I had never had Chinese massage before and now it's my favorite! I sum it up like this: Chinese massage is like relaxing bodywork on a professional comfy optionally heated massage table while incorporating many modalities and methods including aroma therapy but they do all the work. I repeatedly told the masseuse that my hips and shoulders are not that flexible and, to my surprise, portals to relief and range of motion were magically opened! They had an immediate walk-in spot available and I requested a male masseuse to apply lots of pressure on my back. I got a guy named Steven and he was pretty good! It seems that these days discount massages include the dress and clean up time in your hour, but in this case I was actually massaged for a full hour and a few extra minutes. I opted not to have the hot stones or table shower. It seems that they changed the staff around as they seemed a lot more organized and professional now than they did back when the other reviews posted. Recommended by a friend for deep tissue massage, rooms are very clean, massage was relaxing and really helped with my shoulder and lower back issues. Other reviews are right, there is often a language barrier, but the staff is professional and well trained in massage. Just make sure to establish the strength of the massage before you start and you will enjoy your experience. FYI, this is an Asian / Swedish style massage, expect to wear nothing but a small towel, it can be a bit shocking to those who have been going to western style massage studios. Went to get a massage paid for 60 min had to pay up front and the lady wanted a tip before hand also I declined I was taken to a room and the masseuse came in introduced herself and left didn't come back for 15 minutes. When she did come back she was talking on her phone. She started the massage still talking was not a massage just very lite rubbing more like a tickle after about 10 min of this she left the room for at least 15 min she came back still on phone with a very hot towel rubbed me down with it and said all done I told her it had not been an hour she said all done so I got dressed on my way out she asked for a tip I said no way and complained to the lady in charge and she said it had been an hour would not listen to me at all all in all the worst massage that I have ever had she did not give me a real massage of any kind and truly is the tickling only lasted 20 minutes at most I would never ever ever go back there it was a terrible experience read more

The place was clean so I will give it 2 stars. I purchased and hour and a half for $50. They asked me to pay up front. Now I know why. The masseuse was named Tom. He smelled of cigarettes. He had no skills. No sensitivity. I have been to probably 20 of these places and had at least 100 massages. Mostly in Los Angeles where they really, for the most part, have skilled masseuses even at the $19.99 foot massage places. I love them!! Now I have moved to Folsom and have been to 4 massage places here and I have to say the people here are lazy. They put minimal effort into their massages. One handed leg massage, one elbow over and over and over on your back until you want to scream, pushing on your body instead of massaging, staying in one place for a really long time, walking slowly to the next position, hot stones they put on your back then stand there. Just stand there. Really horrible skills. I won't come back here. $50 is too much to pay for a stupid massage but not too much to pay for a great massage. I will keep looking. There has to be a place here in Folsom that has good massage. read more

This review is ONLY based on my experience purchasing a gift card. ________________ I constantly receive coupons in the mail for Lotus Massage. I decided to purchase a gift card ($17.99 for an hour foot and body massage). Oh boy, what an ordeal that turned out to be! I had to speak with four different people (language barrier -- the first three didn't understand English). A middle aged woman was finally able to assist, she seemed pleasant enough. I asked for a $23 gift card ($17.99, plus a $5 tip) and handed her my debit card. The woman looked at me and asked if I had cash, which I didn't. If I HAD or WANTED to use cash as payment, I would have. Anyway, she took my debit card and notified me that there'd be a $1 service charge. Really? Before entering the building, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover logos are shown on the door. NO WHERE is it posted that a $1 fee will be applied to card transactions. Perhaps it sounds petty BUT I cannot stand that crap! I told her to just run the card, thanked her for her assistance, and left. A follow-up will be written once the gift card is used. read more

I called (2-27-2013) and requested an ashiatsu message and they said they could accommodate me. I get to the room and there are no bars to support the masseuse that is suppose to walk on my back and give me a deep massage using their feet. I did receive a message but it was not what I asked for, and I left very unhappy. I decided to give this place a second chance and called again on Friday 3-1-2013. I made another appointment for Saturday 3-2-2013 for an ashiatsu message. This time I specifically asked the lady on the phone to make sure they give me the correct message this time. She puts me on hold, calls the Lotus spa in Folsom explains to them what I want and she then gets back on the phone with me and tells me everything is set. When I arrived for my appointment 3-2-1013, the guy at the front desk escorts me to a closet for a room. This room was so small. It was about 5 foot wide and 8 foot long. There was a table and a chair in the room and that was it. Once again no bars. The guy tells me to get undressed and the masseuse will be right in. I immediately felt like I was in an elevator or closet. I then look up at the ceiling and see a large hole and electrical lines coming down the wall. I told myself there is no way I am getting undressed in this room. After about 5 min, She (the masseuse) opens the door and two men are standing right there (creepy). None of them spoke very good English and I told them I wanted an ashiatsu message and this room was not going to work. The guy at the front desk says, "Can you wait 30 minutes until another room opens up?" I told him I am not going to wait 30 min and I made an appointment for this service. He then try's to tell me to get a 30 min message in the elevator/closet room and half way through my message I have to switch rooms. I politely informed him that I will not move rooms half way though a service that I did not ask for in the first place. I was not happy at this point, so I just walked out. read more

i have now been to this place a few time, and every time it gets better! You do have a hard time communicating what you want exactly, but i always feel relaxed and better when I leave. My favorite massage place in town. I've had the foot/body massage and full body massage several times.

This was one of the worst reflexology massage experiences I've ever had. The foot and body combo massage started very unevenly; instead of doing the usual face, head, and neck massage, the masseuse mainly just pressed my temples hard over and over again so that I felt like my head was going to pop. When she got to my feet, she vaguely rubbed them, not focusing at all on pressure points. Towards the second half of the massage, she got up repeatedly and left for prolonged amounts of time. I would understand if she had to briefly step out to answer the phone, but this was getting ridiculous. Finally, I could feel just one hand distractedly rubbing my back in a circular motion. It turns out my own masseuse disappeared entirely, and the masseur working on my husband was now massaging both of us, ineffectively pretending to be two people. It would have been funny, if it wasn't so annoying. Needless to say, we won't be going back. read more

I saw their advertisement in the Clipper. They were running a special. I decided to take advantage of this. I asked for a lady for both the foot massage and body massage. The foot massage was very good. I then was asked to go into a room with a filmsy cloth covering the doorway.. . I was given a rather small towel to cover with..there was really no privacy with covering my body and that added more strees. I was told later, by a friend, that in Asian countries, you're given a towel to cover with and "privacy" is not in their vocabulary..The room was on the chilly side and the cold towel didn't help me relax. Other than that, the massage was quite good. I cannot say anything bad about the massages, just the lack of privacy. I got dressed and went to pay. I received the charges for the foot and body massage along with a piece of paper that read "$20.00 (tip)..This is absolutely ridiculous...A 20% tip would have been $13.00..If they came to our country to start a business they, they need to learn that it isn't "our" way to be given a separate bill for the tip...I might try it again, but next time I will have the 20% tip in an envelope. read more
