hell did we even book this room. Shower was worse, literally cold water. Not happy at all. Checking out told clerk of the cold water issue and she took off the resort fees.....really, why did we book a room with a jacuzzi with only cold water???? The fellow behind me checking out had the same complaint, but was much more vocal than I. Very disappointed, this suite was not cheap and if we had any idea we would have booked an average room and deal with cold showers. If I could give a "no-star" rating, I would in a heartbeat. My boyfriend and I reserved a spa suite here to celebrate the New Year's, lured by the affordable room rate and the pretty pictures on their website. We arrived around 4:30pm on 12/31/2009 and were told that "Sorry, we ran out of spa suites". Excuse me? I asked the receptionist what was the point of reserving a room, and she meekly answered "to guarantee a room". Duh? The best they could offer was 30 bucks off a night and a regular room. If we had booked a regular room to begin with, we would've gotten a much better rate than 30 bucks off the spa suite rate. What a scam! We cancelled the room and stayed at Silver Legacy instead. Aside from this horrible experience, my impression of Peppermill was smoke-filled, overly-dark with too much neon lights, and dirty. It was NOTHING like the photos they show on their website. This place is disgusting and dishonest. They do not honor offer codes. Too bad there is not a rating that is ZERO stars. I mean, if you do not honor offer codes, why the heck would you waste paper and send me a promotion. What a complete joke! Luckily, I listened to my friends who advised me to try the code online. I was able to book my room for the dates I wanted. Definitely an interesting way of conducting business. They trick you to call in to claim the offer code and if you are requesting two days, they tell you only one day is available for your offer and you have to pay $110 for the other day. This has happened 3 times already when I call to make a reservation. I'm not even asking for a weekend day. What is going on with this place? Money problems or are you taking your Player card members for granted? Also, you should consider replacing your VIP Agents. It is super disrespectful to call in and have to talk to some snooty person that is rushing you off the phone while the entire time being super annoyed that you called in to bother them in the first place. read more

The only hotel in Reno I have and will ever stay at! Excellent service and good quality rooms! Always stay in the Tuscany tower suites! Trust me! And the restaurants are amazing! It's a nice resort but I wouldn't rate it 4 stars. Our pillows had some stains on it and some hair. So I was very hesitant in even using them. The bathtub can use some Clorox or something. It's not white but off white now from wear and tear. But for a high rated resort, I wouldn't rate it 4stars and up. Just a 3 star resort. read more

Unless you're a die-hard neon fan, DO NOT STAY HERE. We got stuck in town by a half-day closure of I-80 and decided to spend the night rather than get home at 3 or 4 am. The place feels oppressive and is visually overwhelming. Overly tacky and gaudy, and confusing with the mix of Roman/Ocean themes. Sure, our room was decent, but I've experienced better at the same price elsewhere. My advice? If you're staying in Reno, go to the Atlantis! read more

The Pep has been my favorite spot in Reno for video poker and watching sports for a year now, but I've held off on a review since I wanted to stay in the hotel first. Normally it's a minimum of like $85 a night, but I got a great email offer for $40/nite weeknites w/ waived resort fee plus $40 resort credit each night for a Peppermill Tower room, so I had to jump on that! HOTEL: The Peppermill Tower rooms are quite swank. Even a phone next to the toilet so you can LBJ somebody. Good large wall-mounted TV and cable package, GREAT high-speed wifi for hotel guests, nice four-post bed, tons of random furniture around you probably won't use. Only bummers: every room in the Pep Tower has a conjoining door that you can hear your neighbors through. I looked at the door map and it seems the only ones that don't are the handicap rooms ... even the suites have them over to some pleb's room. I'd be red hot superpissed if I paid $200+ a night for a suite and walked in to see one of those things. Anyway, I don't know what the situation is with the other towers, but couples who want "romantic privacy" will probably have to shell out for a more pricey room. Only other mild bummer was that the bathroom was small and the shower head was weak and sputtery ... nice that they give you mugs for coffee though, and zero worries about cleanliness here. Hallways are a little strange, in random spots you hear very faint female jazz vocals. Felt like I was in the ladder scene from Metal Gear Solid 3 every time I left my room. "I'm stiiiill in the Peppermill, Snaaake Eeeeater!" Oh, the fitness center is super swank, as big and well-equipped as the smaller 24 Hour Fitness locations I've been to, and you get free water and Gatorade. Well "free" in that it's part of that pumped resort fee, but you might as well get something out of it. CASINO: As mentioned this is my fav place for video poker in town. The Peppermill Poker machines are all over the place and I find the pay tables are always good when I come in. The Sports Book is also great, tons of TVs, little stations with individual TVs, my favorite place to watch the hockey playoffs since America would rather broadcast some high school football game than a first round NHL playoff game. Sports Deli has pretty reasonably priced food for how good and big it is. FOOD: I didn't try the higher-end options like Bimini and Chi because I don't think I even own clothes that they would allow me in with. But the buffet is pretty good, Cafe Milano is good but a little overpriced IMO, and the Sports Deli is the big winner of the bunch for relative quality and value. OVERALL: I'd probably only come back to the hotel on a similar killer deal as I prioritize sound privacy and getting solid sack time way over frou-frou amenities. This time I got lucky with a polite neighbor but if you got a room full of party kids or BIG HUMPIN BIG DRINKIN BIG FARTIN BOB next door you could be in for a hellish night and you shouldn't have to put up with that for rooms that are usually in the $100 and up range. Everything ELSE was great though, and if not for some idiot architect filling the place with conjoining doors I would highly recommend it for a getaway. JUST BUILD A WALL. SERIOUSLY. EVERYBODY HATES THESE THINGS. Still gets high marks just for being one of the nicer places to play and eat in Reno, even if you skip the hotel. read more

I should post more reviews because the Peppermill has be good to me and my company off and on for years. But on my last visit it took 65mins to get a drink at the Terrace lounge. The room on this trip was not up to Peppermill standards the shower cap box had a packet of sugar in it and the bathroom had the last persons soap left in the shower. Four couples did another 5 day stay here and it was outstanding. A real plus is the airport shuttle and the computer/printers in the hotel lobby so you can print your boarding pass. This time we didn't dine in the hotel ever. We Uber'd it to local eateries and figure we saved over $200 each couple over the last trip here. The eateries and bars on the 1st St. Truckee river walk and South of the hotel are great. Avoid the Peppermills outside North side, it's ghetto and it's gets real ugly real quick out there. Never go out on foot. The 7 11 a block away on Virginia st is like a prison yard. All the hotel employees are terrific. Hell, we'd stay again just on the strength of the great staff alone. You're in a casino you're going to be around cigarette smoke. Get over it. The Peppermill does an amazing job trying to control and eliminate it. You know it's at every casino, don't bitch about it.
