I went in for a color consultation as my hair has been through a lot with chemotherapy medication and other meds that have affected my hair. Ashley was so kind and HONEST with me and was willing to tell me news I didn't necessarily want to hear. After a strand test, she said she did not recommend dying my hair and gave me recommendations to trial treatments or chop my hair... She did not try to sell me a specific product but truly just wanted me to have a fighting chance at saving my hair. Despite being heartbroken leaving the salon, I appreciate how Ashley took her expertise and was willing to be honest and not just dye my hair anyways. I will be taking her recommendations to treat my hair and if after 6-8 weeks, it's still not good, I'll chop it. read more

I had a great experience here previously for a shoulder length haircut, which is why I felt confident booking a balayage. Unfortunately, this visit was really disappointing. I brought in reference photos and was excited for a noticeable change, especially since I haven't colored my hair in years. After a 2-hour appointment, the result was extremely subtle to the point that my hair looks almost the same as before. The total came out to $450, which felt shocking given the lack of visible difference. I understand balayage can be more natural-looking, but for that price point, I expected a clear transformation or at least results closer to what I had discussed and shown. I've reached out to the salon to try to resolve this and am hoping they make it right. Based on this experience, I would recommend being very clear about expectations, pricing, and level of change before committing to a service. Updating my review: I reached out to the salon directly to resolve this, but unfortunately, we were not able to come to a fair solution. I was charged $450 for a balayage that resulted in little to no visible change, despite providing reference photos and having a consultation beforehand. I came here for a cut because I received a gift certificate. I made an appointment online with Deven because he was available during the week in the evening. The woman at the front reception was nice and checked me in quickly. Deven came and got me shortly after that. I have long hair and gave him a general idea of what I wanted but I was open to ideas. I wanted to keep my hair long and I was happy that he was able to get my split ends and still keep the length. Deven checked in with me throughout the service making sure I was comfortable and asked if I wanted any adjustments. He was gentle and thorough with my hair and very careful to not get any water on my face during the wash. My hair looked great and felt very soft when I left. I was a client at Hoshall's when Joyce and Hosh greeted you at the door! I had a hair appointment this morning that I need to cancel due to unseen circumstances, and instead of offering a reschedule or other options that might be available the appointment was cancelled and I was charged with $160 for broken appointment less than 24 hours prior to service. REALLY? OK, stuff comes up, but this is unusual and it seems to me to very arbitrary given the circumstances. Just another note: I will not be back; they lost an invoice of less than $100 for a client that wont be back for anything in the future. read more

I have had 2 massages with Lisa and she works magic with her way of massaging. I usually want deep tissue, but like I said, she works magic without the deep tissue. I had a massage at Hoshalls with Christian. He was amazing! I have had a knot in my back, which felt like a golf ball between my spine and my shoulder blade. I've never had anyone massage it out. Well... Hmm. I used to go to their sister salon Shades in Roseville before it closed so I migrated over because they had my favorite color formula on file even though this is a bit out of the way for me. I also liked their hair products. I lost my former stylist and had to find a new one so I tried out a few different people. The prices fluctuate based on experience level of the stylist. I finally found one that I gelled with. She does what I ask. Personable but not obnoxious. Does a decent enough job. The front desk is always very friendly and anytime I call to make an appointment. They have a text system for their reminders although they changed my appt time without calling to say do you mind if we push your appt out another 30 mins? I even called to verify and no apology whatsoever for the unexpected change. Here is my reason for the dinger in stars. The prices are high. I knew it would probably be more expensive being in Folsom but didn't know how much. A toner back in the day at shades was $20 and then it went up to $40, so double, fine. Four months ago it was $40 and then I just went last week and it is now $50. Dude its color in the bottle that you put on like shampoo. It does not take a lot of skill or 25% increase in cost. Then my hair cut is $50 plus $15 for having long hair. I never imagined paying $65 for a basic hair cut. Oh and the hair products have gone up considerably as well. My once $19 hair spray is now $26 or 27. Yes everything is expensive nowadays but I think the increases are higher than average. It would be nice if they grandfathered some pricing or at least reward you for being a loyal customer like a free travel product or something? With that said, I cannot come as often as I would like. From the moment I walk in for my appointments, the ladies at the reception greet me with a big smile, that already says a lot about a place. Then I get guided to the changing room by a very friendly gal. They also have a beautiful back patio where you can enjoy a quiet time. There's infused water for the guests and a steam room that I usually like to use after the massage to detox and shower. All the ladies I have had for massages are great and personable. What can I say, I needed a serious highlight! It had been seven long months. Finally I made an appointment for Dec 11th, I was scheduled with GIANA. Thank goodness I was. Giana did an excellent job on my hair! I am beyond happy with my results from her artistry. She blended it complete to my liking. I came in on my birthday for several treatments. What stood out was the worst facial of my life. Ive worked In a spa for 15 years and have received countless treatments. The woman who did my facial Luda, clearly did not want to be there. She gave zero advice or recommendations. During my facial a neck and shoulder massage were given which I was looking forward to. Unfortunately i couldn't even call it a massage. The amount of pressure she used was so nominal that the touch was almost irritating. I wish I could have said something but she smacked a sticker on my lips so I couldn't speak up throughout the process. Towards the end she cleaned her room and filled her machine with water on my time. Clanking around the entire hour. There was no point where this facial was relaxing. And if that isn't the worst part, I continued to my next session which was a blow dry and sat and wat he's my skin break out more and more each minute. I informed my stylist and she called her over. When she came she told me this was normal and I probably never had a facial before. Sprayed some toner on a napkin and said I'll be fine. I came in with a clear face and walked out with a full face of breakouts. It took over a week for my skin to calm down. My intention for my birthday dinner was to look fabulous and fresh, instead I had the face of a broken out teenager. It's been a long time since I've had such a break out. I informed the staff and no one seemed to care. It was a horrible experience and I won't be returning You would honestly do a better job just putting on a cleanser and a mask at home. read more

I came here to see Emily, who used to work at another salon that closed down. **Quick back story** After paying $400 at the previous salon Emily worked at, for my daughter's barely shoulder length hair to be bleached and colored pink, she said that the next visit wouldn't be a expensive(yes, we went over and I knew what to expect.) I followed her here to Hoshall's Salon & Spa I followed her here to Hoshall's because I felt like she did a good job. When I scheduled her appointment 3 weeks prior, it was a for a big event in the next few days and my daughter wanted her hair to be fresh. When I got there, they first told me they thought she was just there to touch it up and weren't sure they had the time to do it, when I had specified over the phone it was to be a touch up and adding black. Good news is that they were able to accommodate what I had originally asked for on the phone, although, it made things slightly uncomfortable. Almost 4 hours later, her hair was exactly what she wanted... and in a way, Emily was right. It was not as expensive. $375 later. Pricing was still the same as the other salon. but honestly... it's not worth the $100 an hour to touch up the roots and add some black into it. The pink is the only reason they charged $100/hr and it was the quickest part of the process. It started fading drastically within a week and a half, even with my daughter following the washing hair with cool water every 3-4 days, buying special shampoo/conditioner (add on $45 there) and not using heat. What ever brand pink they use sucks. So I had to go buy a pink brand I knew would last longer(and it lasted 3 weeks longer than what they used.) Final thoughts... great job on color, but this place is too over priced for vibrant colors that only last a short amount of time. read more

Made an appointment over the phone 2 weeks in advance. I asked for the curl specialist and expressed my desire for a cut, style & color. Upon arrival I was informed they hadn't booked enough time for that but could do a cut. The Stylist was nice enough, but when she walked me to the register to pay she advised cashier of kind of appointment I would need on my next visit.
