When we first entered the restaurant, five employees were standing at the counter, and none said hello to us. I am updating from 2 to 4 after trying the larger "Ultras" subs. It's no exaggeration that these have at least double the meat of the original subs, and for only a dollar more. So the Ultras are definitely the way to go. But I still recommend they "beef up" their originals. read more

I was in the area on business and didn't want to deal with a whole dinner. This place got good reviews and a cheesesteak sounded perfect. Clean place, busy but not crazy. Ordered a pizza steak, sauce on the side. Came with fries. Staff is friendly, service was quick, price was reasonable. Food came out quick. Fries are great. Marinara tasted like someone made it, very good. The only downside was that half the sandwich was just bread. Seriously. The middle was ok, but 2-3 inches on each side was empty bread. I'm not sure if it was personal, or shrinkflation, or whatever. I ate the fries and the part of the sandwich that was an actual sandwich and left hungry. I should have taken a pic but didn't want to make a big deal. I don't fight with people who have access to my food. if you're coming here look inside the bread before you leave. My husband and I have been to the Freeport Rd location several times. The cheesesteaks are the closest we can find to a Philly cheesesteak. Stopped in yesterday to grab a few to go. For those not familiar, you order at the counter, they give you a number, then you sit and wait for it to be called. Respond loudly and a guy will run your food over to you. No frills, yet excellent service. Even though it was busy and I was 20 numbers deep when I ordered, I had my sandwich within maybe 10 minutes, and everything was right-of-the-grill piping hot. When it was done and the customer again said it was to go they threw away the fries because if you don't eat there you don't get them for free. They didn't even give an option to buy them because they wanted to be idiots and throw them away.This was a first time visit and last for me and the other customer after what they did. Ordered a Special Italian Sub that is loaded with Genoa salami and capacolla. Had mine cooked, which means they cook the meat on a grill then build your sub with provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato and added banana peppers. The also squirt it with an Italian dressing. In terms of COVID precautions Uncle Sams added outside seating, bar was roped off, plexiglass at the register, limited seating, and increased distancing between tables. Finally all staff were wearing masks. I had the steak and egg hoagie. If you dine in, fries are included with your sandwich. My wife enjoyed her sandwich too. Staff has always been efficient and anyone I've taken there has left stuffed and happy. Prices are fair and they even have a few draft beer options too. Looking forward to my next Uncle Sams visit.
