My husband and I had dinner at Mulas this evening, and we had a fantastic experience! From the moment we sat down, the wait staff was friendly, attentive, and incredibly quick. Our drinks came out almost immediately. I ordered the Moscow Mule, which was perfectly refreshing, while my husband enjoyed a cold Coors Light. We started with the chips and guacamole, and it was the perfect appetizer. The guacamole tasted incredibly fresh--you could definitely tell they use quality ingredients. The chips were warm, crisp, and paired perfectly with it. For dinner, I had the green chile chicken enchiladas with potatoes. The enchiladas were delicious, but the potatoes really stole the show! They were seasoned so well that I couldn't stop eating them. My husband ordered the burger with fries, and it was cooked perfectly. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and the fries were hot and crispy. Between the excellent food, fast service, refreshing drinks, and welcoming atmosphere, Mulas made for a wonderful date night. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. I went to brunch on Sunday with a couple friends. It was my first time there, but my friends go somewhat often and they told me that Mula's must have been having an off day because they always have a better experience than we did. We were seated outside directly in front of the live performer's soundbar. It was nearly impossible to hear each other. There was a large birthday party behind us which made it even harder to hear. We asked to sit inside but were told there weren't enough servers. We ordered mimosas and were told there was no Prosecco. The server didn't offer any other options or alternatives. She was gone for a long time before coming back to take our food order. Two of us ordered carne asada tacos and were told there was no carne asada. I opted for the shrimp tacos, but my friend wanted chicken tacos and asked if it was breast meat or meat off the bone. The server didn't know. She didn't offer to find out. After a few seconds of awkward silence I asked her if she could ask the kitchen about the meat. She said yes and then came back to tell us it was white meat. Perfect. After placing our order, it took a while for the food to come. The live music was nice, but it was a bit too loud and we loved when the artist took a break. When the food arrived, I was surprised by the small portion sizes. I asked for a side of limes and my friend asked for lemon for her water. We got a whole lime sliced, but no lemon. The server eventually brought the lemon and said she couldn't hear the request over the music. It took a long time to get the check. We weren't offered dessert menus which was disappointing, but by that time we were ready to get away from the party people who had sung happy birthday twice and the performer had also sung happy birthday a couple times. It was a lot. The food was good. The outdoor space was nice. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back though. They need to work on their pricing. $19 for three tacos with no sides is insane. I live in DC and unless you order tacos à la carte, the plates come with rice and beans. And even then, an à la carte taco is like $4-5. The shrimp tacos were good, but $15-16 would be a more reasonable price with no sides. I actually left hungry and ended up grabbing a bite to eat on my way home. read more

Overall: Mulas offers delicious tapas with a great atmosphere and nice service but there can be (understandable) small hiccups with larger parties. Food: 4.5 We tried a variety of dishes that were all delicious. They had good balance of flavor and texture and do have a slight kick to them. Our favorites include the pork belly, aguacate frito, manchego frito, berenjenas, and gambas. Other dishes that we have tried include patatas bravas, shrimp ceviche, scallops, green chile chicken empanada, paella, lamb chops, and la mula (ribeye). The desserts that we tried were all delicious. Our favorites were the cheesecake empanada and crema catalan. Some of the dishes are a little expensive for the size and quality. For example, the scallops were tasty but unevenly sized with ones that appeared to be in a different size classes from others. Service: 3 I hate to take away points for service as our server was so kind and patient with our large group. Some dishes took very long to come out. They also appeared a little disorganized and some of our dishes/drinks were forgotten until they were reminded. To be fair though, we had a large group and ordered several times throughout the course of our meal which could have led to this confusion by the kitchen. Ambiance: 5 Mulas is a beautiful restaurant. I like how it feels very bright, airy, and open. There is also a nice outdoor seating area with live music. This would be the perfect place for a date night or drinks/tapas with friends. read more

Mulas menu has changed and has great new Mexican food It is an upscale casual restaurant. The service has been excellent every time we've been there. Love going mid-afternoon for happy hour. Tapas menu is great but the best bites are definitely the pork belly and the shrimp empanadas. The Green Chile Risotto Croquetas are like a green chile pizza bite and delish. Drinks were great and service was lovely. It's a very chill spot and honestly I'm in love with the wall collage of old pictures of corrales which just gets my feels. This is a super cute little spot in Corrales that I didn't know was there! I went for a group brunch. It's a bit of a country cafe sort of theme. The waitstaff was very friendly and great about refilling waters and drinks and checking on us. We were a decent sized group and there were quite a few in the place so it was a refreshing experience to have such good service. The food came out very quickly as well. I got the Mi Gallo Torta with the onion rings and it was absolutely delicious. The onion rings also really hit the spot and were the right amount of crispy with a nice breading. I didn't realize this place was even here but I'm very glad someone in our group decided to do a brunch here. I will have to go back for dinner at some point! read more

Well I just went in for drinks and unfortunately they didn't have all the ingredients for my choice. I said I'm simple just make something up with what you have and I'm sure it I'll enjoy it. Disappointed... Again We really didn't plan on returning to Mulas after our first experience, but since this visit was for a family member's birthday, we decided to give it another shot. We figured lightning rarely strikes twice. Unfortunately, it did -- and somehow with better aim. We had a 6:00 PM reservation and weren't seated until 6:40. Approximately 1/3 of the tables were empty the whole night and yet no one could be seated. The reservation was for indoor seating, yet we were placed outside under a tent and needed to request to be indoors. Then came the service delays. Orders were confused, timing was long, and the wine service was, let's say... educational. The wrong bottle arrived, and it appeared to be the first time the server had handled a wine key. We ultimately stepped in to open it ourselves. This isn't a reflection on the staff member -- she was doing her best -- but it does raise concerns about management training and preparation. The food itself was fine, but the ongoing confusion left us guessing what might arrive next. About 30 minutes in, we were told certain items were unavailable -- after orders had been placed. Plates were served missing components with no explanation, substitution, or adjustment offered. The bill continued the theme: two entrees charged that were never received, and we were informed another item was still being prepared while we were in the process of paying. It felt less like dinner service and more like a surprise tasting menu curated by chaos. During our previous visit, management acknowledged the issues and worked to make things right. This time, there was no follow-up or apology. It felt less like an off night and more like standard operating procedure. We genuinely wanted this to be a better experience. Unfortunately, it wasn't. I really dislike giving poor reviews, really wanted Mulas to be a winner since every other restaurant that has occupied this building wasn't good either. Issues from not confirming my OpenTable reservation, to 1.5 hours to get two cold meals when we had 3 diners at the table... Then a feeble apology as they billed us at full price without even an offer to make anything right. Could go on and on, but after the in-person service we received last night, I doubt this review will do any good. Good luck Mulas, your gonna need it. read more

So happy we finally made it in here to check this new restaurant out! Such a transformation of the interior space- and the patio too! So inviting now! AND the food was terrific! We just tried a couple of things... the empanadas And the beef tacos.... They were both really good- and plenty for a light lunch. I especially loved the tacos. Really flavorful and beautifully presented! So looking forward to coming back and exploring the menu further! And the staff was very personable and welcoming. Tucked away just off the main street, this cozy spot serves up tapas that combine Spanish, New Mexican, and Native American influences. Chefs Gabriel and Jordan truly know their craft -- from their delicious nightly specials (the paella is incredible) to small plates like pork belly and scallops that you may not want to share. When first going to Mula's it was lunch. Back then pricey but good. Preciously we went for dinner in late winter twice. They were still pricey but good food. In April we went for dinner and the food experience dropped. In late May we to Mula's with another couple because that is where they wanted to go. Totally bad idea. Our table did not order appetizers but went straight to entrees. I ordered the Chimayo Alfredo and my wife ordered scallops. My Alfredo change from the previous time and the "fry bread" bore a strong resemblance to a section of pita bread. My wife and the other couple ordered scallops and the ribeye. My wife and I received our dishes first. For some strange reason I hit my stopwatch. It took 6' 42" for the next entree of scallops and 1'20" for the ribeye. The scallops were on the small end and only four. For the price we thought the order was light. The other gentleman's ribeye dry fatty and thin. Based upon my experience it looked more like 8 oz than 12 oz. Finally, it is so noisy it is almost impossible to carry on a conversation when more than half full. Will we go back? Never! Had a great first time visit. Shared 4 Tapas plates between 3 people and they were very very good. We also had the Basque Cheesecake which we absolutely loved, as it was fresh and perfectly baked. The exception was the eggplant dish, which tasted heavy and greasy - maybe it was left in fryer too long. The service was great and the wine selections were great. This is an odd place the parking, the menu and the food. The patio is nice but it's of course very hot right now but they did have AC. There were 2 tables and the service was slow, drinks come in cans. We ordered ceviche $8, pizza $18 and chicken empanadas 12$. The pizza was bland tasted like Little Ceci's and had no fresh basil or balsamic drizzle. The empanadas tasted like corn bread, not sure if they should but okay, with a basic green chicken filling. Third try, and today's visit was worse than the first two. All three visits we were greeted with, "Do you have a reservation?" And when we answered that we didn't, the host/wait staff seems annoyed and/or disappointed. And each time the restaurant was mostly empty. I get that might be more of a staffing deal, but during our last visit we were on the patio and witnessed this same behavior towards everyone who showed up (didn't appear anyone had a reservation). Food is good, and it's a cute set up. But the staff is not great, and service is very slow. Oh, and the bartender walked out while our waitress was taking our order and said, "I've had enough of this." So maybe just a toxic environment? I'm not sure, but we miss the Bistro :(. read more

When I got my credit card bill I was charged more than the discount amount. I called multiple times and was promised a call back from the manager. It never happened. Went here for brunch. It was pretty slow. I ordered the breakfast burger and my wife ordered the eggs Benedict. The burger came out and it was supposed to have a patty, an egg, and bacon. It only had a patty and bacon bits on a pretzel bun. I asked the waitress about the egg and she said "you need to order it separately". I told her that's not what the menu says and she insisted that it didn't come with an egg but I could order one on the side. The burger was dry and overcooked and small. Definitely not worth the $19 price tag. The eggs Benedict were tiny and the meat was so hard and so dry that we had to use a steak knife for her to eat it. Definitely not worth the $17 price tag. The bill came and it showed that everything on my burger had some reason been removed. I was never asked anything about the burger except for how I wanted it cooked. If you're not going to have the items on the burger that are listed, you should at least let the customer know when they're ordering. We won't be back to Mulas. We love Corrales and supporting local, but it really just wasn't good food or experience. read more

1st time dining - On a early Friday evening there was no wait time. Ambiance was relaxing and inviting. Waitress was friendly. I had to request for the refills of my iced tea. Main entree was delicious, however the side was served VERY sparingly. I'm excited to try the patio when it's warmer and hope they fix the kinks out as they are a fairly new restaurant to the area. Beautiful ambiance, that's the reason for a 3... We went in on a Sunday after church and it wasn't too busy. We sat on their beautiful inviting back patio. Ther server took our drink order and forgot to put in my beverage order... After waiting 20 min, asked for it and it was brought out. We waited about 25 minutes for our food order to come out (at the time, there were only 5 tables, so not a huge church rush).... I ordered the green Chile enchiladas which were about a 3... I asked for extra Chile and barely had any, food was not hot, more luke warm, and pinto beans were not cooked all the way. Our server only checked on us at the beginning and when she took our order .. we were not checked on while we ate. A friend ordered an iced tea and she forgot to put that in to. I give the ambiance a 5, food a 3, and setvice a 1... Definitely need to write stuff down and check on their guests more often. read more

We are Corrales residents and hope good restaurants succeed here. Unfortunately, Mulas disappoints. The ambience is very nice, good music (not too loud), but for the second time in two visits, the service was lacking. While there was only two tables with customers inside, it took five minutes to get seated. We sat outside, with only three other occupied tables. We ordered the pasta and the empanada. The pasta came first, no utensils, then three songs later (5 minutes or so) the empanada was brought out, again without utensils. The staff finally brought out utensils. When we asked to speak to the manager, she "explained" how tapas are served, never spoke to the lack of attention and when we mentioned the pasta was already cold after all that time and because we were undet a fan, she explained how we could've just moved. We have great hope that Mulas will work on its service because Corrales could definitely use more restaurants. But this wasn't worth it. Connie read more
