After having had my eyebrows threaded for the last 20 years, I just came from the most painful eyebrow threading I've ever experienced in my life. Binu (sp?) left me with swollen eyebrows like I most literally have never seen before and now my whole forehead is breaking out in stress hives from the experience. We didn't come in for a brow waxing (although judging from reviews/pictures, I wouldn't enlist their services for that job)... We came in to get henna tattoos! When we inquired, the lady told us to find a picture similar to what we wanted, so don't expect her to provide samples. We came back the next day & were very pleased with the results. I got a gigantic piece on my forearm, which looked orange after the henna peeled off, & got darker as the days passed. It lasted a good 2.5 weeks! I've only gotten henna work done once & that was a million years ago on telegraph ave (Berkeley, CA); I don't remember the price. My piece here was $20, I believe, & my friend, who'd gotten one sentence "tattooed" was charged almost the same ($15, maybe?) Happy with the results, but trying another artist next time who can bring her own ideas to the table. read more

My review is based solely on my experience getting a bikini wax at this location. This review is definitely filed under "Overshare" but only for the good of mankind. I decided on this place based on Yelp reviews. Note for future: high ratings for eyebrow threading does not equal high ratings for all services offered. I rolled in on a Friday after work and the place was filled to capacity. I took the last seat on the bench and proceeded to wait. The line moved quickly for those waiting to get threaded but I wanted a bikini wax so had to wait extra long. When it was finally my turn, I was led to the back room where I was pretty sure I was going to be drugged and trafficked. It was not a peaceful nor safe space and I instantly began rethinking the life decisions which had led me there. I should have left earlier. Note for future: if you feel unsafe, doubtful, vulnerable, etc. you should leave. Screw etiquette and / or social obligation. Just leave. Unfortunately, due to a number of factors, including the knowledge that I had been woefully neglectful of my lady parts, I decided to persevere. How bad could it be, right? Note for future: it can be VERY bad. Very, very bad. My lady parts never get the attention they deserve. Mostly because maintenance is unpleasant. So, visits to the gardener tend to be few and far between. However, the trimming process has never been this painful nor unpleasant in all my life. The horrid person performing this torture kept saying, "that's what you get for waiting so long" and "come back in 3 weeks so this never happens again" but I would like to state for the record that those words do not make the experience better nor does handing me a wadded up paper towel and telling me to "bite down". In fact, those things make me want to yell vitriol at you and then run far and fast. Unfortunately, as one tends to be during this type of maintenance, I was in a very vulnerable position so I just cried silently while biting down on a wadded up paper towel. Upon completion, I was surprised to find I still had skin. I was pretty sure my peeing tool was permanently broken (though that feeling went away by the end of the weekend). The end result is lackluster, crooked, and underwhelming and in no way worth the experience nor the fear I felt for my life. I am traumatized by my waxing experience at Perfect Brows. The next time I need to get in a bathing suit I will seriously weigh it against this experience and, more than likely, buying a pair of board shorts will become the compromise. read more

Come get perfect brows for 7 or 8 bucks! I've been here once and was charged 7$. The entire process took about 8 minutes. She had me hold certain parts of my face to ensure a nice taught surface. The process is mildly uncomfortable but no where near rivals the pains of waxing. I took two of my male friends who had WILD beasts growing above their eyeballs. Each of their threadings cost 8$. She even BROKE some of her threads on one of my friends' brows. His hairs were so thick! She recommends going back every 2-3 weeks. I think once a month will suffice if you aren't too hairy and take care of any major hairs in the mean time. They give you a threading card so every 6th visit, it's free! In the need of a good threading? This is the place to go. I have been going to Perfect Brows for years and honestly I do not see myself stopping. I use to live down the block and would run over for a quick cleanup and was never disappointed. All of the ladies there are super nice and there is just great customer service. They take their threading very seriously (thank you) and pay attention to every detail to ensure that you are happy with the outcome. I also like that over my visits, that I've built a good rapport with the ladies there. No one gets offended when I'm waiting for my lady and they always remember for my to stamp my card...or now swipe using Blink. If you are a first timer, do not fret you are in good hands with anyone there. All the threaders are experienced and very skilled. I do wish the place was a little bigger when it gets crowded but other than that I like the intimacy. It makes you relax when us ladies are going in for our regular maintenance. Sometimes the bright light can be a bit powerful for my eyes but if it helps the overall outcome I sit and shut up :) I would and do recommend this place to anyone who is into threading. They have other services and even henna! One stop shop! Now that I've moved to the Bronx, its a bit of a journey down to my favorite place but honestly its worth the journey. Pros: + Convenient - very close to the 96th street subway station + Unbeatable price - my reference point is Philly, where the threaders there charge $12++ for the same quality job, while Perfect Brows charges $7 for brows and $5 for upper lip threading (tax included), so it's like getting a free upper lip threading + Friendly service, warm welcome, and profuse thanks after - "We love walk-ins" (direct quote from the 3 nice ladies) + Threading lady was very sweet - she was very responsive to how I was feeling, and told me we could stop anytime. I felt barely any pain and did not have any adverse skin reactions (and I'm normally really sensitive and break out into hives after). She also offered to redo it if I wasn't happy with the work. (Didn't need to) + Loyalty card - you get every 7th eyebrow threading session free + You can pay and tip on your credit card Neutral / Not a deal breaker: +/- It's not fancy, but I'd rather walk away with a decent-looking (and intact) pair of eyebrows than be served tea in a fancy environment. It's clean though. I can't speak on their brows but I had absolutely the worst experience ever getting lashes done here. When the price is too good to be true, it sometimes really is way too good to be true. The person doing my lashes got glue in my eye and it stung so so bad. It hurt my eyes and I couldn't stop crying for over 2 hours. I'm in the medical field too so I know this was not safe. In addition she made me feel like I was 100% the reason why she got lash glue in my eye. Instead of trying to comfort me, she made me feel so bad about myself. I've gotten lashes done so many times before and I've never once had a problem. I left the place with half done on one of my eyes because I would rather take looking strange/bad than actual pain. I had to get it removed later because every time I blinked, it hurt so bad. Again, I can't speak on their brows and since it's a brow place, it's probably good. Its a really tiny, no frills place that accommodates three service chairs and a small bench / waiting area. When I went, there were two Indian women attending to clients. I forgot to ask their names but one was a younger looking and one was older looking. The younger looking girl did my eyebrows. And boy, she did them real good. I'll ask for her name next time around and update it here. It was my first time here and I chose this place over the others after doing a basic review of all places closeby on yelp. Earlier I used to visit Unique threading salon all the way in Midtown to get my eyebrows done. Went to a few places in Jackson Heights too. But nowhere was I as happy with the end result than I was here. She was quick and efficient. I asked for a slight arch and she gave me a beautiful one! No extra thinning of eyebrow line or pinching and plucking skin. A Quick and clean job. Extremely satisfied, will definitely visit again! The place is small, seats about 3 or so at a time but the lady, Puna, threaded my brows and they came out perfectly clean and groomed. This was my first time getting threaded but of course, I was no guinea pig-- a friend raved about this place. They ended up doing a great job and now I can't envision any other way of shaping my eyebrows! For first time members, sign up for the Belly VIP rewards to earn points. At $7 for eyebrows, they do a really good job if you don't mind a trek to the UES. I read the great, good, and not so good reviews on this place, and it definitely seems that the good reviews are correct. I have been maintaining my own eyebrows for years, but realized I needed some professional help. After doing a lot of research, I decided to come here. This place is very small, with 3 chairs. The technicians were hard at work when I came in so I took a seat to wait my turn. When it was my turn, Raj, my technician, asked what I needed. I told her my eyebrows have needed some help for a little while as I have been trying to fill in some spots where my eyebrows were light. I told her I wanted to keep my eyebrows thick. I decided to get threading done and an eyebrow tint so that the lighter hair would show up. I told her just to clean-up my eyebrows, and not to change the shape or touch my arch. She listened. She worked quickly and was very efficient. I have a high threshold for pain, but this hurt more than I thought it would, not her fault. She proceeded to put on the tint, and when it was all over, my eyebrows looked awesome and for only $22 ($7 for threading & $15 for tint). This placed saved me a lot of dough as I was so fed up with my eyebrows that I almost went to an eyebrow guru in midtown for $150. read more

I've come here to get my eyebrows done many times, but after my list visit I don't think I will ever go back. Usually the service is fine, sometimes my eyebrows come out good and sometimes not so great but I kept going bc it's cheap and it's so close to my apt. The last time I went there were 4 people in line ahead of me and 2 specialists. One of them looked at the line, and said please hold on. She goes to the back, warms up some indian food in the microwave, and proceeds to eat in front of all of us. She's taking her time to eat while we all wait and can see her slowly eating. The place is small that she is basically sitting right next to us, chewing bite after bite. After about 20 min she comes back and I'm next up. She begins threading my eyebrows and her hands still have food stains on them and reek of curry. It was so unsanitary and I couldn't bare the smell. Gross. The specialists are rude, they laugh at customers and what a coincidence, specially the one who does not usually do a great job. I've been coming here for nearly two years, and I refuse to go anywhere else. Ayesha does such a good job with my eyebrows, and she always does them exactly how I ask. This is really important to me as I've had plenty of tragic eyebrow waxes and threads that made me want to hide from the world for two weeks. I don't even have to tell her what I want anymore--I can just plop down in her chair and she gives me a perfect thread each time. Do not go here, THEY ARE RACIST! I've been going to this place for about 3 years now and I just now finally accepted that they're racist. At first they appear to be very friendly and professional so that you come back which I did. However, I noticed that they started to treat me different because one I never really gave tip and two because I'm a Latina women. I became a regular and I noticed that every time I would go in they would not acknowledge me or even respond to my greetings (They have seen my face multiple times, in a consistent matter) even when they are not attending a customer. BUT, whenever they see a non person of color (Hispanic and/or Black) all of the sudden they're happy, remember how to give eye contact and what a smile is. During my service, they tend to rush and do exactly the opposite of what you asked for even if you show them a picture (I feel like they purposely do this) When they ask you to hold your eyelid they say it with an attitude like they're forced to do it even though you're paying for it. BUT, to the rest they happen to know how to take their time and actually interact with their clients. I wouldn't be taking the time to write this if I wasn't sure about my statements. Ive watched other women of color get services done by the staff and I noticed that it wasn't just me who was being treated like that. Also, I would walk into the salon 15-20 minutes before closing to a white lady BY HERSELF WITH NO STAFF WATCHING OVER HER but when I'm the last customer all of the sudden the staff wants to make sure they're supervising their little business. When you ask to use the bathroom, they wait for you near the bathroom and watch you until you leave the store completely.
