I hired Dean and Perfected Painting and Home Services to paint a home that I had just purchased and to stain the interior woodwork throughout the house. The job was hectic right from the start. He had painters coming and going constantly. One person would start an area, leave, and then someone else would finish it. There were problems everywhere. When the job was completed, there was not a single room that did not require multiple rounds of touch-ups. Multiple sections of ceilings were completely missed. At one point, Dean tried to convince me that a bedroom closet covered in cobwebs had been freshly painted. There were paint speckles all over my kitchen counters because they did not put down plastic before rolling the walls. They also rolled the stairway walls without proper protection, leaving paint speckles all over my stairs. It took me nearly two hours to clean the paint off the risers. They also failed to remove old caulk before applying new caulk. Instead, they simply caulked over the existing material. It has been just over a year, and some of their caulk work is already failing. The wood staining had numerous issues, including runs, drips, uneven color, blotchy areas, missed spots, and sections that looked painted rather than stained. The contract called for light sanding, followed by a coat of stain and a coat of polyurethane. Toward the end of the project, the sanding appeared to be skipped. The stain and polyurethane were mixed together and brushed onto the wood. After seeing the finished product, I consulted multiple professional painters. They advised that the defects could not simply be touched up and that the wood would need to be sanded back down to bare wood and completely re-stained. Some even expressed concern that certain doors may need replacement due to the extent of the damage. Before hiring Dean for the garage floor, I told him I was considering an epoxy system. He advised against epoxy and recommended a product he referred to as "Heavy Seal," telling me it would be less expensive, more durable, and longer-lasting. I trusted his expertise and hired him based on that recommendation. The contract called for proper preparation of the garage floor. Unfortunately, the floor coating began failing within months. What started as a few small problem areas quickly turned into widespread flaking, peeling, bubbling, and hot tire pickup. I now have paint chips all over my driveway where my children play, and the chips are also being tracked into my house. I had several garage floor coating companies inspect the floor, and they all indicated that the failure appeared to be the result of improper surface preparation before the coating was applied. I spent thousands of dollars on work that now needs to be redone. Hiring this company was one of the worst financial decisions I have ever made. I ultimately filed a small claims lawsuit in DuPage County seeking compensation for the cost of repairing the defective work. As of the date of this review, the owner of the company, Dean, has not appeared at one or more scheduled court dates. read more

Like current other reviewers his crew does poor work and says that all he can give for the price, his excuses for poor drywall repair and painting quality is below 1 star. Non Sanded drywall mud painted over, there was NO quality or care, no Integrity, and double talk regarding the quote and what work was promised verses waht was performed. This guy brags until you fee sick to your stomach, I think he has serious medical issues. I need to rehire other company to redo the same work he was hired to fix. I can only give one star to this company due to customer service and integrity, and double talk regarding the quote. Also there is one more thing that STILL needs to be done, that was promised to be done NUMEROUS times and still is not done! The quality of the work done by Perfected Painting and Home Services was good (which is the only reason I'm giving 2 stars). However, the problem came on the last day of work (after 1st coat of paint was on). The owner stated that the carpenter he had contracted charged more for the cedar siding that needed to be replaced and that he used more than he had estimated. We know this was not true because the cedar siding was stored in our garage for about a month before the work started. (siding which we had prepaid for). He ended up charging us over $2,000 more than he gave in the original quote...about 30% higher. The quality of their work was good...but the total amount we paid was unreasonable. read more
