It has been a while since I've been here and the quality and service has not gone down in any way. After ordering the three enchilada plate, I was brought chips and salsa. The salsa was more the green jalapeno variety and delightfully spicy. I asked for my enchilada plate to have both red and green ( Christmas ), all beans and no rice, onions on top. My order came perfectly accurate and piping hot. I am a stickler for being served food hot.. I don't like food that is barely warm, that has been sitting for a while because the server was not paying attention. This was NOT the case here. The beans and cheese came out like molten lava, and very quickly too. I truly enjoyed my meal at El Agave. The food was so good that I intend to come back and sample some other culinary delights soon. Excellent experience!

Our drinks came out almost immediately. I ordered the Moscow Mule, which was perfectly refreshing, while my husband enjoyed a cold Coors Light. We started with the chips and guacamole, and it was the perfect appetizer. The guacamole tasted incredibly fresh--you could definitely tell they use quality ingredients. The chips were warm, crisp, and paired perfectly with it. For dinner, I had the green chile chicken enchiladas with potatoes. The enchiladas were delicious, but the potatoes really stole the show! They were seasoned so well that I couldn't stop eating them. My husband ordered the burger with fries, and it was cooked perfectly. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and the fries were hot and crispy. Between the excellent food, fast service, refreshing drinks, and welcoming atmosphere, Mulas made for a wonderful date night. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. She was gone for a long time before coming back to take our food order. Two of us ordered carne asada tacos and were told there was no carne asada. I opted for the shrimp tacos, but my friend wanted chicken tacos and asked if it was breast meat or meat off the bone. The server didn't know. She didn't offer to find out. After a few seconds of awkward silence I asked her if she could ask the kitchen about the meat. She said yes and then came back to tell us it was white meat. Perfect. After placing our order, it took a while for the food to come. The live music was nice, but it was a bit too loud and we loved when the artist took a break. When the food arrived, I was surprised by the small portion sizes. I asked for a side of limes and my friend asked for lemon for her water. We got a whole lime sliced, but no lemon. The server eventually brought the lemon and said she couldn't hear the request over the music. It took a long time to get the check. We weren't offered dessert menus which was disappointing, but by that time we were ready to get away from the party people who had sung happy birthday twice and the performer had also sung happy birthday a couple times. It was a lot. The food was good. The outdoor space was nice. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back though. They need to work on their pricing. $19 for three tacos with no sides is insane. I live in DC and unless you order tacos à la carte, the plates come with rice and beans. And even then, an à la carte taco is like $4-5. The shrimp tacos were good, but $15-16 would be a more reasonable price with no sides. I actually left hungry and ended up grabbing a bite to eat on my way home.

Mexican music played over the speakers and it was nice with it on or off. I feel like I found a gem. I didn't check the prices because it wouldn't have changed my mind. I later learned it was $31 for 4 street tacos, beans, rice, chips, and a fountain drink. Will I pay it again ? Gladly.
