Percy's is a very chilled laid back place during the day. The big windows and outdoor patio allow for lots of natural light to come in. It's not very loud and and there's a very calm ambiance. At night, this place is bumping top 25 hits and it's filled with attractive people chit chatting and throwing back their cocktail of choice. Now I can't say anything about the food here but the drinks are phenomenal! I love sitting at the bar and watching the bartenders work their magic. It's literally like watching someone make a potion. Great atmosphere, really good drinks, and better than average food make Percy's a good spot to stop in Ballard. First off, the space is gorgeous. Dark walls, lots of brick, high ceilings and beautiful greenery surround a well-stocked, and well-organized bar. You can see all the different house made tinctures, bitters, and shrubs along with the vast collection of other spirits. We stopped in on the weekend, but happy hour was still going, so we started off with a couple of cocktails and their green salad with radishes. The Spicy Tomate drink had a real kick to it, and tasted like a Bloody Mary all grown up. The Fork in the Road had just the right balance of bitter and sweet with rye whiskey and some amaro. The greens on the salad were nice and fresh and was lightly dressed to give it plenty of flavor, but not be swimming in dressing. We also ordered the chicken sandwich, which my wife and I had differing opinions on. I thought it was a very good sandwich, juicy and tender, flavorful, and a decent size. My wife on the other hand was a bit disappointed because she really only likes breast meat and she thought her piece of chicken was bordering on slimy, not juicy. It came with a nice big pile of fresh cut fries that were very tasty. Probably should have sent back the sandwich and tried something else, the staff was very friendly and helpful, even as the bar area was getting busier and busier as the afternoon wore on, and I'm guessing they would have been very happy to sub it out for something else on the menu. From the round booths to the warm wood accents and old school fridge, I felt welcomed and relaxed. We stopped in during happy hour and found a number of drink options and food included at discounted prices. Now for the drinks. I had the Honey Bee cocktail, which was refreshing and tart. The rosemary didn't add much flavor to the drink but rather the scent was present before each sip. Finally, the staff was friendly and did their best to make each customer have a great experience. I really love the ambience here, but what is up with the small portions and hefty prices?! As a local Ballardian (haha, just made that up), I am always excited when new places open up. And I'm even more excited when they are of the hipster persuasion (social experiments!). But I never understand why they always feel the need to hike up the prices for food that's interesting, but overall, just okay. A friend and I stopped in here on a whim while walking around, and we split an appetizer of bread w/butter, parisienne gnocchi (served with peas, asparagus, and brown butter), and the roasted porchetta. Food was served promptly, and service was definitely friendly, but the portions were miniscule considering each dish was ~$20! I would even venture to say that the portions are smaller than appetizers! Recommendation: Go for the drinks and atmosphere but skip the food...unless you're Mr. Moneybags. read more

Weird experience at Percy's... What really shouldn't have been an interesting night turned out to be very interesting. We sat down for just a few drinks around nine o'clock. The first thing that happened was that an oddly rude/playful waiter took our drinks (which I thought was funny but the rest of the party hated). The first order of drinks was correct and we were having a great time. They only really messed up the drink order closer to closing time to which I happily took my friend's drink, and traded my own, to avoid any sort of conflict as I am not very confrontational. Finally, after last call (around 10:30) the bartenders started bantering, in a very friendly way, saying it was time to go, and that they were trying to get out of there. We happily obliged and told them we just needed to finish the drinks they had just brought us and would be out of there before close. One of the servers (!!very much!!) did not get the same signal and began trying to curse us out telling us to leave and that he wouldn't have us talk to "his" bartenders like that(?). It was completely bizarre, but to avoid an unnecessary conflict during Covid times we left. To add to it, on our way out, another server straight up told us "I'm sorry about her" assumingly taking about the bartender who was definitely not the dude who cursed us out, making me think this may be a more systemic issue at Percy's. Now, I like Percy's, so would I come back? Probably. But if there weren't COVID wait times everywhere else, I'm not sure. All in all.. 4.5/10 read more

Came here for the cocktails, will come back for more cocktails! We had a great experience here. I'm not sure who our server was, but he was really great, super friendly and helpful and seemed really happy to be there. We sat in the back patio which was perfect on a summer evening. I love places that create custom cocktails for you, so we went with the bartenders surprise cocktail. I said I wanted whiskey and spicy. They didn't mess around with adding a ghost pepper to the drink, it was great! I would get the surprise cocktail every time to see what fun things they come up with. We did also have dinner here. The fried chicken sandwich was pretty good...I think I was more focused on my cocktail though. Friends I was with got the burger, sans bun with a side salad and said it may have been the best burger they had ever had, so that's awesome. Might have to try that next time! I wandered into Percy's by myself and sat at the bar. The bartender was busy when I arrived but he acknowledged me right away and let me know he would be coming over as soon as possible. Once I ordered my drink, it came quickly. The drink menu at Percy's is unique and I loved both the Awakened One and the thyme/gin drink I tried. For food, I had the salt cod fritters and the beef short ribs... two dishes I had tasted very recently at the Laurelhurst Market and Butcher in Portland. The salt cod fritters were perfect and the beef short ribs had wonderful flavour, although they were not quite as fatty as I would like but I generally prefer super blubbery meat that no one else considers edible. The service was attentive without hovering and the decor is warm with lots of wood. I'm looking forward to coming back for dinner and drinks with some friends! read more

This is a cute little place in Ballard. I enjoyed the drinks more than the food but I would definitely be back for a cocktail and oysters. The menu isn't the same but from what I remember, here's my opinion: The sloppy joe was good. I had the fried chicken, which came highly recommended, but unfortunately I was not a fan. The seasoning and herbs in both the chicken and the red beans was overpowering. The frites are delicious though!!! Very very good. We also had the corn fritters (think that's what they were), and they were awful. Bland- in desperate need of salt and seasoning! All of their cocktails were delicious. I'm assuming he's the manager because he was training a new bartender, but he was the nicest ever! Our popcorn came out late because they forgot it so he covered it, and also gave us a family/friend discount because the drink we got from the training bartender wasn't really a French 76, and tasted like straight champagne (no complains though!). This restaurant is located right at the heart of downtown Ballard. Make sure you don't come here on a Sunday afternoon when the farmers market is going because you'll probably drive around for 40 minutes, like I did, to hunt for a freaking parking spot. It is so nuts in that area! I was almost going to call my g/fs to tell them that I was going home. I've been to Percy's twice. Both times were okay experiences. Highlights of coming here: drinks are reasonably priced where it ranges from $6-$12, depending on when you come here. Their happy hour was great. The Sunday brunch menu is also reasonably priced where food ranged from $8-$15. I got a quiche with a salad. The quiche wasn't all that tasty - mediocre and the salad that came on the side was just arugula with some dressing. You'd think they'd put a little bit more to make the salad taste better right? Arugula and dressing isn't all that yummy. Some nuts and dried fruit may have made it taste better. Our server was pretty nice and attentive. Negatives to this place: The women's bathroom was pretty dirty and disgusting. They put the waste bucket below the sink so it is pretty hard to find. There is a creepy picture in the bathroom that reminds me of the creepy pictures in the haunted mansion at Disneyland. The bathrooms left a pretty bad impression of the place. We tried a couple drinks like pisco sour, awakened one, and honey bee. Everyone was happy with the drinks. For food we had cajon fries (too dry and thin), kale salad (greasy dressing), fried pickles (too greasy, too much batter), shrimp and grits (met expectations but too spicy), and jumbalaya. Overall the food was not very satisfactory and some of us left with upset stomach. The crispy potatoes are delicious, as is the sausage patty you can order with your breakfast or as a side; again, very little grease and tasty. The drinks are unique, with their cocktail menu both extensive and one of a kind; many featuring fresh herbs and garnishes that infuse their flavor into the drink itself. Non alcoholic options are equally fun (have the bartender give you a mystery mocktail, or better yet, give them a flavor profile and they'll figure out the rest.) Similar in decor and feel to the Little Tin Apothecary right down the street, which I believe belongs to the same owner; drinks are equally similar in style and approach but not the same flavors, etc. Best experienced, however, at night for dinner, with a unique ambiance that shines when the sun sets. read more

Started off with some orange juice and waters. The brunch menu was pretty standard, with scrambled eggs and Benedicts, pork hash and so on. I got the Benedict while my friend got the scrambled egg with some bell peppers. The food wasn't bad, nothing special. The scrambled egg was a touch overdone while the Benedict was a little under. The pork sausage was about okay, and the brioche toast with jam was nice. The culinary experience, while not bad at all, wasn't the best either. A solid 3.5 for the food. The decor was nice - resembling a gastropub. Nice Ballard crowds. This surely takes the 3.5 to a 4. All in all, a successful brunch! Will be back. :) read more

Can only speak to the beer and the happy hour. First off, their all day Monday happy hour is such a great deal. You can get a massive buttermilk fried chicken sandwich and fries for $13. The amount of food per serving was unbelievable. All the food that came out of their kitchen looked delicious. But, I was more surprised that you can get some great beer off their menu for $4-$5. That'll beat most prices anywhere in the city. The place also had a great atmosphere with a sweet outdoor patio (its reservable for special events). read more

It's a great place for basic people to take a Boomerang of clinking glasses for Instagram. Also not a bad place to get a drink with a leaf in it. The cocktails menu is really interesting as they seem to have an herbal theme to the mix. Sage infused bourbon? Thyme infused gin? Dill infused vodka? They grow their own fresh herbs and produce for their kitchen and bar, which is pretty cool. It has a laid back and chill vibe here. Great location on this street since it's in a happening part of town. Take it for what it is, being in Ballard, it's not the most diverse crowd, but I enjoyed being here. The design and arrangements of the interior is visually impressive. For sure, I can imagine myself having another drink here in the future when I'm trying to reconnect with my inner drunk hippie. read more

Loved the food, atmosphere and service during our visit here this past week. We sat out back in their semi-outdoor seating area, which combined with the perfect weather created a great ambiance for the birthday dinner. We started with drinks, and though I wasn't a fan of my cocktail (the vesper), I chalk it up to my preference towards fruitier drinks. The food was what I really enjoyed though -- pretty simple classic dishes, but done really well. My fried chicken sandwich on potato bun was juicy, crispy and flavorful. The fries that came with it were so good that everyone else kept eating them, and we ended up ordering 2 more orders of just fries because we liked them so much. Pimento mac n cheese, jambalaya -- all good. I plan to be back to try the pork belly sliders, or possibly stop in for their happy hour. read more

Percy's & Co. is a really cool place that just didn't work for us as much as we had hoped. The first problem was that the menu we saw on Yelp was out of date. So when we went to order our food, the food that we thought would work for our diets was no longer an option. It was a bummer but it was our fault for not doing enough research. Instead of crying in our whiskey we decided to regroup. We were going to forget our diets for the night and order what looked like the best onion rings in the world, along with some yummy fried chicken. We were so excited!! But after placing our order, our super nice waitress came back and let us know that the best onion rings in the world were no longer an option because a giant party in the back hogged them all and wasn't going to share. We felt defeated and ordered some French fries instead. All joking aside, is running out of onion rings a normal occurrence in restaurants or did we experience something brand new? It's an onion! I'm giving this place 4 stars for the amazing drinks, delicious chicken and how the onion rings looked as they were carried by us to the back room for the party.
